Went in on July 26th and had an excellent experience. Very helpful staff who assisted me with my purchases from the very beginning without being asked. I found exactly what I was looking for and a bit more. They dont just sell horns here folks! Great selection of guitars, harmonicas and tons of other stuff. Prices were excellent. This is an amazing shop! The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. They helped us purchase a tuba but had every kind of instrument available.

Brought in my 7th graders instrument to get checked before the start of the school year. I was given a quote and a time frame of a few days to weeks depending on what if anything they found to be wrong with the instrument. You can also sign that if there are any extra repairs that need to be done over a certain amount, that you request for the staff to call you prior to doing that work. I was called within 36 hours with notice that the instrument was ready for pick up. The total cost ended up being less than what was quoted. The instrument came back to us cleaned and tuned up and ready for another school year of middle school band!

I was looking for a 1/2 size guitar for our granddaughter for Christmas. The Horn Doctor was the only place in town that stocked that size. They even had a decent selection to choose from. Barbara was very knowledgeable and friendly. They have great prices and will even match online prices. I cant recommend them enough. Make the Horn Doctor your first stop.

I just purchased a piano from them. They got the delivery guys to deliver it the next morning but the delivery guys brought the wrong bench. I didnt notice the difference until later on that day when I saw Drews voice-mail and listened to it, saying that the delivery guys brought me the wrong bench and they would like to bring me the right one that goes with my piano. I called back just right before they were going to close. I believed it was Drew who I was talking too. He said that they dont want me to drop off the bench, he will try to bring it over first thing in the morning and he did. I really appreciate their honesty. Also the staff there are always really friendly and ready to help with any questions.

Amazing service, information and resources for all of your music needs. Mrs. Barbara patiently and professionally helped my 6th grader get dialed in on an instrument for her to try in band. The flute rental option was great at $30/mo and insurance for an additional $6/mo. A three month rental contract was require; that seems reasonable to me. The purchase price was also fair. They also had all the additional supplies we needed. No high pressure sales, only friendly and helpful! We will be back!

These guys are always super helpful and kind, and theyre very enthusiastic about music and knowing their stuff. I bought a nylon string guitar from them last week, and they mailed me a hand-written postcard thanking me for the business. They really care about customer service, and I cant recommend them enough. I believe theyre also the only Godin dealer in the state, and, if you dont know the brand, definitely check them out.

Good prices and GREAT staff! I bought a Yamaha FG800 acoustic guitar here today. I went to the Music Man first, to check out the guitar and price. For some reason, they wanted $299.99 for the guitar. I called the Horn Doctor and they had the same guitar for $199.99 so I stopped through and picked up the guitar and some strings. The staff at the Horn Doctor are very kind and engaging and I had an awesome shopping experience here!

James at Alaska Music & Sound home of the horn Doctor is amazing. I have no knowledge of instruments or supplies. I walked in, told him the instrument my son was going to be playing and in about 2 minutes he had everything I needed on the supply list. He answered all my questions. I was in and out within 10 minutes.

I purchased a Yamaha keyboard from the Horn Doctor. The service was amazing. Barbara was my salesperson and she went beyond the call of duty to help me out. Thanks so much. The keyboard is fantastic. I will shop there more in the future.

They are very supportive of our local music community, and are eager to help you with music related issues and questions. They will also tell you honestly if something cannot be fixed or is not worth fixing - and not all stores would do that. Hello review readers, I bought a pitch pipe from here, only to get home and learn that it was defective. Like many of us up here, we do not live in the Anchorage area, thus my visits to Anchorage are saved for when there are enough things to take care of to justify the drive into town. Needless to say I did not get the pitch pipe tested at home and back in Anchorage within 7 days. This, I just learned, is the return policy for The Horn Doctor. Therefore, when I recently went into the store, told them of the defect, they tested the “D” on the piano, agreed it was not a “D” and responded, it’s outside the 7 day return window, there’s nothing we can do. There is something I can do.... warn others so that we can be careful what we buy here, as they are not willing to stand behind the products they sell.

Friendly staff who knows their stuff! I bought my ukulele and gear here, Im very pleased with this store. Also, they know my old high school band teacher.

THe Horn Doctor has done first rate repairs on my family and my bands instruments for literally decades, with unfailingly good results. Theyve spent time with me on searching out incredibly minor replacement fasteners which couldnt possibly have earned them a penny, without a complaint, AND they carry local musicians recordings.

I stopped by to check out the selection and was impressed with the various instruments they had! Nice mandolins, fiddles, and guitars! Barbara and Anna were super helpful and went out of their way to assist me! The feel and attitude within Horn Doctor Music Store was amazing and I highly suggest stopping by for any musical needs!

My Getzen was purchased new from the Horn Doctor in 1977. When my 3rd valve was sticking this summer I brought it in for repair, which was done sooner than expected and at the price quoted. Combined with a recommended switch to #2 valve oil, and Ive not had a problem with the horn since.I couldnt ask for better service.

Didnt stay long but I noticed that there are instruments I enjoyed playing. Recently I learned about hand drumming.

Staff have always been very helpful and kind when weve dropped in. I recommend Horn Doctor for renting an instrument for a 6th grader.

I agree with the previous review, went to horn doctor, they quoted me $250-500 for my sax to be repaired. Took it to Music Man, $50 and a week later, the sax sings. How does this shop justify $250-$500 when another can do fix it for $50 blows my mind.

Went in for help with my Ukulele, I have a baritone that I tune GCEA, staff there was able to help me figure out which strings would work for that setup, had a couple of options in stock. Great selection, great staff, super helpful, highly recommend.
