We wanted something different for dinner tonight and Sumac was the perfect answer! Wonderful, unusual flavors, with fresh ingredients and vegetarian friendly! We tried Baba Ganoush for the first time and loved it! The shrimp in tomato sauce over rice was delicious! And the guys working there were so welcoming, especially Luis our waiter! Very kind, attentive and good humored! I wish we lived closer so we could go there regularly!

Seems like a hole-in-the-wall place but it is a great, chic place for some really good Mediterranean food. Pretty ample seating - didnt have a hard time finding anywhere to sit when we got in. Quick service because you order up front and then they bring the food to you. Good for a quick lunch or to grab something to go.

Sat out in outside covered section. We had the Lentil soup, Gyro wrap, and Mezze Sampler. The bowl of soup was great and very large. The wrap was huge and fries were very good. Sampler was also very good - devoured everything but the dolma, which we didnt care for (good just not a flavor profile we like). Baklava was not as sweet as we were expecting. Would definitely be back.

I had the lemon garlic chicken entree for lunch was excellent. At first I thought the rice was bland because it is a vibrant, deep yellow that looks like it is all you need. Instead it is a perfect bass line for an addition like the funky lemon garlic chicken.I also had a doppa, double espresso with my meal and it helped brighten by work day.

Sumac is my first time to try greek. I really shocked why is so delicious!So now i usually go to the sumac on weekends.I love the hummus and falafel with home made hot sauce😍. And greek salad is always fresh. How always so fresh?Also baklava is so good. But i wish that baklava had more pastry layers.We will definitely go there again!

Fantastic food! Their baba ghanoush and falafel are the best Ive ever had. Really enjoyed my vegetarian moussaka as well, the feta on the salad was so tasty, everything was delicious. Be sure to try their Mediterranean beers as well! The golden ale they had was particularly yummy. Oh and their baklava was great, too! Again, everything so good! Friendly folks as well. Very impressed and will be back.

This place has been a beautiful surprise. Welcoming Staff. Cozy and warm like a mediterranean house. The food is super delicious and flavored. The smells will have you come back for more. Ideal for a late night!

Not sure how people are rating this restaurant so high... I had shawarma plater and chicken shawarma wrap, They were just normal chicken wrap sandwich which you can get from anywhere. Its not authentic middle eastern at all. Giving 2 stars bcz their hummus was not bad.

One of a kind amazing food, great service Mediterranean Food spot.Also, this is located in Belmont which has dearth of good restaurants in itself.We visited for lunch of a weekends.The salad is sumptuous and filling.Usually restaurants pass on quality of pita bread but this place dished out warm, soft pitas & omg the falafels are 5/5. Overall the salad is a must try & looks exactly how advertised.Chicken Shawarma roll was decent, quality of chicken is good and you can taste the flavor of seasoning deep inside the meat, total kickass. 5/5This place is on my hotlist now, they deserve better attention for the quality of food.

The falafels here are undisputed, the best youll ever have. Burgers are just fantastic and a sea of flavors. Treat yourself to an almazza beer and enjoy!

Its really good and loved the interior even tho we had to take it to go. Would gladly dine in once the world resumes a semblance of normalcy. The shawarma is fantastic!

I have been here twice and had the spanakopita, shakshuka, falafel plate and chicken shawarma sandwich. My first time was great, loved the spanakopita. But the chicken shawarma is served in a lavash wrap and it’s so dry, just falls apart. Falafels are great though

Very good food and service! The hummus and puts bread was fresh and delicious! And all of the meats and non-meat offerings were also delectable! Prices were reasonable I feel for the quality of the food served. Easy access and plenty of parking at the location as well. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is because they forgot to include 2 pieces of baklava in my order. Otherwise great place!

Really really good food. I went here a few times when I used to work nearby. Lunch service was always friendly and prompt. Interestingly, on some visits they were set up full-service where they took orders at the table and brought the bill out at the end. And other times you order and pay at the counter up front. Anyway the atmosphere is pretty calm and tasteful, and all the plates Ive had were delicious.

Had the lime chicken platter with hummus. It was very good and the hummus was perfect; creamy and flavorful. I didnt love the rice, but it wasnt bad by any means. Would definitely come back

I will not go back to this restaurant, the meat was dry and Gyro looked like a burrito instead of a Mediterranean gyro, the portion of meat was small. I will fine a new Mediterranean restaurant.

This was my second visit to this restaurant and they never disappoint me. I love the chicken kebab and the salad. The hummus is always fresh and yummy. Will definitely go there again.

UPDATE:We still call Sumac our go-to place for Mediterranean food! I have really enjoyed their shrimp kebab! The perfect amount of shrimp, rice, and hummus (if you get it). The hummus here is awesome - goes well with the pita bread that the entree comes with!###########################Sumac is our go-to place for Mediterranean food. Schwarma, gyros, kalai....I have not eaten a bad meal here. Parking can be a challenge, and their place is small. I think most people who eat here take out.

We have been to Sumac several times and have really enjoyed our food each time, especially the gyro. It is urban casual with reasonably priced meals. I will agree that they need to turn up the heat....it is a bit chilly.

Very comfortable seating and nice waiters. Food was excellent.

Had the kofta kebab, doubled the sides of baba ghanoush and added the dolma appetizer and....really delicious. The baba ghanoush was smokey and really one of the best that Ive had. The dolmas (six small ones) were the perfect appetizer and also flavorful. As for the kofta, I ordered a beef kebab and expected cubes of meat but it was two kofta sausages which turned out to be a great choice as they were tender and juicy and not dry like others I have tried (and the reason its not normally my favorite). My only ding for this to-go order was not enough pita and a little steep on the price. However, I enjoyed every bite and look forward to going back.

Had the mezze sampler and all of it was tasty, crisp falafel. The baba ghanoush was a standout, smoky and warm. Liked my Greek salad that came with the fish. Atmosphere felt comfortable with two kids in tow. Service was super.

Some of the best falafel Ive ever had. It was delicious! Went with a friend thats not familiar with Mediterranean food and the Mezze Sampler was the perfect starter to get a good taste of the staples. The dolmas were tasty. The babaganoush was very smokey and delicious. The hummus was fresh and their falafel as I already stated was incredible. Id definitely return and recommend this place. Took some baklava home and I look forward to trying it!

This is a great place for a date! As for the food, it is standard but for my specific taste and preference for mediterranean food, its a bit dry. The atmosphere is awesome and has the kindest staff.

The Sumac is a simple, clean restaurant with parking. I had the Lamb chops, rice and a fresh salad, and their special ice cream dessert. My friend had a mixture of grilled beef and lamb, rice and hummus. The food was delicious!

Very good Mediterranean food with some nice renditions of standards like Sharma and Greek salad. The restaurant gives these its own unique twist, with home-made hot sauce and tahini sauce at the table. Great appetizers, including pickles and olives, as well as a good drink selection. A comfortable interior and friendly service from the owner operator and his crew make the experience complete.
