Had a factory recall done there, and when I left, the check engine light came on when I was driving home. Friendship Honda said that they would not even cover the $60 diagnostic fee if I brought the Honda back just to diagnose and figure out what was causing the light. The service advisor hung up on me...Friendship Honda lost a loyal and valuable customer...will not refer them to anyone. Modern Toyota just gained a new customer.

Bought a used vehicle from them about 6 months ago for my wife. They only had one key FOB. Ford charges over $300 for them so, it being my wifes car, I was in no hurry to get another. Last week, they sent me the second FOB. It looks brand new and works perfectly. Im so impressed with Friendships attention to detail, I cannot say enough about them!!Ill be back!!

I was on vacation in Boone and had Emission light come on in my Honda CRV. April at Friendship Hondas service center was fabulous! She was so friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. She patiently answered all of my questions with thorough explanations and kept in contact to let me know when my car was ready. When I picked up the car, April explained exactly what was done and reviewed the timing of the next standard service appointments I should be aware of once I returned home. April and her colleagues at this dealers service department were terrific!

After my experience simply trying to negotiate with this dealer, I wouldnt accept a giveaway at this point. Ive never encountered such dishonesty, rudeness, and chauvinism in all my times buying a new vehicle. Its obvious the game here is make your customers believe theres no alternative, and this place knows it all. Their GM was by far the most unprofessional individual Ive ever had the displeasure of speaking with. The good news for me, and I want them to know is that I proudly walked away with my desired CR_V today in the color and specs I wanted without ANY help or expertise of this dealership. They lost a sale and made it clear they didnt care!

We were traveling and began to have car troubles just outside of Boone. Our car was only able to go 35 mph but we made it to Friendship Honda. They were so nice! They had a technician look at our car right after their lunch break and he diagnosed the problem. The necessary part was in stock and they fixed it. We were so impressed that a busy service department was willing to work us in so that we could continue on our trip. The dealership is very dog friendly and made sure our dog had water, too.Thank you so much to Friendship Honda!

Not a great experience. We were interested in a car and the salesmen refused to talk about the overall price of the car and instead tried to mislead us by extending the payment plan. To get general pricing info we confirmed multiple times they would not run credit and they lied to us and now we have a hard inquiry on our credit for a car we were kind of interested in. They have shady business practices and will mislead you.

Id rate the service department a 4 and the sales department a 1.Two main issues:1) They added features onto the car listing that the car didnt actually have (for instance, a backup camera). This inflated the value of the car beyond what it was actually worth, causing issues with my loan. I trusted the vehicle listing to be accurate so didnt confirm every feature. It ended up costing me more. This seems like it should be illegal (false advertising)? May consult a lawyer or one of those investigative TV news episodes.2) They added additional cost (another $700) onto the vehicles listed price when they learned I was bringing my own financing. In their words: We have to make up the money we would have made if youd financed through us. Well, if you dont provide the service, you shouldnt be paid for it. That doesnt seem too difficult to understand, but apparently this is standard practice for them because I now (after the fact) see other reviewers on here commenting that theyd done the same thing to them.Buyer be warned!Edit: In response to Friendships response... Im clear that there are things listed on the cars window sticker that dont exist on the car (e.g., rear view camera) and that I heard the salesperson clearly when he explained why the amount he brought back to me for the car itself (not all the additional fees) was more than was listed on the cars window sticker (that there was $700 added to the price because I was bringing my own financing and Friendship wouldnt be getting the additional money for doing the financing).I will add some positives though: the salesperson was helpful and friendly, I was given about what I would have expected to have been given for my trade-in, and we do like the car itself (the stuff thats on the listing but not on the car isnt really stuff I care about... I just dont like the price being inflated with those non-existent items).

I had an excellent experience here. They were so friendly and helped me make the right choice for my needs. Gary Hoopingarner was amazing. He was patient, as I was undecided which car to buy. He went over all the details of the vehicles, fuel mileage, and features. We test drove a few and I settled on one. Once the sale was done he sat with me after hours to go through everything and make sure I knew how to work everything on the vehicle before I left. Top notch salesman and experience! I recommend to anyone looking for a Honda in the area.

