I just placed a delivery order, and the online option just let me select seasonal. The employee working called me to check what I wanted, and spent a lot of time with me and went to a lot of effort to make sure I got exactly what I wanted and I cannot thank you enough for all of your effort. I have lived in Bloomington for over 50 years and I’ve been a customer of big red for several decades. They have consistently poor customer service, incorrectly priced items on the shelf and then you get a big surprise at the cash register, long waits because they don’t have enough staff to handle busy times. Maybe that’s because they don’t give their employees a decent wage? A shallow empty shell of what it used to be long ago. Better to just go to Kroger.

Unfortunate experience.I tried to find a certain scotch myself but wasn’t having any luck.I asked how the scotch was categorized, if it was alphabetical, by price, origin, etc. I was told that it was by price… but I pointed out they had $30 bottles on the top shelf mixed with $80 ones. His reply was “if you don’t like it then shop somewhere else”. I was simply trying to figure out how to look for what I needed!The selection might be better than your usual place (for rye and bourbon), but for the price and customer service… I’d rather just order online from elsewhere than receive a hostile response to an inquiry.

Wow. Just wow. I have nothing to compare it too. It has the most diversity and volume ive ever seen under one roof. You like beer? Try the one of the hundreds they have in stock in the back. More into wine? Pick a grape. Any grape! They got that! And they got a Scotch wall too ...a whole wall! Thats not all tho. Its not just about the liquor. There is an instore tasting area, the staff must have been raised there and learned all the liquors like we had to learn reading and writing. The prices are normal if not lower and its right there in the middle of town. Go there. Get something to drink. And if this review convinces you to go there. Good. Your welcome

Amazing selection, friendly staff

$0.10 part on keg tap fell off and they wouldn’t give back $50 deposit for keg tap. They still tried taking it back so they could fix it themselves and steal money from me.Ended up buying the replacement part off eBay($0.10 + shipping) and fixed it myself in at most 5 seconds. Tho I’m happy I don’t have to be bothered putting a ridiculous down payment anymore when getting kegs now that I own a keg tap.

This store was 75% wine. I was looking for craft beer and they only had one side of one isle. Not much beer selection compared to other stores in other larger cities, but decent for Bloomington. The ability to buy some individual cans was nice. The guy at the counter was friendly and talkative.

One of my favorite liquor stores in Bloomington! This one in specific is very large and has wide range of options. The beer cave is HUGE and probably has what youre looking for, and then some. The atmosphere is great and very...bouji liquor store atmosphere, but they have lots of bargains as well. Everyone was friendly there!

The biggest and best of the Big Reds in town (or so Ive been told). I can confirm that they have a large selection of both cold and shelf temperature craft beers. They also have a lot of other alcohol available.

Great selection, one of the few places I can find Bel Haven Scottish Ale. This store has everything you could possible want.

There are many Big Red stores in the area, but this one will have the occasional unusual beer. The staff has been very helpful every time I stop, and the beer selection is one of the better options in the area.

The best and only place to find rare and special release Bourbons! So I missed this years official Bourbonfest where Big Red lets their customers order in bulk -or even by the bottle -their bourbon for the year at a pretty sweet rate they cant get anywhere else. But this is also when they save their special releases for all the stores and its one of the few places you can actually buy anything from the VanWinkle line, BT Antique Collection, Blantons, Old Forrester, Taylor Special Releases (plus special release whiskys and whiskeys, too) by doing the lotto system . Youre given a ticket upon entry, but - depending on how much you spend that year - you may have other opportunities to obtain tickets especially if you make it an annual thing. Ive been to A LOT of pappy specific lottos and this is the first where they had so much, one couldnt even count how much of what kind they even got! Im not taking a tabletop full: no, this is Indianas largest liquor chain and this is their entire allocation, so as you can imagine, its pallets, not boxes....So the odds of actually obtaining a bottle to purchase are so much higher here than anywhere else, but just like every where else, the ridiculous hunt for Pappy has brought more and more people out every year. So once you order your bourbon, you turn it in to the manager of your preferred store and do not have to pay up front .They call when its ready, but just as I had hoped, a lot of those tools didnt pick up their orders and I had the opportunity to buy it at their Wine fest a few weeks later! They apparently also do a lesson attended WineFest at their anchor store in Bloomington and this year, they actually just advertised they were lottering off their extra bottles of Special Release Buffalo Trace Bourbon - including about 4 bottles of each in the AC and then a few each of 10,12,13, and 20 year van winkle....So, I wondered about the other special releases that were sure to have gone unpurchased and my dreams come true when I got there and saw they had EVERY OTHER BRANDS SPECIAL/LIMITED RELEASES ON THE SHELF!Imagine my shock when I spot a 2018 Angels envy Special Release that has been on our wanna try one day if ever we find it bourbon list since 2012 just sitting right there as bourbon snobs focused only on the Pappy they were gonna win!!! And it didnt stop there! They had the Bookers Noe Little Black Book (and on sale mind you) and I greedily grabbed 2, the 1910 Old Forester from their pre-prohibition line which I hadnt even came across in a liquor store in all of America and again, got it $20 lower than MSRP, the special release 6 pack of regular BT Bourbon bottled/aged on concrete floors and then 3 bottled /aged on wood floor so you can taste the difference, the Jeffersons Reserve Limited Releases like Pritchard and Groth (which I had just missed the last bottle of either :( , Jeffersons experimental wood collection, Whistle Pigs lusted after $519 bottle of Bosshog as well as their special releases for 2018, Elijah Craigs limited , etc, etc! So my point is, I was able to buy bourbon that normally Id have to have had a ticket to win that day with the exception of Buffalo Trace. (Ill also note they didnt have any Blantons or other brands who release their lines in the spring). And... They also had sale prices pretty similar to Bourbonfest last year, but it wasnt on every bottle though.But, they did have and still do , have some of the states best deals of the year on some of the best whisky you can buy that doesnt require a special occasion to warrant the opening. For example, deal of the day there had to be on Russells Reserve for $22 instead of 44-49 and Peerless Rye Whisky for $39 instead of their price of 149. So get in there and pick either if those top shelf Bourbons for any whisky lover in your life bc we travel all around the US and have never seen prices that low on such fantastic whisky. So instead of paying $300 for essentially a $100 bottle of whisky , pay $40 for $100-150 bottle!So by the time the drawing happened

Its the big one! They have the most of all local big reds. Plus I found a bourbon bottle Ive been looking for, for a long time.

So much liquor, so little time

Prices are a bit high, good selection. Wouldnt go here on a tight budget, but the location is easy to get to from the West side of town. Only other problem is trying to exit the parking lot during the evening rush can be difficult, and you will today find yourself waiting for some kind soul in traffic to block both Lanes so you can get clear of the lot.All that said though, the staff is friendly most of the time, and will happily help you haul out your purchased goods.
