Love this place. The older gentleman who was running the front reception was so kind and understanding. I was confused that the eggs came with my order, but he helped clarify (though this could be changed on the menu). The food was great, and the environment is somewhat retro. They are open fairly early in the morning so definitely a great place for breakfast.
The food wasnt bad but they aesthetics speaked loudly.

Server never put in our order and we sat there waiting for our food for 30-40min until we asked another waiter where our food was? Everyone walking in after us had received their food . Shortly after, another waiter comes along with our check? Check and no food? Now almost an hour later. They come back and say there was a problem and our order never made it to the kitchen? Was it because our server jotted our order on his phone? We will never know because we left, immediately. Terrible service.

Planned a weekend in Boston to see family.Arrived at 7:30 am Sunday Oct 24th for breakfast before heading out.Business was not open- no posting on door as to why.Had to scramble to find alternative place.Would give zero stars if I could.Big disappointment.

Reasonable priced bfast. Servers werent attentive. I saw one guy left because he wasnt attended by servers. But food was delicious so I am happy!
This place is so good, I aim to come here every week. They have classic American breakfast fare as well as some excellent Mexican food such as huevos rancheros. And I swear, EVERY TIME we come here, we get a BUNCH of free food, like they bring us SO much!!! My friend and I love this place and cant wait to eat here again.
I live close by and thought I’d try this place. The art is modern and cool in the diner and the food is great . It’s a little more than I wanna spend but I enjoyed my experience. They seem understaffed though
Overall I think this is a good place, I just had a poor experience.We sat outside on one of the picnic tables they share with Plough and Stars (the pub nextdoor). We ordered coffee and brunch dishes. I was excited about the diner experience, you know: bottomless coffee and the generous portions of diner-grade food but sadly I was to be disappointed.I think the wait staff must have been swamped because after taking our order they dropped off the coffee and we waited quite a while for our food. and while the food was great nobody ever came to check in on for the rest of the meal. To pay I had to track down a waiter inside and ask for the check. So much for a coffee refill or jam with my toast, ah well.Ill give them another shot later, Id like to think we just caught them on an especially busy day.
Im giving four stars because this is to be continued... They do have a vegan bowl, and it looked delicious, but they gave it to my friend. I thought I was still waiting for my food and then they brought something with eggs. It also looked like something like cheese on top of the vegan bowl, so I still have to see whats actually in it. They are very nice people but I wont be able to give five stars until I try this bowl.
The food is great. Very delicious and reasonably priced for the area. However the wait staff is less than impressive. Theyre very pleasant and apologetic, because English is not their first language. But they lack proper training. Things like not providing ntaplins or silverware or not bringing back your change for the bill.Given time Im sure things will improve though.
Ordered delivery as a nice morning treat. The eggs florentine were two poached eggs on a burnt english muffin and thats it. No tomato, spinach, or sides (for 14$?). The hollandaise was curdled and split. Totally inedible. The home fries were fine but stone cold. The waffle was mediocre. It was described to me as hotel continental breakfast quality. The fries were dry and cold. Nothing was properly seasoned and nothing got finished.Most of it wound up in the trash. A huge disappointment for a highly rated restaurant.
Stopped at curbside right in front, put on my covid mask and ran in to see if they had a breakfast sandwich - sausage egg and cheese. They did, and I was able to pay contactless right at the entrance counter. Waited in the car and had my sandwich 10 min later. Really excellent, with cheese and egg sticking out the sides ... perfect!

