We were very happy with Allegheny Outfitters. Their staff is helpful and friendly. The on-line booking process was very easy. Their shuttle vans are very nice and their store is awesome. Its also right next to a craft brewery which is nice. We rented a canoe for a day trip from the Kinzua Dam back to their shop in Warren PA - approx 8mi. While they had it as a 4hr paddle, the river had nice flow and we made the trip in about 2hrs. paddling at an easy recreational pace. The scenery is great we saw 2 eagles, king fishers, many ducks and other wildlife. The only minor drawback is the constant sound of traffic from Rt 59 which parallels Allegheny River. The last mile of the trip into Warren passed by United Refining which was not scenic yet interesting in a different way. We also liked the short minor rapids in this area. We enthusiastically recommend Allegheny Outfitters. We will be back to try other day trips and perhaps multi-day trips.

I have relied on Allegheny Outfitters for canoe and kayak rentals as well as shuttling of personal boats, a friendly stop in Warren on our Allegheny River trips, and a source of fantastic up-to-date information on river conditions and safety for years. I highly recommend buying their river guide book if you plan on doing any multi-day trips on the Allegheny. I have a first edition and its served me well on many trips. 🙂

I went in search of a map I couldnt find available online and AO had it no problem. Great atmosphere in the store with a large variety of boating and camping stuff like basics and some specialties. A large selection of hammocks caught my eye and camping cookware plus stoves were available outdoor clothing with a variety of prices and styles. They also have bike parts. Seemed like they were very focused and knowledgeable about the local area so a good place to go if you had questions about outdoor activities here. I plan on going back for some more stuff soon

Allegheny Outfitters are the go to outfitters for any of your river needs. We have been using their services for 4 years now for our annual Allegheny River trip. Their personal car shuttle where they pickup your car at your put in location and drive it to your takeout location is ALWAYS perfect! During one of our trips we even had a hole develop in our personal canoe partway down the river, Allegheny Outfitters went out of their way to help us... they stored our broken canoe, set us up with a rental canoe (at an amazing discount) and had us back on our way down the river in no time at all. We really wish all outfitters on all rivers would use Allegheny Outfitters as a model of how an outfitter should be! We love that everyday you post on facebook about current and forecasted river conditions, keeping their customer safe is their number one priority and we cannot say how much we appreciate this! These folks are very nice and friendly. However friendliness and deliverables are two very different things.I booked with their shuttle service weeks in advance. We have our own equipment and Allegheny Outfitters were going to drive my vehicle from Kinzua dam to the Buckaloons where we camp. The day we were leaving I get a message they need to cancel my shuttle because the Allegheny is flooded. Flooded is excellent for my canoe, which is powered and uses a prop.Allegheny Outfitters was booked well in advance for a simple (but critical in our plans) service: drive my transport vehicle to our destination. That driver isnt impacted by the river status.I had to hurry up and try to find another service, so far I have not but am hoping on Uber to come through. I am deaf so Allegheny Outfitters doing it by email was great, but very difficult to find another service in 1 days notice. Allegheny Outfitters themselves requires at least a weeks notice (they gave me less than 48 hours notice).Save yourself the aggravation and find a service that is going to deliver.

First time on a kayak for us, they were very helpful and very reasonably priced.

My girlfriend recently bought us 2 kayaks from here as a birthday present. We cannot speak highly enough of them. They have been super helpful with everything.

We purchased almost $ 6,000.00 in kayaks & gear in June of 2020 from Allegany Outfitters of Warren,PAIncluding 6 Old Town Kayaks all but one kayak came in.The last kayak in our order took almost 7 months to arrive.I thought we were doing business with a reputable company, but we were sadly mistaken & taken advantage of.The last of our kayaks arrived & when we went to pick it up, they gave us a kayak in a color that we did not order.They gave us one of a different color & basically told us we agreed to take that color.They basically told me I was lying.Be wary of doing business with this company especially if you pay all upfront.They have clearly lost our business & we will never recommend their business to anyone !

Just came back from a lovely trip! Made a reservation in advance, but had some very last minute changes. Sue was able to accommodate me and made a better trip recommendation for me and my pups. We had an absolute blast that was totally worth the drive. I hope to come back again in the future for a longer trip with friends :)

Awesome company! The people are awesome and equipment is excellent. We had a lovely 5 hour kayak paddle from Warren! This is the 2nd trip this season. Each time it was excellent! We saw bald eagles and heron! Beautiful!!!!

This is my FAVORITE place in Warren! As an avid kayaker, they have so many options of places to go. They are extremely conscientious of cleanliness. Also their store is packed with boating supplies, t-shirts and fun gifts! Definitely stop here if you are staying in or near Warren, PA!

This was my first visit and its a GREAT looking store!I only picked up a few gift items but they had a great selection of gear for outdoor adventure.The classes and adventure opportunities they offer are very impressive.If youre a fan of the Allegheny National Forest, youll love the place.If I lived closer, I live in Erie, Id be taking advantage of their expertise.

All your camping, kayaking, bicycling and hiking needs under one roof! The old store on Pennsylvania Avenue was good, but the new store is FANTASTIC, with enough space to hold a large variety of big-ticket items. The prices are actually quite reasonable for a specialty store of this type, so expect value. The people who run the store are very experienced outdoors(wo)men with a LOT of travel experience, so their advice is always knowledgeable and welcome.Additionally, they often host movie nights, travelogues, equipment tryouts, and group hikes, so they are very much involved in the community and conservation efforts.

Such wonderful and friendly staff! We tried to rent a canoe but were told the river was too high that day. Instead they recommend some beautiful hikes in the area and we had an awesome time exploring. Came back the next day and got our paddling fix with a very enjoyable and relaxing cruise down the river. Will absolutely come back to AO the next time we visit!

These ladies care about your outdoor needs. If its hiking, kayaking, paddle boarding they can set you up with exactly what you need. They are well educated and have great advice on whatever your ready to adventure in the great outdoors. They are amazing and I wouldnt go anywhere else.

My family has been using these guys for our annual canoe / kayak trip down the Allegheny. They are so nice. For them is really is all about helping families have a good time connecting on the river. Tip: They are very busy so they dont answer the phone much. Leave a message. They will get back to you. They WILL go above and beyond to ensure you enjoy yourself.

What to say about AO..... Just their efforts with the community should be enough reason to shop here.But besides that Piper and her crew are super friendly, knowledgeable and have a great selection of toys and equipment for venturing into the Alleghany National Forest on WATER or LAND!!They have all kinds of local adventures available that you can book for kayaking, canoeing and paddle boarding.

Awesome business staffed by friendly people. We did trip #2 from the Kinzua Dam back to the Allegheny Outfitters HQ and had a blast. Trip was estimated at 3.5 - 4 hrs long, however we did it in 2.5 without pushing hard. We will definitely be back!

The owner, Piper is easy to work with, and has lots of good stuff in place to make a float from the Big Bend area of the Allegheny super easy to accomplish. Many choices of boats, and equipment to fit all.
