Love this place! My wife and I picked up our instruments here and the staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. I wanted a tenor uke and wasnt thrilled with the selection the day I went by, but Brent ordered more and texted me when they arrived. I happily went home with this lovely mahogany Kala (right) a few days later.Needless to say, we will be going to Georgetown Music for any of our musical needs going forward!

The owner Brent is really nice and helpful. Helped me out with info and playing some cool guitars and amps he had. I ended up buying an amp from him and he took the time to pack it up well and ship it to my home for me. Coolest guitar shop in the area by far too really interesting selection of new and used gear.

Small “mom & pop” music shop with a variety of new and used instruments for sale along with their accessories. Definitely worth it to stop in and browse on any given day as used items frequently rotate through the doors. Helpful and friendly staff. The location is easily accessed (just off I-5) from all directions and street parking is available.

I had some special musical needs(wanted to rent a guitar for a few days) and they were happy to accommodate me. It was a used guitar that they had taken the time to set up really well. So,I got the impression that their guitar tech does first rate pro work! Great selection of equipment! Thank you Brent, Mike and Mike!

I just got a violin and wanted to touch base with someone who was knowledgeable with instruments. I got a cheep one and wanted to know what I could buy to make it sound better. I just wanted someone to tell me the basics of what I had and what I could improve about it. I ended up leaving with no questions answered and a cost estimation of $40 to file down the $5 violin bridge I had. I instead bought a shorter bridge on Amazon for $8. Also $20 for quality prelude strings. I pretty much looked elsewhere for everything I needed.

This shops selection of instruments is quite good for its size, carrying guitars, basses, their respective amps, and keyboards primarily, although youll be able to find some more obscure stringed instruments and other musical items as well. They do not have much in the home-studio offerings, so youll have to go elsewhere for interfaces or microphones. All in all, Ive purchased two guitars (on the same day, no less), several mic and guitar stands, accessories, and for the first 2 years Ive lived in Beacon Hill, it was my go-to shop for repairs and adjustments, calling them before Guitar Center or any of the the other locations.I had an unfortunate experience with the owner here, involving some work being done on my baritone guitar. The instrument needs custom strings for its low tuning, which I provided and left the tuning written on the order form. It came back with the low string tuned incorrectly, the strings wrapped the wrong direction around the tuning pegs, and the intonation was way off when I tried to fix it. I asked for a refund after two days of trying to make it work. The owner ultimately refunded the service charge after repeatedly implying this was somehow my fault (These custom tunings are guesswork most of the time) and that I didnt know my instrument (All reverse headstock guitars are wrapped this way, the way it was before was wrong. ). I asked him to refund the strings, and he refused, saying, Im already out $80 on the service, thats not my problem. So he is out $80. Im out $20 for the first set + shipping, then $20 for the second set, then $110 to have the guitar setup at Emerald City (who did an excellent job, despite wrapping the strings the way they had been on the guitar for 5 years before Georgetown Music enlightened me). Emerald City also treated me with the respect of a longtime customer.Im reminded of this incident from several months ago, and sharing it, because I will be going to Emerald City music to pick my guitar up tomorrow morning, and will likely spend an extra $50 getting cables, picks, and anything else in addition to their service charge. For most people, Georgetown Music will be a sufficient store for what they need, but Ive decided the extra 15 minutes and $30 is money and time well spent.

Unfortunately this business sold advertised on Ebay a piece of equipment as new when it was not new. What I got was a used guitar pickup that doesnt work. After having it professionally installed in my acoustic guitar I became certain that the pickup was faulty. Brent Carpenter refused to do anything about it. By selling me a faulty pickup I wasted about $250 ($100 on the pickup, $100 on the install and $50 to figure out that the pickup is faulty). Bad business.... Ive attached a picture of the Ebay listing.

I had purchased an acoustic guitar last November and I wanted a setup process performed on it. A friend and I went and visited the store and met Dave the instrument repair tech. Very nice fellow. I had asked him if I dropped off a new acoustic Takamine on a Sunday afternoon, could I get it back by that Saturday (5) days? I advised him I use it every Sunday at church. He said with enough notice he could get it done. After church the following Sunday I did drop it off and he said he would call me when it was done. I never heard from him. I called Saturday and got a voice message. So I drove to the store expecting my guitar to be finished and was excited to play it. Unfortunately, my expectation was drowned by Daves statement he got to busy and had a customer with an emergency. I told Dave lets review this. You said it would be done by Saturday. He apologized and said if I hang out in the area for 30 minutes he would try and get it done. I said no thanks, didnt have time to hangout and said we all have our emergencies Dave. This is a classic case of overpromising and underdelivering. Dont get me wrong. Dave seems like a great guy and seems like an adequate or even an expert in his trade, but my expectations was definitely disappointing. It is a cool store otherwise and the rating is not concerning the store and front staff.
