I just love love love this place not many places in town serve breakfast all day however they do close at 3 do you need to make it over there before that.And let me tell you about the enormous portions they give you...... you just have to go in for yourself trust Grandma Texas I wont steer you wrong.However I only gave it a 3 only because of the location parking is tight its just a cluster over there but so worth it I will go back again.So go on in to Austin Diner and tell him Grandma Texas said hi yall
We’ve been looking for a neighborhood breakfast spot and this won us over quick! Great service, great food, and fair prices. We shared the California skillet and it was delicious! The spicy avocado squad was awesome. Great tunes playing to boot! We’ll be back again and again 🙌🏾

Two days ago I went there for breakfast and had a delicious California Omelet. The place has a very cool, retro feel to it, the food is great and the wait staff couldnt be nicer. Once I got home I realized I couldnt find my wallet--turns out I left it there and they were so honest they gave it back to me. That was nice of them

The Austin Diner serves traditional diner fare with a Hispanic twist. If this doesnt sound like something that would interest you, fret not because they do have some classic diner food as well. But I would highly reccomend trying something new when you come, the new take on classics are out of this world.One of my big complaints is how the store looks. There are some maintenance issues, but that is something that comes with a growing local business.Overall, I have to say that I will never stop singing the praises of the Austin Diner. The bold twists on popular menu items is fresh and fantastic. I look forward to seeing how they grow.

Monday 11 AM, not many patrons in the Diner. Were visiting from Florida and I chose this place based on the one $ (indicating decent prices) and the relatively decent overall rating. Wife and I ordered coffee and hers had a bug in it. I think it was a baby roach and she things it was a maggot (idk) either way we assume it was in the cup before the coffee was poured but I tell the waitress I dont want my coffee, which I havent touched and the wife would like a fresh pot brewed. I request water. A bit later our food comes, still no new coffee or water. Maybe 10 mins go by, wife and I are done with our food and the kids are still eating. We ask again and finally she brings me water and says the coffee is brewing. Ive never seen a pot take this long to brew, anyway. She brings me coffee as well, note I told them I didnt want coffee and she charged us anyway for my coffee and brought it to me. I never had a sip of the first cup based on the bug in my wifes cup, and I only drank a few sips of the second one because we didnt want to appear to be troublesome customers by sending it back. The food looked great, the kids enjoyed their french toast and pancakes. I had a deluxe breakfast taco and a special breakfast taco. I did not think they were good and the guac had a LOT of salt. The wife enjoyed her food but I tasted the pancakes and thought they were odd. Anyway, I referenced the price because I didnt think they were worthy of a single $ on the price indicator. The kids jucies were very small and we were charged $3 a piece! I was charged for coffee I didnt want, but was brought anyway. The waitress paid little attention to us but seemed to be running around frantic despite few customers being in the Diner. We said thank you for everything, she never said youre welcome or anything at all after we thanked her. On the plus side, kids and wife liked their food. Another negative is that the booth we sat in had terrible broken seats. Some of the seat had springs and other parts seemed to be broken. Kinda run down. I think theyre supposed to look retro but should still be comfortable. There was a jukebox decoration at our seat that looked like it hadnt been cleaned since the place opened. Just kind of an overall odd/not good experience and definitely didnt think it warranted a $50 bill. I dont know who likes to eat food without a drink, in a broken seat. This was just our experience. I did tip 10% which I thought was incredibly generous in this instance. For reference, been tipping over 20 this whole trip. Read other reviews and you will see some people do enjoy their visit, but I wouldnt come back here.

Used to come here years ago I stopped coming because I moved away i came back to the same place and saw a decrease in food quality and especially the service the waitress took 10 minutes to come take our order when there was hardly any other customers and had to ask her twice about a refill. Hopefully this place can improve because it was one of my favorites. Only gave it 2 stars because they did upgrade the booths.

My husband and I are visiting Austin and we found this place and I would definitely recommend it. 10/10 they have the best breakfast, both of our plates were empty when we finished. Everything we ordered was perfect and had so much flavor. Whenever we come back to Austin, I’d definitely come back!

Austin Diner has always been mine and my friends go-to breakfast/brunch location... Its been on rotation with a few other nearby restaurants for years and now with one out for the count due to a fire, well Im more than pleased that Austin Diner comes up in rotation more often... I enjoy their breakfast selections and great service which keeps me coming back... their prices arent bad either!