Everyone that works here is a real character (in the best way possible!). Always friendly and welcoming, Mass Ave is a modern twist on classic diner dining. The breakfast sandwich is delicious and very affordable; Perfect for a quick bite!
I ordered the Hungry Mans Specialto go (“had to” be at work). Atmosphere was cool, “old school” yet updated.I would have loved to sit and chat with the friendly hostess and nice nurses having breakfast at the counter, also an eighties music mix was audible but not overwhelming. They have a few taps and I noticed Narragansett tall boys, to the uninitiated a light and refreshing lager, the beer the captain drank in Jaws. It would have complimented my breakfast nicely, I’ll have to swing by again.
Great “grilled cheese” with bacon. Good onion rings. Friendly owner! Don’t recommend the fries though.
Being from California we have several diners. This place was like home to me. The food was awesome and the service was more than I expected. Excellent and will return in the morning
Great diner in the Cambridge area! Carolina took great care of us. She recommended the Gallo Pinto and it was delicious and filling! The atmosphere is great and inviting. We sat at the bartop where the open kitchen is and talked with the chef, Ed, who was very friendly and checked in with us during our meal. We will definitely be back!
Had breakfast here twice while visiting Boston. Food was great, portions were good, and reasonably priced. They were very accommodating to a friends dairy allergy and kept checking up on us to make sure everything was good. Staff was very friendly and kind!! Highly recommend.
Weirdest hours of any restaurant in town. The worst part is they dont even honor the hours posted! Arrived 1/2 hour before closing one day and they said they do not serve less than 1/2 hour before closing. Fine. Next day I arrived one hour before closing and they said sorry were closed! Food isnt that good anyway. Ill never go again.

Loved the place! Home fries awesome! Really home made not frozen!Both of us had complete breakfast with eggs, English muffin, ham, potatoes and even a side of fresh grapefruit for 20 bucks! Tasty bottomless coffee! Just what I was hoping to find - and I am picky about my homestyle breakfast, I am not easy to please.
A run of the mill diner can be hard to find in ever price increasing Cambridge. I definitely recommend stopping by this place for some good ole fashion diner food at a good price, especially your basic brunch fare. Its good, not my favorite because I like inventiveness over cheap but if you need to save your pennies definitely check this place out.

We were looking for a classic American diner breakfast on our last day in Boston. This provided just what we wanted, buttermilk blueberry pancakes with maple syrup was absolutely delicious. Would add that the maple syrup was a paid extra which we thought was a bit weird, and the vibe of the place was unusual for a diner (strange art for sale on the walls) but would recommend.
Good old-fashioned diner on Mass Ave about 10 min walk from Central Station on the Redline. Hearty breakfast at reasonable prices, but service can be slow. Get faster service by sitting at the counter if possible.
I love this place!!! The owner is so friendly. We used to live right across the street, and eating here feels like home. I especially love the plantains and Costa Rican rice and beans.
Have been waiting 45 minutes and theres no sign of our food. Waitress seems entirely indifferent. Update: my omelet was dry and totally tasteless. I had better omelettes in my college dining hall. The potatoes were good though.

I am disappointed to even have to be writing this about my experience last week at the Mass Ave. Diner since I’ve been a true fan for about 15 years now, and this was my go-to spot!My first issue is the fact that the online menu, which should be taken down, was actually pretty deceptive when I learned upon arrival it no longer existed. So there goes the Hungry Man’s Special, $8.99, that I eagerly anticipated. Second issue, I spent $13.99 to recreate the hungry man special, andthe woman at the front desk (not sweet Karolina) told me that people have chewed her out about this issue. Which she was appreciating that I didn’t get upset, or rude. Third issue, the chef is mean mugging me in the background as if I’m taking too long to order. My fourth issue is after repeating a couple of times that I wanted cheese on my scrambled eggs, and being assured that my order was taken down, I did not receive cheese on my eggs, but I’ll tell you what I did receive; an extremely skimp breakfast which literally was scraps! Scraps of broken pieces of bacon which amounted to 1 piece, the end part of toast (you know, the part that we all throw away), MAYBE 4 small pieces of fried potatoes, and the side order of french toast was also stale (this is not an exaggeration) with syrup that if you threw to a wall, would not drip, in other words it was super old!You ever get the feeling that someone just didn’t feel like making your food that day? Or like you were specifically targeted for whatever reason (again, I was so pleasant to the lady at the front desk, I promise!) Well, this was it.This drastic increase on price for less? Really sad!

