The staff is often rude, the gates are frequently broken, the lighting is terrible, I cant update my information online, and I could excuse all that but Im paying almost $100 a month for a storage unit and not only is it full of bugs, spiders, an incredible amount of dust, Ive just discovered that several of my boxes and items inside them are water damaged and growing mold, I cant wait to get my stuff out of here for good and never store here again

1st month free, clean, easily accessed, can pull up near your unit, 100% move-in online, and reasonable prices. Lightweight negatives are: a little hot inside, carts are locked up and the elevator is a hassle. I just suggest a 1st floor unit.

This place is not secure and our property was stolen. The walls of the storage units on the first floor do not go up to the structure above and some have 2+ feet of space available for someone to get in and/or lift stuff over and out. Some have chicken wire over the tops while many do not and theres no cameras in these areas. No one on staff checks to make sure that the facility is cleared of people or cars at closing so its easy for folks to stay in after hours. Weve seen signs that people live there. The one star is because the front desk person who assisted during our burglary reporting was courteous. Youd be better off storing your stuff in a more secure place such as Harbor Bay RV and Self Storage.

My unit is on the first floor. Yesterday I discovered that rats had invaded my unit destroying pretty much everything that contained some form of stuffing — especially pillows. I’m still assessing the damage. Not good. I’ve been a tenant for many years. Just had a big rate increase on April 1st. And now I’m dealing with rodents and the path of destruction and droppings they left behind. If they’re in my unit, they’re likely in others. :-(

From booking to completion, I was very pleased with the use of technology to communicate details regarding my reservation. Sam was at the front desk when I arrived and assured that I was aware of all the steps outlined in my contract. I felt very safe with our 6 foot distance and confident that I had all my ducks in a row.In addition, the price was great and the storage units are clean, safe and easily accessible. I can’t recommend Self Storage in the Alameda location enough ~ 10/10!

Central Storage in Alameda is fantastic! Samantha, the Manager, is fabulous!!! Definitely choose them for all of your moving & storage needs. They are terrific!!!

Agreed on the rate hikes. I have been there many years and they raise the rate to higher then the advertised online amount. that should not be legal but they do it. i have called corporate at least twice and had to jump thru hoops to get them to do the right thing. They finally did. As far as customer service Deb is gone so no more rude nasty behavior. I have never had a safety issue and never broken into. i like the ease and drive in ability. My biggest peeve are the ridiculous rate hikes. No loyalty for long term tenants.i have called corporate 2 or 3 times had to jump thru hoops to get the rate that was advertised on line which was less then the rate hike.

WARNING Had items destroyed and lostOutside of my personal bad experience (see below) in general this is a disappointing storage facility:Staff are rarely available and overworked/understaffed.Most storage units are up stairs, far from elevators.Payment machine can be unreliable.Customer website is low quality.Other than that it is a basic storage facility that.Entry gate was broken for weeks (so exit became both entry and exit).IE Facility not well maintained.I was given mis-information by their customer service and so used the lock that was present on my unit. Without attempting to contact me my items were then removed, put out for the taking and many broken (including record player, speakers, blender, computer monitor ~ 400$). This was under the assumption I had taken the wrong unit. Police later contacted me and after they had spoken with another woman who had her items removed confirmed I had been in the correct unit. I emailed multiple members of the staff and never received any kind of apology or compensation. (Our word > yours was as much as I got).TLDR;They do not make an effort to take care of their staff or customers. Understaffed and misinformed support team and on-site. Willing to remove customer items without informing them. Dont risk anything valuable or that you care about with this company.

This storage place is top notch! Wonderful staff with the coolest feature ever ... drive-in storage units! I had public storage before ad it was horrible. Dirty with rude employees. Im glad I upgraded! This place rocks!

Avoid.Not the best place to rent storage from. I highly recommend going local/to a small business.Somewhere you can get real customer service from, if that matters to you.I chose the Alameda, CA location because it’s indoor and offers easy-to-get-to units on the ground floor. It also seemed well secured, til the security roll-up door broke and they didn’t fix it for months! Mind you, it was not like someone drove into it - the door was poorly maintained and the mechanism that rolls it up no longer functioned correctly.Instead of having someone man the gate or setting up a temporary access code at the back, they left the back roll-up door wide open all day... so anyone can get right in. This of course also affect the access hours, tough to get in 10a-6p when you work 9a-5p. No security, no cameras, just wide open.For the months the door was broken I asked for a 10% discount, seeing as they’re not holding up their end of the bargain (basic facilities maintenance and security - which is what I’m paying for. Right?). Immediately denied.They also do not pro-rate the units. So once you pay, you’ve paid the whole month regardless of when you pull your stuff out. They’re not willing to work with you at all.I stored stuff here for exactly 1 year - and I will never use their services again.I genuinely hope they do better at customer care game, otherwise it will probably put them out of business. I’ve had far better experiences with Public Storage than I have here - despite PS being a very large business it’s clear that customers matter to them.With Central Self Storage I’ve encountered:- unaccommodating + rude staff(on phone and in person)- difficulty in reaching customer care(automated phone system leads you to VMs always - no humans without lots of stressful button mashing and luck)- broken facilities- increases in rates- a lack of accountability from the company at large

Look out - over the past 4 years (after being a customer for 10 years) rent has increased over 11% per YEAR! Some on site managers have been great and others not at all helpful. BUT, the increases are absurd (in one case 3 increases in a 6 month period explained as well we didnt increase your rent previously so now we are catching up, it was an administrative oversight. Buyer beware!

