Awful communication I could go on for days about the service. Not recommending to anyone under any circumstance. Worked on parts of my car without notifying me. After completion there was a two control panels and several screws loose in the car. Had my car for over a 3weeks with very little to show for it.

Summary at bottom for those who aren’t interested in a lengthy review.I took my Audi TT to Autobahn engineering in April because my timing belt tensioner was rattling. After doing research on shops around the area, I was happy with their rates and Google reviews. After experiencing their business first hand, I am absolutely blown away that these guys are still in business, and that they have such a high Google rating. Quite frankly, I’m appalled.Things started out fine. I dropped off the car and was told that it would be done within a few days. I got a call a couple of days later saying that they were still waiting on parts, which is to be expected. No big deal. I got the call saying it was ready. I took the 45 minute trip out to Ann Arbor.Got in my car, started it, and my heart sank. The rattle was much worse than it was in the first place, and the check engine light was on. I didn’t have a check engine light before I dropped it off. I dropped the key off and left a voicemail. The next morning I received a call from the owner of the shop. Turns out they only replaced the timing belt. Not the tensioner. Even though I specifically said it was the TENSIONER over the phone. Whatever, mistakes happen, I just wanted to be done with it. I shelled out a bit more to have them do the job I went there for. Luckily they only charged me for parts on the tensioner. It took them a few days to finish the job. I drove out to Ann Arbor once again. This is where the real nightmare begins. I get in my car. Check engine light remains lit. However, the rattle is gone. I just decided I was going to stop at Autozone to get the code read on the way home. The car seemed drivable. That was until I got on the road. Something seemed a bit off immediately, but I just shrugged it off. I wanted to be done with those guys. I made it a bit down the road and things started to feel very wrong. I had my foot to the floor and was dropping RPMs. The car stalled out. I broke down about half a mile away from the shop.I have dashcam footage of this whole ordeal. I was quite skeptical after the first blunder. While sitting in a parking lot with my broken down car, I noticed a sticker for the timing belt replacement. Although they claimed that they used OEM parts, the sticker was from an aftermarket kit. After a simple Google search, I discovered that they had GROSSLY overcharged me for parts.I ended up spending my evening waiting for a tow truck to take my “fixed” car half a mile down the road back to the shop. I refused to take the car until they did the job right. I had already paid for my repairs. We confronted the owner about the delays, mistakes, and the prices of everything. He claimed that they didn’t put the sticker there, but the date and mileage added up. He refused to reimburse us for the tow truck. Most of all, he was unwilling to admit that he was in the wrong, and even had the nerve to insult us and lose his temper. Thanks, Bernard. There is no way I will take any more vehicles there, and there’s no way I will ever recommend them to anybody for any reason. They are unprofessional, irresponsible, and do not deserve your money.SUMMARY: Avoid at all costs! Ended up costing just as much as higher-end repair shops in the area, and I received the worst customer service I’ve had in my entire life. It took six 45 minute drives, hundreds of dollars, and lots of fighting with rude repair men. But in the end I guess they got the job done.

I brought my car to autobahn to get front brakes, before I brought it in I addressed with Bernard that they were Volkswagen certified parts he verified that is what he uses in his shop. I went to pick up my car at the end of the day to find out there was a brake light on my dash that was not there before- when I brought it up to Bernard he said that the wire must of snapped because they were old. I was not happy at all. I took my car and went to another shop to have them look at it to fix the issues. I was then told that they were not certified parts and the brake light was caused by the carelessness and the connector pins were damaged. I called Brenard and addressed the issues- I told him that we can go two ways I will pay for 100% the parts but no labor or report to the BBB, he said he would call me back with what he would like to do. He never called me back so now we are here. I will never take my car back to this shop and I suggest you look for a new repair shop.

Wow, these guys are fast!Used their online quote service on their website one night, brought car in the next morning for a closer inspection, and they were able to get a new part and install it, returning the car that afternoon. Barely a day without the car, less than 24 hours after the malfunction occurred! Ive never had an auto shop act that quick, and the price was great for the service! If I have another emergency issue, Im going to these guys first, recommended to anyone in Ann Arbor.

I took my ML350 in recently and had new coils and sparks put in as well as my belt and tensioner changed out. Initially, I had some noise still coming from a brand new belt and tensioner which should not happen but Bernard held up his warranty and fixed it correctly after I brought it back. Super good job. Beware though, they charge the consumer the credit card interchange fee so if doing any pricey work, best to avoid using credit cards there.

These guys are the best. I was moving from Ann Arbor to California and needed to get my timing belt replaced. I called (literally) the day before I was leaving for my road trip. They got me in the next morning and my car was good to go by the time I got off work that same day. They are also honest and one of the few places in Ann Arbor that adhere to mechanical standards. The work-hour standard for a timing belt is 2.5 hours. I called over a dozen other places in Ann Arbor and got estimates from 3 hours up to 7 hours! Bernard told me that they would only charge according to the standard and that if it takes longer, thats our problem, not yours.I made it to California safely and I owe it to these guys. I only have positive things to say about my experience! Bernard is the man!

This is the second time weve used Autobahn Engineering for my 2000 Audi A8 and this time there was a lot more work required, at a fair bit of expense. I felt I was treated fairly and honestly, with respect to my situation (it had to be towed in) and an eye to getting the work done in a timely manner (2 days). I recommend this company very highly to anyone needing quality work done by qualified professionals.

Do not go here! I went in to get an estimate, and the mechanic told me there was no charge to look at my car. Long story short... he threw my keys on the ground when he realized I wasnt fixing my car with him, and proceeded to tell me that I needed to pay him for looking at my car. Then as I walked to my car, he followed me, tapping on my window and wanted his printed estimate back so that I couldnt take it to show what he had found to be wrong with my car. Of course, I drove away. Horrible experience. $110 hour labor and upping the time and parts cost? What a joke! What a rude and unprofessional mechanic!

SCAMMED. I brought my car here with a serious vibration issue, they charged me an hour of labor ($110) to tell me it was my differential and it needed to be replaced immediately for $1300. I called a few other places and describing my issue over the phone, got the same answer every time: its the driveshaft. I called Autobahn back and asked them if they were sure it was the differential, the mechanic told me he was sure, and the owner tried to lock me into the repair saying quote look, I wouldnt be trying to sell you so hard if I wasnt 100% sure its the differential I decided not to fall for his scare tactic and ended up changing the drive shaft, the problem has been solved and the vibration is gone. Never coming back here again.

Ive had two cars serviced here in the past couple of months. Our Toyota minivan needed a new transmission - they found a good used one down in Texas, got it within a couple of days and had the minivan back on the road in 3 days. It has worked perfectly since then. Also brought in a Mercedes with ABS/ESP warning message on display. Online forums said bad wheel speed sensor - but ODBII didnt report any problems. Took it to Autobahn and they hooked up a better system to the car and found the RR wheel speed sensor was indeed bad. They replaced it and had me back on the road in hours. Both repairs were done quickly, accurately and at a price I believe was reasonable given the repairs needed.

This is exactly the kind of place that I like to bring my cars. After receiving insane quotes from the dealership for an il change, I reached out to Mike at AE and was able to schedule the service for half of the cost. Mike knew about the car and was thorough when asking me how I wanted the service to be handled. There is nothing better than a reliable, no BS, independent service faclity. Ill definitely be coming back for future maintenance.