I have never purchased a vehicle at a dealership and was a little nervous with this being my first time that I was going to get haggled into buying something that I wasn’t happy with. However this was not the case. I absolutely love my Honda! Hunter was our salesman and he was incredibly knowledgeable about every question and concern we had. Bought a used car from this dealer and the process took too long - at least 4 hours.Was told if I sent my current car tag information, they would transfer it. But asked for payment for a new tag since I did not have my original tag with me.Sent everything they needed to transfer and was told they were going to issue me a new tag and I could go the the highway department and make the change. Explained over several e-mails and phone calls that I was told they would transfer and I wanted a transfer not a new tag. Continued to follow up requesting information - was even told to go ahead and put the old tag on the new purchased car - WHAT? (Ok so the former car tag with the former car registration and its okay to use that tag? Not where I live!)I tried calling the general manager twice - left a messages - zero response.So three days before my temporary tag expires I again made another call and ask for the status of the tag. Guess what - was told I would need to go to the highway department and make the transfer myself.I am sooooo disappointed. Car dealers do this everyday - I dont know why it was so hard for this dealership.Do not recommend these guys at all and wish I would have checked the reviews.As to the response from the dealer. I asked to speak with the general manager and left messages with the answering service. If the GM did not receive my messages then that is an additional issue this dealer has with their customer service.I did receive calls from who I believe is a sales manager. I talked to him prior to this post and after this post.

We are very disappointed with the buying process at Friendship Honda. After researching online, we came across the Lexus GX which they were running an internet special, with dealer financing. They also listed in the internet listing that they were looking for used cars and would pay $300 over any Carmax appraisal. We had just gotten a Carmax appraisal in the past 7 days so I thought that was great! I went ahead and did the pre-approval process through their website, was approved as a well qualified buyer which was supposed to be sent directly to the dealership. We thought Easy Peasy - all we have to do is test drive the vehicle and if all is good we will be set. We were wrong.We took the vehicle for a test drive, came back to the dealership and gave the sales representative our Carmax appraisal, he took our information for the financing application and after waiting for over 30 min, he came back with our purchase offer — it included almost $900 extra for what he called a top coat they put on the vehicle (which was not advertised anywhere at any point). When questioned, he said the internet listing said they could add on dealer accessories (I did not argue this at the time, but the listing does NOT say that). The trade in value came in $500 LESS than the Carmax appraisal (which was $800 less than what the internet listing provided) and the interest rate was 1.24% higher than our preapproval. Completely unacceptable (especially given our credit worthiness). After questioning these things, he went back to the financing department again. We waited another 30 min.He came back - he can’t do anything about the extra $900 which wasn’t advertised, but they will pay $5500 for our trade (still $300 less than advertised) - and they were able to “talk” with the bank and get us down another .5% (still .6% higher than our preapproval — which again was done THROUGH THEIR WEBSITE.) the salesman kept saying it was probably because the year and mileage on the vehicle — I pulled up again and sent him the paperwork showing that the prepapproval was done on That EXACT vehicle because it was from their website. At that point I told him my husband and I needed to walk outside and talk about it alone because I did not feel good about what was going on.We walked out to the car to talk, and the salesman came out to share the “great news” that he had talked his manager into doing $5800 on the trade. Would that make the deal? Well seeing as $5800 was what was previously promised online, I’m not sure why that was ever even a negotiating point. Ultimately I told him I needed to either get the interest rate within .4% of what we were preapproved for and/or an explanation from the bank of why the sudden change in rate. After talking to his manager - they were unable to do any of those things.I am extremely disappointed and quite frankly feel like we were given the bait and switch. Adding $900 to the advertised price for unadvertised accessories (which after more research amounts to not much for than a good wash and wax) - having to fight for a trade in value that was already promised - and then giving no explanation of the ever changing interest rates - made this process one of the worst car buying processes I have experienced. It’s very unfortunate because it started with a lot of promise.If Friendship would have honored their initial commitments) at the very least the trade in and not adding an additional $900) we may have been able to work out a deal - but unfortunately sticking to original word because it’s the right and ethical thing to do is not part of their business practice standards. Purchasers: please use caution and read all terms before signing.

