After walking around Harvard, we needed a little pick-me-up, so we stopped in Harvard Square at Milkbar, I’ve made their famous Birthday Cake before (with all 54824 ingredients) and it was amazing, but I’ve always wanted to try their Milk Bar Pie! I got my chance. It was SO yummy! It reminds me of a buttermilk pie (which I love), so I think I might be trying to make that at home next!

I visited a Milk bar in New York City weeks ago for the 1st time and had an amazing experience. I didnt expect much, and it was quite good. The soft serve tasted like Cheese, and the corn flake crunch toping made it a sweet and salty treat. When I walked by this in Harvard Square, I had to stop by. This time I had the same thing, and for some reason didnt have the same experience. I dont know if I had some expectations, or if the soft serve wasnt as good here, I am not sure.

This birthday cake was the sweetest cake I’ve ever eaten… I am definitely a sweets person but I couldn’t even handle this. I feel like these cakes would be so amazing if they were WAY less sweet. All I could taste was sugar. I don’t recommend spending $53 on a 6in cake if you haven’t at least tried a slice first.

Blah. Overpriced garbage. I ordered 3 small sleeves of cake truffles along with a small strawberry shortcake caramel snap cookie and the total came out to be $20. I was expecting the truffles to taste like Starbucks cake pops but they actually tasted like cheap Little Debbie doughnuts from the supermarket. The strawberry shortcake snap cookie was pretty good but it was way too sweet. I will not be returning.

Omg I paid 10$s for a regular milkshake. It does not even worth it. I would pay maximum 5$s. Starbucks has better Frappuccino and still 4$s. I do not want to be mean but their price does not worth the quality. They should reduce the price or increase the quality way more.

Well I personally didnt like this one. I however saw a lot of people but I was not awed by the quality of the food. The bday cake and bday shake were not of my liking, neither the strawberry cake. I believe that for the price you can get better cakes and pies from somewhere else since this is not cheap either. I specially found the bday cake dry and very sweet while tremendously salty. Dont know, its not for me.

I love the milk bar, it’s exactly what it sets out to be. An enjoyable little shop, with great desserts. Yes it’s expensive, but where else can you get cereal milk ice cream with delicious pieces of cake batter. Plus they really do make a good birthday cake. It’s not as big as a flagship, but the selection holds up, and they have extremely nice people working the counter. Go and enjoy.

If you don’t know Christina Tosi and how Milk Bar came to be, I suggest you watch Chef’s Table: Pastry, Episode 1 on Netflix. If you dont like super sweet cakes or products I do not recommend buying a Cake from here.I ordered their milk bar birthday cake the one with the rainbow sprinkles. I wanted the 10-in but they were sold out online, so I ended up buying a 6 inch at the nearest location in Harvard square. Their service was nice and their workers were very nice. However, their birthday cake and other products were incredibly sweet. To the point it hurt my teeth and my familys teeth to eat. They have nice service and nice workers.Theyre a nice establishment, however, I probably wont be purchasing from them again. Because the sweetness of this Cake and cookies were not to my taste

We ordered a cake for my daughter birthday and we were not impressed at all. The cake was squashed, much smaller than any cake would be for the price. The cookie dough on the top were flattened and the whole thing looked industrial and not made with love.I gave 2 stars instead of one just because the taste was ok.. as ok as a cheap supermarket cake could be. My daughter was so upset, she ate just a tiny bit.Really disappointing.Francesca

Milk bar &pizza is one of the most happening dessert outlets in Cambridge. Being a popular joint this place experiences a lot of crowd during the evening times. Had been here on Valentine’s Day evening and the queue for the dessert bar was humongous. I eventually ended up ordering a pizza from the &pizza section here. The pizza was delicious. They have a unique pizza bread which isn’t circular like the regular one and that just upped the creativity quotient by a big margin. Kudos to the team there. Overall great service and ambience. Would definitely recommend people to visit.

Milk Bar is an insult to the Boston food scene, it feels like it would be better suited in a mall food court. Nothing is baked in house thus resulting in stale cookies and truffles, that takes on the plastic wrapper taste. Ive had better cookies from a grocery store. The ice cream has potential but again is unimaginative, for $9 I expected an experience and I was completely underwhelmed. I would have been more satisfied with a mcflurry. This place seems like a cash grab trying to take advantage of a name. Save you wait in line and go support one of the local dessert places.

