I hate this place is temporarily closed, I have had some great memories here used to come here to study, socialize, and just hang. I miss it. They had some dope mixologists!

Stay closed. I showed up to this place once completely sober and sat with my wife for an hour while we waited on our friends to arrive. I drank water and played board games with her. When our friends showed up, I tried to order a lone star and the bartender denied service. I was taken aback by this so I went out to the patio with my friends, who questioned why I didnt have a beverage. I explained to them that I had been denied service. A server came out to the patio and took drink orders from my friends too, but they never got their drinks. When my friends and I all confronted the bar staff we found out we had been cut off without being notified. We took our business elsewhere. Rio Rita had been notified of our large party coming in a few days in advance and none of us were anything less than calm and collected. We were all sober and completely serviceable. Maybe we just werent the kind of hip clientele a gentrified cocktail lounge wanted.

Hands down the most comfortable couches in Austin. Has a basement feel to it which matches the retro thing they got going on. Coffee is good, drinks are good. Drinks are a little pricey but I dont mind shelling out a little more to support the local watering holes over the Brad factories downtown.

I leave near their new location and am excited to have them in the hood. Service is great. It has a cool vibe. There are lots of outlets to study while sipping a cocktail. The AC is horrible so you have to find the right spot to keep cool in the summer.

Great place for handmade cocktails. They have several house infused alcohols and can make just about any drink that you can throw at them. The inside of the establishment is warm and cozy. This is one of my favorite bars to go to if i want to chill out and have a fancy drink.

The new place is interesting. The front is not even slightly attractive, but once inside it was really nice. However, their drinks are way over priced and they use itty-bitty glasses on top of that. Then as I was going to sit down, there were dead cockroaches on the floor. My group is trying to find a new place to hang out every Friday for Happy Hour. Unfortunately, Rio Ritas is not going to be it.

The staff was great they got us seated immediately. Our server had a great attitude and was efficient. We ordered a ground beef burrito. This came out it was very dry and Bland. No spice to it. My wife ordered flautas which came with fajita type vegetables. The vegetables seemed raw and had not been cooked. Her food also was very Bland. Bottom line is the burrito was not worth $14.

Rio Rita is awesome for almost any occasion: a nice summer evening on the quirky back patio, a cozy date night on the couches inside, or afternoon drinks with friends. Between my friends and I, weve tried all the drinks on the menu. While some are better than others, the Summer Toddy is definitely where its at. Pair it with a soft chocolate chip cookie from their food menu for $2 and youre golden.

Rio Rita not only has ciders (which bumps any place up by at least 3 stars regardless of anything else for me), but they have some delicious and decorative bloody marys.I do not recommend the pizza (the one star they didnt get was for this)... It was cold and tasted like cardboard covered in cold government issued cheese.

I liked the old location better but good drinks and good people behind the bar are what you will always find at rio. It lost its nice cozy home feel when they moved to the new location but the bigger space offers more business and events I suppose. Still 5 stars, always. Try their signature drinks, you wont be disappointed. I love the bloody marys!!

The place looks interesting and has a good idea of what it wants to be, but the execution is a little awkward. My first time there, I was not comfortable on the couches and the staff didnt go out of their way to help me figure out how things worked (how to order, what was on the menu.) The second time, things were better but I guess this place is better suited for the undergrad or recently graduated.

Rio Rita has a lot of potential to be a great place to hangout, but its also got a lot of barriers. Its rustic ambiance is a bit too dusty and dark; its delicious drinks are a little too expensive; and its cool staff sometimes verge on being cold. Oh well – yay for infused vodka!

The drinks are cheap, the atmosphere is funky and the east side is hip. Do you know what is not hip? Not having air conditioning. Especially in the summer of 2011 when I write this review and we are facing our fifty-something-th day of triple-digit heat.Tip your bartender well. Its a miracle they havent passed out while making your cocktail.I recommend the house margarita: not too sweet.

A fun dive bar with original cocktails at reasonable prices. A large back area with picnic tables and misters makes up for the more crowded inside area. I will say that their infused whiskeys seem to have too much infuse, not enough whiskey, as they are tasty but have no bite left. So yeah, all the drinks are a bit on the fru-fru side, but they certainly are tasty.

This was my first visit to the new location. The patio is huge and has an eclectic collection of seating options, which was cool. I took away a star because I came in craving a frozen Irish coffee, my go-to at the 6th street location, but they dont have it anymore. Also, the drinks are a bit pricy for the location. $9 for a Hendricks and soda is steep for the Eastside.

This place can be a little misleading from the outside but dont be fooled. They have quality drinks. The bartenders take their time when mixing and you can tell they know what theyre doing. Ive given Rio Ritas more than one chance to prove themselves. The baristas are far too rude for my taste. Two people in our group ordered water with their beverages and food. The barista suggested that they share and refused to give another water. He laughed it off when we explained why that wasnt logical. I will not be returning to Rio Ritas ever again. The one nice thing I will say about them is the fact that they sell Eastside Pies which is hands down some of the best pizza in Austin.
