This place is great. One of my favorite places to go to for dinner dates with my wife. Food is always delicious. Their specials are always new, interesting, and amazing. The staff is super knowledgeable about the food and also take my wifes AIP food requests with care. Fantastic experience all around.

We had a $100.00 gift card and were so excited after hearing good things.Bought the jalapeno brats that were dry and w/o flavor, the skin was tough as well. We also purchased 2 ribeyes that were mediocre and 2 bacon jams that were OK. We had $6 left so I picked out some seasoning, havent tried it yet, but we wont be back.

Bring your appetite; large portion sizes. Great service. Fun Butcher Block martinis (if you like gin try their Disco Devil 10). The Roasted Local Apple Salad is great. Steaks and pork chops are hefty portion sizes and a cooked superbly. The pork chop with the sweet potato hash is fantastic. Their burgers are excellent also. Probably the best french fries in town. The flash fried brussel sprouts are good, but they could be better if they had a little less oil on them.

In all fairness, the steak did say it came with steak sauce, but I assumed it would be on the side. I’ve never gotten a high end steak laying in steak sauce... the sauce was good. No idea about the steak because I couldn’t taste it. The Mac and cheese was great!

One of our favorites in town. Because they use natural ingredients and grass fed steaks this was always a place we could hit up if were were trying to do keto or Whole 30. I always go with the ribeye steak and fries, but get the sauce on the side.Rarely have we seen the place packed with a line, but we may just be going at awkward times. Ambiance is pretty chill. They have a solid draft beer selection. Service has always been good to great. Parking mostly off-street with a smallish lot behind it, but the side block right next to the place usually always has spots.

The atmosphere was warm and cozy with a hint of refinement. Its a great place for a date or a nice evening out. They staff couldnt have been more compliant. Very friend and knowledge. They are butchers shop so vegans need not come. Offerings were exceptional. The brussel sprouts appetizer are excellent, not healthy considering the bacon and bacon grease but they were brilliant! The flatbread with chicken and pork special were absolutely delicious. The Block is definitely a step up from the chain restaurants and below a restaurant in clayton. It is perfectly situated in Webster Groves. I high recommend.

Ordered an 8oz filet mignon thru Uber Eats for my wife’s birthday dinner, arrived very well done and not even edible. Who cooks filet mignon well done anyway?! Paid over $40 for a steak she couldn’t even eat because it was so over cooked. Kindly called to explain the issue and offered to drive over and pick up a new steak. They talked to the manager and came back and told me it wasn’t their issue, but blamed it on Uber Eats and said that I could pay for a new one?! Wow, what an offer! Lost a customer and will be sure tell all of my local WG friends and family how lousy they treat paying customers. Trying to support local restaurants during these difficult times you’d think they would want to keep customers??

An interesting butcher/restaurant with very tasty food. The interior is modern with a cool vibe and outdoor space. We got the 3 ribs as an appetizer. Kind of an odd choice for an appetizer, but so delicious. They are huge and they fall off the bone. For entrees, the pork chop with a sausage/asparagus hash and the most amazing whipped potatoes along with the chicken and roasted potatoes. Overall, a very great experience with some meat that makes you feel good where it came from. Will definitely go back.

My dinner experience started with a 1 hour wait to get our food followed by the worst steak I’ve ever been served. Seriously I so wanted this to be a great restaurant but it disappointed in many ways. Starting with the size of the steak. Unlike most great steak places that prepare a thick steak for grilling, this place served me a $36 dollar steak that was barely a 1/2 “ thick. For a place that prides itself on doing their own butchering, this is unforgivable. But the real disgrace was the taste which was dry, over cooked and tough. I wound up eating just the broccoli which was over seasoned but I was starving and didn’t want to wait another hour for a “do over” steak. They took the uneaten steak off my bill but no one including the manager seemed too upset about it. I’m not sure anyone even apologized. Stay clear of this place.

Got 4 burgers and 2 kids burgers, charged $2 for a sauce that barely covered a bottom of a Dixie cup. Service was horribly slow, when asked after waiting for nearly and hour And still no food, I asked to get a soup, I was informed, she only has 2 people in the kitchen and it will probably take longer than the food to come out. We thought we would get some desserts, bread pudding and a brownie with ice cream, the ice cream was scoped with a Mellon scooper, and the bread pudding was smaller than a half dollar and it was burnt. Needless to say it was over $160 with the tip and I would never again want to experience this again.

Tonight was my first visit to The Block. I heard they had great steak. We arrived and were told the wait was about 40 minutes. After 25 minutes I asked how much longer. The hostess and her trainee, who were both around 19 years old, said another 40 minutes to an hour. I said we were told initially the wait was 40 minutes. They both said no we said the wait was 40 to 90 minutes. For a place that doesnt even have a price on the menu for steak, this was most disappointing. We left.

$$$$ - Be aware; google reviews Good is the second lowest rating. If there was just a Fair that is how I would rate it.Ribeye was nothing special - I mean, it was good, it wasnt leather, it was cooked how I asked, but I cant say it was a great experience. A little salty. The Petite Medallion was good, a little sweet. The Rib was mostly fat with a touch of meat here and there, and was so peppered the flavor of the beef was missed. Now the $7.00 piece of carrot cake we took home - well, it was good, not to die for. The most impressive part was just how THIN of a slice of cake it was. Literally, this piece of carrot cake was less than a 1/2 thick at the heavy end. I really have no idea how they sliced it this thin and got it into the box without it falling apart. In closing - if you are a yuppie and want to eat at a place that claims local purveyors, this is your place. If you want a steak where you taste the meat, and a good meal, maybe firing up the grill at home is a better option.

