Fabulous customer service. I have been renting teeny violas from Music and Arts for 6 years. They have been wonderful at accommodating our needs, even though Ive moved several times, to states that dont have stores...so almost all of our transactions were done via shipping. They even restrung a violin as viola for me once, when we couldnt find a viola small enough. I eventually used our credit from renting small instruments to purchase three instruments. A couple years ago, I they helped me track down the best (for my skill level, anyway) full-size viola in Washington, and the quality is delicious. This month, I purchased two violas with Anthony using our credit, and he was amazing. He helped me find an upgrade, walked me through shipping, was quick to respond, and was very knowledgeable about my rental history and available discounts. Over the years, I figure I probably have saved two or three thousand dollars by using the Music & Arts program that grew with my three kids. I strongly recommend these stores for homeschooling and for personal music education. They really went above and beyond with me.

Evan, Anthony, and Amy. I love this shop, love them. Amazing customer service, just really kind, sweet people. They all deserve raises. Dont shop at stupid Guitar Center. Come to Music & Arts. Its my favorite music shop in Seattle.

While the gear is targeted primarily at band students, its all reasonably priced. The primary draw is the customer service. I have rarely run into stores where the staff was as friendly, knowledgeable and helpful as at this store.

Renters Beware!!Dishonest. I was seriously misled regarding the rental program. They string customers along (literally and figuratively), touting benefits of renting instruments, knowing that they are gouging you for 30% more than instrument is even worth. If you are a parent to a beginner, you are better off buying used and paying a bit for maintenance. Or buy an inexpensive starter instrument online. Better yet, borrow one!Our family moved. When I went into the store last May and told them we were moving overseas, they told me to continue renting and in a few payments, wed own the instrument! There was no recommendation to pay it off early and save 30%.Today, store manager Anthony was encouraging me to hang on a couple more months and it would be paid off in two $49 payments. After going around a bit, I asked if I could just pay it off today and be done with it. Sure, he said. With the pay-off-early discount, its $38.50 to close out your account. Its not even about the money!!!!!($98 vs $38.50) The only recommendation they will give is to keep renting. They are not on the customers side.I understand the benefit of renting when it might be for a short time, or your kid might change his mind, or is harsh on the instrument. What bothers me most is that they were very unclear and deceptive about the cost over the long term. Especially when I went into the store and told them we were moving. They led me to believe that my best option was to pay them extra through their inflated rental program.Buyer--or Renters--Beware!

I appreciate having a convenient, local source for music supplies (strings, etc), and not have to hit the mall or downtown, esp in emergency. Prices are reasonable and staff is consistently great - helpful, friendly, & knowledgeable. Tho Im more & more becoming an online shopper, love dropping into this store & seeing items marked down for quick sale. Last year picked up a cajon (box drum), was missing 1 screw-on foot (ez fix), 60% discount & has become a popular accompaniment for family & friends. Never wouldve considered one otherwise. And theyre open until 9p on weekdays!