My husband and I just moved to the Boone area with our very new, very nice Mazda. It is a front wheel drive car, so we were hoping to trade it in prior to winter for a 4wd/AWD. We only had the car for a year, so there were minimal miles or wear and tear.Initially our experience was great. We were able to test drive the 2021 CRV we were interested in, but the salesman beat around the bush to tell us our trade in value for our current vehicle. We sat down at the table together and the salesman presented us with an offer thousands under the KBB value of our car. My husband pointed out we needed more, so the salesman returned to his manager to discuss better deals. He returned with a better offer, but still not ideal for our budget. This back-and-forth happened a few times. At this point we had been there about an hour and we both told the salesman the deal was not going to work for us. My husband even said hed had a long day at work and was ready to go home. The salesman continued to push for a better deal and told us to wait while he got his manager.His manager came back and, without introducing himself, said hey I thought we had a deal!. We had not made any promises to anyone and had been very candid that we were interested but nothing was urgent. The manager continued to tell us how theres no market for used cars (we have done our research-there is). When my husband brought up the fact that used cars are still desired, the manager became defensive and pushy. At this point, my husband stood up and said thank you for your time, we are going home. The manager shouted at us across the lobby Youll never buy a car again!.I understand the car market is rough right now but being met with such hostility when really we just wanted to leave was ludicrous. We just moved to the high country and couldve been loyal customers for years to come, but will never buy from this dealership.

This is a shout out to Chris Toliver at Friendship Honda of Boone.... The suspension coil suddenly splitting clear in half under my 2001 Honda Odyssey was the final straw. I dragged my beloved van around town trying to find collision places that could somehow repair or slow down the rust on my car, and after they all crawled around under it pulling out majorly large pieces of rusted metal that were steadily falling off the bottom, I decided it was time for a new vehicle. So I did my research, test drove my choices, and dickered on the cost. Heres my new ride with Salesman Chris Toliver at Friendship Honda who was an absolute dream to work with and who ended up having to buy my old van to seal the deal. Chris is a wonderfully patient salesperson who works so hard to find just the right vehicle to meet the individual needs of his customer. Honda is lucky to have him, and Im lucky to have found him. (Heres hoping this Honda will get me past the 200,000 mile mark like my old one did.)

Let me just start by saying these are the most dishonest people I have ever dealt with in my entire life, not only did they take mine and my husbands trucks for a price that was way less than what it should have been, they lied about the price of the car and tacked on almost 7 THOUSAND dollars than they had told us the price would be. So they took our trucks, and sold us a 18k car for almost 24k. Stay away from this business at all cost, go support your local dealers that are smaller and HONEST. Because these are a bunch of lying no good people. Soooo yeah! We went to Linville Creek Auto Sales in Vilas NC and dealt with Mr. Chad, he was super honest and was wonderful and is getting us out of the mess that Friendship Honda of Boone got us in.

My partner bought his Honda Civic from this dealership, and today we brought his car in for just an oil change. We assumed that since he had spent so much money with them that it would be the most affordable option, or maybe even cheaper than another shop. We made it very clear in person and on the phone that all we wanted was an oil change. Nobody explained that it was a package deal with the tire rotations and everything else until after all was said and done and we were asked to pay $80. Hollye did nothing for us except explain the situation away. She did not offer any type of remedy and myself being someone who has worked in customer service for seven years, I am disappointed with this service. The odds of us ever bringing our cars here for service again are very low and we wont be recommending it to our friends or family.