Wish there was such a thing as “no stars” because that’s what I would give this place. “Deb” is consistently rude and disrespectful. She is slow and takes long breaks where she leaves the office and no one knows where she is for hours.As we speak, I am sitting outside waiting to pay my bill and have been here for 30 minutes. Two gentlemen were here before me that had already been waiting 30 minutes. Where is Deb?? Who knows?When she IS in the office she is sarcastic and cynical and makes remarks that are offensive to paying customers.I have complained several times to the corporate office and I have received I cannot wait to move so that we can take our stuff out of here!!!Cannot stand these people!

Staff is extremely nice, helpful & a pleasure doing business with. I feel better knowing that my stuff is in a safe & secure place. I would definately recommend them.

All I can say is WOW! Its been a really long time since I have been treated this terrible. Has to be the rudest customer service I have received in my whole life.I walked in the front door at 1:50 PM and was immediately greated with WE ARE CLOSED FOR LUNCH!. Wow......... ok, that was intense. Maybe shes just having a bad day.I asked when they would be back open and was told 3 pm. She asked why I was there and I told her I was just there to pick up some moving boxes. Thats when I received an eye roll to beat all eye rolls. An eye roll that would make a gymnasium full of teenage girls jaws drop, and in total speechless silence all stand up and give a Rudy style slow clap that would naturally progress to a tidal wave of cheers.The look of utter disgust and contempt on her face that I would dare dream to enter Central Self-Storage to buy moving boxes which would have taken no more than 5 minutes.

Very friendly staff and great location (but the can be lots of traffic if you are turning right into the parking lot/entrance). Very clean too.

This storage useto be so koo and the manager was the most understanding person who always kept it real and never houbded anybody but ow that they r under new management this place has become a disaster first off they close at 7 and are located in alameda enough said oh and aparantly their is no grace period now if u dont pay rent on the first they lock up your storage and u arent able to access it till u pay old cut time would be by the 5th and late fees incurred after the 10th if you didnt pay which makes sense also my rent has gone up atleast 5 to 6 times since ive been renting there which is a.common prqctice but theyve gone up rediculously and also this place always got something broken like for some reason ppl seem to always ram the front entrance and back cheaply made which made me question whether my stuff was safe some nights after hearing there was break ins in the past but funny thing is that they dont want to be on storage wars which has been offered to them before because they dont want a bad reputation all I could think was hmmm I wonder why duh its because they know they would be exposed for how they run the place and how faulty they are all I could say is if even if youre desperate to find a storage do not consider this place even as a final option because your stuff wont be safe they only cover up to $2000 of your stuff the new people are rude as f**k and this place has flooded before oh and there is only one freight elevator if your stuff is on the second floor and if u want 24hour or even. Uo 10 oclock access to your stuff not happenin here office closes at 6 and storage at 7 oh but they conveniently have a kiosk outside in front of the office to take your money when its due just incase you d9nt make it before 6 they make sure they get their money. Sorry for the horrible grammar Im at work and super pissed at this place been a loyal tenant since 2014 but they discredit that and treat you like your squatting your stuff there I wont say that Ive always paid on time but best believe Ive never had a late monthly fee that had to accrue for more then the month that was owed in the real world ppl have problems or other priorities that might be more important then their storage or may simply forget to pay some months

Didnt want to give one star.......I was born in this town and I never thought I would be ripped off by the Mgr or her co-workers and I DONT LIE..........my Mother passed February of 2012, I had nothing in there worth $1500 total but had nowhere to put Mothers nor my things, so after >4 yrs later I had to remove storage but that was June 7, 2016, I learned shortly thereafter my Moms antique pot belly stove and two fly fishing rods my Grandfather had brought with him from Rotterdam, Holland as a young man. .....were GONE, I called the Mgr, a Christy, as usual she chose to ignore my call, the calls go to a center out of state, I left my message explaining how upset I was but wanted my items BACK........to date I have not heard from her...........if youre very late she assesses stringent late fees, by the 5th of the month (MY SSA ck arrives to help 3rd, I am alone, no car, she always knew this yet she would hit me again on the 10th of each month and it only gets worse. Bad part is I told her how bad my memory is yet she refused to give me an alert........evil, thief of my life who pretends to be the good gal........WORSE PLACE IN ALAMEDA TO HAVE STORAGE, and I am very serious. .....

After I gave 30 notice after five years and was broken into during that 30 day period.The office staff prevented the police CSI tech from doing her job.Officer also told me they are here often.A fact I did not know.I am a boat captain and travel a lot.

Called asking if they had storage boxes in stock and the woman on the phone said yes. I drove over there a few minutes later only to have (probably) the same woman say they were out of storage boxes.Total waste of time. Wouldnt trust these guys at all.

The check in is very slow: Im waiting in line to up a truck for thirty minutes now, and the reception lady hasnt even served one customer.
