I was going in for a drink while i waited for my train, but the guard wanted me to leave my backpack on the floor by entrance to the store . When I asked if he or the store was going to replace my work laptop, hes response was he wasnt responsible . Nope!!! what a rude rule to have they already let shoplifters walk out with there own items with no consequences and now want me to give my personal property away aswell . Sad to see target completely lose customer service.

I think they do well for a store of their size, but every time Ive went, theres always something on my list I end up going to another store to find.

Target at Downton Berkeley is awesome, I find watermelon and a clean store that they wear mask there and sanitizing constantly, they are nice and happy and helpful too

This Target is very helpful and handled my return process with ease.

Dont waste your time here unless all you want are processed and frozen foods. Household, personal, and apparel selections are abysmal, the store is tiny and cramped, and they have 1 checkout person compared to the row of automated checkout kiosks. Youre better off trekking to Emeryville for all your shopping needs.

Small but cute store w very limited selections/inventory

Its a great little Target chock filled with the essentials and shine goodies. Its not a full size Target store but they maximize the space by sticking it with a great assortment of items. The staff was friendly and the store is well organized. Think Walgreens with a broader selection and better quality stock.

Small store with an extensive offering of snacks, health and beauty items and household goods. There is also a limited selection of produce and groceries. Several self-checkout stands make it easy to get in and out quickly.

This Target is so small, but has the essentials (including food) and even a few clothing items. It was pretty quick going in and out, but some items are scattered around. For instance, you can find sunscreen in more than one location. I would come back here if needed.

A regular target with food and basic day to day supplies. The lines can be pretty long (around 5 minute wait to checkout), but it is not that bad if you have the time. The times I was there, it felt overly crowded and the isles were a little small in my opinion.

The store is small and the selection of items sometimes is not great, the place is very convenient, the prices are good, especially when using Target Red card, and the quality of their store brand items, especially for groceries is great. The only drawback I have found since the store opened a couple of years ago is that due to its size the selection of items, especially non-grocery items is very limited.

Having this place downtown next to the BART Station is a Godsend. Great to be able to pick up some basics real quick while youre downtown. But, the line can get really long.

Selection is more limited, sometimes confusingly so (they had my brand of shampoo, but the conditioner?? What kind of post-apocalyptic hellscape is this!) but the convenience is great.

I loved them until this employee ruined my visit ASSUMING I was stealing those nasty sandwiches!! I went in to look for something to munch on and I had a sandwich in my hand it was gross no cheese so I wasnt getting it my purse was falling so I fixed it and had the product in my hand still and I can feel someone just watching and its an employee and I felt disrespected because Im black and all eyes on me like Im stealing. Thats really offensive to me because not everyone with colored skin steals if I wanted the sandwich I would have paid for it and went about my day and if he wasnt so guilty about feeling like Im a thief then instead of arguing he could have just said sorry maam I didnt mean to make you feel that way. People that know me know Im a sweetheart and its sad when people put you in a category because of your color. I seen walk past others without double taking but he had his eye on me and tried to slick like I cant feel being watched...

Wow! Its amazing how much stuff they can cram into a mini-target. Everything from sportswear to candles to spaghetti sauce to iPhones. Cashier was using two stations to check people out, which confused customers because it seemed less efficient. When I wasnt asked if I wanted a bag, I requested one, and then was told that will need to pay 10¢ for one next time. Maybe cashiers are a little overworked and spread thin?

Conviently located. The employees are really nice and personable and have speedy checkout service. The pharmacists in the pharmacy are friendly and take the time to get to know each customer by name.

Oh look a Target Express, lets go have a dander whats inside! Oh its just like a CVS with Target slapped across on it except the Target prices!This place is really small and catered almost exclusively for your average student with apparently a lot of money. Just the normal clothes, food, hygiene, and a few electronics. The thing that really sucks is that their electronics shelf is empty but of course never fear because they have the new apple items!Not that great of a place honestly if you really need to go get more items than your usual toiletry, go to a different target or store.

Closes kind of early. Selection is alright. Helps to price-compare with the walgreens across the street. Good for emergency groceries and large coat hangers.

Weirdly limited selection

TARGET is the #1 store in terms of merchandise and customer service.

This is a centrally located Target but it is small. Basics such as milk and half&half run out on the shelves quick.

When most people think of a Target store, they think of a big box with tons of stuff. This one is really more like a convenience store - what Id expect from a Walgreens.

