The owner is super cool And super chill. He gave me a pretty dope button for my hat. and they have a bunch of deadpool comics. Also Over The Garden Wall comics. Theyve got everything. 10/10 would spend my tax returns there again

The brick and mortar comic book store selling physical comic books is a great American institution... on the same level as Apple pie, skateboards, Saturday morning cartoons, basketball courts, and rock and roll. Aftertime Comics is a relatively smaller store compared to the comic book stores I grew up with... like Earthworld Comics in Albany, NY, and Forbidden Planet in NYC. But it is still loaded with really great stuff for kids and adults, artists and readers, die hard comic book fans and novices alike. The owner is mellow, friendly, and very helpful. An extra bonus that hes a Nittany Lion (Penn State alum). I make it a monthly ritual to go there with my kids. Love it and am never disappointed.

Awesome staff! Super small space with a weirdly large amount of comics. Spoke with the owner about Penn State for a while and he even gave me a discount for it! And prices are some of the best in the area. Highly recommend!

This is the best shop for novice shoppers like me. I could ask simple questions without judgement. Also, the 2 for a dollar deal that was happening allowed me to experiment with different types of comics without breaking the bank!

Good shop with a great assortment of literature despite the small size and knowledgeable staff. Came in on a busy day and still had a good experience. If you are into the local business scene and need a comic book fix, then I definitely recommend. Considering the location you have plenty of options for exploring before and after the visit.

Aftertime has a small footprint but an amazing selection. The space is well organized and its easy to shop. It can be a bit cozy with multiple customers, but it is well worth the crush.A visit to Aftertime Comics is always on my list when I am in Alexandria.

I have been coming here intermittently for the last 5+ years, and I never seem to walk out empty-handed. Howard is GREAT; I recently told him I had picked up an interest in Booster Gold, and he told he me would look around for me....a few days later I got a call, and when I came to the store, he gave me a good Booster Gold starter pack of around 10 issues!I plan to continue to go to the store whenever I need to get my comic fix, which is likely to be soon...

Their customer service is poor. Tried calling them multiple times to start a subscription box and they repeated acted like they had no idea of this and always told me to call later. Learn how to deal with customers better

Worst Customer Service EVER!!On vacation in DC, and since my teenagers are really into comics, I took them to the local comic store. Bad idea! When the children didnt want to buy anything after perusing for about 45 minutes. My daughter was on the fence about purchasing a comic, and my son advised her not to buy the comic at this time; to look at other comic stores where we live; then the owner abruptly said, after all that, youre not going to buy anything?. Then, we stopped at the candy store a few doors down. When I was at the cashier, purchasing my candy, the comic store owner came in and said to me, I guess there arent any candy stores where you live either. Then, he continued to tell my 12-year old son that he needed to learn some manners. After I walked out of the candy store, where my son was holding the door for me, the comic store owner gave my son the middle finger!If you are interested in comics, DO NOT go to this comic store! Go to Big Planet Comics instead! They are much nicer!

First time customer and had a great experience! Older shop with alot of character. Met Wayne who is knowledgeable and well versed in the genre and we even shared stories of old school justice league members cartoons done by filmation. Its just that kind of place where you might go in thinking you will be there for 10 minutes and you stay an hour. I will definitely be back.

Even though this shop is very, very small they do a good job at taking care of you when you are there. Everything I have ever asked for they had for me. Not only that but the owner does seem to be genuinely interested in helping you out!

I love this comic book shop! I go there whenever I can. The staff is awesome, and they are also really nice. Even though it is a small shop, It is packed with comic books.

