Impressive bookstore. You will find something you like. I found some interesting old art books from the met. There are several old marbled poetry books I am considering. Store owner was kind and helpful. I will be back.

Fantastic Ambience & the sweet smell of good books, just waiting to be cracked open to find the hidden gems within! Danny is a hidden gem himself & one of an almost lost generation of ❤ caring booksellers! You owe it to yourself to stop in at Cottonwood Books very soon! Amazing LA. Collection there.

Its hard to call Cottonwood books just a bookstore. Walk in and lose yourself in a near maze of books. They have lots of EVERYTHING. Its a bit claustrophobic, but the rewards are worth the experience. The owner, Danny, is very helpful. If you get lost, he may lead an expedition to rescue you! Why are you still reading this? Go!

Great place to shop. Has a really nostalgic feel. Many wonderful old and new books. Locally owned and operated. Has many books that are over 100 years old for sale too. Many hidden gems in the large stacks of books. The owner is selling a book signed by Ray Bradbury so you never really know what youll find in here.

The owner of Cottonwood Books is super nice. He can help you find any book you are searching (in-store and online). Prices of the books are a matter of opinion. The books Ive searched for and found have been within my price range. The bookstore itself is like a labyrinth. Its such a maze...you will find yourself maneuvering around stacks of books and few narrow bookcases. But that shouldnt make it intimidating. Each time I return to Cottonwood, the owner remembers me and welcomes me with a smile. :)

Wonderful, old-style neighborhood bookshop, overstuffed with all manner of hard to find books. Did you know Tom Hanks came in to shop there when he was in town last year making a movie? He did. And if Danny doesn’t have it he will order it for you. He will track it down even if it’s out of print.

A book browsers Easter egg hunt. From reference to fiction, the rare and the ordinary, new and used, kids to curmudgeons, in and out of print volumes, with lots of local authors. A bit of organized chaos adds to the allure. A soulful combination of scavenger and treasure hunt. Thankfully not for everybody.

He OVER CHARGED me for the book! First he told me it was half off of what was written on the cover which was 6.50..so I should have been 3.25...there was also a 3.99 sticker on the outside...when I went to pay...he charged me 7.15!! And told me it was half off its ORIGINAL price!!!! Yea rite! I shouldnt have even bought the book! Some USED book store!! Never going back!

This place is exactly what you want a second hand bookstore to be inside. I’ve spent hours in here checking out at all the amazing old books. The staff is so passionate too! If you are looking for a specific old book they’ll search the store and research options to order. I really appreciate this store because when I have an obscure book request, they seemingly love the challenge of procuring it. It’s so far from the experience I have at big chain book stores. This place is a hidden gem. Go get lost in this store!

Danny Plaisance knows books. He knows books and he knows people. Go in there any time during business hours and you can find a book you didnt know you wanted, have a conversation you didnt expect to have, and even make a friend. Danny is one of the best people I have ever met and I miss him. I lived in Baton Rouge twenty years ago and Cottonwood Books was one of my haunts. What can I say? Im a bookworm born and bred -- Claitors is one of my first memories, so yeah, thats where Im coming from. But Ill tell ya, when I lived in Baton Rouge and I wanted to find the oddest sorts of books Cottonwood Books is where I went. Neverm that it is just another miracle shop in the Garden District, and never mind that the owner is one of the most personable people I have ever met -- Cottonwood Books has an amazing selection of new, old, never-even-thought-youd-find books. If you are in Baton Rouge and you like to read, forget Barnes & Noble -- get on over to Cottonwood Books and find out what the word bookseller really means!

Owner was polite enough to us. Tons of books. Probably more books than he should have as there are small piles on the floor and it makes it a bit hard to get around. Used books are also a bit pricey, its hard to spend $10/book when I can get it only for $5 after shipping. Cant argue with the selection, though. *Edit: used book prices vary book to book, $10 appears to be the more expensive end.
