Waited 45 minutes for a routine contact lens fitting and left before being seen. Dr. came out once and instead of nicely providing his staff an update he proceeded to argue with the staff instead right in front of me. This was highly unprofessional. I will be waiting for my regular eye Dr. to return from leave before going back as my previous experiences have been great.

I have been looking high and low to get my Designer Frames repaired. I walked in off the street and they took them right away and I was out the door in no time. I really appreciated the service! They made me a very happy person! 🙂

I stepped into this opticals after seeing good reviews. But i had a poor experience. may be the staffs got changed or Covid situation changed people mind set , am not sure! but the lady in the reception was very poor in explaining things. they were keen on quoting high cost getting money from my pocket.! even though I had insurance with good coverage.

This is the 3rd time I have had an appointment at this office and every time I go the entire staff is wonderful and the doctors are very knowledgeable and provide great explanations for everything. If you are looking for a new eye doctor I would definitely recommend you trying this place out. They are the best.

Great people, great atmosphere. I asked a lot of questions and everyone was patient with me and answered all of them. They helped me pick out some really good glasses.Best part was my previous doctor told me i could have Lasix surgery because my eyes were to dry, that is not the case. The doctor went over everything with me. It was a fantastic experience.

Im visiting Boston from Denver, and tore a contact lense. I was so so relieved when the employees here were so pleasant and accommodating. Not only did they give me a trial pair pf contacts, but also a travel kit. These are kind genuine and sincere people!

While in Boston on business, I found my self in a jam (torn contact with no back-up or glasses). I called and left a message and was called back immediately & assisted well before the eye center even opened for the day. Even though this wasn’t my usual eye center, the service I received was beyond exceptional. I’m not sure if my usual optometrist would have gone as far to help me. Thanks SO MUCH!

It was great immediately as I entered, by Lori. This was Friday before Labor Day Weekend and I wanted to get frames for a prescription I already had. I had read that they do a great prescription lens, where some places are not accurate when just doing the glasses.Lori was helpful with me in choosing the right size, style and coloring for my new pair of frames and a discount with my insurance card help lower the cost - that a back up pair of fames will be purchased when I go back and pick up the frames in a week.Recommend - friendly and helpful staff (they work well with each other balancing the customer service if needed), clean and a nice frame selection.I have never had progressive, but sold on them, since I would only need 2 frames instead of 4 - I will follow back up on how those came out once I pick them up in 10 days

Over the many years they have provided me with the best care. They are sincere, knowledgeable, and experienced with their craft. I have found them to be of the upmost concerned about your eye health-speaking from experience for the past 20 or more years in dealing with the staff.

From my initial exam, conducted by an associate, to the in-depth exam by the wonderful Dr Sol (would that all doctors and human beings were more like Dr Sol) and post-exam glasses fitting with Lori, I can’t speak highly enough about the expertise and warmth of the staff at State Stree Eye!

Great office service and support, The only issue I have is that I can buy my contacts on line at a much cheaper price. State Street needs to understand this and trim their margins in order to be competitive.

UPDATE: I would like to change my review to 5 stars. Lori Epstein, the office manager, Julie, and Dr. Salomon all were very accommodating. After two and half weeks, I called back because my prescription was off. No one made me feel uncomfortable for my previously, less than stellar, review. I am fully satisfied that they met my needs and were able to fix my lenses. Thank you, all, for going over and above to make sure I was satisfied with my experience and my purchase. I will be coming back. Kind regards, Lori S.________________________________________________I was a patient of Visual Eyes and followed Lori Epstein to her new place despite having loved my previous doctor whom I had seen for 17+ years. He was not asked to make the move. The woman at the front desk was efficient. She asked me to fill out forms but the store itself is very small and it was congested as I had a 9:20 a.m. appt. The first person to assist me was very discouraged because the puffer couldnt read my eyes correctly. It seemed an inordinate amount of time before the puff would come and I thought it was because I had blinked each time. I decided not to have the image scan because I was miffed that the woman at the desk didnt inform me on the phone that it would be an addl $35 because insurance didnt cover it. This is information they should let you know ahead of time. In any event, I had my chin on the rest as she had instructed. After 4 times the machine couldnt register my right eye. She seemed very stressed and asked me if my forehead was on the headrest. I said, No, Im very short-waisted and I can barely get my chin on the correct place. She signed heavily and then adjusted the machine. Apparently, this was something I should have known. So, I didn’t really like having to see additional people right up front. My previous Dr. would have done this as part of my regular exam much more efficiently, I might add. Also, I dont seem to jell with Dr. Chesnick as other patients do. He was very thorough with my eye exam, but he seemed to want to push bifocals even though I don’t need readers. I’m cost conscious and certainly didn’t want to pay extra for special lenses. He seemed rather ignorant about of the cost of the lenses and just shrugged off the extra money like it wasn’t any big deal. After placing drops in my eyes for the dilation, he actually stuck his fingers in the corners of my eyes (presumably to keep my eyes closed) and held them there as his nails dug into the corners of my eyes. He wasnt wearing gloves and I could only imagine the bacteria that could have been infecting my eyes. Surely, he must have washed his hands, but still. I had never been physically touched in any previous eye exam. Unfortunately, I will have to go back because after a week my glasses are still bothering me. I feel like part of my head is bulging out because he corrected an astigmatism that had previously “gone uncorrected” he said. Not sure what that meant. It had been over 2 years since my last eye exam. In any event, I only give an average rating because Lori is always great to work with, but I will be looking for a new doctor.

I have been a patient of Dr. Andrew Chesnick at State Street Eye for the past 25 years. During that time -- a pivotal period for my eye care -- I have received consistently excellent treatment. This included a diagnosis of epiretinal membrane and a referral to a renowned retinologist at Tufts Medical Center, where I had corrective surgery. I unqualifiedly recommend State Street Eye for its range of skilled care and state-of-the-art technology.