Love our jeep Cherokee. I do however need to warn people. The internet discount they advertise is not applied if you dont go with there lenders. Customers beware if you choose to go through your own lender to purchase because if you do you DO NOT GET THE DISCOUNT THEY OFFER. We went through our own bank because we can get better lower rates and were told we cant get the internet price by the salesman because of it. But we found the vehicle on there website on the internet so it should apply because we did shop online.. This is just wrong period. They couldnt get us 2.99% from there lenders but our bank did. So be warned because this is not stated anywhere in there website. So in good conscious I cannot rate 5 stars because of this issue. Sad because we have always loved dealing with friendship and have purchased several cars from them over the years and always been treated fairly.

We were visiting Boone from 4 hours away. We hard a clicking sound in the passenger side tires of our older Pilot. We took it to Friendship Honda early the next morning just to have them tell us if it was safe to drive. They diagnosed the problem and fixed it within the day even though they already had a full schedule. April was so nice and helpful from the first phone the evening before to the time we picked up the car. The cost of the repair was very reasonable. I never felt like I was treated as an out of towner!

Bought a 2019 Ford f150 with 14,500 miles on it. Great looking truck..... However when they sold it to me it has 3 good year tires and a Cooper. The Cooper tire being 2in in circumference smaller. Causing the transfer case to lock up after I used my four wheel drive. Leading to me needing a whole new front axle. 3100 on a new truck. But its its not our fault even though the reason Ford will not cover it is because of the tires and the only reason why it will fail was the tires..... If I was you stay away from them.

Theyre polite. Thats about all I can say. The quotes for services are very high. We asked for after market parts to save money on spark plugs because our van was stuttering in idle. Dealerships dont offer warranties on after market parts, but our budget didnt give us much choice. 1 week later weve got engine lights on the dash. We took it back it and SURPRISE our after market parts failed. What are the odds that brand new parts are faulty, unless they broke them putting them in? Anyway, the repair cost was 3 times higher than what they quoted us at Alray. We can literally pay for a weeks worth of van rental and the same repair at Alray for the same cost as Hondas estimate. And now Honda wants to charge a $70 diagnostic fee to tell us the new parts THEY just put in are broken. Back when we had a Toyota, the Toyota dealership had a complimentary car rental for overnight repairs, so we know when were getting quality care at a mechanic and when were not. We wont be back.*update* At Alray they fixed all our car woes for a FRACTION of the price, and the problem wasnt even what they said at Honda! Honda would have replaced parts that werent broken and then charged us for those parts AGAIN. I am beyond disgusted with Honda now. Downgrading to 1 star since we paid $70 for a diagnostic that was WRONG.*update #2* Ignore Hondas attempt to appear repentant down below. I called and they had absolutely nothing to offer me. Not a future discount, not a refund, nothing.

We drove 2 1/2 hours to check out a Hyundai Santa Fe at Friendship. As soon as we got out of our car we were greeted and taken right in. Our salesman John, was hands down the best!! The transaction as far as trade in and sale was smooth. The Finance manager was superb and got us in and out very fast. The entire place was super clean and had a lounge area. Had a huge stain from the famous Chick-fil-A Polynesian sauce by my 3 year old tot. On the roof of course of my mamas Honda CR-V while borrowing. Used car needs a lot of repairs. I bought a used car from Friendship in April. The price was fair and the car came with a 90-day warranty, which was one of the deciding factors for purchasing from Friendship. The first time the check engine light came on was 30 days to the day of the purchase. I contacted Friendship to ask how to get the car diagnosed under warranty and was basically told that whatever the repair was, it wouldnt be covered because I didnt purchase the extended warranty. (I have this on email if anyone needs confirmation). I did eventually get the information I was looking for, which was that I could take the car to any ASE certified mechanic. My local mechanic fixed the issue and the warranty covered the $700 repair minus the deductible. The second repair set me back $300 a few weeks ago (just a month after the warranty expired), and the car just got out of the shop for the third time and this repair was $1589. So, the fair deal I got on the car purchase is negated by the thousands of dollars of repair costs since then. The car only had a little more than 60,000 miles on it at the time of purchase, so perhaps I bought a lemon. The dealership did a thorough inspection and you never can tell with a used car, however, the reason for the 3-star rating is that I had to contact the dealership several times by email and phone when my newly-purchased car needed the first repair. Emails went unanswered and I had to reach out a few times just to ask about the process for having the problem diagnosed. Before purchasing the car, at least 5 different salespeople called me to sell me this car. They were all very nice and the purchase process was easy. After buying the car, though, I may as well have turned invisible and inaudible.

