I don’t normally take the time to review, but this experience should be known by any other potential consumers. I called several businesses in the area to price the same job and see where I could get the best deal. Out of 4 businesses in the area all using the exact same clutch assembly, the other 3 businesses ranged from $800 to $1,100. These guys wanted $1,700. I was in absolute shock because the part itself is only about $200, so they were basically trying to sell me on the idea that it would take them 10+ hours for labor. Auto Zone would probably give you a better deal than these guys and I thought they were the worst.Update/Response:After receiving a quote over $600 more than 3 other local businesses it should be no surprise that I am not a customer, but you can rest assured this is a 100% honest review and I absolutely did call your business and after 2 days I did receive a callback with that quote (every other business called back within a few hours, there’s another issue). It also can be proven because I have phone records that show exactly when I called your business, followed by several other businesses consecutively, and exactly when I received a call back from your business to include the duration of the call. Either you have no integrity or your failing at managing your staff, either way the fact that your first reaction was to question the validity of this review rather than rectify it shows your only interest was damage control to the public. I’m sorry to tell you it is no illegal to provide a Google Review, it’s called freedom of speech and this is a public forum. Do better and you’ll be better.

If i could give them a 10 I most definitely would , they have excellent customer service ! I walked in to get my ac checked and they walked me through the process price was very reasonable and i didn’t have to wait there all day i was in and out within a hour !!! I would recommend this shop to EVERYBODY !

My transmission failed, It was neutralizing in 3rd gear. They had me drop it off on a Monday morning and by the end of the day he had it diagnosed and said it could take 4-5 days for the repair. They rebuilt my transmission and he called me back in 2 days saying it was done I was blown away. Very professional and work well done in a timely manner would highly recommend these guys to anyone

Fantastic establishment, wonderful customer service. Had my car towed there and Don, the manager walked me through the after hours drop off process over the phone, Had a diagnosis the next afternoon and Don explained everything about what needed to be done and even gave me extra time to call him back another day to talk to my other half about the diagnosis. My car runs amazing now and he even scheduled a follow up check up to make sure everything was alright. Love the professionalism and would gladly do business with them again.

Had my 06 Buick Rendezvous worked on there a few months ago for suspension issues. Had taken it to another place prior and they worked on it twice, but werent sure what was wrong, but were willing to charge me for changing my CV axle on a guess. Cottman was able to not only find and correct the problem, they did it at a much lower price . Great work and very friendly. I wont think twice about bringing my vehicle there again . Thanks.Brought my vehicle again to Cottman, for an issue we had with hesitation. Told them what the issue was, and when it started. I had thought that it may have been poor fuel in the tank, but didnt say anything. Also had the check engine light on, plus I knew I needed brakes in the back. They did a diagnostic test, checked my brakes. They were able to determine that I only needed the back brakes and that yes, it appeared that my hesitation was from poor gas. Told me what product I could use for the gas, replaced the back brakes only. Again I was impressed that they did not try to suggest anything I didnt need and, yes after two treatments for the gas the car ran great. Thank you again.

Worst experience of my life..kept my vehicle for 5 years and it has more problems now then it did the day I dropped it off..vary unprofessional very rude on the phone.parts was stolen from my vehicle parts were added to my vehicle that I did not authorize. My vehicle ran when it went to the shop now the vehicle does not run there is electrical issues the dashlights dont even work glove boxes broken center consoles broken knobs missing from my AC for the front and rear.

Trust is extremely valuable!For me having a relationship with a mechanic you trust is extremely valuable. Rick and his crew from Cottman in Brandon are the one. You will be treated like family from the time you call until your car is finished. Every single time I have had a positive experience. When my car was under warranty I would take it to the dealer who would provide me with a laundry list of things they recommended. I would then take my car to Rick and that list would be 20% of what I really need, the rest would give me more time to make a more informed decision. Of course he was always able to beat the price of the dealer. With my my car out of warranty, I was looking for a independent shop not a big corp or franchises. I went to Cottman Transmission because my general mechanic said I had a transmission leak. And my car was shaking when I slowed down. I was worried I needed a new transmission. But Mr Wagner, owner and office manager, told me my transmission was fine for now. The shaking was my Universal joints on my drive shaft and they needed to replaced. He replaced the seal on the transmission andI was relieved it wasnt more. I was so glad I chose Cottman instead of the others in the area.. The service was outstanding. Mr Wagner picked up my car at a restaurant 3 blocks down. The location is great if you have to wait.I will bring my car back if I need service again.. It runs so smooth right now. Love it.

I have always received outstanding service from Cottman. On two occasions, they properly identified the source of oil leaks and made the proper repairs with superb results. I have one of my other vehicles at another place but they have taken almost 2 months and still havent gotten my vehicle ready. I intend to pick it up and have Cottman take a look at it.

Rick, the owner, is an honest businessman.He sent us to Toyota when he knew he didn’t have the machinery to fix my car. He knew we needed a module but not a new transmission.When the Totota dealership told us that they would need to replace the whole transmission we called their bluff and told them it just needed a new module. They wanted $4300 for a new transmission. Thanks to Rick we only spent $1450. He was right!Now it runs like new. Rick saved us nearly $3000!!! For that we are forever grateful.