Probably wont ever go back.[Updated post 10/25/2020] wife and I thought we would give them a redemption trial. We both ordered the same exact thing. Eggs over easy, sausage patty, bacon, fried potatoes, biscuits and gravy. Cup of coffee and unsweetened tea.First off, cup of coffee had some unexplainable soot floating in it, waitress tried to say it was coffee grounds, it was not. All the food on both plates were cold, eggs were done fine just cold, sausage was done fine just cold, bacon was very dry as if it has been sitting out a while and cold, potatoes still had dirt grit on the skins from not being washed thoroughly, were chewy and cold, biscuits were not flaky but crumbly as if they have been sitting out to long and were cold, gravy was cold and congealed.Had to season everything myself with heavy doses of Tabasco sauce for flavor.Got home and had to visit the bathroom if you know what I mean. Price of breakfast for two was $30.00 which isnt bad but spend a few extra dollars somewhere else for quality food.Sorry Austin Diner, you failed.[Original star rating from 2 years ago is 3, this has now dropped to 1 star]
I have give this place a good review. Tried chicken fried chicken. Wow very good. Love there sides the best. Spinach green bean and delicious corn bread. They were busy and didnt have to wait got in got out. Loved the southern style cooking.....debated on giving a good review. Then everybody. Will come over here. And then Ill. have to share but that is selfish. Of me decided to share. The good review was earned had to to share

Great place to stop. Went here for breakfast and it was great, everything we ordered we enjoyed. They do get busy (at least when we were there) and you may have to wait for a table.

Granted this place is a breakfast place, but I met someone for lunch over there and it was way below expectation for me. They only had iceberg lettuce for salad and it just wasnt that good. Had to send my Cobb salad back to get its blue cheese. And then the dressing was just bottled grocery store dressing. Although the tomatoes and cucumbers very fresh and flavorful oh, its just hard to give it more than two stars on that one. I need to go back for breakfast so that I can give a proper review of what theyre doing with that now.
Truly the rudest people. Terrible old man. Horrible. Frankly dishonest. Dirty place as well. I didnt get to the food part. Was waiting for my husband to join. After a coffee served in a flimsy styro cup that burst all over the table TWICE - hideous man got angry with me - while the rest of the house got ceramic cups. Unreal. Regulars love this place. I presume he is the owner. I was so stunned. Nasty.

Wide variety of well-executed and inexpensive diner and tex-mex fare. The breakfasts are generous and delicious. There are some twists on classics, like the Huevos Santa Fe, and many breakfasts come with a single large pancake as well. Its a great value and friendly atmosphere.

They have home cooking which is so good a d tasty!!!! They have the comfort food you remember as a kid. You need to go there to eat sometimes.. you wont be disappointed. Plan to go there soon again.

Had the special of the day. Chicken fried chicken. You can get it as steak too! No extra charge! It was great! Came with eggs, yummy hashbrowns, and a pancake! If you have allstate and drive well you can get a buy one get one free coupon with rewards too. :)

People complain about service but that doesnt matter when it comes to the food here. I know how good southern food is supposed to taste and this was the BEST southern food Ive had since Ive been in Austin. Those other places that people rave about here in Austin but in my honest opinion they dont compare to this place.

Not worth the money or time. Manager did not make me happy by just giving me half off- I hadnt even eaten half of my food as it had no flavor. I went straight to McDonalds for breakfast and had better service and a better meal.
Austin Diner fulfilled beautifully a fantasy breakfast that I salivated over in my head for a week until finally the day came. I may have overwhelmed the waitress with my gluttonous order or sprained her wrist when it came time to carry it to my table, but she was very sweet and even supportive. She checked on me & my dining companion yet wasnt at all intrusive — she struck that perfect poise between service and attentiveness. The eggs were light and tasty — though maybe I should have ordered a dozen eggs because in they delicacy, those three were in the thin side. The bacon was crisp and delicious, and the sausage patty was delicious too. The home fries were quite tasty, but they werent piping hot the way Id like. The biscuits & gravy were also a bit tepid and lacked the peppery piquant that I like about this traditional dish. Despite these shortcomings I was quite happy overall, and Im already daydreaming and conjuring up another dream breakfast.

Cute place with run down furniture that had crumbs all over it. Nice staff but talking in spanish the whole time. I feel i should be concerned that my omelette came out in less than 3 minutes, like it was already made. It wasnt bad though.
We just discovered Austin Diner this past weekend, when we went with a group of six for a late breakfast. And no one was disappointed! The food was delicious, the place is adorable, and the server was super-friendly. We each had a different breakfast dish, and no one left a crumb on their plate! We will be back for lunch or dinner soon.
I have to agree that the service is not so great here, partly because it was so busy. My wife had a couple of complaints about the food, first and foremost that the pork chop was rare in parts and the other that they overcooked her over-easy eggs. They give up the hot sauce like it was gold, only after asking they give you a tiny thimble full. No one on the staff seemed anxious to make you happy. The food was otherwise great, if not a tad overpriced.
I love Austin Diner. When youre looking for delicious no frills home cooking and fantastic breakfast all day, Austin Diner never disappoints, and inexpensive too. Dont wait too late, though. They close at 5pm M-S & 4pm on Sundays.