Very poor communication was talking with them about a SUV. Made an appointment to come in today get there and car was sold day before. Which is fine but the sales guy who I had communicated with could have let me know. I talked with him at 3:30 for VIN day before and he couldn’t even take time to email me it sold. Also not first time this happened to me there. Almost exact same thing happened a couple years ago got there and a managers friend bought the car I was wanting again wasn’t told until I arrived! I called and spoke with John Cook about the vehicle I was interested in. He was very helpful, and we practically did the deal over the phone. I drove 118 miles one way, to the dealership and was very pleased with the staff and the vehicle. I received a call from Don a day after the deal was done, to let me know he had found me a even better deal with a different bank. Even after the paperwork was done and the truck was mine, he continued to look for the very best option. Great people to deal with. I would definitely travel 236 miles to do business with them again.

Excellent end-to-end experience. We were interested in a car that came in a limited color/year finding it at Friendship Honda. We were going to need to travel from Texas to pick it up. John Martin did a great job of describing the vehicle condition, getting us photos and providing additional information. We were able to fly out at a pre-arranged time, execute the paperwork and head back to Texas. We had 1 snag, but John and the dealership went out of their way to make it right. If I could give zero stars, I would. So there are some places you just cannot do business with. Friendship Honda in Boone is one of them. I’m not ranting because I didn’t get my way, vehicles are made and sold daily. Myself, as well as a friend, have both had negative experiences there over the course of 18 months (please note below experiences are not necessarily the same visit, this is over the whole time span). The only difference is she loved the vehicle and decided to purchase. Me, I’ll not go back. Let me give examples.1. The salesman called me honey and baby, even on the days after I left when he would solicit calls to make sure I hadn’t changed my mind.2. The same salesman walked out in a different trip and asked me my name. After stating I had spoken with him a month or so ago he says, ‘I don’t know how I could forget such a beautiful face’.3. My friend, wanting a truck was given keys to a truck she wasn’t interested in. It was later told in the community that she had been given keys to ‘what they thought she should drive’. This is believed to be true because they questioned her and her daughter on why she needed such a big truck.4. When going to test drive a vehicle, I was asked was I sure because that was a manual transmission.5. When talking business, rather than a realistic counter offer I was talked down to, ‘like a girl’. Mind you, I had a check ready to roll.Just because a girl walks in doesn’t mean she isn’t car savvy. I can promise I have looked into a vehicle, how long it’s sat on a lot, what the approximate price is that an auction will bring (not to mention travel time, employee pay and gas to haul), any open or closed recalls and the wreck history.And they called me ‘Lisa’, over and over. They had a copy of my license, Lisa nor anything like it is in my name!*side note: while I was waiting their receptionist couldn’t work an Excel spreadsheet so I made it total her calls for her! You’re welcome!-LeAnn-Update - soon after this review, the GM, Gary ask that I contact him. We spoke at length about the negative experience and he assured me that this was not the environment that he wished to nurture. He assured me that he would address the issue(s). I would like to say that I have faith that should I wish to spec another vehicle at this dealership, I would feel completely confident and comfortable reaching out to Gary personally for a wonderful customer experience. There are still good people in the world that wish to offer honesty and integrity.

