I have gone to this shop for many years. This is the most honest repair shop you will find. I wont take my cars to anywhere else. I have had them talk me out doing work my car didnt need.

I feel its important to note before coming here I took my vehicle to Dobbs twice , or was it three times? For a safety inspection.. Long story short , each time they said oh all is fine except one thing... Then my fiance who has worked on cars since he was 8 , would fix the issue and we would bring it back and again they would mysteriously find something else wrong that wasnt wrong before. After the last visit and them suggesting the vehicle needed some 200 dollar fix , we decided to go somewhere else. We called Car-X maybe around 11:30 a.m.. My fiance told the person who answered about what we have been through trying to get this thing passed so we could get it tagged! The man was very kind and told us to come on in and he would do his best to get our car inspected and resolve any issues. We were very pleased when he called us later to inform us our vehicle passed the inspection. This man was very kind and sweet and he has an honest business. When we initially called him we told him we expected there to be issues that we would need to pay him to fix and any dishonest person could have rolled with that and gotten us to pay for something the vehicle did not need. But this man was honest. I am just so very happy and impressed with this place. I have already recommended him to several people and I even intend to bring my moms car here when it needs an inspection.

Reasonable prices and fast turnaround with quality work performed. I have had 2 exhaust systems replaced, suspension work, safety inspections and routine oil changes, etc. done here. They are perfect for those jobs you dont want to do or dont have time to do yourself. Id recommend giving them a shot.

The jury is still out, my experience was mixed though in lieu of the latest events I am leaning towards negative, dropped the 2009 Mini cooper for a check engine light issue and was diagnosed with a cat converter code, they recommended also a tune-up (spark plugs replacement) The tune up i believe really made a difference to the car since it was having acceleration issues, however unfortunately the check engine light came on again after about 2500 miles or so. I ended up having to drop the car to the shop, they pulled codes, and mentioned that it was the cat converter code and that he can not provide a warranty because of the fact that at the time I had taken the car to the shop, the car had an oil leak and that I refused to have the oil leak repaired at his place. (It is worth noting also the fact that Jeff, the manager, did not mention at any time that he could not provide a warranty on the cat converter because of an oil leak. He even explicitly mentioned that was unrelated to the cat issue). ( Also worth noting that I had the oil leak issue fixed just 1 week after the cat replacement at a different shop )

J. Rickermann was friendly, helpful, explained everything that needed to be done with the cost. Very knowledgeable, definitely will be a return customer.

LEABIG, listen to what I had to say in describing what was going on with my car.He thoroughly did his job !!!!!!This Car-X mechanic, W. LEABIG, diligently pulled out a nasty & old spark plug that the Dodge Dealership refused to pull because it was just that difficult to get out.A Dodge Dealership in Oklahoma had literally just installed a 15,000 mile used motor.Check out the spark plugs that this Car-X mechanic pulled from my motor.Really????This Car-X mechanic, W. LEABIG, corrected what the LAZY Dodge Dealership mechanic did.

Carx gets all of my and my extended familys business. Theyre quick and honest. They are a full service garage. If part of your tail pipe has a hole they will fix that rather than try to sell you a whole new exhaust system and catalytic converter that you dont need. They recently fixed an issue with my brake lights -which would not turn off-for FREE. I wouldnt dream of taking my or my familys vehicles anywhere else.

It was earlier this year that Mindy working in the front got a mechanic to put my license plates on for free. Needed it done that day and did not have a tool. Shop was not busy at that time. Have had other things done here, they were able to work me in fairly quickly.

Jeff the manager here always kindly listened and got to the root of my car problems and gave me a better price. Even found how a dealership was trying to rip me off a few times. Lets face it. Unless youre bringing in your car for an oil change or some other routine visit, youve probably got something wrong with the car. Jeff has the unique ability to tell you whats wrong, how serious it is and understand when you say you cant afford to fix it. Other places strong arm you into believing youre driving a death trap. Not here. While Jeff will tell you youre driving a death trap, he will also show some compassion when it just costs too much. Their work is solid. My 2006 car had an oil leak. The mechanic, Will, also found every seal in the engine needed replacing. I bit the bullet, had them do the work and a couple years later it still runs like a charm. Ballwin Car-X is a trustworthy repair shop. Jeff and Will make it almost a pleasure to get your car repaired.

