When I was coming out, I struggled to find something that would make me feel comfortable in my skin. Andrea at Twin Roses Designs was super sensitive and supportive. She took the time to work with me, going over the pattern Id chosen to make it work with my body, and created a gentlemans frock coat and vest that made me look like me and made me feel amazing. Definitely an LGBT friendly ally. Will return again and recommend to anyone.

I have been working with Twin Roses Designs for years and keep returning because of the high quality work and professional attitude. I am a few thousand miles away from Twin Roses HQ, but somehow TR gets the fit right every time. Ive ordered both stock items from her website (Jedi robes, cloaks, pants) and totally custom items. I cant post pictures of most of it because it was for projects that I dont own the footage rights to, but here is a shot from a youtube music video using some of her Jedi robes. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Originally I left no comment, however since you want to bring up another issue we sure can. You cannot change the agreement of materials used and be the one to decide to change when and with whom your hires will work after the fact. The work that was completed with the unplanned materials with help from extra persons that were needed for the new materials have been paid for their labor, when they would not have been needed with the original agreement, including the time spent traveling prepared to work when you turned them away. You have work done for the money received, and based on pricing for labor for the new material after being quoted for the other, quite a wonderful deal.Perhaps if I had not been lied about to others and accused of being the problem when I wasnt ever really a part of it at all, I would feel a bit less inclined to warn others.

Extremely unprofessional when questions are asked and then ignored. Refuses legitimate paying customers out of spite because of who they are. As a custom costumer myself, I never refuse a sale and am willing to work with anyone.

This owner has a bad habit of letting personal grievances interfere with her business as well as a tendency to lie to save face over any attempt to make things right. She chooses to be vague, then change agreements at the last minute and expect it to work. I would be cautious to risk getting hopes up for a beautiful custom piece to then have the disappointment if she found out I associate with those with whom she takes issue and decides to back out of a sale and cause me to miss my chosen even for that design.

Terrible customer service. Instead of resolving the issue, the owner becomes hostile and unprofessional whenever a problem is brought to her attention. Im very uncomfortable with her, in my opinion, highly inappropriate responses so far, and I certainly will not do business here.

Amazing work, worth the time and money.

I went in with rough ideas of what I vaguely wanted, a couple of reference photos and something like? and I dont know, could this happen? commentary, well aware that I would hate dealing with such vague requests were our situations reversed- she was remarkably kind and at no point made me feel like a burden or bothersome. She was super descriptive in what options were available and reasonable so that they would get to me in a timely manner, going to great lengths to get a picture painted for me so that I could be sure that we were on the same page and that she understood what I was hoping for... not an easy feat considering my lack of artistic vision.She also, knowing that my partner is an artist, went on to suggest special ideas so that they could bring their own vision to a piece created for them.We received our order quickly and it was exactly as we had hoped- with my pieces, one turned out exactly as described and the other turned out even more on point with what I had asked for then I had anticipated anyone being able to create from scratch (and from my descriptions/request).The piece for my partner has since been customized by them, and they adore it- something that wouldnt have been possible without the creative suggestion and consideration for my partners interests and artistic abilities.Ill 100% keep Twin Roses in mind for future costuming and clothing needs- and Ill recommend her services without hesitation to anyone looking for custom creations or specialty pieces.

Andréa at Twin Roses did my wedding vest ages ago, and a more whimsical contra dancing vest. I still wear them decades later. More recently Ive ordered a killer steampunk captains jacket, and a full Dr. Strange outfit that have been enjoyed for several Halloweens and (pre-pandemic) conventions. Great work, great service, great quality - all items are still in excellent condition.

People have recently provided star ratings here, not based on being actual customers, but regarding a personal matter between the owner and a former employee. False accusations against an individual who is decidedly an ally to the LGBTQ community, diminish the terms bigot, discrimination, and anti-gay. Those who are LGBTQ folks and staunch allies to the community need to reserve such language for moments of legitimate need -- when we need to call out actual bigoted, discriminatory, and anti-gay persons.As the parent of two queer adult children who have been repeat customers of this business, Ive had nothing but positive experiences. Andrea has consistently provided meticulous attention to detail, a listening ear, patience, and timely delivery. We could not ask for a more supportive and kind LGBTQ-friendly individual with whom to do business. Absolutely recommend Twin Roses Designs!

