I really hate when you take your vehicle to a place for, in my case, brakes and they come back with 27 other things that need fixing. With statements like, your battery looks old so you need a new one. I left Monro with nothing getting fixed because I was given partly true information and they would not fix the front brakes as requested. The attendant saying he needed to ask his bosses permission to do that part of the job. Please God send me to a mechanic who is honest and will work with me.

I used to go to Monro when I lived in NY, and although I never had a problem at that location, the staff there were mediocre at best. When I moved to Washtenaw county this past year, I decided to continue going to Monro since it was the closest auto service to me, despite not having the best experiences at my previous location. Im SO glad I decided to give this one a try! The staff are always speedy, and keep me up to date on how long itll take to repair / replace certain parts and always go above and beyond. I really cant recommend this place enough

Friendly!! Main person was fun and kind at the desk and wore his mask. So far the car service seems good--went in for a conventional oil change and they were able to get my stubborn old license plate off and put the new one on without charge!Minus 1 star because the person who fixed my car didnt have a mask on.OVERALL happy and much better than my experience with the company that previously was in that spot.

Very friendly and wonderful crew! I appreciate how readily available they are! I really wanted to give five stars for a recent brake and rotor job they did if it wasn’t for a metal wire they left attached to a brake strut. Besides the noise, this could’ve potentially ruptured the brake line and caused a serious accident.Just double check your work next time and it’ll be a 5 out of 5.

If you are a young woman do NOT come here. I went to get an oil change and they told me there was three things wrong with my car that would cost me $900 to fix without explaining why they needed to be fixed. I got a second opinion from another mechanic and they told me none of those things were wrong with my car! They were just trying to screw me out of money because I am a young woman who they assume knows nothing about cars. Don’t come here.

Last week I came in for an oil change, the man who had helped me at the time (I sadly did not catch his name) Thankfully he was a very timely, and very nice gentleman. I expressed my importance to him in getting the car done in a timely manner for the next appt and he assured me absolutely no more than two hours-and I do believe he really meant that. However-when I came back for a follow up service the next week, the gentleman who had helped me last time was not there, and a man by the name of Curtis or “Kurtis” called me maybe a half hour later after I have already left and dropped off the car at 9:55am, and yet he was aware this whole time the part hasn’t come and he could have asked if I wanted to re-schedule. Although if he wasn’t aware, then that is just as bad because, there were no other cars in the building besides mine, and yet they opened at nine.. An hour before I even got there.The part not coming on time was fine, that wasn’t the problem. I had other obligations that I had to do by a certain time and needed to get the car back to the owner before then. Had this day gone as scheduled or if I had been made aware sooner, I could have easily turned around and quickly grabbed the car. Seems to me they didn’t even start looking at it until 10:30. 35 minutes after dropping it off! To get to the point - I had said back to him over the phone - if he had told me he couldnt do the service today then yes, Id be disappointed considering I just walked two miles back home, but no if you are saying you can still get it done today then that’s great. (As it should be, as it was scheduled for, as I was told and assured). Mind you there was no tone hiding behind my voice besides assertiveness. I mean we are dealing with my money here, correct? Its a significant amount of time taken out of my work day to walk over there. So when I got the phone call that the car was done I was less than an hour away for my scheduled testing hour. (Mandatory by-the-way). I basically had to run there and this Curtis guy has the audacity to make a snide remark about my time and its importance, right within earshot. I did not rush this man at ALL mind you, I was very patient and very understanding even though I knew it was going to affect my day. I don’t think I should be disrespected for having to wait longer for a service that was scheduled at 10am, reassured it would not take long for the *serpentine belt that wasnt finished until 3:30pm due to a late product. Really disappointing - Especially because I thought you guys were a reliable, very friendly service group. I made a really poor choice coming into Monro today and will not be returning. As a due diligence for paying full price, I will happily spread the word of my very disappointing encounter at Monro Auto service today, in Ypsilanti Michigan.

I got a flat tire right outside their shop (go figure)! The problem ended up being a bent rim and not the tire — they diagnosed me and filled up my tire so I was ready to go and they didn’t charge me anything! I knew it was a good place and the lady at the front was so knowledgeable and very nice!I went back for an oil change and to get my new rim installed- they did a great job and I will be going back for future car work

