Great place to stay. Feels really relaxed and comfortable everywhere from the beautiful balcony rooms to the swimming pool and cafe. Our room overlooked a doggie hotel and it was the cutest thing to wake up too! The room’s bathroom was another stand out with beautiful blue tile and a great shower! Pet friendly too! Love the “text the hotel” feature where you can text the front desk to ask a question, make a request, order room service or anything you could need! The staff are great! Definitely will stay again!

Good place, probably not something you want for a family vacation. I would call the aesthetic fairly masculine, and I loved every part of it!Just a note: there was no complementary coffee available, but the coffee you can pay for at the front was really good quality stuff.

This hotel is darling! It looked like an old school as we approached the lobby, but is was home to a local trade union until 2014. Pecan trees, that are at least 100 years old, were carefully preserved during its renovation. The garden, stairwell, rooms offer a retro mid mod aesthetic. We went home wishing we could have stayed longer to try out the bar and restaurant! We’ll be back to enjoy our stay again while visiting our son. Well done!!

Ok because truthfull for the money they charge, rooms are not that nice. Concrete floors, and ceilings may be something people talk about, it’s just not someplace I would stay . I asked for a day bed fog be made up on the first night and they said it would be done while we were at dinner, but when we got back still not done. To their credit the manager sent me a email apologizing and offering a free coffee and breakfast tacos. Here is a question I have for them. Fox News is the ratings winner among all cable news programs , yet while they had CNN, MSNBC and CNBC, they didn’t offer Fox News. I guess they are liberal just like the city they are in, which by the way is full of homeless and police who do not have enough support to do their jobs..

We stayed here last night to celebrate my Mom’s birthday and could not have had a better time. Everything was absolutely perfect, we were so happy to be there. We had an effortless checkin, a spotless room and then spent a couple hours lounging poolside. After that, we went to their restaurant for a wonderful dinner. Everything we ordered was delicious and the staff there are above and beyond. A perfect and relaxing staycation!

My wife and I recently got married, and I booked our officiant a room at the Carpenter Hotel. At the time of booking, I provided my credit card details on the assumption they would charge the card at checkout.Instead, when my officiant checked out, due either to incompetence or archaic infrastructure, they refused to charge my card which I had expressly provided for that purpose, saying they needed my authorization to charge it. When I called and verbally gave the authorization, they then decided that was not enough, and then they sent me an online form to fill out authorizing the purchase. At this point I was on my honeymoon but I did my best and filled out the form, only to receive a notification some time later that despite the confirmation email I received stating the form was filled out, they wanted yet more information from me.Before I had time to resolve that issue they charged my officiant instead. I ended up just reimbursing the officiant via venmo.Overall, their inadequate credit card systems and processes produced a terrible customer experience. On the other hand, if youre into red tape, bureaucracy, and being bound to the letter of the law, this may be the hotel for you.

Hotel has some simplicity & charm. I thought it weird they omit any conservative TV At minimum I would expect Fox Business news yet they have chosen not to have options of information.Restaurant was nice atmosphere. Menus in the restaurant may not be for everyones taste. Bartender mixed good beverages and that was a plus. Will I stay again? Maybe due to its location but I will most certainly research the competition for the price prior to booking again.

Had a very poor experience and do not recommend this Bunkhouse Group property. Management is aloof, front desk seems lost. On the day of my check in they messaged me to say no one would be at hotel after 11pm. Very shocked. They left a lock box on my door for check in like an Airbnb. While there you are supposed to be able to text for help at any time, for any thing. This is not true. Nor does the front desk pick up the phone. Oh and the phone in my room doesnt work. Last, there is supposed to be free parking but this isnt really accurate as they have too few parking spaces. Was shocked at how slapdash the whole experience was. Do not stay here.

The last day is what gives it only 3 stars. My wife ordered a coffee and cinnamon roll. Took almost an hour to get to the room. We put the tag on the door for a room clean but no one showed. After a long day out I had to wait 40 minutes for clean towels that the front desk said would be right up. Also brunch there the previous day took long to get to our table even though we were there just after opening and only 6 other people there seated.

