Our printer was giving a paper jam error with no jam present. Brought it in and they spent a while cleaning it before figuring out it was a board problem. They said it would be cheaper buying a new printer than repairing it. I appreciated the time they spent and the free diagnosis. My only issue was physically finding their location - it is located inside of a shared building. I recommend putting up some better signage.

I quite like their customer portal and being able to see and add comments and get responses on the ticket. Their were a few issues with getting the right parts, so it took a bit longer than expected, but everything was communicated. If I was waiting, I knew it was because parts were shipping.

My hard drive broke and they recovered the files quickly and calmly. Wonderful work and honestly a LIFE saver. Very thankful for this team!

Gave them my laptop, they charged me a 100 $ non-refundable fee, just to have them call me 5 hours later and tell me there is nothing they can do buy a new one. I fixed the laptop myself it wast even a motherboard failure.

I left my laptop here for repairs for a week. I called multiple times through the week for updates and was unable to get in contact with anyone about the repairs. When I finally came in and asked about the repairs after a week, they had not found the problem yet. I took it to another repair place and they solved it in less than an hour. Would not recommend getting a repair at this store.

I had my iPhone 6 battery replaced a couple of weeks ago and couldn’t be happier. The service technician is nice and knowledgeable. The battery was replaced within a couple of hours and he made sure I am satisfied with everything. For months I had trouble with the battery, my husband kept telling me I should have my phone replaced but I was just not willing to spend hundreds on a new phone while the old phone works perfectly fine. I am so glad I found this place, I had already recommended it to other friends, who too thought they need to replace their phone because of the bad battery...

They replaced the screen on my Macbook pro. The repair was done quickly and well. The staff was very friendly and great at communicating what the cost would be, when I should drop off my machine and when it would be ready for pick up. I would definitely use them in the future. Great service and expertise. I brought my beloved iPad Pro with a cracked screen (tried to shove my backpack into very small overhead bin in plane - still cringing about my stupidity). This iPad works with the new pencil beautifully, and I was very nervous about this capability breaking or degrading after the screen replacement. Adam did an awesome job making sure it all worked perfect. They also have a very concise but efficient communication strategy with the costumer with texts and emails. Very highly recommend for your electronic treasures.

The staff were friendly and the repair was done in a fair amount of time. Also the price was very reasonable. Its been 2 weeks since my MacBook Pro came back and its been working perfectly. Will definitly go back if I have any other tech problems.

The technicians at the Des Moines location were wonderful. They were able to assess and correct the problem in a 20+year old Mac desktop in a timely fashion, and then assured me they would have the work done by the end of the day so we could travel the 200 mile return trip to our home. They even provided extra instructions for additional questions I had to make sure everything was in working order. I plan to use these folks again for our future computer repair needs.

The color of my screen is weird and less colorful than before. Also my battery is dying really quick. It’d drop from 100%to 20-% in 30 mins after I got t back. Don’t know why. But my screen’s fixed ok.

Took my Lenovo 1.5 year old computer in. All of my warranties had just expired so I did some research and found Ames Tech Repair in the ISU MU. Checked my computer in, and paid my $85 deposit. I was then told they were going to diagnose the computer and get parts ordered as late as the next day. My screen had been going black and I was told it was probably just a problem with my display cable. 10 days pass and I had not heard anything, by this time I have had to check out 2 different computers from the ISU Library to complete my school work. I call to see what the progress on my computer is, and am told they have not even diagnosed it yet. They then called me back 30 minutes later and tell me they think they have fixed it but want to run some further tests.....they fixed it in 30 minutes. I picked it up the next day, and upon the first time I opened my computer I had another black screen. By this time I was not happy at all. I dropped my computer off again. I get another phone call from them in the afternoon saying they had seated my display cable wrong. Youre tech guys and you seat my display cable wrong? After doing some research lenovos are known for having the display cables work loose. I also requested a receipt so I could have proof that I paid, and have still not seen a paper receipt. Whoever the manager is did a great job however, he knew I was getting frustrated with being out my computer for almost 2 weeks. He handled the situation professionally.

They repaired my sons kindle fire mini-usb socket. The job was well done, the only reason it is 4 stars vice 5 is that they accidentally broke the glass covering the screen which they replaced at no additional cost, but it delayed the process by 4-5 days. I will be a return customer if the need arises again.

Brought my 2011 MacBook Pro in due to a back light issue... paid the $85 deposit and was told they would look into it. Got a message later saying the backlight issue would be too expensive to fix due to the model of MacBook and to come and pick up the computer. Got the computer back, was able to shine flashlight into the apple logo, signed into the computer and literally just turned up the brightness... it worked fine the entire time. As people working on tech constantly I would assume they would know better than I some trouble shooting tricks. Otherwise, friendly staff hence 3 stars.

I had taken my granddaughters iPad to be looked at, she broke the jack for headphones. I was told that it would need to go to Des Moines for them to install the part since Ames didnt have it. Des Moines didnt fix it for some reason. So a month later iI got it back. Very disappointed in the lack of communication between Ames and Des Moines and that it took a month to get the iPad back!

I had them work on an Apple Watch to replace a part that I wasn’t comfortable doing myself. I brought it to them on Wednesday Sept. 26th. The person I talked to said that it would be back from the Des Moines location on Friday(Sept 28th) and to call him Thursday to see if there was any progress. After calling they had no idea what the status was and that pretty much carried through all of this week (Oct. 1-5). So here it is on Friday(5th). The battery is dead so they can’t see if the watch works. The watch is still at the dsm office and I won’t get it until Wednesday of next week, 11 days after the date that was discussed when I agreed to the price. They didn’t touch the watch until wednesday(Oct. 3rd). If I had to do it all over again I would go with a business that stands by their word. Ultimately I think I called 5 times and was told “let me call them and I’ll call you right back” and you can believe me, not a single time did I get a return call. Ames tech doesn’t treat each client with the respect they deserve and with that, I’m going to have a hard time paying the price they ask for.

I have had the experience of having you service my computer a couple times and have been very happy with your quick turn around and sevice and have not been disapointed. If my computrer ever needs service again, I will not hesitate to seek your service again.

I had the unfortunate experience of breaking the retina display on my MacBook Pro. Repairs were completed on time and as agreed upon. I will be using these guys for all future mishaps.
