I wondered around in here looking for my college books with my friends and no one bugged us, we didnt want help so we didnt ask. After we found them we were able to just sit in the coffee area even though the coffee shop itself was closed (all one room.) The lighting was nice and the chairs were comfy.

Overpriced but are good with returns and will buy your books back sometimes. I heard the employees arent allowed to study when its slow. I think they should be able to read a book when they arent helping people like most UAA jobs.

I work in customer service, so I know the difference between great and poor customer service. Im empathetic, so I am respectful and polite when I encounter a customer service representative. When I came in to return a book, instead of getting a polite sorry, you missed the return window I felt like I was being reprimanded. I left and called and talked to a more polite employee who gave me helpful information. I came back and encountered, who I assume is the manager, and she was cold and disconnected. Again I felt like I was being reprimanded. I was at the counter looking at my phone when she says when youre at the counter, its you and me; no phone. Excuse me? Are you my mother? Do you control other peoples actions? No. If I want to be on my own personal device while youre typing at a computer, I will do exactly that. Poor customer service. For the money students pay for tuition and books, we should be getting great service. The student employees are all great, they just have some poor management I guess.

Way overpriced. Do not buy your books from the bookstore. The staff is very friendly and the facility is nice but they charge way too much for books the only thing you should get from here is Seawolf apparel

I like the new layout in there—makes more efficient checkout space. Yeah the books are super expensive, but its Anchorage go ask around if someone has the book if youre stingy. I really dig that theres a space to study there and theres rarely ever a huge line for coffee, unlike other places on campus. And they usually carry the pens I like.👍🏼

Useful for looking at the books you need, comparing prices, and emergencies. Really the only thing I buy there are lab manuals or scantrons.I would recommend going, taking a picture of the book/author you need (if you are unsure beforehand the staff are very helpful) and then buying/renting the book off of Amazon or Chegg. Which are generally cheaper

Slowwww service. I want to support UAA and this bookstore but they make it difficult to do so. Books are organized by author and not classes or subject. I had a pricing discrepancy from the price on the shelf and what the register rang up. After dealing with the cashier stating theres nothing she can do for me, I asked her to call the manager, native middle age lady with short hair; and the manager going back and forth disputing what I said. I finally provided a phone picture of the price tag but the situation was still not resolved. I ended up leaving and purchasing the product directly from the publisher and saved $20.

Pleasant staff. Always available to answer questions. If they dont know the answer they will find it for you!Using my student Wolfcard I save money on supplies. I am also an alumni. With my Alumni card I save 20% on clothing items. Clothing items are reliable and top grade workmanship. This means I can buy gifts for friends and family that advertise my UAA Seawolf pride and are novelties for people living outside of Alaska.Be sure to ask for a drink punch card. You earn free beverages quicker than from other local vendors. Buy 5 drinks and receive $1.60 ( or equal value if less than $1.60) off next drink purchase.

Very over priced and they don’t even buy back the books like they said they would! Complete waste of money! I’ll be buying from companies like amazon from here on out. Never again will I spend a dime at the UAA bookstore, and if they had a better buyback system in place I’d be buying from them every semester. Oh well... another company with unrefined business systems!

I can’t recommend this bookstore to anyone. I graduated from UAA this spring and am taking additional classes to prepare for graduate school. Today I entered the bookstore to look at a statistics book and was told by an employee that “This isn’t a library.” I informed the employee I was a student paying full tuition and enrolled in the course. He insisted I was not allowed to look at it—at all.I understand this bookstore is struggling to compete (let’s be honest; it can’t) with Amazon, Ebay, and others, but coming up to a student and simply saying “This isn’t a library” is completely tone deaf. There are better ways to handle this situation. Textbooks are expensive and many students struggle to afford them in the first place.

This school only exists to take lower class and poor peoples money. They purposely did not complete my federal student loan in order to be able to keep my dividend from my family and I. They purposely teach different from whats on the exams in order to fail you out and take your money.

Called looking for a course-required textbook that they didnt have before the beginning of class. They said theyd call me back and never did. Not open on the weekends, have courses four nights per week- meet me in the middle somewhere cause I cant keep coming in after work looking for a book. Poor customer service and poorer inventory at least this semester.

Their customer service is not very good to be honest. I am a disabled veteran whos been going to UAA for 2 years now, and everytime I go here to get my books for the upcoming semester there is always some sort of issue. For example, they always without failure tell me I have no money on my VA account, which isnt true because it gets reloaded every semester. The workers all seem like they are brand new as well which is frustrating. The hours are horrible, and the week before the start of the next semester they are always closed for some reason when students need to buy their books which is unacceptable. Also when they do close for a day, the bookstore does not put the information online, so if you look online before you leave to see if they are open it will say it is but it really isnt which is a waste of time. Overall highly disatisfied with this bookstore.

Unimpressed ! very disappointing. The bookstore along with other university entities collaborate to maximize cash from students, they enter into contracts with publishers to have unique UAA version of books, so Cheggs, Amazon or eBay become unavailable options for students seeking to reduce expenses. Many, if not all UAA Lab books are printed , sold as loose-leaf in shrink-wrapped format, to be used by students, These students then do their entries on them, then must scan them and turn them back into electronic format .Why not supply the electronic version in the first place, and there is nothing precious about the contents, much of it has been known for decades and centuries. At MIT , Stanford and Caltech ...etc they tell you and work on educating, not enriching themselves or the publisher. How do you suppose the impoverished, and those unskilled coming to the big city cope with being under-qualified? surely your aggressive policies dont make it any easier.... enough said.I think this review is balanced, the bookstore fills in an important role in education here in AK, sadly the interest of students isnt their top priorities. their staff is super professional and friendly.
