I always go here, but today will be my last time using their services. I brought in my engagement ring, wedding band which is soldered together. Along with a bracelet which I asked for an extra security clasp to be added on to it along with a necklace. All items I wanted appraised. I was told the rings would be priced separately, so 4 appraisals with a clasp charge $576. Which sounded a little excessive but figured I always go here so this must be the best price they can give me. I get a call later where they wanted to charge an additional 150 because the detail of my bracelet and necklace. Ridiculous, now I feel like Im being taken advantage of. I checked other jewelers and they charge 100 per appraisal, but this company starts at 95 per piece. I told them cancel my order and was told they already started working on the ring, so I still have to pay for that. Which they shouldnt have done until they had confirmation from me regarding change of price since I already paid in advance. They are canceling the appraisal on the bracelet and necklace. Their sales associate quoted me wrong but how is that my fault obviously the cost determine if I am going to use their services. 9 years of going there and they couldnt honor the price for a long time customer not to mention military veteran. Shaking my head. Just lost my business and will share my story with everyone.

So these type of stores just don’t exist anymore. People who actually remember your name and face. Who won’t charge you unnecessary amounts just so they can make a buck off of you. I rarely write reviews because honestly I just don’t have the time… or I say I will and then forget to… but because I know these stores are facing competitors like online jewelry places, or the typical jewelry company like Kay’s or Zales I thought maybe a review could help guide people who actually wanted a live person experience instead of someone just being a salesperson. I cannot thank Ken and Angie enough for helping me with my watch that needed some adjustments and gave me some tips on how to upkeep it. Not a huge sale for them, but they treated me like I was just as important as someone there about to spend thousands. I will definitely be there again when I need some advice on my watch or when I need to tell the husband where to go to get my next gift. Thanks so much guys! So so so appreciate it.

Outstanding customer service! My son used their service to fix the spring in his gold chains clasp. Shortly after picking the item up, we noticed a slight dent and brought it to their attention. The Jeweler went out of their way to ensure we received the best service and even exceeded our expectations by fixing one of the pre-existing, very weak links on my sons chain. We are beyond satisfied and would recommend this location!

The service is always consistent and they lead a really good team over there. They were able to address every issue I had in one visit since I brought all the jewelry and had to get some replacements. They were very clear on cost and time frame from the beginning and it was consistent.

Both ladies at this wonderful store were amazing. So kind, so thoughtful, so very helpful. My moms jewelry ever looked so good! I was very happy with the lovely results. We went in to have a custom earring made for a one carat Diamond earning that was lost. They had the perfect cut and size available and they threw in the setting for free! I feel confident we got exceptional quality and a great price. Thanks to Ken, we enjoyed the entire experience!

They noted they are under new management when I commented that I thought they had closed business. I had several watches and a pair of gold earrings that needed repair. They had my watches ready when they said they would, and they were courteous and knowledgeable. I will need to return when my earrings are ready, but so far I definitely recommend them.

I have worked with Ken Sutts before and he has always been very helpful. I bought a 14k gold chain for my husband from Ken, there was a slight problem, but Ken helped me and issue was solved to my satisfaction. He always gives his undivided attention even if I can’t make up my mind. I would give this a 10 star rating if I could. He cares for my jewelry with attention to detail; he recently discovered a loose Diamond in my wedding band and it was expertly repaired there in the shop.This weekend, I attended their Roger Dery colored gem show, and thoroughly enjoyed speaking with Mr. Dery and his wife and learning so much about the gorgeous gemstones he brought with him. It is valuable to me that Jeweley by Designs offers these special events, providing a selection of beautiful jewelry options that are beyond what is widely available and not nearly as interesting as the things that come through this store! Though I don’t necessarily spend big money here myself, I definitely try to bring other customers in, and make purchases on behalf of private customers; this is my local “go to” jeweler and I plan to continue shopping with pleasure at Jewelry by Designs!

Went to their trunk show after being invited by both phone and e-mail. (Yes Im a long-time customer.) I was greeted warmly and asked by a number of staff members if I needed assistance. Lynn, the staff member I usually deal with, promptly showed me the items from the trunk sale. She knows my wifes tastes and the other items I have bought over the years. We looked at a number of items discussing the items and whether they fit my budget and my wifes desires. We found a number of items that would meet my wifes desires but not my budget. No pressure at all. We did find one ring that was perfect. Matched a pendent I had bought previously and was well within my price range. It was purchased, wrapped, presented to me in a nice bag with tissue paper, and a smile. We discussed our future travel and vacation plans and then I went on my way.

I needed my wedding band resized. The person explained what would be done and when I could have it returned. I was surprise to learn that despite the cost my ring was worth more than I thought. I picked the ring up today and was very satisfied with the results.

Honestly, I never gave this store a shot, but I lost my ring and this was one of the few places that honored my insurance. This store is beautiful. I went out of necessity. However, I will be returning because it is beautiful, clean, affordable and the customer service is amazing! So thankful for my beautiful new ring and the great people that helped me find/create it!

Dan helped me design an elegant and simple necklace with a pearl I already had. My pearl has significant sentimental value to me. From start to finish, he made the whole process easy and comfortable. This family run business is one of my favorites. Ken is terrific — helpful, no pressure, highly knowledgeable. I stopped by to see about having a ring sized but with Ken’s able assistance, I found the perfect, hand-crafted, American made, sterling silver bracelet for my daughter’s 25th birthday!