So, let me start off by saying that my experience with Monro was amazing.My husband and I pass by almost daily and we got a kick out of their “pothole special” signage a while back (actually sent a few pictures to some out of town Michiganders for some giggles). I have never really had a good car repair experience in the area. Usually the folks were too expensive or a little condescending and I’d get irritated. After remembering the clever signage and doing a quick google search, I noticed they had phenomenal reviews- a bit of a rarity when it comes to auto service (or so I’ve noticed).The reviews are truly a strong indicator of the work that will be done/experience you will have.Seriously. Everyone I interacted with was the definition of professional. They were polite, explained the various issues to me, and even fixed things that weren’t included in my initial “appointment”.They did great work and I’m seriously going to refer everyone I know to Monro when they need auto services. I do not have any experience with the service part of this establishment. The review is only limited to front desk. I wanted to get my car tires so was shopping around for the best deal. I went there, Only 4 customers sitting in the waiting area but no one at the front desk. Waited for over 20 minutes for some one to show up yet no one. After waiting for 35 minutes I did leave the place. may be they were busy but they should have checked the front desk at least every 15 minutes or so. I understand reviewing a business based on this experience alone is not fare to the business but customer service is a measure of professionalism for any business. I would visit this place again in future and edit this review if anything is changed.

This shop is slightly below average due to my experience with resolving a service concern. I had my vehicle in for a brake service and it was completed incorrectly. Shortly after the repair, a loud sound could be heard from the brake system after long rest periods. They attempted, to their credit, to identify the problem. Their patience in the matter was appreciated and they were kind in their interactions every time I brought the vehicle back. Unfortunately after 4 months of switching out the parts, they were not able to identify the problem. In the end, another mechanic was able to correctly diagnose the problem. What was found was that Monro did not lubricate the components properly and this caused the brakes to stick. I am appreciative that they attempted to diagnose the error, however, after several months they ended up saying that they had no idea. As a result, I ended up paying more to have the issue resolved. I hope that this shop will take this feedback to train their mechanics on diagnosing problems for a wide range of vehicles to ensure service is provided to the manufacturers specifications and process.

I recently had to buy new tires and my experience with Monro was great! Ken was fantastic to work with, honest, and incredibly informative. The service itself was much quicker than I expected. This is one of those places where you can just tell youre getting a fair price and they value your business.

My wife has taken her car to Monro a few times, previously all positive experiences. Ken was really nice and open with my wife and I about her car. However, I suspect a miscommunication took place some where that caused a bit of stress and anger between myself and the other man working the front of the store that day (didnt get his name).We originally took my wifes car in suspecting a wheel bearing needed to be fixed/replaced. Since we told Ken to contact me and not my wife, since she was at work, he later called and explained that it was not the wheel bearing but the muffler and that the car should be ready at the end of the day. That was the last time I was contacted.My wife was told the car was fixed and that the technician wanted to keep the car overnight for safety tests..no big deal. However, the next morning my wife receives a call that it was in fact the wheel bearing and that her car is ready. So naturally, Im a little upset because she was called at work, the wheel bearing was in fact an issue, and that we were not quoted for replacing the wheel bearing.When I showed up with my wife to explain the situation, I asked if a discount was possible for the labor of replacing the bearing. The man in front was very condescending and told me that theres no way theyd give me a refund because we were told the wheel bearing could be replaced...which we absolutely were not. So Im not sure what caused the lapse in communication between my wife getting called at work or the wheel bearing, but this left a bad taste in our mouths and we will not be going back to Monro.

John and Ken were very friendly, down to earth and professional. They answered all of my questions honestly and straight forward. They gave me good recommendations for other needed services. Prices very reasonable for good service.

My husband and I have both had work done on our cars here and each time has been a fantastic experience. They do great work and they are honest. Ken is the nicest guy and his team gives amazing customer service. Ken has gained two loyal customers.

I dont like this. I prefer the old speedy auto shop. When I asked Monro guys to take a look at my car, they said they would charge $80 just for inspection. The old people at speedy auto would look at your car, let you know what is wrong, and then charge if they are going to fix it for you. But unfortunately speedy auto is no longer in business.

Had tires delivered there from Amazon. Was a complete nightmare. Bad customer communication. Got there before 5pm for a 5pm appointment, doors were locked. I called the next day and let them know that I would be picking up my tires and have another Monro Tire do the installation. When I got there to pick up the tires before 5pm, doors were locked again. No call, no communication whatsoever. Apparently, they had a small fire, and noone bothered to notify me. I found out when I stood outside and called their number which was routed to the Ann Arbor location on Lohr Cir! I came back the next day to pick up the tires the next morning, got there at 8am, nobody was there. The Ann Arbor location on Lohr Cir did some call, got in touch with what I believe to have been the store manager, he showed up and finally opened the store and gave me my tires. I took the tires to the Livonia Plymouth Rd location, and they installed them for me. Professional location. Washtenaw Ave location center: bad experience. I dont recommend that store.