Previous comment: Food was so salty it was not enjoyable, told waitress and my concern was not addressed appropriately. Not happy at all!New comment: thank you for the response. It’s unfortunate, because I think the salmon would have tasted ok if not for all the salty vegetables and top of the salmon was over salted. My taste buds at that point were gone. Also, if you are going to say your fries are garlic and herb, throwing a ton of garlic salt on them doesn’t cut it. Use real garlic and herbs.I did eat the salmon, but I feel I should have had a free or discounted meal, or asked if I wanted a new meal/vegetables. Thank you.

I visited The Block with my boyfriend and his family last night and we were unfortunately all very disappointed. Our server was very polite and gave us two recommendations from the menu - the Pulled Pork Sandwich and the Pork Dumplings. It took us well over an hour to get our food. It wasnt crowded at all - maybe just four or five small tables of guests along with ours. I ordered the Pulled Pork Sandwich at the servers recommendation. Im pretty sure that they actually served me a Short Rib sandwich instead of pulled pork because it didnt look or taste anything like pulled pork (and short rib meat was featured as a flatbread special on the menu). It was very bland and looked like pot roast. I had my boyfriend try it also and he was very confused and agreed it didnt taste anything like pulled pork. I asked the server for some BBQ sauce and he looked at me like I had five heads. He brought out a tiny ramekin of BBQ sauce that seemed to be thrown together in the kitchen and it was pretty much straight vinegar. I used it anyway to try and make my sandwich better (no luck). Out of the five people at our table, only my boyfriend was okay with his pork dumplings and he will eat and be happy with pretty much anything. The other person who ordered the pork dumplings hated them. Someone else in our party ordered the pork chop and another the burger. We all agreed that the food lacked flavor and we could go somewhere else and have a much better meal for much less. They charged us $3 for a teeny tiny ramekin of garlic aioli to eat with our fries. Thats just silly. Its a cool little spot with a nice atmosphere but not worth another visit. Its sad when the best item on the menu is the french fries but that was the case here. The garlic aioli was good too.. but, oh yeah, $3?! Ummm, yeah, nope. Bummer.

There is no doubt that the food at The Block is good. I wouldnt say the steak is great but the white wine pork was wonderful if youre into heavy food. My biggest complaint is you cannot make reservations, not even for a large party which resulted in almost a 2 hour wait. On top of that we had a birthday in which case I brought a 5 inch cake surrounded by cupcakes. I asked them to keep it in the kitchen for me only to be told that if you bring in a cake there is a 2.50 per person fee similar to a corkage fee as if I brought in a bottle of wine. Seriously, there was no effort required on anyones part for me to bring this cake in. Even if they didnt store it in the back while we ate there is still a $2.50 per person fee. I hardly think I should have to pay an additional $25.00 to bring in a $12.00 cake after we just spent over $500 eating there. This policy will have me not returning to this restaurant, like a said the food is good, not great.

We had to wait to be sat even though half the tables were empty in the whole restaurant and 5 people working. I ordered a burger with bacon, ketchup and also an entree salad. It was 45 mins before our food came out. The burger did not have bacon nor a side of ketchup and the salad was soggy. Both were small portions for the price. When we asked about the bacon he said he would simply take it off the bill but did not offer to bring out new bacon. Another 8-10 mins to run the CC. Someone called after us thanks but we were already out the door...again, 5 people working the floor and only 5 tables sat by the time we left. We probably will not be back.

My last visit to The Block was about 6 months ago - our server was awful and my husband wasnt in a good mood, so I left feeling very eh. But Im super glad that I went back tonight with my father and grandfather! I decided to jump in an try new things! The two other times Ive been, I got the pulled pork sandwich and a side of the potato and bacon hash - which is absolutely incredible! But I didnt want to get caught in that rut where I order the same thing every time. So my dad helped me switch things up! He ordered The Three Pigs sandwich and I ordered their special sandwich for the evening - beef brisket with Swiss. And we didnt swap out the side, we went with the fries and pickled veggies. And let me tell you, these fries are spectacular! Theyre thin cut (think McDonalds size), perfect amount of crunch and perfectly seasoned! As for those veggies - I usually dont care for pickled things, but with these I could really appreciate their fresh taste. I believe they made them and they havent been sitting in a jar of chemicals on the shelf for the past three years. The brisket sandwich was enormous! - think long sub sandwich. Now, this sandwich was very nicely seasoned and very yummy and I would recommend it to everyone. However, The Three Pigs, was out of this world and puts every other dish to shame! The meat on its own was so freakin flavorful! I dont even remember what cheese was on top because it didnt matter! Im glad that this is one their menu all the time - I can return and have it again soon!(Then theres dessert. I will warn you, their desserts run a little small, which makes me sad.) Their chocolate ice cream with candied bacon is simply out of this world! But, like I said, I was determined to try new things! So dad and I shared two scoops of ice cream (cinnamon and coconut brown sugar) and the Chocolate Malt Pudding. Ice had the cinnamon ice cream in the past and have always loved it, but I have to say that the rest of the dessert put it to shame! The coconut brown sugar tasted less like coconut and more like the most amazingly delicious brown sugar ever! Both dishes came with a gingerbread cookie which was surprisingly sub-par comparatively - too cakey and not very gingery. But the pudding also came with two toasted marshmallows! The pudding was very smooth and almost had the consistency of a thickened caramel sauce. It was super sweet and you get a pretty decent portion so I was very happy! Fingers crossed that at least one of these desserts are still on the menu!next time I visit!