Dan was very helpful and patient in alleviating concerns about leaving rings for their spa treatment. An unknown crack was repaired in the shank of one ring and they were polished and replated with rhodium. They look brand new and I am a very satisfied customer who will be returning!

I been coming here bring my jewelry for repair, Yolanada been the best representative and I went today she wasn’t there another lady was attending me and she was charging me for a repair the same repair I been having from my past jewelry nothin new jus soldering and she charges me double what I always pay for the repair and I always do the rush fee and I still don’t get the price like today the lady was giving me I don’t think I’m ever coming back to this place I only came because Yolanada was very helpful but the other lady need to do better customer service

Yolanda was absolutely amazing with helping me get my rings sized. I took my rings in on a Wednesday and she patiently carefully walked me through the sizing process, checking my rings, asking thorough questions, all while engaging me in excellent conversation. She gave me an amazing price to get the rings sized up one size and when she found out we were going out of town said she would try to have the rings done in time. FIVE days later, I picked them up Monday afternoon and they look like new and fit perfectly! Incredible job well done by the jeweler and Yolanda. Will DEFINITELY be using them again for our jewelry needs!!!

Told them how much I want to spend. Spent almost $1000 more. Came back a couple months later for a return and was told everything I bought was no longer sold. Offered 20% of what I paid. A horrible place of business with very fake people. Stay clear. Now I’m out $2000. Awesome.

Jon Caro had designed my Mother in Laws wedding band, which my wife always loved. The wedding band was beautifully wrapped around the engagement ring. My wife and I went to him with a very specific vision for our wedding bands hoping he would be able to make them, and he did. Jon is the most talented and skilled jeweler we have ever seen. My band is a white gold band with reverse beading around the center which is filled with blue ceramic. My wifes band consists of two bands designed to look as though they are wrapped around her engagement ring and her bands are filled with blue sapphires. Thank you Jon for making our vision a reality!

I am beyond pleased at the service Katy and the other members of Jewelry by Designs showed me and my finance. We constantly ran into issues with the chain stores not taking us seriously (we even had one experience with a mom and pop shop telling us the ring I wanted was the wrong one/ bad decision!), but we didnt have a problem here! Katy was friendly and informative about every step in the process. Im sure I had 101 questions and she answered them all. Im glad we popped in, it was a very eventful experience and she got me what I wanted :) We look forward to doing business here again in the future!

My husband passed away 2 1/2 years ago. Ive been looking for a jewelry store that could take his wedding ring and mine and melt them down together to create an everyday widows ring. To my surprise not many places in our area was equipped to do that. A friend recommended Jewelry by Design in Woodbridge VA. I called, they could do it, set up an appointment and off we went. I found my inspiration ring at their store and it took approx. 4 weeks to create it. Below is a picture of the final product. I absolutely love it and would highly recommend Jewelry by Design. I needed a family ring enlarged and I found this store simply by searching online. So glad I took a chance because I was thrilled with the outcome. They did a wonderful job of enlarging the ring by three sizes and perfectly matching the millgrain on the band, all for a very reasonable price. I was helped immediately when I walked in and the consult took 10 minutes. The work was done in less than a week. So glad I found this shop and would definitely recommend for all jewelry work.

We came to get a new setting for a diamond and Ken found us a beautiful setting and got us all set up. We had to come back twice to get it resized and they were more than helpful and considerate in getting us what we wanted. Having pleasant experience with the previous and original owner of Jewelry by Designs, I went to JbD for few services: diamond trade up, GIA diamond certificates and removing a diamond from its setting. Well, I give 5 stars only to their goldsmith (very humble guy).I wasnt content at all with the customer service that I received!I was attended by Yolanda and she havent seemed knowledgeable to me. For every simple step she had to ask someone else: how to proceed credit card, how to fill a computer form, how much a service cost, etc. Her only good skill was to show me pieces of jewelry that I was interested to see.There was no trade up service fro my HOF diamond, because they do not have trade up policy - thats fine, but I had to leave my $40K diamond in their possession for a week only to find out that (no trade up). My diamond (purchased from the previous owner) was returned to me, but they could clean my jewelry as a courtesy for 1 week waiting. No free cleaning was offered!About the GIA certificates: I was given two different prices for the GIA service. After a dispute the final price for one GIA certificate became $200 + tax. For 3 diamonds I had to pay them $636. For this information (how much this will cost me) I had to wait 1 whole week, because Yolanda couldnt tell me the price, she had (again) TO ASK someone else.I canceled their service and sent my diamonds directly to GIA. I paid $450 as final price. $186 in savings for me!On the top of all, Romeo (who consulted Yolanda about the GIA price) told me, that THEY DO NOT GAIN ANY MONEY FROM THEIR GIA SERVICE, making me feel like a beggar.Sara (Yolandas manager) refunded my money of the GIA service that I canceled without even to look at me or to apologize for 1 week delay only to calculate a simple service price!My conclusions:They wasted 2 weeks of my time: I had to go 3 times to this store, when I could do my job in one visit.I didnt feel like a valued customer of this store.I didnt like how they calculate their service price (could be this, could be that, depends how much the customer is willing to pay).I do not see them as a professional high end jewelers as they pretend to be!

Just a wonderful business. If you like jewelry at a good price, sold by a family owned company, please give them a try.
