Honestly I like the architecture and the upstairs but something about this building feels like its mostly just an apple store. Not a bad thing but I was a bit underwhelmed by this place as a landmark or even a library. Feel slide an Apple store with a library in the attic.

The building is beautiful and the staff is very attentive. On the first floor, you will find an Apple store, but on the second floor there are two main exhibits: The Big Picture, with great panorama pictures (before smartphones), and a room with a timeline on DC history. Totally recommend to go and, please, if you love it as I did, leave a voluntary donation.

Case of I said/You said. Dropped off computer for repair and check-in staff and genius people were beyond nice and knowledgable. Unfortunately, it was marked my power cable was not left behind (or they lost it?) and upon picking it up, noticed it was missing when I got home. The local phone # is impossible as it brings you to a universal apple line, so finally getting through, it was marked in the notes that it wasnt left behind... . Best case they could do was transfer me to a lost & found which rang and then disconnected. What ever happened to a) customer is right b) help the customer out in a situation? Its not like this is a mouse or keyboard or some thing that could be used as a scam, its a POWER CABLE Or, hey sorry for this, we have several sitting around, can we offer one to you?. Just, its not here and off I go on my own. So, here I am paying for some after-market knock off on Amazon. Imagine how much better customer service could be if they put the time and bandwidth into it as they did with multiple outside check-ins, temperature checks, guided marks on the floor, and greeters pointing to markings where to stand?

Actually i agreed to meet a friend there. It was a center for vaccination buy otherwise closed for the moment due to covirus. It served its perpose. A grassy area infront of the convention center. Pleasant environment with benches and peace in the city. You can meet eat a sandwich take a coffee and a rack to leve your bike. If you want a bite or coffee walk up 9th street towards N and there are a number of small places coming to life. Lunch menu etc. Try the Union Cafe its a small corner supermarket get a sandwich or a latte. Nice staff interesting selection of groceries. Likes dogs.

This historic library is now the home of an Apple store beautifully repurposed/refurbished and tastefully done to display the state of the art wares of the tech giant. Was there to repair a damaged iPhone screen. You have to make an appointment to be seen, no walk ins. They are screening customers for Covid and taking temperatures as well as orchestrating socially distancing seating and one to one services.

Its probably a good place to visit but not many are allowed to visit seems like because of the pandemic. The only time Ive been inside, there wasnt much to see since it was just opening. Theres likely plenty of more history about DC inside which l have probably missed out on, so far. The park outside of it is a good place to sit out and hang out, for a picnic or for small gatherings.

Very cool. The entire tired floor is the biggest Apple store Ive seen in DC, the basement holds a history tribute to the building, and the top floor is a small DC history museum I believe. The building is just stunning. The Apple aesthetic fits pretty well with the mass of stark white stone everywhere. Though it feels a little like a church to Apple consumerism.

Carnegie Library is an interesting model. Its a historic library opened by the Carnegie family in 1902 (it was dedicated in 1903). During a time when most places in D.C. were segregated, this public library was for everyone. The architecture is gorgeous and theres plenty of space to read and relax. However, it closed in the 1970s.After a few decades closed, it reopened with the DC Historical Society inside. It housed the Society and was used for events for awhile. However, the upkeep was too much.In May 2019, the library reopened with the help of Apple. Spending an alleged $33M, Apple restored it using its original floor design. They have, of course, retail inside, but the majority of the space is used for the community. Apple has daily free classes on design, coding, and photography. They have a program to teach kids to code through dancing robots and teachers how to use tech in the classroom. Theres a space for entrepreneurs to help them grow their businesses. The basement has an exhibit that tells the story of the actual building. Upstairs is where the DC Historical Society still is and Apple helped them build a research library with 100,000+ cataloged photographs, thousands of books and maps as well. They have two galleries telling the history of DC. Theres also a Shop Made In DC selling local items from cards to coasters to snacks.Regardless of your stance on big business, its worth visiting to see a beautiful, historic building and a new model of preserving spaces.

Im not even an Apple person but Ive had such great experiences at Apple Carnegie!I have been to fun events like the grand opening, photo tutorials, Art All Night, and Ive seen speakers like Rep. John Lewis. Most recently I took my cousin who was visiting from out of town and managed to freeze her iPhone while trying to do an update. They checked to see when her phone was last backed up, attempted to reboot it without doing a factory reset, and when that failed they did the reset and fixed her phone. All for free! While she was being helped, my Mom was able to ask another representative about doing custom back ups and was very pleased.
