We went tubing out to the Castle Ford Rd access on the New River. This place is really amazing. Highly professional and flexible staff that were super friendly, kind, and helpful. We arrived a little late to our expedition and realized we wouldnt have time to complete it before an appointment and they easily let us reschedule later in the afternoon. They credited my account for one member of our party who couldnt make it. All in a laid-back, enthusiastic manner. They have staff to help you into the river, staff at a rough part of the river, and staff to help you get out. The bus was right there when we were out of the river and ready to take us back to the checkpoint. The river was clean and perfect for tubing gently. Two hours was perfect timing. The river is rather shallow at points, but there are deeper areas to get out of your tubes if you get too hot. Dont forget sunscreen and water shoes!

We absolutely love this place for water tubing. We’ve been to many places in NC and TN, and this by far is the best place. The people are so friendly, and the process of checking in is smooth. I think we went five or six times last summer to HME, and each time was as good as before. I highly recommend this group.

We choose to canoe during our stay, I picked High Mountain based on reviews. We usually go canoing a few times a year where we live which is approx 7 miles. The staff was incredibly kind and awesome. I was hard pressed giving this 4 stars the trip is only 2.5 miles long. I wished there were more areas to stop and have lunch or beverages. For the cost I expected more? Or at least a longer canoing session, everyone was like really its over, and even jokingly said can we go again? It wasnt really a joke though just wanted more time on the water. If youre ever in Southern Indiana and you enjoy kayaking/canoing check out Cave Country Canoes-Blue River and prepare to have some fun!

We had the best experience with high mountain expeditions. My girls took me here for my bachelorette trip & it was the best time Ive ever had. Zack was our raft guide & he was incredible at making us feel like pros on the water. He made us all super comfortable for it being all our first times. Issac & Mark were the best bus drivers, they kept us entertained on a bus ride that wouldve been miserable without them. They were all around just awesome guys. I will definitely recommend high mountain to all of our friends & we will definitely be back!

Love these guys! Fair prices and nice tube rental options. We got rained out about an hour into our float today, and they offered to let us make another reservation free of charge. The employees were all so friendly and helpful. Thank you guys for all your help!

Beautiful locale and good service. You pay, you get a tube and a ride back to the launching area once you complete your adventure. My family (two preschoolers) did the two hour trip which is about as long as they could stand. They were able to get out and play in the shallow water.It would be lovely to have more information before hand. Like suggestions to wear water shoes, to bring a waterproof bag for your phone and snacks to bring in a cooler. Would recommend to vacationers with a morning or afternoon to kill.

Relaxing, pleasant tubingOur family went tubing (in July 2020) down the New River with High Mountain Expeditions. The tubing down the river itself was very relaxing. It takes about 2 hours, the water is very calm and cool. The weather was pleasant. All in all very relaxing. At the end High Mountain staff collect the tubes and direct you to waiting vans that take you back to the starting point (a trip that takes about 5 mins).The online sign up itself is quite straightforward. However the information on the website could be a bit better organized. We had to make a couple of phone calls to clarify the the meeting point (no, they do not have a courtesy pick up as stated on the web site) and get info on changing clothes (there are a couple of restrooms).While supposedly there are departures on the hour we just saw a steady stream of people starting their trip down the river once they were checked-in.Although the pickup van driver offered everyone a disposable mask they did not practice/enforce any social distancing guidelines. Fortunately there were vans leaving every few minutes and we chose one best suited for us. Also the trip back was only about 5 mins.All the High Mountain Staff we interacted with were professional, courteous and helpful.

Awesome trip in 2020 labor day

Had a Fabulous time. My whole family enjoyed themselves. Within the reviews, it mentions a low bridge, I’m claustrophobic, so I was a bit apprehensive; we went when the water was low, and the guides explained the best way to go under it, and I was able to go under like a champ. It wasn’t bad at all and it’s not really a bridge but someone’s driveway that is prob only 6 ft long, so Under and out quickly!!! It was a WONDERFUL experience!!

We had such a great experience tubing here and cant wait to return. The staff were all great, and we loved that they are taking all precautions that are necessary due to COVID-19. Thank you for a fun day in the sun!

We had a group of 7 adults and reserved a tubing trip the day before over the phone without major problems. Initially there was a typo in my email, so I didnt get the confirmation or the location where wed take off from, but it was all resolved during a second call.When we got there, their setup made for a fast and painless electronic signing of the waiver forms. It didnt hold us up at all.The tubing was very relaxing and took about two hours. There was help getting through under a pretty much collapsed bridge and at the end.There is another rafting company that has a pick-up point before High Mountain, Wahoo, and that was confusing and could be mentioned better before the tubing trip.Overall Id do it again, since it was a lot of fun!

