We had several quotes, from various companies. We purchased a home that never had A/C, it had an ancient furnace, and an old electric hot water heater that need immediate replacement, and we wanted a gas tankless water heater. This was a complicated job, and it was going to take some creativity to do it right. Crooks was the only contractor capable of getting every every aspect of the job, and completing the job in an efficient manner. 1st time I had my water heater replaced, 5 stars not questions, perfect service! The next time I needed minimal pvc work, they set up an appointment on Thursday for Tuesday next week. The owner showed up not in a work vehicle, took some pictures and told me he’d email me a quote. I just called them on Friday, still no quote and they told me they are weeks backed up. My drains still do not work!

Repair the shut off value leakage.1* for scheduling the appointment within 48 hours.2* for showing up3*for reasonable costs and plumbing ethics!!However, wouldve liked to give5 *s!!But, the plumber WAS informed by his staff that we had to have the necessary COVID-19 precautions in place!!The staff verbally assured me that there was documentation for our necessary precautions on the work order. And, they were taking exact precautionary measures as advised by the Public Health Department regarding the Pandemic. Thus, l was reassured that l had nothing to worry about!Yet, the plumber, a grown man in his 60s, showed up without a mask or booties and allowed my husband to observe his workmanship; not social distancing, as l was told that he would especially since the shut off valve repair was in my laundry room of all places.Heather advised me 100% that he would be adhering to the guidelines, and he did not until l insisted that he wear a mask and remove his shoes.This was a very frustrating and upsetting day for me because l did put my confidence and trust into the good reviews and personal referrals of this company.Although the plumber was ethical enough to replace a second valve while he was here on the service call; the whole experience has been devastatingly disappointing with such lack of respect for the vulnerabilty of a customer.Perhaps, established small businesses need to recognize that this is just one reason why other small businesses are forced to close shop!!PLEASE, Michigan, Mask Up!!!!My Life Matters to My family too.

I called to inquire about a plumbing issue couple months.The lady answered the phone. I sent pictures to her.She had told me they were booked out till the end September.She was going to share the pics with her group.Polite, pleasant on phone.

Had other plumbers in the local area come look at a leak coming from upstairs bathroom. Others told me I needed to cut drywall out of the ceiling before they would even look at it. AW Crooks guy showed up and through 15 minutes of diagnosing found that all I needed was some silicon sealer. Cheap and easy job that other plumbers would have gouged me for. I had AW Crooks come out to give me an estimate on plumbing issue I had. When greeted at the door, he was immediately rude and spoke to me like he was superior and what I was saying was ignorant. Throughout the entire inspection, he cut me off, was demeaning, and made me feel very belittled and lacking in knowledge. Rude owner and unprofessional. He also told me he would send a quote over for the repairs & he never did. it has been over a month now since his initial visit.

We purchased an older 1855 home in Marshall 6 months ago. Theyve been extremely helpful in trying to situate this old galvanized, copper and pex plumbing that has been installed over the years. Reasonably priced and weve been happy with every job theyve done so far. This morning at 530am a pipe burst in our wall and I could hear it gushing in the wall so I shut off the water and called their emergency number. Someone answered and reassured me that someone would be out as soon as they opened at 8am. 845 and John showed up and crawled into the crawlspace, found the problem, and had us up and running in no time.Great response time, great service. I worked with Crooks originally to de- and re-winterize a property I hoped to purchase. We discovered it hadnt been properly winterized, and Chip with Crooks came out three times to help identify problems, walk me through the options for fixing them, and then finally to rewinterize the house. The experience was much less stressful because of the helpful advice and guidance from Chip. Once I closed on the house, Chip came out again to make sure everything was in working order. We found a few minor things that needed repair, and he didnt ever try to upsell or convince me to do anything uneccessary. I had to turn water off to stop leaking water, so I called multiple places to get it fixed. When other places wouldnt call me back (gave them a day) or said they could come out in 7 days, Crooks was out within an hour of my phone call. Had the water heater on hand, and roughly 3 hours after my phone call the new heater was installed. I couldnt be happier!