I while back, I was recommended to this shop by a local Firestone Complete Center for my vehicle services. They were 100% spot on about recommending to go to this place rather than your usual high named transmission centers.I couldn’t be anymore satisfied for the services and repairs that I’ve been receiving from Cottman Transmission. I’ve just taken all my vehicles to them ever since.When my Honda Civic was in needed of a basic transmission flush and filter change (which required the correct type of fluid on hand that is specifically geared to all Honda type vehicles). They wasted not time in getting my vehicle in and out of the shop before midday. Or when my Jeep needed a overhaul fix on the rear transaxle because of a broken part and fluid leak. They had the repairs done by the next day.Fast, friendly, convenient, knowledgeable, and professional are the words Id like to use to describe this team and Rick (shop owner). When the transmission for my 08 g6 failed I asked a friend of mine who owns a auto body shop if he could recommend someone & I was not disappointed. The repair [tranny needed a full rebuild] was better than reasonably priced & was carried out in a much shorter time than I anticipated. It has been a few months since the repair was completed & there have been no further issues with the transmission. I recently returned to have a front wheel bearing replaced which, even with the shop being very busy & me bringing the car in with short notice, again the price was way beyond reasonable & the work completed in less than 1 business day. Mr. Wagner is very professional & explains the issue[s] & repair[s] that are necessary to get a faulty vehicle back on the road very clearly. I will definitely return for any kind of repair on any of the vehicles I own that is within this shops repertoire & recommend them to my friends & family.

My 06 Chrysler Sebring start to act funny, I took it to a few transmission Shop in Brandon area and everybody told me that I need a new Transmission $2000 to $2400, I decided to take it to Cottman Transmission to get it checked. They found a problem on my charging system that was malfunctioning my transmission. They replaced the alternator $380.00 repair and my problem was solved. Mr. Wagner, the owner, is a very knowledgeable and honest man. He didnt like to hear that everybody around was trying to sell a transmission rebuild for my problem. If you’re not going here, you’re simply not getting the best customer service and overall experience! Their pricing is absolutely fair and far less than a GM center or similar.I’m new to FL. I’ve been here almost a year and I didn’t know a mechanic. It’s always hard to trust a shop, let alone find one that stands out where you’re totally comfortable and when you do you won’t take your car anywhere else.I originally brought a commuter car to Cottman that I just bought with transmission problems. Rick called me and informed me that the linkage was loose and he would fix it but the ECM was bad in the car. He explained that he would only trust a Cadillac service center to do this install because of how intricate this process is specific to cadillacs. He could have offered to do it and take my money, but he wanted me to get the car running properly.As advised, I brought it to Ed Morse. I replaced the ECM. I realized the car I bought was a nightmare. After two consecutive weeks at Ed Morse I get the car back. I made one round-trip to Miami and back. The car started having issues again.I knew exactly where I was taking it. I was without question bringing it to Rick and his staff at Cottman. Rick is a pleasant and professional manager.I left the car with Rick. They checked it out and realized the chain, phaser sprockets, and nylon guides were awful. Him and I talked periodically and he called me to tell me he couldn’t find the 4 phasers I needed for a decent price through his vendors. Would have been $800 in parts from them. He mentioned I should shop around and bring the parts in because it would be much cheaper. Momentarily after that conversation, Rick went well outside his mandatory scope and sent me a link to buy all 4 phasers and the chain for under $400! At the end of it, I couldn’t even believe the total price I was charged for labor and some parts. IN A GOOD WAY! My bill was hundreds, yes hundreds less than I was expecting. Even when he told me over the phone to tell me it was complete and he said it was 16.8 hrs - before Rick told me the price I instantly was ready for some sticker shock. I was not! Unbelievable.While they were at it, I had them replace the coils, spark plugs, etc since we had the manifold off and the front of the engine ripped apart. After all the parts I ordered came in, they got right on this lengthy job at 16.8 hrs. They knocked this out flawlessly. I wouldn’t have cared if the car was there for a month because I know Rick and his staff will undoubtably make the right repairs, do the job correctly the first time, and they do not push to have you get things done to the car that are not needed! Win, Win, Win!It’s hard to find a place you can trust, let alone build that relationship for future maintenance and repairs.If you’re new to the area or you have been here for decades - do yourself a favor. Head into Cottman Transmission of Brandon and I guarantee you’ll be happy that you did.I got the car back last night and just drove it 550+ miles and it runs like a brand new engine. Towed my moms WV pasat there. They keep the car for two days. Then tell us we dont know how to fix the car. So pay another tow bill to have the car tow to wv. Where they know how to fix the car.

Cottman transmission was highly recommended to me from a friend. I have had a wonderful experience with them. My 2009 GMC Acadia transmission had failed on me 6 months after purchasing it. I was very upset, of course, and disappointed in the local GMC dealership that shoved this problem off as it began to show signs of failure the month before it went bad. The usual problems with these models, the 35r waive plate went bad, broke and destroyed my transmission. Thankfully the experts at Cottman were able to quickly diagnose and rebuild my transmission in a timely fashion! It has been over a month and I am completely satisfied. They warranty their work, which means a lot! I will always recommend them to anyone and everyone I know. Thanks again for all of your help!

Im no motor head. I know nothing of cars. I was referred to Cottmans by another service center that doesnt do transmissions, told my transmission probably needed to be replaced or rebuilt and to expect a bill over a thousand dollars (which I was prepared to pay). I got there, they checked it out (free of charge) and told me they didnt think there was anything wrong enough with the vehicle to warrant the invasive procedure which is a rebuild or replacement and returned my keys - again, free of charge. Integrity of that level is few and far between. I will definitely be going back to Cottman should I ever have any transmission needs.