Being a female and getting uour oil changed is a hassle. To be quite frank: people trying to run you for your money. But they are the opposite to say the least. They are good people just trying to make sure you leave happy and that happened today. They also run in house specials sometimes too. Definitely will be doing business here again! Thanks again!

They really went above and beyond for me. They spent a lot of time tracking down the part I needed, but didnt charge me for that time spent. Then they got it installed quickly. This place is my #1 go to place for all of my automotive repair needs.

Speedy Auto, the service is spectacular and great. Staffs are nice and considerate, they explain the problems and the necessity and urgency to fix them. I have been to Monro a few times for oil changes and tire rotations, and have always been happy with the prices and service. This time I had more serious issues: control arms, ball joints, wheel bearings, and brakes. John was extremely helpful in going over their safety concerns, as well as showing me exactly what the problems were. The mechanics are knowledgeable and do a great job. John helped me prioritize what was most important to get my vehicle back on the road safely, and gave me a more than fair price for the work. Hundreds of dollars less than they could have charged. Trustworthy auto shop, youve earned a lifelong customer.

Took my girlfriends car in on my day off. They did not have any openings, but they told me they would squeeze it in if I left it. Before taking any action, they called us to approve the extra work/parts/payment.Within 28 hours of dropping the car off, they had found the cause of the issues, ordered the parts, replaced them, rotated the tires and changed the oil for 1/3 the price another shop had quoted just to fix one of the issues.Very, very pleased! We will definitely be back if either of us need anything with our cars and will highly recommend them to anyone in the Ann Arbor/Ypsi area.

I dont usually leave reviews but going to a car mechanic is my biggest fear. As a generally poor graduate student I am always praying there is nothing wrong with my car. Going to speedy, I always feel reassured that I am not being ripped off. The people who run the shop are wonderful and patient. Ive always been able to get an appointment within a day, and theyve even fixed things for free for me.

The services were good. I waited on site and was able to pick my car 3-4hr later. The inspection details were explained in details. The $80 inspection fee was waived after actual repair. Would recommend.

I went here when I was having issues with another company with a warranty claim. Right off the bat, they were honest and straightforward with me about what needed to be ordered and got in contact with my warranty company. The person at the desk was not knowledgeable at all about was done or being done to my sons car. I asked her about warranty and she had no clue. She stated something that was different than what was posted. And again she said she wasnt sure, and then stood there and never went and got an answer!

I have been using Speedy as my primary mechanic since January 2011. In this time I have found them to be quick, inexpensive, honest, and thorough in meeting all my auto repair needs. In one particular situation, they were able to diagnose and repair a chronic problem with my Corolla that two other shops had been unable to even diagnose correctly. They not only fixed the acute issue, but made preemptive repairs to prevent a recurrence in the future without additional expense. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Spoken as a first time customer, Ill definitely be returning. My main mechanic was backed up on vehicles at the time, so I took it to Monro. I basically brought my car in for an inspection on my rear brakes (drums, a bit of a pain to look at) and the prompt service and good pricing has me sold.

Finding a decent mechanic is a notoriously tricky thing but these guys are honest, professional, and polite...and they do good work. LOVE my mechanics!I will never go to another mechanic! I followed Roger from the Canton location to the Ann Arbor location. His team at Ann Arbor took my car in and spent time on it made sure everything was done right. My car was a pain in my butt to say the least and there was multiple issues- engine was hopping, was not exellerating properly, needed a new radiator, the head needed to be sent out to be fixed, cam/crank sensors gone bad, needed new coil pack which caused it to constantly stall out. I never thought I would be saying this but my car runs like a CHAMP!Aside from the vast knowledge of vehicles they are honest and are reasonably priced! They take the time out to explain what is going on with your car even drawing pictures to help explain!! :) they are just great guys- if you have to be stuck at a shop this would be my pick every time. They amuse you- finding anything and everything fun to talk about!!I strongly suggest this shop for your car needs.Thanks again speedy!

Decided to give a go for oil change after reading a lot of good review in the internet. asked for online quotation and got the reply and appointment availability within hours. the people there are courteous and friendly. completed the overall process around 40 minutes. Roger the manager provided me with a list of items that need fixing in the near future with no pressure or hard sell. Very happy with the experience so far and will be going again soon.

A shock broke on our way up from Ohio, lucky for us these guys were open! Super friendly and extremely helpful. They were able to find the problem quickly and get our part in a timely manner. Fixed us up and had us back on the road before closing time. Very thankful that they were able to help us out the day before Xmas eve. Highly recommend these guys!

