Being a long time customer then moving out of state using this poor excuse for a professional business. I moved in with the boyfriend at the time then I paid for the same company to move my belongings back to Alaska after the ex . I told the owner in an email that The ex can no longer know anything about me or my move nor my belongings I have in THEIR storage facility and continue paying them for those belongings of mine to be stored there. I moved back because of my now ex was mentally abusive and was stalking me, maybe still is. A boundary was set with the owner because of my ex’s troubling behavior and the anxiety that I now have was disregarded and ultimately paperwork was sent to his email with ALL of my information. This is absolutely disgusting, I’ve paid over 10,000 dollars to these people. Now my narcissistic ex boyfriend could show up any day. Thanks for the impeccable disrespect.

We are very happy with the job Sourdough Transfer did for us -- from the beginning to the end. They spent time with us going over what we wanted to take with us and gave an accurate and reasonable estimate for the job. They worked with us on the scheduling of the packing and the delivery of our goods from Alaska to our new location in Oregon. The movers showed up when they said they would. They were courteous, professional and hard workers. From start to finish, Sourdough Transfer did what they were contracted to do -- they took a lot of the load off our shoulders and made it as easy as they could for us. I would recommend them to anyone.

We had great service from Jane and the Sourdough movers. They were careful to protect the furniture and moved everything without a single problem. The movers arrived on time and were very friendly. We appreciated all the efforts they made and were glad we chose Sourdough Transfer for our move.

This has been my 7th time working with a contracted mover and I have to say, this was by far the best group of people I have encountered. Moving has always been stressful, but the positive energy your team displayed was very contagious. It looked likely they truly enjoyed their job and enjoyed helping the customer. In addition to their energy, all three guys were extremely professional and polite.

Wonderful company to work with! Both times weve moved with them, the crew handling our items has been beyond professional, helpful, and gone out of the way to make things easy. All items were well packed and handled - not a single thing lost or damaged, even on a move up from the Lower 48. I even had one of the moving crew stop me at work to ask how our new house was and if we were settling in alright. Overall an amazing company to work with and highly recommended!

Exemplary service from the entire Sourdough team during our move. The team’s attention to detail and willingness to work with our requests made this move our best in 13 years. I highly recommend this moving company to anyone.

My wife and I sought out bids from all the major companies in town. Sourdough was the most responsive, the quickest to come and do an in-home survey (which was quite accurate), and they also ended up being the least expensive. Obviously, we selected them. The two movers who packed our things were terrific - they arrived on time, were friendly, worked hard, and did a great job. One of the biggest surprises was that our belongings were delivered within a week to our new home in a Southeast Alaska - which is no small feat given the logistics of barges, etc... We hope to never have to move again, but we will definitely recommend Sourdough Trnasfer to all of our friends and family.

I recently moved from Snoqualmie WA to Anchorage AK. I contacted 3 different moving companies, which all had similar quotes, but decided on Sourdough because of a recommendation from my realtor. From the moment I talked to Jane, the representative who answered my call, I knew they were going to be my choice. Their personalized service and true caring attitude made them stand out, the epitome of a truly Alaskan company. Jane and her colleague Monica made sure I was communicated with frequently, answered all of my many questions, and were extremely flexible with their scheduling. The move team that packed my belongings in Snoqualmie were organized, hardworking, and professional. They made sure all my belongings were securely packed, including creating a customized crate for a large, fragile, and heavy glass cabinet that I am rather attached to. The move team was also personable and friendly making it seem like a group of friends were packing my things for me. Once my items left on the truck I was communicated with frequently with the status of the items in shipment, when they were in transit, and arrived to the warehouse for storage in Anchorage. My items were stored for 6 months while awaiting my newly constructed home. Because of the nature of new construction’s timeline, the team at Sourdough handled multiple rescheduled move dates for me with professionalism and patience. When the final date was confirmed the Sourdough movers showed up to my new home right on schedule, and proceeded to unpack my things in a methodical and extremely organized manner. Again the team was professional, hardworking, and personable. My household goods were placed exactly where I wanted them and packaging removed, leaving to me only the boxes of smaller items. The Sourdough team was efficient and expedient. My glass artwork, fragile furniture, and household goods made it through without incident and my new home was protected while my items were moved in. I whole heartedly recommend them for any household move. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

