I was on the hunt for a left handed guitar with an HSS configuration and a Floyd Rose for quite a while. A friend of mine brought to my attention a guitar that Mammoth Music had in stock that met all of my requirements, but was located roughly 4,000 miles away in Anchorage, AK.I immediately called the store and was greeted by a gentleman named Tommy. Tommy was INCREDIBLY helpful in giving me all of the details about the guitar, and even offered to take down the listing while I acquired the funds, as he could tell I was very serious about purchasing the guitar.These guys really are a top notch store. Customer service is immaculate and theyre great guys to chat with about all things music, and in my case, guitar. I would GLADLY purchase more instruments from them, as they stocked my case with all sorts of Mammoth Music goodies (Straps, patches, stickers... the works!) I look forward to the day that I get to deal with them again - THEY ARE AMAZING AT WHAT THEY DO!

I had such a great experience! I asked a lot of what were probably silly questions but the staff were patient, helpful and proactive. To top it off, they helped me take out the boxes. I was impressed with their selection and left happy.

Went in today for a new set of strings and some expertise...the gents behind the counter were too busy talking with each other to take the time to help a customer figure out what to do with an old guitar. The guy that did finally end up helping me wasn’t much of a help and impatient. I’m going to Mikes Music or MatValley Music from now on.

Have lots of great pieces of equipment at fair prices considering shipping to Alaska cost so much. My biggest issue was the staff was her unknowledgeable about most pieces of equipment. They expect me to know what I was buying. And I didnt like that at all.

I went in looking for a guitar and asked a guy if I could check out the guitars in the humidity controlled room. His response was You dont want to go in there, there isnt a guitar for less than a grand in there.I bought a $1000 acoustic that came with a free adjustment, cleaning and strings. I took the guitar in a year later and had to pay for strings. They said itd be done early next week on Friday. I went in 2 weeks later and they hadnt touched it. They said it could be up to a month to honor the free cleaning they promised. I just left with my strings and cleaned it myself.

I’ve been an amateur player and professional teacher in Anchorage for many years, and Mammoth’s customer service seems to just keep getting better and better.Two years ago, I was shopping for a Martin D-18, and Cody was happy to unpack three brand new ones from their unopened boxes to help me pick the best one. I’m still enjoying it today. Last year, I came in looking for a particular keyboard for my studio and Lance told me of a different model that the staff believed to be both cheaper and better. It was, and is. Last week, I found myself wanting a new Martin D-15M. Cody was happy to look upstairs and find that there were two for me two choose from, and volunteered to hold my favorite over the weekend until I could return with my credit card.This is all fabulous, but it gets better. When I came back to pick it up, Lance told me that there was an upcoming price reduction on that model that hadn’t been reflected on the sticker, and so I could get it for 10% less than I’d have been happy to pay. THEY CHARGED ME LESS THAN AMAZON.And it gets better yet. I thought the action was going to be a little too low once the guitar came home to the lower humidity of my house. Rather than tell me to wait and see, Cody brought out a hex wrench and spent 15 minutes tweaking the neck to what we agreed was perfection.Oh yeah, and they threw in a set of fresh strings for free.Anchorage needs to know about this. We’re about to undergo one more predatory attack from one more national chain that will claim to offer better service and selection. I’ve shopped Guitar Centers in other cities, and I won’t bash them. But nobody’s going to treat you better than a business that’s locally owned and operated. All of my musical dollars are going to remain here in Anchorage.

I like the guy with the one eye! Hes really great to the customers (I think hes a manager) and will cut you a deal on old stock he has lying around. His one eye makes him a legend at that store, people will be talking about buying their instrument from a man with one eye in Anchorage AK for a long time.... They already come in talking about a nostalgic feeling because the store has been there for so many years. No offense if youre reading this. Sorry for your eye. Long story short this is a great team effort business. It is ran by very intelligent and reliable team of folks, who know what you need to make miraculous music. Best stocked music store in Alaska. Martin guitars wont even ship their guitars to them in the winter months because of humidity issues here in Alaska. Very good quality instruments at this store. Only con is it is a Mom and Pop shop so unlike the internet where you can have your money back (with time) if you dont like something... Here you need to shop smart because you can only return it for in-store credit. The upside of course is same day musical excitement. Tit for tat in my eyes. I shop both here and online for my needs. Some of the more exotic guitar pedals (hand and custom made) are only available on the internet. Anyways, Im really glad to see we have a great music store and at first I wished it was a big business like guitar center but now that Im used to it Im glad they are mom and pop as this gives me more options... besides I can always buy from guitar center online if needed.

So, last night a few of my friends and I decided to learn how to play guitar. We each came to “rehearsal” with a guitar, a pick and ambition. Well, in our adrenaline filled haze we over tuned a low E cord on one of the guitars. That baby popped like a teenaged pimple! At 4 minutes before closing, I called Mammoth Music. I told the gentleman on the phone the situation and he told me that they would Supply my with the cord I needed. They even were kind enough to leave it where I could find it and at no charge! What!? This was beyond what they were expected to do and I am so glad that I have this story to tell everyone when I tell them about when I learned to play. Thank you Mammoth.

Ive bought intelligent lighting and DJ equipment from mammoth numerous times, friendly/helpful staff and excellent selection. They are also the only place you can get fog juice when it isnt Halloween. When the sticker price is too high ask if theyll match a competitors price, sometimes they can work out a deal, Id rather keep my money in state and support local businesses than order from an unknown.