Loved the river tubing! Cannot wait to try other expeditions!My family and I went river tubing for my Dads birthday and we ALL loved it! My six year old had an amazing time and we will definitely be going more often. The prices were amazing and the staff were very kind and helpful.EVERYONE IN THE AREA NEEDS TO TRY!! I originally got confused about the address and ended up being late to the actual location. When I called to let them know we would be late, they were very understanding and accommodating. Super impressed!!!!!

We had booked a trip earlier in the season only to be surprised by rain that day, the manager running the show gave us no worries and assured we could re-book for a later day that summer. When we reschedule for a 1 o’clock put in we got to the put in a bit later than expected and they kindly put us in worry free. Great staff and a great float, we will definitely be planning another trip here in the future.

Loved the ride!!!!!!!! The staff were nice as well. We had to pull out to the exit but that’s not something to have a fit over because it’s just the natural works of the river.

Ive enjoyed HME tubing the last few years, but if that one family doesnt fix their stupid UTV bridge, we wont be back. My sister in-law nearly sprained her shoulder under it one time and my grandmother almost freaked out due to claustrophobia. Its becoming too big a hazard for a relaxing tube trip. Im going with Zen tubing soon if they havent done something about that bridge by next time.

Staff was helpful and friendly. The website says family friendly and the staff may be but other river riders are not. The day we went tubing (Saturday) there were quite a few folks swearing and boozing it up. It may be better during the week so we will try that and see.

We did the 9 am kayaking trip. The staff was extremely nice. Getting in and out of the river was really easy. It was a great trip down the river and made for great family time. Will definitely go back.

Where do I start?! What a great experience from booking our trip to the very end. When we called to make our reservation, the gentleman was patient (with my 500 questions) and polite. The guides were friendly and knowledgeable. We showed up and got right in within just a few minutes of arrival. At the end, we only waited a few minutes to be driven back to our car. The trip was peaceful. The floats were well maintained. The scenery was amazing. We’ll come again next year! Highly recommend!

Super fun trip tubbing with our toddlers for the first time. They were easy to get in touch with and answered questions happily. Can’t wait to go back!

Good service and friendly staff. Only 4 stars because half way through the ride you have to get out of your tube and climb over slick rocks where the broken bridge is...one of our party fell during this part.

Our group of 7 had an excellent experience with HME! We rented canoes and kayaks for an afternoon on the New River. All the HME staff with whom we interacted were friendly, and they were very accommodating when we asked to adjust our numbers of canoes vs. kayaks. We did the 3-hour option which included what we lovingly referred to as the limbo bridge (which required us to lie flat in/on our boats to pass under it) and, in our case, a variety of weather conditions. The stretch of river we traversed was gorgeous, passing by farms and some impressive mountain homes.

BEST FIRST TIME RAFTING EXPERIENCE! This company was Fantastic! We had no issues booking our trip. They stuck to the itenerary as stated on the website, so I knew just what to expect. Lunch spot was great. They served sandwiches, water melon, cookies, lemonade. (my picky eaters were happy). The bus ride was entertaining with cheesy jokes along the way. 😂 Some only slightly inappropriate for little ones. Lol. Our Guide, Ashley was awesome! I think she could tell I was nervous and she did all she could to make sure we had a fun and safe experience. At the end there was a spot to change into dry clothes and grab a snack. My children ages 8 and 11 had a wonderful day and said they can not wait to do it again!

Awful Experience!!! In a haste my family and I decided to book with this company and made a terrible decision. Not only was it pricey but the staff was rude. Worst of all after a day of rafting we had to load into a bus with our soaking wet clothes. We were pretty tired from rafting and then had a very uncomfortable stuffy bus ride back to their base over an hour away. DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY

Paid for tubing on September 28, and they canceled my appointment with no phone call or email as to why my appointment was canceled. Very disappointed cause I was looking forward to tubing for the first time.

We had an awesome time rafting with high mountain and their raft guides! Very friendly and accommodating crew. We were going to go with wahoos (and actually paid for wahoos) , but they were so rude on the phone and in combination with terrible reviews... it wasnt worth it for us to go out on an expedition and have it ruined by rude guides. So happy we went with high mountain and we should have booked them first. Totally worth it! Tha K you guys! Keep it up!