I stayed for a weekend vacation and overall had a nice experience and would probably stay again.Pros:- You can order room service, check out, etc. by text message- Hotel is stylish and easy to locate- The blackout panel in the room is a godsend- The hotel restaurant is cute and the food is tasty (and reasonably priced)- Being able to Chromecast in the room is awesome- Very convenient location- Comfortable bed, albeit a little low to the ground- Check in was quick and easy, except for below*- The showe head is high enough tall people can actually stand under it without stoopingCons:- Inadequate on-site parking for guests; dont plan on getting back late and being able to find a spot in the garage/small surface lot behind the hotel (people also park badly)- *No place to park for check in when I arrived- The hotel office/lobby is separate from the rooms and very easy to miss pulling up- Theres a doggy daycare in front of the hotel that opens early in the morning and the dogs are noisy- The bathroom sink is fashionable but comically small- Theres no space for your own toiletries in the shower, except to put them on the floorOther information:- Because of covid, housekeeping isnt turning down rooms, but you can request whatever you need (extra towels, pillows, etc) by texting the office- The floors in the room are bare concrete, but there are rugs; I dont see this being an issue unless it is cold when you visit- The shower stall doesnt have a curtain or a door so expect some splashback on the floor outside- The thermostat/fan setup in the room is weird you need to fiddle with it to figure it out

Very underwhelming. Great place if you like to sleep to the sounds of downtown and wake up at 7 to the dogs barking in the park directly behind the rooms. Place feels like someone converted a parking garage into what they envisioned to represent a homeless boutique. Pool can only accommodate 4 families, don’t plan on relaxing by the pool at all. The food and specialty drinks selection at the restaurant sounded really nice and elegant, in reality, just overpriced wannabe boujee menu. This place is trying to cater to the younger IG, tick tok generation. Will not be coming back. Also, parking is an issue, especially for check in. Don’t even depend on room service. The rooms are walled and floored in concrete resulting in poor internet reception. The tiles in the bathroom are super slick, you need shower shoes so you don’t die.

The most “meh” i have felt about spending hard earned money in a long time. It’s a cute place, but they hike up the prices about 200% for last minute bookings. Maybe if the hotel was full, but the place was far from that.We were disappointed to find that our room was the size of a shoebox, and coming from NYC, that says a lot.Would never pay what I paid to stay here again. Nothing exceptional about the service, the grounds.... not even complimentary water in the rooms. For $375 that is embarrassing.

Brides beware! I booked the Wedding night package through the hotel, however I stayed here with two bridesmaids the night before my wedding. The wedding night package included fresh flowers, wine/bubbles, robes, and king room. The flowers were meh. nothing special like I had anticipated. We did not trash the place or anything on friday night, but there were used towels and trash. When my husband and I returned to the room on Saturday night after the wedding, the room had not been cleaned, bed still unmade, towles on the floor, and trash had not been taken out. Not an ideal way to spend your wedding night. I was so disappointed. We had even put the green yes, please sign outside the door early saturday morning for the room to be cleaned. Turns out that when I called the front desk about it that night, that multiple rooms that day had not been cleaned. THIS IS AN EXPENSIVE HOTEL!!!!!!!!!!! How the heck do rooms not get cleaned?!?! I dont care what it takes, get it done. Basic hotel expectations.Other concerns - the parking situation is horrific. They give you a parking pass, but then they dont enforce them, so those that are actually staying in the hotel are not really guaranteed a spot to park. The area carpet/rug in the room is super uncomfortable on your feet. The material is super rough and I had to try and avoid walking on it because it actually hurt to do so.It seemed like the place was being run by a lot of really young, college age looking students. I luckily was able to get some of our money back for how terrible our experience was on saturday night after our wedding. I cant say I would recommend the hotel to anyone.

The atmosphere is really cool and the food was pretty good. I felt the food could be better for the pricing but otherwise I had a great experience.I have the quail and my friend has the steak. Both were good dishes Ive had some areas I could improve. The cabbage the quail was on was pretty bitter and the steak which seems sous vide could have been severed for a longer period of time to soften the fat more. My other friend had the fish which is very good.We also had the carrot cake which was a pretty good carrot cake but the cake layers could be a little bit more moist with more carrot and nut as well as an airer buttercream icing.Again this is me being picky due to the price point that they have not because the food didnt stand out as better than most.

Had brunch here on Sunday Snow day with my friend Mak after multiple searches for outdoor eating options and was pleasantly surprised by many aspects of this establishment. We were seated in area that resembled an airplane hanger with a view of the pool and parking garage. In warmer times the view would have been very different but no less appealing. The snow drifting down from the monochrome sky was a beautiful sight to take in during our meal. Brunch consisted of baked oysters, hashbrowns, migas, a burger and multiple beverages. Hot buttered rum was boozilicous and very welcomed on such a chilly day. And the chai tea, wonderful paired with dessert: churro croissants with semisweet chocolate and a slice of carrot cake. Would definitely recommend this location to anyone, especially those who want to up their brunch game.