I agree with her original assertion: Jeff is charismatic, straightforward, customer service oriented and funny to boot!Spend some time in the waiting room and you start to feel like youre in an episode of Cheers except every customer is Norm.I went in today to have the oil changed but my 9 year old Mazda needed a serpentine belt and brakes as well. It wasnt cheap altogether in my mind but the calm and non pushy demeanor of the lead mechanic showing me the obvious-and dangerous-cracks in the belt and teaching me what to look at when assessing the breaks put my mind at ease.The pricing is VERY fair for sure.I think taking note of my dismay at having to have the work done the mechanic actually adjusted my e-brake alignment as well FOR FREE AND UNSOLICITED left me exiting the parking lot with a smile.I showered praise on Jeff and the team again and Jeff finally actually asked if Id feel comfortable leaving a review-sheepishly humble as ever.I opened the reviews as I got home and realised Id already done so a while back and this is my update..You can trust Jeff and the team at Manchester Car-X. Ive been a customer at Car-X in Ballwin for a couple of years. I wanted to thank Jeff and the mechanics for their AMAZING work and service today. I recently purchased a 2001 Pontiac Aztek. It had every problem imaginable under the sun. This was a project car for me, and Ive done so much to fix it. I brought it in today to have a CV axle assembly installed, but Jeff and his crew found a few more LEGITIMATE things wrong with the car. You guys saved me a lot of headache and time. The car sounds brand new. Besides new front struts (which Ill do soon Jeff), the car feels amazing when I drive it. 214k miles and STILL KICKING!! They squeezed me in on short notice on a weekend and saved our vacation!

I don’t feel like my time mattered much to these guys. I made an appointment today to get my safety and emissions testing done. They said it would take one hour. We arrived at 2:30. By 3:30 they finally pulled my car into the garage. By 4:15, they came out and said I needed a break light to pass. By 4:50 I was finally able to leave. If you are running behind, I would have really appreciated notice on that. I had errands to run and would have done that and come back if it was going to take an hour just to get my car in despite having an appointment. Sitting for almost 2.5 hours with a small child was not how I expected to spend my afternoon. I will say they were very nice but I feel my time was wasted.

Friendly service, helpful and explains WHY you need the service. Also let’s you know if you can go a bit longer, if you need to save up for a service. Awesome sense of humor and fair prices. Easy walking distance if your hungry while your waiting to get something to eat or to hit a couple of nearby shops.Later when I had an accident and someone hit my car and ran from the scene, I asked owner who he recommended in town. And got great service from them as well.If you know enough about cars and your an extravert, go in early on Saturday mornings. That’s when the true auto enthusiasts go. I have learned some fascinating info about cars waiting for mine from other owners. Men and a few women willingly share their tips and secrets..... next time I need to take notes.

I found this location because I heard their ad on the radio for a free state inspection. It just so happened I needed one and I like free things. I made my appointment and found my mechanic! Jeff, the manager, is perhaps the only truly honest mechanic left on earth. I know nothing about cars other then they are a great way to get to work and to go out for dinner. So car speak...I dont know it. Jeff explained to me very simply what things are recommended for my vehicle at its reached mileage and because he knew my budget was a factor, he recommended to me only the items that needed to be performed. This is the first time in my life that I feel perfectly comfortable in taking my car to get serviced. I used to take it to the dealer for maintenance...but NO MORE! I would highly recommend Ballwin Car-X for any work you need done. Theyll get it done. Theyll do it correctly. Theyll guarantee it. And youll be glad you did!

Great services provided by car X. Jeff was the worker who I interacted with and he was great with scheduling and answering my questions.I came here to get my car inspected, when it failed inspection the mechanics showed me the items that failed while it was on the rack to show me that it was legitimate. Was able to quickly schedule work to get done and get it inspected again at no cost.

Jeff has repeatedly provided the best customer service I’ve ever experienced from any automotive repair shop! When you combine that customer service with great prices, trustworthiness and efficient service, there’s no where else I’d rather take my vehicle! Highly recommend!

