Clearly they are an order of magnitude down from The Home Depot or Lowe’s in terms of size, but they have never let me down. Think of the most obscure item you could need for your house and they probably have one. Today it was a light socket extender. Yes, there really is such a thing and they had two different types. This is not the first time. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Outstanding store.

Ordered a new set of EGO tools here with online pickup, since every Ace Store for 21 miles has no stock. Had to make two trips when they gave me the wrong product. Lady at the counter seemed very confused, and wanted to hand me to someone else. Also, all the high end gear is hidden way way on the top shelf. Easy to miss. Enjoy your 1 star for making me drive 80 miles.

I love Ace. They carry the oddball tools and parts you need but Home Depot and Lowes dont carry, while carrying many things they do!

Very poor service at this location. My husband brought in two chainsaws to get fixed. It was almost two months, and the service technician did not call us ONCE for an update on parts, or pricing. My husband called several times, and even showed up to the location FOUR times for an update. The service tech was never there, and dis not return calls. The other employees act clueless, and could never help, and apparently never passed on messages to him that we were inquiring about the status on the saws. On the fourth try, at the location, a different service tech was there, and told us the saws were done. There was a note that we were on vacation, which was a complete lie. We didnt even receive a call that the saws were done, and they still had the audacity to charge a fee to get the saws back. This was an absolutely awful service experience. I also tried to return a brand new, unopened item within the 30 day policy bought at a different location, and was told I could not, because this location did not carry the item in stock. Every experience here is very poor.

Hardware stores are my toy stores. I got what I needed right away because a clerk was near the door when I walked in. I had some time to kill so I walked the isles. They carry a good selection of just about everything except lumber. 3 times during my stroll through the store I was asked if I needed help. That was great. Knowledgeable help when you what it @the big house of orange, not so much.

I recently visited the Progress Ridge Ace Hardware store in the early afternoon on June 17th and was very disappointed in the service I received. I asked one employee if I could buy a Stihl Electric Blower and he told me they sold them assembled. I thought it was weird I couldn’t buy one in a box but politely said thank you. I then continued to look around. Later I asked another employee, an older gentleman if the Stihl Electric Blower came in a box. He told me by Oregon law it had to be sold out of the box and he went on and on about why it had to be sold out of the box. At first I thought he misunderstood me because he mentioned the gas blowers. I corrected him and told him I was interested in the electric blower. He then gave me the same response by “Oregon law” etc. Then he said, “Do you understand?” He was pretty short with me. I told him I wanted to purchase it in the box to give as a gift. I also told him I was curious why other stores like Home Depot could sell electric blowers in a box. The funny thing was they had other brands of electric blowers in a box. He again went into his spiel about “Oregon law” and he kept asking me “Do you understand?”. I then asked if I ordered it online then would it come in a box? He said no the Beaverton store would deliver it to my address fully assembled. He again asked, “Do you understand? I did not like the tone in his voice. I did not purchase anything and left the store. I wish Home Depot or Lowe’s sold Stihl products. I ended up buying the exact same Stihl Electric Blower at Starks Lawn and Garden in Beaverton. Guess what...it came in a box! Plus the employees there were super nice and helpful. I would have been more understanding if the employee at Ace Hardware had told me they only had the one left on display or it was the store’s policy to sell it out of the box.

Terrible customer service. I bought a Weber grill cover. I opened it when I got home and it was a black bag and two towels stuffed in it. I brought it back and you could have sworn the cashier and manager thought I did this. They only response I got was that someone clearly had good taste because the towels were from a Hilton Hotel. There was no apology for the inconvenience and they did not offer to look and see if there was another item in stock. The cashier told me that I should have checked if it was sealed before buying it. Well Ace, you’ve lost a customer today. I will not be back.

NO MASKS!!!! While trying to support our local businesses, I go to Ace rather than a big box store. I went in, got what I needed and saw 2 male employees wandering the store; 1 with face mask pulled down under his chin and the other without one. When I saw 2 of the 3 cashiers without masks, I was disgusted. I will not be returning until the virus has subsided. They need to take a look at their next door neighbor,New Seasons for virus guidelines..

The friendly and personal help really make a difference. They carry a ton of things important to people needing to fix or improve stuff. Also a bit of whimsy and seasonal items. I only wish the store was bigger. Id spend even more time there.

For years, I have been a dedicated supporter of Ace Hardware in Salem. Unfortunately though, my experience at this store was ironically negative, and not nearly as good. Their website prices were different than those on the shelf, and I was ignored and poorly served by multiple associates throughout my tour despite gently asking for assistance . Goodbye Ace Hardware, hello home Depot!