When I parted ways with the The Carpenter I was annoyed with how I was treated but didnt hold a grudge since I was moving on to much better opportunities. With that said, I visited Austin and having seen the state the property is in and hows its still being mismanaged I have to edit my review to reflect that. I love this area of town (that is why I live near by) because there is a ton of restaurants and outdoor areas.I got room service (Club Sandwich with fries) and it was very quick and really yummy. There is a wide variety of snacks in the room for purchase. I love the kettle that was provided. The room was unique with a very carpenter feel (hints the hotel name.) Exposed brick, concrete floors, and open floor plan. Love the way this hotel looks, but not the guest experience. We arrived on a Friday night and there was no hotel parking available. Note: There are not even enough spots available for the number of rooms, no one is monitoring parking to insure guests get a spot, and restaurant guests are allowed to park in the hotel parking. We were told we would have to find a city lot down the street. This is extremely frustrating when you’ve driven for hours and are paying more than $200/night. Bad design. Another issue is that there is a dog kennel right next to the hotel. I love dogs, but hearing them barking in the mornings and evenings is not relaxing. Bad design. We went down to the restaurant for breakfast but were told we would have to wait for over an hour despite there being about 10 open tables. I get that Austin is now a city where you have to have reservations, but we were not informed this would be an issue nor were we offered a reservation upon booking/check in. It’s sad that the only thing we really got to experience was the room itself. I’d stay here again in warm months when sitting on the balcony (listening to dogs) would be enjoyable, pool would be available, and walking several blocks to your car wouldn’t be such a pain. I would also be sure to make reservations ahead of time to enjoy the experiences marketed to you at time of booking. We were also not impressed with the “service” at all. The front desk operators are separated from you by a window, and despite it being super busy in the lobby, we still had to stand there and call to them to actually come to the counter and help us. The hostess at the restaurant didn’t seem to care that we were disappointed by not getting a table. It felt very cold and indifferent, as if we should just be happy to be in the space. This is what separates places like this from other cool spots like Bunkhouse hotels: good design is about so much more than just aesthetics.

Such a bizarre design for a brand new hotel. Started with a great idea but horribly executed. Exterior just not very attractive. Site planning awful. You walk outside uncovered from reception to rooms. In Texas. Where it can rain 8” in 24 hrs. Other reviewers have noted the outdoor decor, which is truly beautiful. The king bed was comfy, but dont expect pressed linens (I didnt mind). The room was minimalist (concrete, brick, & tile). We had some initial issues with the HVAC system, though to be fair, we were there during a cold snap. Unfortunately, the train whistle (sometimes 3x nightly) and the garbage truck/dumpster drop in the wee hours made a good nights sleep impossible. Add to that maintenance personnel sawing or drilling extensively one evening. For these reasons alone, I would not return to the Carpenter Hotel.Initial service was excellent, but a poor experience near the end of the stay is the reason for 2 stars (instead of 3). My company reserved 17 rooms for 3-5 nights each. When six of us tried to hold a brief, impromptu meeting late one afternoon (3-5pm), we were told the patio was closed to the public. We informed the employee that we were guests, but she claimed the area was under construction. We were relegated to picnic tables on the side of the building for our meeting. Not much thanks for booking a block of rooms. For the record, no closed signs were posted, no construction equipment was present (like it was in the garage and stairwell), and the patio was finished and decorated to the same extent other outdoor areas were.

Perfect late night spot. Will definitely revisit for same and make a plan to explore their menu for dinner.

Great hotel! If your room is 210 or below the kitchen noise at 12:30am and 6:30am may be a bit much, these rooms face the kitchen clean and prep areas and can get noisy. Other than that it is clean, and interesting. Overall a good stay.

This place feels like a school, in the best possible way. So much light and the color combination is vintage and almost from the 90s. The hidden coffee shop has one of the best baristas in town and the restaurant is a perfect place for a photo shoot. Do not miss the pool area!!!

Spent one night and wished we could get more days but they were booked. Fantastic hotel, we love it, nothing negative to say. It is unique, beautiful, clean and very comfortable. Food was delicious. Front desk staff is very helpful and informative. Allison checked us in. She was friendly, informative and customer focused. She made sure we had what we needed. Juana who works the 11 to 7 shift was also very informative, friendly and helpful.

A really cool hotel an amazing part of Austin. Bring your pork pie hat, ironic t-shirt and your walking shoes...cause this is as Austin. But really this place great top to bottom. This isnt the residence inn and it doesnt want to be.

The place opened up after I left Austin, so I was excited to go when I visited. Its pretty much quenticential Austin. I mean youve got Land Boys design, fancy cocktails, good coffee and hipsters galore. Its beautiful and my drink was great. 🤷

Super cute and nicely decorated. Its an old workers union builinding and its great that the owners kept the building and a lot of the old charm and added modern touches. Lots of light and a pretty patio. Our server was super nice and helpful. We went there for brunch hoping for the heart-shaped waffles which were no longer on the menu but thats ok :) We had the pecan pie and I had the ruby red grapefruit salad. The food was fresh and of quality ingredients but I wasnt wowed by the flavors. We want to go back to try the dinner menu as we think there is potential. The iced latte which was delicious!
