I transitioned from a customer to a volunteer for this charity. After some time spent in the shop, I decided this would be a valuable learning experience. After one year in Rons volunteer program, I became the go-to person for the refurbished servers in the store. This has served me well, as I am now in my medical residency program, where I am putting that knowledge to use in building up my programs IT infrastructure and research capabilities by helping to advise our department and lab on which servers and other equipment will best fit their needs and future proof for experiments down the road.Fantastic charity that does good for the community and volunteers! Pay them a visit today!

An excellent local (Metro Detroit) resource for donating unwanted electronics and/or buying refurbished laptops, computers, etc. Ron the proprietor is enthusiastic, helpful, and devoted to lessening the environmental impact of our many used electronics. I was grateful to find this place that would appreciate both my defective Intel 7th gen i7-7700 from 2018 as well as my obsolete Sony Vaio from 2004. Feel glad I can also bring my various other unused electronics parts here in the future. I think Silicon Alley Recyclers provides a valuable service in the form of giving new life to used electronics. Happy to have found them by doing an internet search for places near me to donate computers.

Ive bought several computers over the years from this place, and have always been delighted with my purchase. I highly recommend it if you want a good solid laptop or tower, but you dont really need a new one.

I was able to drop off my old laptop and a bunch of outdated cables, cords, keyboard, camera stuff, etc, without being charged! Geek squad would have charged me to take my laptop, and would not have taken the other stuff. I LOVE that I have a place to take my electronics for recycling instead of tossing in the trash, and filling the landfills with hazardous materials. They have electronics for sale too, I was only there to drop off though.Thank you so much Silicon Alley!

Offers volunteer programs of which Ive participated in , it boosted my experience and knowledge in the information technology field and it gave me the courage to do better with myself. I am now an I.T. Professional from being a drop out. In general though; Business grade computers , large stock, hard to find tech, cleaned up, great refurbished machines. Recycles old technology so that it doesnt end up in landfills that hurt the environment. Ive personally purchased equipment from the owner myself, in-fact Im typing this review on a laptop I purchased from them right now. Thanks Ron!-2020 UpdateIve now been promoted in my career twice now, and it all started here.

I have known the owner of this recycling business for over ten years and have purchased many computers and a few copiers from him. His prices are the absolute lowest anywhere. All of his computers are used as are the copiers. He gets the computers from businesses and professionally wipes the hard drive and re installs the same operating system. I have purchased several desk top and several laptop computers from him over the years. On every purchase he demonstrated that the machine was in working order and I was invited to check it out in the store. I have no complaint on any machine I bought there. He usually runs computers steadily for a week as a test. The several copiers I bought over several years all worked fine. Copiers are complicated, do wear out and I have run some into the ground but he can prove it is working before you buy it. But considering I paid a very low price everything I got there, the place has real bargains. Considering you are getting the operating system for free and everything is provably working OK, I have not had a problem with his as is policy.

This place is amazing! Ron is very nice and knowledgeable. Not only does he help people with great priced computers, but he helps mentor on computer repair as well. He also does a fantastic service by recycling all kinds of items so that they dont go in the landfill. Ron is doing a lot to help out! I highly recommend checking his place out.

Very helpful. They had a power supply for my old Dell, and at a reasonable price. He knew what I needed and where it was. A quick purchase, but stayed to chat.

I bought a lab top PC and for $200 and it works great. He even threw in a free carrying case with it. I like the way it runs, and the guy that runs the place, his name is Ron, was very helpful and took his time to answer everything about other stuff too. I highly recommend them.

Mark is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. I primarily visit for periphials and cables but you can get pretty good systems for general use here. Im a gamer who builds his own and I routinely can get supplies to finish things off.

A nice selection of vintage hardware, however everything I picked up to buy was not for sale. The excuses ranged from it was not tested yet to it might be going on Ebay. Doubt Ill be going back since it is a 45 minute drive from my house. I was excited to go, and left extremely disappointed.

If you have never been ripped off and want to keep it that way. Dont take your computer to this guy. I wouldnt advise buying a computer from him either. Ron is not doing anything non-profit. He gets paid. NO GOOD!

I recently purchased a copier from Silicon Alley, after I got the copier home it ran one copy and about 5 codes came up. I had to call a copier repair person. Pretty much the repair person told me that it would cost me more to fix it then to buy a new one. What angered me the most was the owner accused me of doing something wrong to the copier (thats absolutely absurd)! It is my opinion that if you buy something from this company you might want to bring a technician with you. It is apparent that they Can Not service the products themselves.Pastor E
