The workers did their best to keep the line moving. The books are sorted by last name of the author rather than subject and can potentially have you patrolling the whole store, which is an overall negative. Many books were out of stock. The enrollment numbers for the classes are out there so theres really no reason to be short stocked on course materials.TLDR; long wait with the potential to have to come back due to short stock of course materials.

They are so helpful!! I go to school in Missoula and our bookstore is a hot mess! Can’t is their motto!! Call the Bozeman bookstore and ask them “yes,” is always the answer. Books are shipped and I get them very fast. They keep you updated about your special orders, they’re the best!

The books are now arranged by authors last name instead of by course number… so now you have to look up every book author and hunt down your books.It’s truly amazing that these people managed to take a system that works and break it.

The MSU Bookstore is a fun place to visit. They have a large selection of MSU gear and other Montana gift accouterments. I love to browse their book section. They carry a lot of Montana titles that you dont see in other shops. If youre looking for a Bozeman hiking book or a Yellowstone wildlife guide or anything similar, this is the place to go.

Good people, great electronics department, but the 50/50 split of stock thats useful for students and just MSU branded gift shop merch.

I honestly love the MSU bookstore! It has everything a student would ever need! They offer a decent selection of books, art/crafting stuff, a small but decent electronics section, as well as a wide number of clothing items and MSU swag! They also offer a small selection of drinks and food!

They say they have the lowest prices on course materials. I bought a notebook for PHSX 220 there for $5.After three weeks it was falling apart. Went to Walmart and bought another notebook for under a dollar. Much better constructed.Their textbook prices arent the best either. 9/10 times I got a better deal off Amazon or similar.

This is for Blank Canvas, Kate and Isabella are so nice and helpful. If only they had new registers, its been over a year and they still have to walk into the bookstore to use the register there please Chad fix this!!

Great place to buy pencils, they also have some great snacks and a better deal on engineering paper than Amazon. Staff are very nice.DO NOT BUY TEXTBOOKS HERE. There is probably a PDF of your textbook online for free, or you can get an international edition of the textbook for 25% of the cost. In my time as an electrical engineering student I have only bought 2 textbooks and 3 lab manuals here. These were all custom books printed by MSU, so they were pretty cheap.I can not emphasize how much money you can save by purchasing International editions online or downloading Pdfs. Just be sure to order international editions early since shipping can take a while (1-2weeks).

What a great book store!They had a wide variety and selection of items! Clothes galore, Camping and fishing supplies, they probably had skiing supplies! All sorts of outdoor gear!The best part was I got to spoil Me Little Mame who is in her freshman year and we were visiting, by buying her someMSU garb! LUV U MAME!!😘😻

I really enjoy the bookstore. The prices are pretty good, as well as anything you need for college is there. As well as gift letters for the family. It is very pretty inside and well organized. Some of the isles are small but the customer service is exceptional. Very much worth a visit.

Super store: music cd for few bucks, rare books, interesting findings each time I visit the store. There is great selection of books for any kind. And my favorite- used games.

The store carries lots of fun School Spirit items! All items were very expensive! The cost is supposed to defray the cost of books but after buying items in the bookstore there would be little money left to buy the school books.

Great prices, great service. This is the best place in town to come for art supplies of all kinds. They have nice, quality, budget and premium products for so many different disciplines! They have a nice workspace for some of the hands-on things you may prefer to do in the store. They also have the most wonderful open-stock office supply section - my kids love coming here with me for a new pen, watercolors, or a neat set of markers.

As far as art supplies go, great selection. I also love the the fact they offer individual markers,etc. Faber castel prismacolor...

Going to the bookstore is worth it just to see Pat.

Staff were quite snappy with me.. I am not American so the whole concept of a bookstore on campus baffled me! The prices were crazy expensive (that could just be American education?) There was a lot of unnecessary odd stock in the shop

Would have been nice going in to grab a few things without being constantly watched by the workers. I understand about theft in stores, but that was ridiculous. Maybe teach them not to make it so obvious.

Everything is overpriced. I would recommend looking at amazon for the books and any of the other local stores for Bobcat gear. Walmart, Target, and Bob Wards all carry similar items for a less expensive price.

The worst book pickup/return Ive ever had the displeasure of visiting. No selling records even for the semester, no digital copies of receipts, and they even managed to lose my books until after classes started. Just get your books online if youre at MSU.

It is a college bookstore with great people and awesome service. If you like MSU then they have the apparel you are l looking for and obviously the books if you are a student...if you are figuring out where to get your books from this review you are already in trouble.

Ton of college gear a bit pricey though.

The staff working in the text book section can be quite snappy and rude to students asking questions. Prices are quite high and students often get screwed on the custom MSU text books since they cannot be sold back and a new one is used each semester. Often out of required textbooks and almost never enough is ordered. Last resort now for buying textbooks.

Most of the employees are knowledgeable and friendly making shopping for textbooks easy. However, the bookstore lacks cellular service since it is underground in the back but there is no WiFi either. It makes price comparison hard, I understand that they need to pay their employees but sometimes their prices are significantly higher than other sellers.Short rant:When I purchased books this fall I had a rude cashier. She seemed peeved that I walked up to her register without being called, despite her texting on her phone. She then proceeded to shove my textbooks into a dinky plastic bag rather than one of the nice yellow plastic ones. The most annoying part was that the bag was so thin that it ended up breaking from the weight. Also, there is no way she was out of bags since everyone else on campus coming from the bookstore had the yellow bags.

This is my second go-round at MSU. I left in 1992. I am finishing online in another field. Not a lot has changed with the pricing in that sometimes, its reasonable and sometimes, its really high. The long lines havent changed. Not all required books are available here. But, what I really appreciate is the website. It will send you somewhere else if there is a better deal elsewhere. They really saved me this semester. I live 80 miles from Bozeman and had one book I needed to get during a blizzard. So, I ordered it. It was too late in the day for them to ship it that day. They shipped it the next day, which was Friday. UPS delivered it to my door on Monday, despite it being a holiday. And, the shipping was less than it wouldve cost me to drive to Bozeman and back plus pay to park at MSU.

Decent store that keeps getting worse. Instead of books and critical school supplies lets sell camping gear and sweatshirts. Oh and what supplies they do sell they never restock. Pretty much useless. Plus prices are so expensive. Just go to staples or online. Should be named MSU robbery and gift shop

Its the Montana State bookstore. Good for Montana State gear and school supplies that you need right away. The downside? Its a campus book store, so it can be pricey.

If you are an MSU student DO NOT buy anything here! Buy your books through Amazon; for two semesters now books through the book store would have cost me about $550.00 while the same books on Amazon cost me $230.00. School supplies are also over priced-- youre better off going somewhere like Target or Walmart.

Its an OK college bookstore. The place it really shines is the apple computer store. Great advice and help from friendly staff.

Very clean and organized, easy to find most stuff but more pricey than anywhere else for supplies, gotta gouge the college kids who are already paying an arm and a leg to go to college.