Ive walked past this store a few times while downtown and finally decided to go in to see if they would be carrying the new Harley Quinn series. The man who was there was really nice and went above and beyond to answer my questions and help me find everything I was looking for! Walked out with 5 comics and only spent 7 dollars, needless to say I will be back (:

I am glad this is my local shop! I just brought my three-year-old son in for his first comic book store experience. He really loves books and we thought this would be a fun way to continue getting him hooked on reading.After reviewing some of the comments about the shop on yelp and google, I was concerned about bringing a young child into the store and thought that maybe the staff might be rude or annoyed. Absolutely on the contrary! A nice man named Howard was working behind the counter and was very happy to help us choose from their vast selection of books. We all had a great experience.Reading at naptime today is going to be a lot of fun! I cant wait to bring my son back in for another great experience.

The size of the shop is made up for by the staff. They have some really interesting older titles, and carry the majority of modern comics as well. Howard is great, and he really wants to help you out when you come in. The only problem is the size of the shop. Due to the size, they dont have some things youd expect them to. And, dont try going on Wednesdays. If theres a crowd, its impossible to move in there. If you want to stay in Alexandria, its the best option for comics.

I love this store; it is tiny and not well organized, but thats part of the charm (at least it is for me). The store has a wonderful collection of both the newest releases with some older volumes. The first time I walked into the shop I was warmly greeted by Howard and asked if I needed help with anything just to give a shout. This was a very different experience than other shops who ignored me in favor of my male companion (I hate the attitude that only the male member of a couple would be interested in comics). Since I read newer releases in digital format, I am always looking for older volumes. Aftertime Comics does not disappoint; I always find something pretty great when I am there (usually a discounted price). If I want something that the store doesnt stock, Aftertime Comics will order it for me, arriving in a week or so.

Huge Fan of this store! Its Tiny and its hard to park on King Street sometimes but what a great collection of books and collectibles. Also a big shout out to the Staff you guys go above and beyond every time Ive been in there recently. I bounce around from Store to Store quite a bit and love walking over on my lunch breaks on Wednesdays!

Howard is always ready to help if you need it probably one of the smaller shops Ive seen but he always gives a discount and I can guarantee you will find something youre inteterested in once again Howard is awesome.

Went in there recently looking for a gift for a good friend. Im not familiar with comics and collectibles. I had a sense of what I was looking for, and with a little help would have found something. But instead, I got grumpy, cold attitude from the staff who seemed totally uninterested in helping me find something. Hell, Im the perfect client--ready to spend money, no idea what Im doing...easy sale. Instead, I walked out within 2 minutes. Waste of time.

Just moved into the area and was looking for a comic shop. Found that this place was closest to me, so I braved the snow and drove out there.There was an older woman there who I assume worked in the store because she was putting books on a display and acted like she knew the owner and cashier really well. She was so unbelievably rude. This woman kept walking in front of me, nevermind that I was looking, and taking books off the shelves. No apologies, no excuse mes. As more people kept piling in, the room to move away from her as she repeatedly kept pushing me out of the way got much smaller. The final straw was when there was no room left, she bumped into me, and FINALLY apologised for walking in front of me. At which point I told her I was leaving so I could get of her way.Its a real shame. The collection of comics they had was more than Ive seen in a while. Anything you could think of was there. But I wont be going back. That first impression was enough.

Called into this place to ask a question as Ive walked by it many times when it was closed. Guy answers the phone in an already irritated tone. I asked if they appraised or dealt in collectible trading cards, and his answer was an abrupt, NO. I said ok no worries and asked if he could recommend a place in the area that might to which he said no again and hung up. Ouch..

Im in this area now and seeing if there r comic stores. I went to the Google photos and realized I was here back in May. This guys as ass. Was ther for an hour lookin through books. I only found 1 I wanted. He seemed pissed. The I have him $5 Bill he snatched it, put it in the cash register and closed the register. I looked at him and said I have u a 5 dollar bill. He said oh, then got My change back out. I wanted to punch him in the mouth, but that would be wrong. A young guy came in while I was lookin to as about storing his wolverine book. He ask the guy questions and the guy seemed to get upset and kinda snapped at the kid so I answered his questions to the best of my ability and he left. Thats when I knew it was time to wrap things up. Im in the area now, but I sure as hell wont be goin there. Sorry I cant leave a zero star