I made a purchase of an in stock item yesterday. An hour later the owner refunded me with no explanation. Since Im blocked from the FB page a friend of mine left a negative review and the owner dodged the question of why she wouldnt sell it to me OR him. She has since removed reviews entirely off fb and taken that item off the website so no one can purchase it.so WARNING do not do business here.

Really amazing stuff!

It took 12 days to get my priority shipment due to the covid-19 delays, but it was sure worth it! The clasp that I bought for the cloak that I made for my niece is just beautiful and is going to really make the cloakstand out! And I loved the history given behind the design. Thank you, Twin Roses. I couldnt be happier!

Ordered a custom doublet. Only took bout 3 wks or less. Got it 2 days after shipping. The quality of material and workmanship is unmatched. Also ordered white shirt with black embroidery on collar and cuffs. Both are beautiful. I very highly recommend twin roses.

Ive gotten a few items from Twin Roses at this point, and intend to get more in the future. That should tell you something about their quality, but let me elaborate...My first order was for a black tunic and pants, as well as a charcoal wool cloak. Andrea went back and forth with me via email for a long period of time while I determined what options I wanted, and as a result I received an excellent costume. The wool cloak in particular was exceptional, hangs beautifully and is exactly what I wanted.My second order was for a belt as well as a custom tunic (sleeveless, hooded with tails of a sort). Again, I went back and forth to finalize my idea, and ended up being blown away by what I received. Its still by far my favorite costume to wear to just about any event.Overall, even beyond their quality, I find their best aspect is their willingness to work with the customer. They want to know EXACTLY what it is you want, and theyll spend as much time as they need to accomplish that. This is something you NEED in a custom costume maker, it makes all the difference in the world.

Who ever truly knows these folks knows that anyone who left a bad review is either a troll or full of @#$%%! Especially if they cant provide any reason or proof for their slander. These folks are honest & sincere craftspeople. They work tirelessly to put out their quality creations and meet deadlines. If they cant do something they will tell you straight out (and you must understand and be prepared - if you dont give them notice or enough time to create a custom item they might not be able to get you what you want when you want it .. these are custom creations!) They ALWAYS go above and beyond and I can not recommend them highly enough.

I am on my second order with Twin Rose Designs. They are so fast! They respond quickly and their products are top notch! I was blown away by the fabric and construction. Their measurements are also accurate, so you dont have to go bigger or smaller to get the correct fit. Dont hesitate to order from them.

I ordered a custom melton wool cloak from this great shop for a winter coat. It fits perfectly and the material is top shelf.They kept in contact and asked necessary questions! They also made it and sent it out very quickly. I didnt expect to have it yet, but I couldnt be happier.10/10 would recommend. I will also be shopping here for other articles of clothing. Wouldnt try anywhere else. They have my business.

While I received the cloak I ordered, it just didnt feel right. It was too long, too heavy, the clasp didnt hold when I raised my arms up. So I looked up the email and it said all sales final. Lovely. So Im stuck with a cloak I paid over $100 for and dont want. I wont order from Twin Roses again. If something isnt right, you should be able to return it unless it was a custom order. Apparently, they dont agree.

After having ordered a Jedi tunic set from Twin Roses, I have nothing but praise! Great workmanship, prompt shipping, complete satisfaction. I am particularly happy with the texture of the variegated linen, it adds a nice touch of character!

Amazing quality work, and some of the best customer service I have experienced in the costuming industry. They created a custom Jedi for me, sent me pictures of the fabric laid out to show me what different combinations of colors and fabric types would look like, and kept communication with me throughout the entire process. I cannot recommend them enough. Will absolutely be getting work done from them again in the future

I ordered five custom Doublets for my wedding, they were patient and worked with me to make sure the Doublets were what I wanted and all fit. They turned out fantastically, we got compliments throughout the Renaissance Festival.