I ordered the Gallo Pinto ($10.25Two eggs any style, served with queso fresco, tortillas, plantains, rice and beans & salsa) and it was delicious! Friendly and fast service. Gets crowded sometimes but definitely worth a visit.
The person who took my order was rude and disrespectful and I think a bit racist because she was quite nice the the white female she served right after me. Toilet is also out of order. Should be reported to health and safety. Otherwise she flat out lied to me.

Filthy nasty. Bad overpriced food. I was offered 3 *filthy* knives (as in smeared and filmy oily) before the exasperated server told me to sort through the bin to claim one for myself. With my barehands, the same bin that he was giving utensils to other customers out of. I left and called the health department. If they cant clean the silverware, how nasty are the dishes? They also hide their health Dept rating.
Mass Ave diner is a great place.It is very cozy, the staff are very nice and the food is beyond delicious.Also, rhe kitchen is completely open, so nothing to hide :)I totally recommend it!

I like the food a lot. Good prices and tasty. Last time I was there the two women working were being kind of nasty to each other though, arguing over whose responsibility it was to seat us. Also, when we were first in line for a table and there was a clean, open one, we had to ask multiple times for them to let us sit down there and relax rather than stand crammed along the wall. I would still come back but I was definitely not impressed with the service.
Being from NY there are diners on every other block. This plane by far is the best diner Ive ever been too. Friendly service, the food is great it doesnt make you feel like you just ate diner food Coffee is delish!! This place is great!
Good prices and portions only problem we had was a member of our party ordered hash and didnt get it until we were nearly done. Bars open all day too so feel free to kick back with a narragansett lager

Really great breakfast foods in a cozy little place in a good location. The pancakes are a sure bet and wont break the bank by a long shot. Certainly a worthwhile meal to spend on a lazy Saturday.
The food was very good and the restaurant had a great friendly atmosphere. My husband does not like to eat outside of our house but he was very impressed and satisfied with the food we ate.
HUGE fan of this place. My best friend and I try to come at least once a week because it is the kind of place that just makes you want to be a regular. I have never once had to wait to be seated. Everyone who works there is so nice. The food is simple but delicious and very inexpensive. You can get a huge plate of eggs, bacon, hashbrowns and toast for 5 or 6 dollars. Also, as every diner should, they are quick about refilling coffee which is a major plus for me. If you are looking for a consistent and genuine diner, this is the place.

I really enjoyed my first time here for lunch, and the staff was nice. The second time I went (for a late dinner around 8), however, the staff almost seemed to ignore me, and took a while to take my order even though the restaurant was empty.

Asked for Coffee three times.Had to send water back because it had egg floating in it.Wrong food delivered.Forgot a side order.We had given up by the time we left.
Food was alright but service was horrible. Food took an hour and a half after ordering and they forgot one of the meals, which they didnt even realize until 10 minutes after the rest were delivered when we had to flag them down.Also I recognize that they were quite busy but any time we asked one of the servers something, they turned their backs on us halfway through the question to tend to someone else.Oh and they charged us for multiple coffees that werent ordered.
The breakfast food is average, but sub-par when compared to other options a few doors down. The restaurant is clean. The customer service needs a complete overhaul. While there, I witnessed staff allowing people to cut in line, incomplete dine-in orders, and online orders not being fulfilled.
This place still exists because there is a lack of options nearby. Food is bland and overpriced. I went twice. We had breakfast burrito, spinach omelet, and the last straw was the carnitas chilaqules, where even the egg on top tasted bland (no salt).

Very bizarre experience. We came in 1.5 hours before closing, and the owner/manager (?) seemed very angry to see us. He was very brusque, made us move to a different table for seemingly no reason (because the whole place was empty), and was generally inattentive (also racist??). Everything on the menu had hidden fees i.e. condiments, meat options, vegetable options -- so what seemed like a fairly priced meal was actually overpriced. The manager also told one person who came in right after us that the place was closed, even though they were supposed to be open for another hour, at least.
Food is good, service is good, makes a nice weekend breakfast. But diners should *never* serve cans of cola. It may sound silly, but good golly I want bottomless cola with my cheap diner breakfast.