Ive had the absolute worse experience at this store compared to all other Target locations in the Bay area. First of all if you want something thats locked up (like a phone) you have to literally walk through the store and find someone to help you. Dont try asking up front because they will say well send somebody back there and then 30 minutes later nobody has shown up. You might have to ask every employee in the store 3 times before somebody even bothers to grab the keys to unlock the electronics. Every other Target Ive been to has at LEAST one person deticated to just the electronics department.Okay now on to the next issue. Returns, you cant return anything at this store that hasnt been purchased here. So usually if I buy an item from Bay Fair Target I can return it to any other one, I.e. San Francisco or the Target on University Ave in Berkeley. But this Target claims to be a express store (it certainly isnt living up to its name because I shouldnt have to wait for 30 minutes to get something unlocked).Now usually prepaid phones can be returned for a full refund for any Target as long as you have the receipt and (depending on location) ID. Well I bought a prepaid phone (never activated it) opened it(never before had an issue returning opened prepaid phones at any Target except this one). Then when it was a almost unusable device I figured Id just returned it, same day, manufacturer defect not my fault at all. Then they said oh no refunds on prepaid phones I had a receipt with the date saying return by and it was dated for April 20. They refused to refund it. In the end I had to go around and get it refunded at the Target on University Ave. They made an exception because normally they are not supposed to because of it being bought at a Target express location.All in all its been a very terrible experience at this location on multiple occasions. The people even questioned why I bought the phone in cash. If I want to buy a 20 dollar phone with a 20 dollar bill Im perfectly entitled to. Its a free country and the 20 dollar bill is legal tender the last time I checked.They treat everyone like some criminal for not using a card. (What if my card isnt working huh, what if Im waiting for a replacement because it got demagnetized). The rude looks I got are not just because I paid cash but also because I had to find an employee to open the electronics cabinet and after waiting 30 minutes I walked through the store asking all the employees. Well if I didnt Id probably still be waiting there right now 30 hours later. They lucky I wrote this review a day later after thinking it through because I have some choice words I really want to add right now.All in all dont shop here. Save yourself the trouble and go 1/2 a mile to the Target on University Ave. The people there are actually helpful and ask if they can help you find stuff. Oh and theres always someone at electronics department

Space is limited which means items are limited which also means you won’t buy unnecessary items like an average Target trip. A bonus for me.

They have all the basic necessities. And the self-checkout line is usually really short.

Lines are usually too long to shop here. 1st time I see more than one employee at the registers and I get this guy who was so rude to me that I left my shopping on the counter as he spoke rudely to me and I walked out the door never returning.

Good express Target, but obviously not a Target you would go to if you want more than a bottle of water.

Never saw a Target this small before, but it had everything I needed and the staff were very nice and efficient. Very impressed.

Its alright. University based, so doesnt have all the things needed. But still fairly helpful with most things.

The place is small but nice and the workers are nice when you have any questions.

This Target is different than the other regular Target stores. Theres an added Berkeley flavor to it that gives you the friendly neighborhood store feel.

Has maybe 10% of the stuff a real target has. Pretty overrated although it has cheap multivitamins and a decent clothing section. Very clean inside.

Nice to have an alternative to the Walgreens across the street, which has checkout lines that make the TSA lines at SFO look short!The checkout lines here are better than at the Walgreens, and the selection of merchandise is a bit better... but nowhere near as good as a full-sized Target.

I waited 10 mins in line just to be told starbucks closes in 3 mins and the lady said she refuses to serve us so close to closing. She told us after we waited 10 mins.

Its not a full on target, but they have a quick line and enough of the essentials to make it a convenient spot to hit after Bart before walking home.

Small but serviceable. If youre looking for something specific or from the extended selection, youre less likely to find it here, but if youre after sporting clothes or general things, this place will be a good start in a pinch.

Its super small, this is a Target Express, so while they do have a little of everything, if you are looking for something specific at a target this may not be the one for you, as this only holds the essentials.

This IS NOT a regular Target. When I walked in the was a CVS sign. Basically it says Target on the outside but its a CVS on the inside. Very disappointed to pay for parking to find out they dont have what I came for.

When I lived in Berkeley roughly a decade ago, this used to be a Walgreens (or CVS) and I came here pretty frequently. Funny to see it as a Target Express - basically a slimmed down Target with slightly better selection and prices than a CVS or Walgreens. Very clean, orderly store, though I found the security guard at the entrance a bit creepy - he was continually staring at people in the store, as if he was waiting for people to shoplift so he could bust them!