I’m a Moving Consultant at Sourdough Transfer here in Anchorage. Sourdough is a wonderful company to work for. We have low turnover with our movers, and our guys genuinely care about the quality of work they do. This gives me confidence when I am offering our services to the community. I’ve had the experience of setting up many moves here at Sourdough, and it’s a common occurrence that our guys come into my office asking about a customer to follow up. Frequently asking whether the household goods arrive safely, and in good condition. Today I spoke with a customer who said “everything was pack with such care, even the folks helping me unpack commented on how well, and how neatly, everything was packed.” Nothing in her shipment was broken or damaged! Yay! Sourdough will work hard to help your move go as smoothly as possible, and we’ll safeguard your shipment until delivery. Moving is very stressful, and it’s important to select a quality move company. If you don’t select us for your move, be sure to go with a company with experience a good reputation. After all, you don’t know you have a bad moving company until it’s too late. Good luck on your move! You can go to our web site to request a quote, or call the main line and ask for Jane if you would like a free moving consultation. I will be happy to help you out.Posting for customer Robert Tuttle;“Jane, I have had over 15 moves since 1967 and this was by far the best service I have had, all though this wasnt the biggest move (weight wise) I have made, it had more fragile items to pack, and I am glad to say that not one item was lost or broken. Your people were very courteous and extremely good at what they do. Shipment arrived a few days later than you estimated, but that was due to the overloaded receiving company. They were extremely swamped. Thanks to your people for a job well done, Robert” Please contact me for additional customer review and testimonials.* Though, mistakes can be made, we have good reason to believe that some of our competitors have posted bad reviews on this page. Please dont hesitate to call, I would love the opportunity to go over these issues with you. We have a 4+ ratting on google, and an A+ Rating with the Better Business Bureau. Sourdough has been operation in Alaska for over 100 years, and we have a well established reputation.Thank you for your time & have a great day!Jane

Dont let the military make you use this company. Multiple HHG items were stolen, mostly small things. They didnt put half of my small items on the inventory sheet. So one of the movers who packed my closet left my $300 benchmade as one of the last items to box which caught my eye. Then when my HHG were delivered to my new location my knife and other small items were missing. Also when you go to submit a lost/damage claim the military wont pay for it unless its written on the inventory sheet. Reached out to the company but get caught up in phone tag or they dont answer. So I Highly dont recommend this company!!!

This was about a $500 moving job, but they broke $6,000 of my stuff. Hardly a great deal. Destroyed my antique barber chair, destroyed my climazon, damaged a chair. The climazon was behind the door and when they got ready to close the doors they discovered it there so the kid they had helping them picked it up and threw it onto the truck over the wall of my furniture utterly destroying it. They did attempt a lame repair job on the nickel plated cast iron sides of the chair which was broken in two places but of course the weld on cast iron didnt hold and it was caveman looking craftsmanship.

My family and I relocated from Anchorage to Vancouver, WA in June 2017. Knowing the move was coming up, I went online early, all the way back in August of 2016, to research moving options. Sourdough Transfer was one of the many companies I contacted to get an idea of what the cost would be. I found some companies that looked like they would be less expensive, but honestly the reviews of nightmare experiences some people experienced with the various companies were quite disturbing. As I spent time here and there over the passing months, only ONE company stood out as having consistently positive reviews: Sourdough Transfer. I could not find a single seriously negative experience or review posted anywhere. So when it was time to get serious about making moving arrangements, I contacted only Sourdough Transfer. I first spoke with Karen Conover, and she connected me with Jane Russell who arranged to come out to perform an onsite moving consultation and prepare a moving quote. Every single contact I had with Jane, from that first appointment through eventual follow ups at the end of the experience, was friendly, helpful, supportive, and reassuring. She made commitments on behalf of Sourdough Transfer to meet our moving needs, and she saw to it that these commitments were carried through. The moving crew in Anchorage came by on the assigned days and boxed, loaded, and crated our goods just as promised. These gentlemen were friendly and professionally, and did what it took to get the job done well. When Jane called with the actual cost for our move (based on weight), it was somewhat higher than the quoted estimate, but still reasonably within range, no shocking difference. We were given a 4-6 week window to expect delivery of our goods in Vancouver, and our goods arrived on the final day of week 6. Sure, we would have loved to see our items arrive faster, but again, Sourdough Transfer fulfilled their commitment; our goods were not late. The local crew here in Vancouver was another great group of movers, who swiftly and professionally uncrated and delivered our furniture and MANY boxes to exactly where I asked in the house, without causing any damage to our new home. We were pleased to see very little shipping damage to our furnishings, nothing worth filing any claim over, and far less damage than experienced through any previous move (and I’ve moved many times over the years). We would and will recommend Sourdough Transfer to anyone we know in a heartbeat. Thanks for helping make our move as simple as it possibly could have been!