I came here looking for a small nut for my 3D printer and left with a smile. I showed the attendant in the back my screw and he went right to the correct drawer! Ive also bought allen wrenches and other parts here, and I have not been disappointed yet! Awesome selection of bolts, nuts, and anything else you can think of (down to ceiling fan hardware), and incredible staff to help you find it. Wonderful experience, I highly recommend.

One of the friendliest and easiest stores to shop. Staff is not only friendly but eager to help and actually knowledgeable about their store and the products they sell. Additionally, it is easy to shop here due to the layout - two main rows on each side of the store with simple, well and appropriately group items that are easy to find. Dont compare this store to a big box store - it serves a completely different purpose and it serves it very well!

I came here for help locating a gas cap for my lawn mower and Terry the Manager helped me tremendously. They didnt have the part for sale on the floor but had an extra in the back they were able to generously donate to me. I will be an Ace customer for life because of the staffs customer service and can do attitude! Home Depot take note!

Blatant overpricing. Showed then the exact same brand product and model (new) for $16.99. They had theirs priced at $89.99.Your failure to have competitive pricing has lost a customer. No wonder why no one shop in stores anymore.

This place is a lot bigger than its storefront makes it look. It has everything including very attentive, friendly, and helpful staff. They had me in and out with just what I needed in less than 5 minutes. Good luck getting service like that at Home Depot.

Staff very friendly and knowledgeable about items and where to find it in store. Parking is good, they have spots dedicated to just this store. Went on a Wednesday late morning.

Local hardware store. Always willing to help carry the propane tank to the car. Help you find what you need and talked about the pros and cons of different brands of fire alarms. Or anything you have questions with. Plus they uselly can figure out when you call something a thingy bopper and explain what you are doing they can find or tell you where to get it.

Handles 95% of home improvement needs with more capable staff than other home stores. Prices here can be higher than other options, but Ace is 10 times easier to navigate and I can swing in and out of here in 10 minutes with everything I need. I don’t dread going to the home store anymore!

Ace is great for customer service. We had some Xmas lights that went bad and we were able to exchange even a year later. I dont think there are many stores out there that would allow that, especially in todays world. I will guarantee that other retailers would not allow that! Some people would say they are expensive, but you may buy 2-3 of an item to Aces one. It is sort of like the water-saver toilet, sure it may save water, but if you have to flush 2-3 times, is it really saving water?

Selection of some things was plentiful. Selection of other things, namely appliances was small (found only a single hot water heater). It wasnt that I expected more of physical appliances in store, but there were no displays it informational material on the types of things they dont carry in store. Again, if youre looking for something like a screw washer or showerhead washer, they have it. Same with hand tools. Just dont expect to see a selection of home infrastructure.

Terrible customer service and downright deceptive! Went to get 5 knives sharpened at 2pm, waited 25 minutes and the person doing the sharpening never showed up. I went inside Ace to ask how much it cost to sharpen a knife. Was told $1. I took the knives back to the customer service desk to drop them off for later pick up, which I did not want to do but the person coming to sharper knives was unreasonably late and I had to leave. When I asked the manager of the store at the service how much it cost to get knives sharpened he said a dollar a knife, so I pulled out $5 and asked if I paid now or later, he said later. Now I know why you pay later, because they tried to charge me $30, and told me it cost $5 PER KNIFE! The entire set of knives is worth all of 5 dollars.They just bought themselves a $30 set of junk knives and lost a lifelong Ace customer because Im not giving them one cent more than I was told it cost. As a special bonus the manager asked if a man brought in the knives! What man?! I brought in the knives, dont need a man to go get knives sharpened!

I purchased an extension cord for under $13 and discovered it had only a two prong instead of a three prong grounded receptor. I came back a few days later to exchange it for the 3-prong which they had at the same price. I was told that since I had removed the cardboard sleeve and they could not find a record of my sale (by history or credit card receipt) that they would be unable to resell it and that they would not exchange it.I WAS a regular business customer since they opened going on 4-5 years now and have been happy with the convenience of shopping there even through they often are higher priced than Target or Home Depot or Lowes for example. After today I will no longer shop there. The store clerk was very apologetic and personable. The clerks in general have been first rate. This was the owner herself that refused to make the exchange and told me it was a problem because they could not resell it.Sad day for me as an unvalued customer.

I have to agree with the one I gentleman about the rather particular customer complaining about the knife sharpening. Not only do I make knives from raw steel I am also pride myself in my sharpening abilities. Different knives for different uses of different angles and curves convex curves etc. it is very much an art and I wouldnt have my knives by someone who said five dollars. The store is great that lady is crazy
