Manakiki was a delight to play 18 on a beautiful day. The course was in good condition and pace of play was well established, even with a fully booked day. Not only were staff friendly, but the golfers were too. Each hole is fairly straightforward without too many overt challenges, but the greens made up for that by being unforgiving. They were unpredictably fast and slow; also, the breaks didn’t give nearly as much as we expected them to. Amenities were fair with nothing over the top on offer. Price felt a tad high with cart rental being $14/pp and it being dated/slow, so if walking the $44 feels like a steal for this course. As a twosome with numerous inconsistent shots and several drops, we still played under 4 hours.

First time playing here and everything was great! I couldnt believe the conditions for this time of year. Driving past this place I thought it was fairly flat, but once youre out there every hole has elevation changes which makes it even more challenging and enjoyable. Definitely worth checking out and cant wait to go back!

First time playing this course and it was amazing. The layout was great and challenging. The greens and fairways were exceptionally well kept. It was extremely busy but pace of play was ok given that we were a group of 2 behind a group of 4 but there was essentially a group on every hole in front of us and behind us so acceptable. I would definitely recommend this course and will visit again if I find my way in the area.

One of the best public courses around. Challenging enough and fun to play every time. Starter and staff inside the club house are super friendly. Price is good as well

I recently photographer a wedding ceremony at Manakiki and not only were the grounds stunning, but the staff was so helpful and easy to work with! I cant want to get back to shoot another wedding there soon!! :) Highly recommend.

Played from the Black tees. Plenty of undulations. Some of the holes are very tight with mature trees lining both sides of the fairway. Quick greens that were consistent. Pro shop not very impressive. Very few choices in clothing and hats, the only real negative to the day.

We are lucky…..Played Manakiki for first time in several years. This Donald Ross designed course is well deserving of the various accolades and recognition received as one of the best public golf courses in Ohio, and for that matter, in the country. The Shop staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the prices more than fair. During the round I chatted with some of the ground staff who took obvious and justified pride in their work in maintaining the course to such a high standard. My group (with a 10:10 am Friday tee time) happened to fall in behind a group of aspiring golfers who tried their best, but despite their best efforts, took 5:15 to complete the round. This is a public and taxpayer supported course, so obviously both low and high handicappers should be encouraged to play, but it would be nice to see a friendly and helpful ranger diplomatically help those still learning the game to keep up with the group in front of them. Bottom line - we (golfers) in NE Ohio are lucky to have such a great facility (along with the other MetroPark courses) and I’m happy to cite the 5 star rating in spite of the 5:15 pace.

This course is one of Cleveland’s finest. They offer personal lessons and have a great golf shop. The course is very challenging with far greens and long puts. Not a beginners course at all.

Its an amazing course that is known as one of the best Munis in the country! The staff here are rude and nothing is optimized. Everything is slow from food service to starters. Carts are also very out dated at this point.

Course was in Great shape 6.18.21Pace a of play was great. It truly is one of the top Muni courses in the country. If you like hilly old school courses this has it.

Again, I am a huge fan of old 1920s golf courses, especially those designed by Donald Ross and those of that generation. I was curious to play Manakiki and combined it with a two-day outing to Cleveland to play it and Sleepy Hollow, another former private club course which is part of the Cleveland metroparks system. The course is very well maintained with closely mowed fairways and greens. It is classic Ross with hidden or deceptive sand traps, opening in front with false fronts or traps pinching in the opening, and lots of options if you miss the green. Its hilly so some tee shots are very elevated and some are uphill to hidden fairways. Some holes require you to leave driver in the bag but they arent easy. I absolutely loved my round there and it was in surprisingly good shape after a heavy morning storm. The only downside to the place is the pro shop really doesnt have a lot of merch with the Manakiki logo on it. Even the pencils just say Cleveland Metroparks. They could really sell a lot of stuff I think if they did that. I will definitely be traveling three hours again to play this gem.

I came into town from Michigan took couple of my family members here June 6th second time playing here had the worst experience ever rangers were disrespectful to me to a family member of mine it was his first time playing golf he felt very discouraged after experiencing the rudeness of manakiki staff he did not want to even finish playing because of the staff I also recorded one the Rangers following us every hole we were on the entire time I can understand if they were a private country club Ive played in many country clubs I understand how club rules work they are not a country club you are metro Park a municipal course have better respect for people. the staff payed more attention to my two family members versus paying attention to the numerous 6 pack of beer bottles laying around cans everywhere people smoking weed on the course but the Rangers focused on my family members .

What a gem of a municipal course. It was in fantastic shape. We are down from Canada and had a great round here even though it was raining when we started, we finished up in sunshine.

Extremely disrespectful to me and my family, we wanted 2 golf carts and refused because I am 17 with a valid license. The ranger also harassed us thoroughly our 9 holes he was stalking us which he was clearly staring at us from distances almost every hole

Tried to make us golf with a group and was very argumentative when we simply asked for a refund because no one had told us nor was it listed on their website. staff is rude, especially because we were younger, acted like we didn’t pay for the full thing and asked for our receipt VERY unprofessional

Just an all-around well-manicured course Fairways greens empty boxes are all first class. Duda did this time of the year and the greens were sanded but they did not pose that much of a problem. They did play very fast.

