Wonderful selection of the citys best chocolate pastries. As an indecisive taster, it was difficult to choose what I wanted as everything looked appetizing. Hard to settle on just few slices, but I decided to try their passion fruit mousse cake, chocolate raspberry cake, and an earl gray mousse cake. All the mousse cakes were amazing, and I especially like the contrasting textures and flavors of each distinctive layer. The combination of blueberries, earl gray tea, chocolate was also truly innovative and addictive.

LA Burdick was one of the first places I visited in Cambridge (a classic graduate school interview weekend stop), and one Ive come back to many times since. Its my go-to for indulgent chocolate desserts. Sometimes I come just planning to get a pastry, but cant give up the chance to get an iced sipping chocolate. The sipping chocolate is insanely rich and requires lots of water to get through. In the past Ive brought it home and diluted it with milk -- it goes a long way. Im usually a dark chocolate person but I do prefer their milk chocolate sipping chocolate (iced) as it is not as crazy rich and has a great milky sweetness. Their chocolate pastries are also delicious -- their chocolate croissant is great as are their chocolate chip cookies. Overall a very top tier chocolate shop that is a wonderful place to bring visitors to!

Do you like chocolate? Do you like dessert? Would you love to drink what very well may be the nectar of the gods? Well, I have the place for you!!!L.A. Burdick Handmade Chocolates is heaven on Earth to all the Chocolate fantastic all over the world. Entering the store you are taken back by the inventory, chocolate in all firms. Touched by master hands, crafted in the ways best tested by time to be the most appetizing all waiting for you to eat it.The tall gentlemen who were behind the register when I walked in was a charming gentleman who spoke with a European-est accent. He was very patient, willing to help, and pleasant to talk too.Now the pricing. Im not going to lie. This stuff is expensive, and for good reason. It all good. Anyone who has rattan from here will tell you it is to die for, or at least an arm and left. However, it is a worthwhile experience if only a rarely lived one.

We loved going there on a cold Sunday and taking advantage of the free parking. The hot chocolate was delicious and they offer several other delicacies in their cafe. You can also buy their famous hand-made chocolates which are expensive but make great gifts. Great place for a date or for a classy shopping trip.

We are visiting Massachusetts for vacation and drove and hour to visit per a recommendation. My son has food allergies so I simply asked the man who was working if he could make my sons hot chocolate in a clean separate cup to avoid cross contamination . He raised his voice at me and said “you think I would make it in a dirty cup” very aggressively, and glared at me, he continued to shake his head and roll his eyes at me while he made our drinks. I’ve never been treated so poorly by a stranger. All for asking to accommodate my 4 year old’s food allergies. I spent over $100 at this store and I left the store crying. Shame on you.

A total rip off. The chocolate was good, but not at what you would have to pay for. Not enough seats. The smelly guy who sat next to me was not happy, so he threw a tamper tantrum, as if he was still in a foreign country or something. The dark chocolate drink was rich, but it was bit bitter. The $6 chocolate cake wasnt as good as half price cakes nearby. The workers all seemed to have a chip on their shoulders. Why? I dont know. No samples, no matter how much I buy, over hundreds of dollars as gifts to local friends. I dont know what I bought because I dont know what they taste like. I dont know how long this place will last, considering we are now in the 21st century. This place can do so much better, no?

When you go here, you may ask yourself why are the hot chocolate portions so small!?, but then you taste it and realize that you are drinking directly from a river of beautiful molten chocolate. Pastries are amazing with very good quality chocolate. The ”harvard square” is their signature pastry made with dark chocolate ganache and its amazing. If your passion is chocolate, then LA Burdick will satiate your palate. On a cold wintry day our family was in the mood for a hot cocoa. This was during a tour of Harvards campus. Fortunately we werent far from LA Burdicks. There are several yummy choices, I had the milk cocoa and it was the best Ive ever had. My kids and husband had dark chocolate and loved them too. I also purchased some wonderful gifts in cute wooden boxes. They are known for their very cute sculpted mice and penguin chocolates.

We have only tried hot chocolate here. The hot chocolate is one of the best I have ever tried. They have single source of the month which is Cocoa procured from a specific country/region. This time we visited it was Bolivia. The cocoa was dark, delicious and just enough sweet. The service was quick. The store runs at a capacity as per the local city covid norms. Only a few people are allowed at a time. You might have to wait a bit compared to pre-covid times. But its all worth it. I would highly recommend it. They have stores at other locations as well.

This store in Harvard Square is truly charming, tucked in the deep neighborhood away from the Subway (across the library). But well visited by the students and locals alike. Great Ambiance, glittery ceilings create the totally different world for the grownups at night. The staff are friendly and very enthusiastic with lots of pride in their products. They welcomed us to the world of hand made chocolates of great animal shapes and fruit flavors for the holiday season. The recommended drinking Milk chocolate was to die for, and, we ended up buying 6 little boxes of chocolates samplers as gifts to the close ones and for ourselves before our flight following day, and, they adored them, too. I personally think the quality and tastes are more fun and better than Godiva and far better as it fits as a neighborhood place. Very Charming!

A friend ordered the signature white hot chocolate, which I’ve never seen before but it was like drinking a white chocolate candy bar, also worth a try. Speaking as someone who has had legit French chocolate, these arent bad. The macaroons are also okay (not great but reasonable). Minus one star for awkward separate point of sale machines for chocolate and pastries, resulting in 2 receipts instead of one. Also, the gentleman at the chocolate area seemed bothered when I asked to modify my chocolate selections so I left it as-is. This is peculiar because I was intending on spending more money (I saw the chocolate cigars after I collected my order) but whatever. He was otherwise very helpful in assisting with my chocolate selections just before they closed.

Tried the single-source (Madagascar) hot chocolate. Fragrant and fruity with aroma that reminds me of good coffee beans. Definitely top notch but I thought it didnt beat my number one hot choc in Poland. The large is too rich to finish, so leftovers went into the fridge. Next day, the hot choc solidified... it looks like a ganache/mousse so I just ate it cold. Surprise surprise, best ganache ever! Rich, smooth, and the most aromatic yet. So yeah, get yourself a large, and have leftovers for dessert. Thank me later.

I didnt know much about this shop when my friends brought me in. I was so happy to see that there was a whole cafe space with places to sit!The boxed chocolates are definitely pricey but there is a counter right by the front door that does à la carte pieces. The four pieces I got came to about $12, which wasnt bad (comparatively) and were VERY tasty and rich. I only ate 2 pieces and took the rest to go.The girl working the counter was very knowledgeable and friendly, and in retrospect I should have left her my number. Unfortunately, they have decided to keep their indoor dining tables open during a pandemic, and the store is only slightly larger than my walk-in closet. The General Manager gave me a bit of attitude when I brought up my concerns, saying, How are people supposed to eat with a mask on? They dont. Responsible store managers/owners who have small locations in the area are doing outdoor dining or takeout only. I heard directly from an employee that people who work their have tried to voice their complaints. Id hate to think that L. A. Burdick cares more about selling a few deserts a coffees more than their customers safety and well-being.