Ive brought my car in for several reasons in the past to include electrical, battery, and wiper motor issues. Theyve always been a great help and when the job was too simple for them they refused to charge me. They dont operate in a manner where they are motivated by the buck, but rather provide excellent customer service to get you back on the road as quickly and as afford-ably as possible. I stopped by this place a couple weeks ago for a quote to have a little bit of work done on my Mazda and was greeted by a very nice employee. They took the time to listen to me and were very helpful and up front about what the costs would be. Fast forward to today, May 27th 2015, and I take my car in for the work. The final price came out slightly higher than the original estimate, but I was having more work done than I originally asked about. No problem there at all.Each of the work bays was occupied by a car, and the other time I stopped by it was also full of people getting work done. I take this as a good sign. A suspension job done at another location had come up short, and the resulting noises and accruing damage to my car were growing more and more worrisome, yet Id received only negative vibes and denial from that other place. Today, Monro quickly evaluated the situation and diagnosed the problem. Under warranty, the front struts were replaced and I was on my way again, feeling safe and secure. I appreciate the way that Chris and John carefully listened to me and took me seriously. Theyre personable, kind, and encouraging. Its hard to afford to keep this old car going, so help like theirs was truly welcome. I will come back again.

I used to love this place and my family has been bringing our car to Speedy for over ten years. It breaks my heart to say that you can no longer expect the same quality of work and affordability with no BS since they have been bought by a corporate chain. I have personally seen the markup in price soar after their acquisition and the corporate policy forces them to try to upsell aggressively every step of the way.I literally grew up going to Speedy with my father when he would get oil changes for the car he would later give to me on my 21st birthday. I am a second-generation customer and I am ashamed that the corporation (Monro Muffler/Brake) has completely gutted a beloved small business like this.

Took my old Jeep in with oxygen sensor problem I’ve been trying to resolve. Scott was very patient and informative on the phone before I even made the appointment. Arrived today and Roger and Chris looked over the Jeep and advised me what they felt it needed for repairs. They prepared the Jeep so that Scott and Chris could install the parts as soon as they arrived. These guys are great and I think they can fix anything, not just shocks and brakes. I’m extremely pleased with the service I received and will definitely be going back if future repairs are required. They used quality parts and the catalytic converter was welded to the new muffler, not clamped like so many other shops. Give um a try, no matter what problem you have.

This shop was recommended to me by my neighbor, an engineer for Hyundai, so if that doesnt help you trust Speedy Auto Service, Im not sure what will. I used to go to another repaid shop but when they quoted me a ridiculous price for a fix, I came here and got a much better deal. On top of that I couldnt afford to do all the repairs at once, which was no problem to arrange. All in all great service and a great speed, and great people. P.S. The first time I walked in, a complete stranger to me that was already inside also told me that I wouldnt find a better place to take my car.

Ive had several repairs done on two different vehicles at Speedys, along with consistent synthetic oil changes. Each time Roger thoroughly explained what needed to be done, offered the best price around (or met any lower prices), and completed the job even before I needed the car back. I completely trust this crew, and will be taking all my cars there in the future!

Great service. Lowest synthetic oil change pricing I have found in ann arbor area. Another shop did not put my oil filter on correctly and they fixed It for free. They are also honest about which services are really necessary

I had a great experience when I was in there on Saturday. John was helping me and when he came to me and told me what was wrong with my car. He then asked me if he could take me into the shop and show me what was wrong. It really helps when you can see first hand whats wrong with your car instead of someone telling you it will be this much do you want us to fix it. I willl be back for sure. Thank you very much!

Came in today for a loud noise coming from the rear of my car. Found out my muffler/exhaust had an issue. Ken was able to fix the problem same day. He was honest and very helpful. He earned a customer for life. Thank you Ken.

They charged over $600 and it didnt even fix the problem. Only redeeming quality was the quick service.

So far I have had only good experiences at Speedy on Washtenaw Avenue. The service is great and the prices are decent. This is the only car service place so far where I dont have the feeling that I get ripped off.One time my check engine light came on and a Speedy mechanic checked the code for free and told me it was something with my airconditioning. After briefly checking the car he said that he couldnt find anything that was wrong and that I should come back if the light would not turn off within the next 3 days. The service was free and the light indeed turned off the next day. It was really nice that he did not charge me for the check up and that he did not try to make up some bogus repairs to make a quick buck. Im glad I found a trustworthy place where I can bring my car.

My first visit was great and so this visit was severely disappointing. I set an appointment over the phone and asked for the price for their oil change as I had other questions. When I arrived for the appointment they charged me double for it, then asked for $700 to fix a coolant leak and oil leak and for head gaskets 20 minutes later. Mind you I was an unaccompanied female college student, and I didn’t know what they were trying to say what was wrong, but after speaking to my family’s mechanic it seems they were just trying to get more money out of me for nothing. I will not be going back!