I’ve spent over $5000 at this location with Jeff and co for several different vehicles. Always straight shooters and if they find something wrong that’s expensive, they will show you the part as is and what it should be so you can decide. They will also make sure you don’t leave in an unsafe vehicle without you getting the full story. Many seem to interpret this is them trying to get more money out of you. Would you rather have a car place that makes sure you drive something safe for and your family or someone who only does what you ask and keeps quiet about issues they find? Keep up the good work Jeff and co. but please remember to keep your customers informed! That’s my only issue when dropping off a vehicle.

Lots of places do inspections and car work -- customer service makes a big difference in someones experience. I was in need of an inspection just before Christmas and called lots of places on Manchester. Most couldnt get me in, but Jeff worked with me to find a good time for both of us. When I arrived, he was professional, yet very humorous. Hanging around a car place in the waiting room on Christmas Eve isnt super fun, but Jeff had a way of making it more than tolerable. Jeff is a great person to work with and I would recommend him and his shop for car work.

Affordable and very helpful. They were quick enough for me and honest about the work needed on an old car (I admit, I already knew the issue but wanted to test it. Im a small girl so sometimes places try to pull the wool over my eyes but that didnt happen here. I know well enough about cars and can do much of my own maintenance, but I dont have a garage of my own for comforts sake). I cant say that about a lot of car places, so I appreciate the respect I was given.I saw some reviews that complained about time for a wait. As with any car place, if you wait, expect to spend maybe an hour to two hours at minimum. Thats just the nature of the beast, so its best not to plan around it. Its never good to go too fast when doing any vehicle repair or maint.

I talked to Jeff in person and Chris over the phone and both were absolutely phenomenal !! I have never been treated as nice as these two have treated me at an auto shop and because of that I will be going to them from now on! Jeff squeezed me in to get a tire replaced and was unbelievably friendly and made me feel like we were old friends. Give them a shot of you havent yet!! ( Plus they have amazing specials that seem to run pretty often )

I love this place! I had to have my front brakes, rotors, and a wheel bearing replaced. Dustin was great at thoroughly explaining what I needed and what I should be aware of for future consideration. I did not feel pressured to buy anything and they had me in and out in no time!

*STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE*I had my 80 year old mother go there for a safety and emissions inspection, and it was the worst experience she or I have had with an automotive repair place. They tried to convince her she needed all 4 tires replaced before they would pass her, and its funny how that just so happened to be while they were running a tire special. I went up there with her a couple of days later, and they doubled down saying she needed them. This was even after I pointed out the tread wear indicators werent even close to showing we needed to replace her tires. They then started trying very hard to point something else out, and thats when I told them Ill be talking to the state highway patrol, Troop C in our area, about this. They quickly got more upset, and said I can take it somewhere else and they would say the same thing. Funny, I had already taken it to Meineke, and the they said there was nothing wrong with her tires. I mentioned that fact, and Car-X was done with us at that point, saying we should just take it there then. That is exactly what we did, and her car passed. The praying on the elderly, and those individuals that might not know a lot about automotive related things, should be illegal, and Car-X should have their business license revoked. They caused my mother a lot of worry and grief over their actions around Christmas time. Ill be telling everyone I meet and know, to stay far away from Car-X from now on.

Very good place. My oil change took a little while but it was very busy and they were very polite the guy even took off $15 when I only had a coupon for $10 off because off my wait! I would go there again with another coupon!!! I would recommend this place to everyone!!

One word describes these guys: HONEST. I was told by another shop that my Mazda needed a completely new exhaust system at a cost of $1900. I took it to Car-X. They put it on the lift and showed me that although my exhaust had some surface rust it was perfectly usable and all I needed to replace was the second cat. Since aftermarket support for my particular model is poor, they fabbed up a new cat for my car and had me going again for well under $500 in about 2 hours tops. While Jeff is a nice guy, I had them order a part for me. It took 4 weeks of me calling them to remind them to check on my part. 5 weeks later, they finally got the part (sent to the wrong location to begin with, apparently they didnt check).I told them when I dropped off my vehicle that I thought it may not be the part they were replacing (the blower motor). They placed the motor and I get my vehicle back ($250 less in my pocket) with the same issue as I started with and absolutely no warning that it hadnt fixed the issue.They were a little cheaper, but its not worth it if I have to remind them to do their job and then they replace the wrong part, but dont tell me they didnt accomplish anything.Im not giving them more of my money. Going somewhere that will get the job done and communicate.
