Delicious coffee. I love to brunch here because they have an actual coffee shop too so you can get real espresso and lattes. The eggs Benedict are delicious and it’s located in a very cute part of south end. Highly recommend a stop here. Only thing to caution you about: the biscuits are pretty unique and definitely not my favorite. They tasted a little stale and were difficult to cut through or chew. Everything else I loved.

This is one of my favorite coffee shops in Boston and has been a neighborhood favorite since they first opened. In addition to serving some of the best coffee you can buy, they have plenty of sweets and treats. The menu has grown to include about a dozen sandwiches and lunch options which are convenient to eat at the cafe or to grab-n-go.The restaurant, which is open for dinner and brunch is a good place to meet up with a friend or another couple For dinner, Im partial to the burger which is consistently good. Weekend brunches at The Buttery tend to book quickly so definitely make a reservation if you go.

This place is a gem, and heres why:Almond croissants to die for!!!I also had a breakfast burrito for my lunch - so I am very happy that I could get anything on the menu, even after breakfast. It was prepared with care and was delicious. The wait was negligible with counter service. I also had an iced chai latte and had choices about the type of product in it: milk, oat or almond. It was also delicious.I ordered and ate inside and enjoyed that the indoor tables were separate from the area for ordering, grab and go, and pick up.Additionally, there is a lovely bench outside to wait for your friends to arrive and there were many other outdoor table available for people to enjoy their goods. Finally, excellent customer experience, with kind, inviting people that were happy to assist me and very courteous.

First off, the lady that was taking our order was not very helpful or friendly at all. The online menu was a bit hard to found on their website, she was making a face that she was annoyed me trying to look for it. She informed me that it would take some time for the food to be ready.40 minutes after I placed the order I went to the counter to see what was happening there. Turned out our food was ready and was just getting cold out there. I heard only - “sorry, we got backed up” from the same employee. And now look at the potatoes that I got.Frustrating experience. Inefficient service.

Honestly just not the greatest dining experience all around. The service was extremely slow, it took us ages to even get asked for our drink orders which then took an additional 25 minutes to even come out and all we ordered was 2 iced coffees. Staff wasn’t very friendly and seemed very all over the place. Cute area but there are definitely places around the corner with much better service

Food was very good, fresh. The staff are professional and courteous which is appreciated especially during the Brunch rush when every white girl is annoying the staff asking “how much longer for a table?” Every five minutes. The host was attentive and informative, and our waitress was very patient with us. Everything on the menu looked so good so it took us a minute to order. Ambience is calm and relaxed. The restaurant part is small, but it keeps the noise level down. Will definitely be back.

This review only concerns their hot teas (5 stars for food and coffee beverages)1. Very poor, unflavorful tea choices for a supposedly upscale, sophisticated, yuppified, urbane locale2. Asked for a green tea, given a black tea (they were not busy)3. 30 min after purchase tea was still boiling, painfully hot, had to eventually throw away because 10 min after that could still barely sip the unprofessional hot beverage (different teas should be steeped to different temperatures... this was tea murder), and break was over...:(Nice try South End Buttery

Brunch was excellent here! The basement dining area was comfortable and intimate, but I would highly recommend getting a reservation since the space is smaller than most. We started off with mimosas (chose from Orange, Blood orange, or Grapefruit) and then had their Buttery Bakery Basket (blueberry scones are a must-have)!- The Breakfast Sandwich: arugula lightens each bite of fried egg all in the brioche bun and the home fries are crisp, halved fingerling potatoes 👌🏿- Western Omelet: greens made this omelet fresh!

I ordered steak and eggs for brunch and the cut of the steak was horrible. Veins running through the middle of the piece not allowing me to cut into it and I could only try to chew around it. Eggs were cooked correctly at least but with that cut of the steak it was not worth the price. Not a pleasant eating experience so although I’ve enjoyed some delicious treats and meals from here I had to give this a 3.

Tucked in off a main artery, South End Buttery is nestled halfway up on the corner of Clarendon & Gray. Offering fuller meal options than other nearby cafes, what they lack in quantity, they make up in quality. Quiches, cold salads, meatloaf, & fish dishes are a few of filling eats to choose from.I went in to satisfy my sweet tooth. Although baked off the premises, I was told by the friendly staff that cupcakes, and cookies are delivered fresh daily...and I was not disappointed. For a midweek afternoon, close to the end of the workday, the place was practically empty. However, I think it was due to the prevalence of an abundance of cafe and bar type places rather than the store itself. All the better, to have a great place to go to and avoid a crowd.

My wife and I ordered from their special Valentines Day menu and i just wanted to give kudos to their staff and management. Seems their kitchen was inundated with orders but they contacted us and explained the situation ahead of time and went above and beyond to make sure we got our food in time for dinner with some extras thrown in. Really very impressed with the customer service on this front. And the food was delicious of course. The lava cake and the braised short rib were a huge hit.During non-pandemic times, I work nearby and have been going here for years. They have a turkey cheddar sandwich that’s a favorite among my coworkers and their chocolate chip cookie is one of the best around.

We stopped here around noon on a Friday. It was pretty busy but they moved pretty quickly in getting our food and coffees. Unfortunately, the food and coffee was average at best; very unremarkable. I had the avocado toast and a vanilla latte. The toast was mediocre and, somehow, they managed to serve a mediocre coffee too. My daughter had the breakfast burrito and said it was very bland too. She ordered an iced vanilla coffee and it came with chunky white stuff floating around; the taste of the coffee was mediocre too. Overall, I would skip this place and try somewhere else. There are too many other great options in the area to settle for mediocre.

The milk was not steamed properly either. The ricotta fritters with nutella were good (but isn’t anything, when it’s coated in nutella). Great place for brunch! Wasnt that busy when we went but space for seating could be an issue during busier hours. We made reservations the day before and sat at a large table near the bar. The staff was courteous and extremely accommodating when we had a party that was a bit larger than expected. Our server was also very responsive. I ordered the Steak and Eggs. Overall, the dish was pretty good. My only gripe would be the steak. While done medium rare (how I like it), too much of the surface of the steak was burned so it was really bitter.

Yum! Friendly staff and delicious brunch food to go! We placed our order online which was the way to go for sure. Order early for quick service! Convenient pick up location in their Cafe, though parking is tough. Most people were double parking which I guess is the Boston way! They are terrific about accommodating allergies and special requests. They made a perfect medium egg which turns out is something most places cant manage to do! And those hash brown potatoes are worth the trip alone!!! The pastries in the case looked delicious and had I known how good they looked, probably would have ordered one. Since we had paid online and I just ran in to grab our order, I didnt get anything, but I think I should have! Enjoy!

She gave no other advice or help.We then went to their take out side and they were very nice and helpful.