Have given this dealer two tries to earn my business. The sales staff are courteous and respectful, which is good. But the numbers they produce (especially on Leases) are far higher than anywhere else in this state. I do not know if it is because they are in a smaller town and need to make more money on less cars to sell, but taking an hour trip to Hickory or a two hour trip to Charlotte saved me $180 per month (yes, per month, same month terms, mileage, AND perfect credit) on average.Example: Was looking at a CR-V EX-L AWD. They quoted me $510 month, zero out of pocket. In Charlotte, I was able to get that same trim for $325 per month. Mind you, perfect credit and same terms. I even tried to negotiate and it got me no where. We get out cars all from the same place at the same price.When you try to tell the Finance guys you found a better deal, they will say That dealer is lying or They are just trying to get you into the door. When there are two other dealers making a similar offer way less than you guys, its hard to make that inference. Especially when I sent them the quote sheet.

WARNING: SCAM! DONT GO HERE.Dont go here. I went here for a simple airbag recall and thought I would have them do my state inspection while I was there. My car had passed inspection only 3 months previous, but due to some lateness on my part I needed to get it done again. The mechanic at the dealership came out with a list of things that he claimed were wrong with the car and told me he had to fail me. Half of the things he claimed he was failing me for are not even ON the NC safety inspections checklist. Basically, they thought they could make quick buck by failing me for problems that dont exist for my car. Absolutely disgusting malpractice.*Update: 3 days after Friendship Honda failed my car for inspection, it PASSED at a REAL mechanic shop without ANY work being done to it. After talking to the mechanic and some others here in Boone, I learned that Friendship Honda is actually known in the area for running this kind of scam.SEE FAKE LIST BELOW↓

I’m from New York and I bought a used Honda CRV from there this past March. The staff made every step as smooth as possible. They took their time with me and went over everything and answered all of my questions. We was able to come to an agreement on a great price and was able to leave with my car the same day. They also sent me my front plate bracket to my home in New York, 3 days after which was great as well. This is an all around great dealership to buy from. Our Honda Accords axle broke Friday morning. The car was towed to Friendship Honda. They gave us a call back Friday and said the car would probably be ready on Monday. Saturday morning they called and the car was fixed and could be picked up. They FIXED our car and did a complimentary multi-point vehicle inspection. H. What a great experience!! Jonathan Aponte (sales) and Matthew (finance) were excellent! I bought a 2014 Honda CR-V and Im in love. I had not financed a car since 2006 and I was a bit nervous since I had been driving my Toyota for almost 14 years! I purchased a 2018 Honda CR-V from Friendship Honda of Boone this past weekend. This is my third CR-V from these guys and let me tell ya, there is a reason I went back this time. When I contacted Ricky Styles about purchasing this car, he made it an easy process from start to finish. He got me in this car at the price I wanted. And let me tell you, the 2018 CR-V is super sweet! His professionalism is the BEST I have experienced. He had my paperwork processing when I arrived.  Went over the features of my new CR-V in detail, making sure I was super comfortable operating it. Extremely patient and was NEVER pushy at all. I have never had a salesman do this much for me in the past. He knows his product thoroughly and is extremely knowledgeable  He even checked in today to see if I had any questions. As the name would imply, friendly staff and a willingness to work with vehicle prices make Friendship an acceptable place to purchase a vehicle. The finance team at Friendship is its only drawback, and perhaps this is due to naivety, because I simply dont understand why it takes two hours to finalize a purchase. This place is great! We just moved here and the staff was super helpful in getting us the proper all terrain tires just in time for the first snow. We also had our cars inspected at the same time. I am visiting Boone on vacation and had a problem with my Honda Fit; the shroud under the engine had torn/come down. I taped it up as best as I could and called Friendship Honda hoping they could fit me in on a Saturday. Worst experience. Very dishonest. Said they could do the transaction over email and phone and the next day said I had to drive there, but that wasn’t the worst of it. I told them we were Pre-approved through West lake and they said they could only honor the Internet price if we went through financing through them. They tried to charge me $5000 more for the car and when quoting me the payment it was higher than the interest rate on my Pre-approved and if I went through financing with them it was 27% interest!!!! Bait and switch. The next day they tried to say the would give me the internet price and go through Westlake if we drive all the way there??? Really??? You are all dishonest and you think I am going to waste my time on a drive there??! I even emailed this to the general manager to call me?” And have heard nothing. STAY AWAY from this place????