Came here around dinner time, place gets packed. There are separate lines for pizza and dessert. Pizza line is pretty sure, they have 6 different personal pizzas or you can make your own. It comes out pretty quick less than 5 mins. I tried the Maverick which is meat lovers and I found it delicious! Nice thin crust and great toppings. If starving might not fill you up.For dessert the ice cream was tasty. They put cereal on it (corn flakes I think) which gets some getting used to initially. They give you a decent portion with lots of toppings. The craft drinks were unique. I think my favs after trying them all were the lemonade one and passion fruit one.

I liked soft serve when i was in NYC. I loved the birthday cake, and even went for a class. Not sure what has changed, I was just... okay with it this time. Don’t think the soft serve (with cereal topping) actually deserves the price of $6.5. I knew I liked the cookies too, but then I was curious when those in store were made. And the staff was not able to give me the answer and said “well we get the deliveries everyday so...” which doesn’t really answer my question...I’d have to go back to the one in NYC but something didn’t seem right this time in boston.

Came here during opening day but the lines were 2-4 hours long in the cold. Came back a week later and lines were reasonable (30min).The decor is definitely Instagramable but the desserts were lacking. The cereal milk soft serve had a subtle after cereal milk flavor but it was weak when paired with the slightly salty cereal toppings ($5-6/cup, $1 toppings). The quake (milkshake?) wasn’t much better. The “Boston Cream Pie” initially started off fudgey but in the end, it was a mess considering that the cake pieces became a soggy(like wet cake mix).Cookies are prepackaged. :(( Crack pie was alright but the tiny sliver is not worth $6. There are definitely places that offer better and fresher sweets at a reasonable price. Employees were very nice though.

I was surprised by the negative reviews. This place is great! Based upon the negative reviews I think people dont understand what this place is. Its not a conventional bakery and at the same time it is. Christina Tocci is doing something original here. Its also worth noting that they are not based out of this location originally. I feel like both of those points are obvious but if you know nothing of this place, then probably its a surprise. Tocci is doing something different and over the top and yet with that traditional American bake sale quality that people love and romance. Shes going much more for the rough, human, and fun and pulling at your heart strings vibe, yet with quality. Dont expect elegant wedding cakes, or decadent French pastries. If you want something special though, this is the place to go. I first learned about it from the Netflix Series Chef.

The cereal milk icecream is delicious, albeit a bit too sweet. The birthday cake is drastically overrated. Dry,flavorless, and it had a weird sour flavor(I threw the slice out). The truffles were far to sweet and lacked taste. The milk bar pie was a disgraceful waste of money, small, hard, thin and PACKED with sugar, but no discernable flavor. However, the cookies, when warmed in the oven or microwave are dreamy. The corn cookie is to-die-for...a nostalgic flavor and aroma that brought me back to being a child eating cornflakes while watching cartoons. The blueberry white chocolate, compost, and marshmallows chocolate chip cookies were all very good too. I will only go back for the corn cookies and a mix so i can make them myself. Visited Milk Bar (along with &pizza) for a Yelp Elite event. There was so much hype when they originally opened up that I just had to try it. I got the cereal milk soft serve with cornflakes and a slice of crack pie. The soft serve was kind of on the savory side, which was unexpected, but still good. I think it would have been nice if they added caramel to go for a salted caramel sort of vibe? The crack pie was a pretty small slice for $6, had a sort of custardy/caramel kind of taste. Overall, everything was good, just kind of expensive so Im not sure I would return unless I was really craving something from here. Also, I would expect baked goods to be freshly made in house, like a normal bakery? But Ive heard that their baked goods are made in NYC and shipped to this location- not sure if thats every item or if its actually confirmed, but it would mean things arent that fresh. The line for Milk Bar far exceeds that of &pizza so it wraps around the table and plus, the layout of the store is a little weird, so its difficult to sit down at a table or use the counter and not feel youre in the way of the line or like the line of people isnt looming over you.