They do an excellent job on my period time clothing. They can do almost anything. The quality of thier clothing is top notch. I had several things made by them and they last. Andrea can take your concept and turn it into your dream outfit. You always in the loop how your outfit is coming along too. I never been disappointed at all. If you need anything from reenactments to fansty check them out.

Ordered my Jedi set there and got it amazingly fast (it turns out just after Halloween is a good time to place an order with them). They worked with me to turn y vision into an outfit that looks great and was legion-approved once I velcro’d the tabards onto the outer tunic. Materials and contruction are both very nice, and overall I couldn’t be more pleased.

I dont like to throw bad reviews out there but Im going to the trouble here so that you can avoid my fate.I had attempted to order a reproduction of a fairly simple shirt featured on the website and was informed that special orders of items not in stock had a one year wait list. I was notified every 4-6 months of my position in the queue. Over a year later I was informed that construction would begin.I asked if two small 2x2 tabs could be sewn onto the shoulders and got a one page wall-of-text screed declaring the plight of the seamstress and I was informed that my order had been removed from the queue. I was in complete disbelief. I have never seen such complete disregard and outright hostility towards customers before.

Recently (within the last month) I placed an order with Twin Rose Designs for a cloak that would go well with my ren faire costume. Their collections were amazing, and the hardest part of the whole process was making a decision on what to buy!I decided in the end to go with a stock piece - black wool cloak - but I was a bit hesitant about the stock sizes and lengths. I was SO EXCITED when it came in the post - less than a week turnaround! It fit perfectly, it was the exact length they specified, and I am IN LOVE. I was so thrilled that I recommended it to a friend who also purchased one for her ren wedding!The fit was perfect and exactly what was specified on the website. It matched the picture posted, and it was very good quality material and stitching. I know that I will be able to use this for years and years. It just *feels* durable.I think the real kicker was the hand-written note that came with my order. Even though I hadnt gone through a discussion over a custom piece, the owner still took the time to thank me personally for the purchase. It was very thoughtful and sweet.I have been recommending this place endlessly to my friends, and will continue to do so. Top quality clothing, and the whole process was so easy and pleasant. I have ordered two custom costumes from Twin Rose and have had nothing but an awesome experience.My first order was for me, and was a custom designed Sith Lord that I came up with myself. I had specific ideas about the look, the design and the materials. All of which came from how i wanted it to move in saber combat. Andrea, the builder, offered suggestions in materials and design based on her own experience and what I wanted as far as movement. Her suggestions worked perfectly and the costume is exactly what I wanted and performs the way I need it to. Pictures of it and me can be found on Twin Roses Facebook page.The second costume was for my wife. It was based specifically on the Diabolist outfit from Star Wars: The Old Republic. Again my wife had specific ideas about colors and materials. Andrea was able to build the outfit to perfectly match the stills we sent from the game and my wifes measurements. The costume once again fits perfectly. Andrea even made some suggestions on where to get a few accessories that would be needed to complete the look.The customer service Andrea and her team provide is above awesome. During the building process she replied promptly to all inquiries. The options she provided or suggested made sense for what my wife and I were both wanted. And she stuck to the time lines that she laid out. She sent picture updates as we requested. And sent us pictures when the jobs were complete.And when there was an issue with shipping they handled everything promptly and at no additional cost to me or my wife.I highly recommend Twin Roes to everyone who ask me for costume designers. I cannot wait to order my next one. just need to get some money together first.

Back in 2013 I order a skirt for my sith costume from a drawing that a freind did for me sent it off to TRD told me how long that wait was , if i recall 3-6 mounths she sent me pictures before she packed it up and sent it off to meonce i got it i was really impressted with the details that she payed attenchen to in the drawning with the stitching and the fabrics she used i was really happy with it and the wait was totally worth it