Only drawback to service I at once observed was that drop cloths used should have had waterproof backing as well as the absorbent top surface. Not having the waterproof backing allowed my tenants carpeting to become wet in spots and would have been worse if she hadnt put down her own throw rugs, which she had to then launder.I think the change in drop cloths would greatly improve resultant clran up.Otherwise your serviceman was polite, professional and efficient and did an excellent cleanup job.

The technician did a great job at diagnosing our problem quickly and providing me with the information needed to make a good decision regarding repair or replacement of our air conditioner.

When I had a problem one Friday afternoon they came out the same day to troubleshoot. Found out I needed a new furnace so they gave me a quote on three different furnace. The prices were very reasonable (furnaces are expensive) for what the job was. I picked a furnace and they said they would install it Monday when it was in stock. Sure enough they were at my door Monday morning. The installation took the better part of the day but my heat worked so I was happy. The installation team did deviate from the quoted install a little. Ran the furnace vent out the front of the house instead of through the chimney like the guy who qouted me said they would. Other then that everything went great and I was impressed with their work. I got the bill a couple weeks later and it was too the dollar what I was quoted. I would use this company again.

My experience with A.W. Crooks has been excellent. When I needed help with an emergency, there were there. When I had a problem with my water, they fixed the problem. Not only do I love my water, I have less maintenance on my part. When I thought I needed a new sump pump, they found the true problem. They made adjustments and it still works 6 months later. They could have just put a new one in and made money. But they didnt. They didnt even charge me for the house call! The work was great, but the mess left behind was excessive. Ive had plumbing work done in other homes Ive owned and this was the worst. I had a leak in the shower fixed and he left the entire bathroom with chunks of material in the tub and surrounding area. The access hole he had to cut left dry wall dust all over the bedroom he had to go through. With all the work I expected a little clean up but nothing like what I found. The work was great, but the clean up was poor.

Called tonight for an emergency leak advised me of the cost that it would take to come out and gathered my info and then asked me to explain what was going out turned out to be a simple fix he could walk me through on the phone to save some money being it’s the weekend and weekend rates are so high anytime we need a plumber in the future we will be giving these guys a call I called two other people first one told me he had no time the other was gonna be several hours! Absolutely unprofessional and inadequate work! An exterior faucet was leaking and the company came out twice to charge for a service call and replace parts. Long story short, the faucet has continued to leak for days and after multiple phone calls to get the active water leak serviced again, the owner came out a third time and suggested to replace the entire faucet and also charge for an additional service call. My young children were present as he was arguing, and making a scene in our neighborhood regarding the wasted cost that we have spent on multiple service calls that his inadequate business has provided for us. No apologies, yet he was rude completely I knowledgeable. As a small business owner, I wondered how he can sleep at night! Avoid AW CROOKS at all cost, literally! It will save you money and time.

Had a bad relay on my boiler. They sent a check to fix it. He replaced the relay with a new one in about a month later I had the same problem with the relay. So they came back looked on Google to see what the problem might be and said it was probably a wiring harness. The text said he was going to order a wiring harness and I haven’t heard from Crooks since.

Bought a water heater from Crooks a few years back, and the pilot light wont stay lit. I have paid for several service calls, coming in at around $90 each time to come in and light a pilot. It happened again today, and my husband had some words with the woman on the phone, who claimed that we owed them the $90 from a previous visit. My husband said he had paid for and gotten a receipt. Suddenly, she admitted that it was a clerical error, and the money had been received. He was running out the door for work, and told the woman he had to go, and hung up with her. She claims he was rude to her for hanging up.I called to see where the service person was, was just refused service for missing a payment, which was resolved awhile back. I was told the owner didnt feel like chasing down his money They never called me to say that no one was coming, and I waited around for 2 hours for someone who wasnt even coming. Beware of Crooks, their name tell you all you need to know.