Best metroparks course if you ask me. Interesting, beautiful, and challenging while always in great shape. Can back up pretty quickly, so plan to relax during your round.

Great Donald Ross classic course!

This was the most challenging course I have played in Ohio. Even though it was the end of the season, the course was very well maintained even after heavy rain.

Course was in great shape. Played in less than 4 hours on a Saturday morning. Greens ran true and fast.

Its May and the course needed water, greens were firm, play was way slower than it should have been. People working there were friendly but I am Not very enthused with the course and likely wont return..

I have had multiple bad experiences with the staff at Manakiki, in which I said I wouldn’t go back. When I have gone golfing with beginners they have been treated in a patronizing tone. Particularly with women, the staff have been very condescending and rude. Just yesterday they wouldn’t even acknowledge my friend who is a girl as they told us to pick up the pace. Despite acknowledging their request politely, the staff treated us as though we were children. I always want to share the joy of golfing with first timers, but places like this make it difficult to do so. My friend enjoyed getting to try the sport, but the experience was overshadowed by the rude demeanor of the starter. Go to big or little met instead, they’re much kinder and it’s in a better location. The only reason I’m giving two stars is because the course is half decent.

The greens are in great shape

The most beautiful course I have been to in my life. Challenging, undulating, the greens were pristine, fast, and really, really hard to navigate. So many putts! Long tracks so make sure your driver works! Mad props to these grounds anns maintenance crews. The course was in incredible shape. The trees and botanicals were breathtaking. Your game might stink, but the view is well worth the price of admission. Manakiki is a true gem here in NE Ohio and we are so lucky to have her.

Best public course in Northeast Ohio.

Make sure you bring some extra balls. I lost quite a few but I still have a lot of room to improve my game. Beautiful course with no 2 holes that are similar and a various challenges. Greens are FAST. the ball will not plug, its gonna roll....right off the back in my case. Very well maintained course. The only blemish on an otherwise amazing day were the clowns behind us that hit our cart and then hit past us without yelling fore. We let the rangers know (plenty out and about) and it was no longer a problem.

5/15/2019 This is the first time I played this course. Still very wet from the weeks of rain which is completely understandable. For the beginning of the season the course was in decent shape. Greens were very fast and rough was pretty tall. But overall i will definitely be back to plan again soon.

Mankiki is a very well-maintained course. my only complaint is when we book the tee time I wish we would have been informed that they were aerating and sanding the greens.

An excellent and classic Donald Ross course. I was also impressed by the Integrity of the staff. They had aerated and top dressed the greens before my planned visit and they called to offer me an opportunity to reschedule. Im glad I kept the tee time. The course was in excellent condition. The greens firm fast and true even under those conditions. Excellent Pro Shop staff. Excellent food staff. Had such a grand time Im going back tomorrow even though it is over an hour and a half away. It is well worth the trip to play on historic golfing grounds!

Beautiful but challenging course. I am sure I would appreciate the beauty more if I was not constantly in a bunker. If you have the skill I definitely recommend. Also with all metroparks courses cheap beer and good food. Well worth the additional cost.

Great course. Was a good challenge and a lot of fun

I have only used this club for formal portraits and have no opinion of the rest of the course. A beautiful venue for prom pics, homecoming pics or senior pics. Indoor foyer has a beautiful staircase, a grand piano and a fireplace to use as props. Outdoors there is a beautiful area under the trees that has a platform with columns that are great for props as well.

After attending a wedding here all I can say is that they do it right. Very nice clubhouse appears to be freshly renovated with excellent facilities. Bartenders were very friendly and staff was awesome. The police provided as well did a great job and this was one wedding that went awesome definitely a spot to throw a great party

Great older course with lots of undulations and character. Can be slow during the weekends, but what public golf course isnt? Greens fees are affordable and well worth it. Highly recommend

The best part of Manakiki is the its the PERFECT place for parties, weddings...etc. Its absolutely gorgeous inside and everyone is friendly. It cost more bu trust me you will make memories here! And its closer to the freeway which is good if you have out of town guests.

I was officiating a wedding and the building inside and out is beautiful. The staff was professional and attentive and the grounds and landscaping add to the ambiance. I would recommend it most highly!

Manakiki was well-managed for Sunday morning at a Metro Park Golf Course very pleasant staff which is unlike a metro parks courses. They tend to be pushy and rude.

I was there for a reception following a funeral mass. The space is beautiful and the food was well prepared/done. I havent heard any complaints about the golf course.

Golf course has improved over the last few years. It costs more than others but its challenging enough and has a fee uphill approached. 8-9 were challenging for me. Part of the metroparks was private. Food is good and portions are large.

Had a prepaid tee time on a day with rain but the course didnt close. Low price for such a nice course. It was very wet but I cant blame that on the course. Very beautiful and I cant wait to go when its dry.
