Weve used this location off and on for 20 yrs. The service used to be quite mediocre. We are currently moving out of the area and have had reason to come here often for boxes, and the service has been outstanding. Id give 10 stars if I could!

Helpful staff and quality products. Chauntel and Naomi helped me turn a last minute fiasco into a fairly easy experience. They worked with me to help get me what I needed, and they did it in a polite and understanding manor. I’ll definitely be coming here again for my moving needs!

I usually don’t write reviews based on negative experiences, but this experience warranted as bad of a review as you can get. As you’ve probably seen in multiple reviews, the general manager that runs this location is a terrible representation of the Uhaul company. For someone to work in a primarily customer service based job, Uhaul may want to reconsider who they hire because she was extremely rude, unhelpful, and incredibly unprofessional. I was lied to by her “assistant manager”, a younger female employee who claimed we could return the truck at any location, which led to us doing so and then being overcharged over $200 more than we were supposed to. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. So do yourself a favor and pick a different company to rent from altogether.

These people are the most unprofessional people Ive ever met. I brought back a van in perfect condition with more gas than it came with and Was told that they had a pick up for rent. When I got to the location, they had rented the pickup to someone else and got completely nasty with me. Literally the worst Ive ever been treated in business. After the lady spoke to me outside this way, I went in to speak with the manager in the manager told me get out!

This is a moving truck rental place so from the outset I was a bit leary. Turns out after a few minutes in the place my opinion brightened considerably. They are set up to handle this pandemic safely. The place was clean and the people I dealt with friendly. They made me feel comfortable and confident of the service they were providing. The 10 Ft truck we rented was clean and ran well. This was only a small job of only a couple of hours but it was important to me. If we need another truck we will be back.

I have rented trucks few times before from this place and didnt have any issues. But today when i returned the truck, i got to meet the lady who seems to be kind of manager, shes rude. when i asked a question about the bill they charged to an associate in the store, this lady interrupted us, and gave me a rude answer. I will never want to rent truck from this store anymore.

(Monday, 12/28/2020) Dont try to get propane in your motorhome there! Poor access and rude manager. You cant get into the drive far enough if your propane tank access is on the passenger side and you have to come in from the out driveway if propane access on the drivers side as is mine. I drove in the out driveway (as I had done on three previous occasions in the past). Manager stood in the way so I couldnt go under the overhang and said youre not driving under my overhang. I asked why and she said because I said so. She told me to back out onto S. Plaza Trail and come in the other way then turn around - with a 34 foot motorhome! I saw that I could go around the back which I did and she sent a man out to give me propane who (conveniently) told me the system was down. She could have directed me around the building, or offered to assist me backing up or even told me the system was not working. Stay away - I will! Poor service, bad attitude of manager.

Horrible. Waited in the store for 20 minutes. Nobody was behind the counter, or came to help me. Finally, someone came in, and helped everyone else first. She is very rude and doesn’t seem to know what she’s doing. Still waiting for assistance. (Nella is the employee). Needs to work on customer service for sure.

Like U-Haul as a company, systems are great and pricing is reasonable. Disappointed at the mobile pick up and drop off didn’t work which made my after hours trip pointless. Staff didn’t seem concerned or helpful in trying to fix mobile issues. Also no masks during interactions with customers

Wish the women inside would answer the store phone instead of playing on theirs like they were both times I went in today! Very unprofessional & terrible customer service. Computer went down, left & had to come back. Had to get a kid out of the car way too many times for propane fill. The Gentleman was the only one doing any work. He was nice.

This has to be the best U-Haul rental. Me and my husband has never rented a U-Haul before but they helped us so much. We made some mistakes but they didn’t mind. Instead they educated us for next time. I appreciate everything they specially right before the holiday. I highly recommend this place and will definitely continue to rent from them.

Ripped off, they charged me a 2 day rental and claim I returned the truck 20 min late but would not allow me to keep the truck another day!How do you charge and extra day and refuse to let me have the truck for the extra day you charged!! Be wary !!!

We booked a trailer over two weeks ago for four days to take my little guy to a farm in PA to ride his 4 wheeler. His only request for his 10th birthday (already limited due to Covid restrictions). We booked a house and invited several close family members to join him, trying to make it special for his double digit birthday. We spent the last two weeks coordinating things with the family, buying gifts, Buying outdoor fun events, packing coolers, etc to spend a long weekend in PA. We spent many hours every Evening this week to get everything packed and by the door To pack up trailer today and get on the Road by 3:00 . I own a medical practice that I had to close down early today to make sure we would get on the road by 3pm. My husband is retired military working contract work whom arranged to get off early Today to get on the road by 3:00. We were very well prepared to make this the best birthday event for our little guy. When we went to pick the trailer (The last thing we thought would be an issue since we planned so far ahead of time) they told Us that we could only have the trailer for 24 hours. Obviously not what we booked 2 weeks ago and wouldNot work for our long awaited and well planned out trip. As we explained our situation they tried to tell us that they will try to do a “one way rental” and call us back in an hour oc where to pick it up. Of course at this point, already a huge inconvenience to everything we had taken the last two weeks to plan for but what else were we to do but wait for the phone call. Within the hour we receive a text message that states that they do not have a trailer for us anywhere in the area. I again spent over an hour speaking with the managers explaining our situation and everything we have done to prepare for this trip and my son’s birthday and they did nothing to accommodate us with our trailer needs. The district manager even went as far as to explain to us we did not know the definition of a reservation and that the definition of a reservation did not include actually reserving a piece of equipment. She then went on to explain to us the definition of a reservation meant that you were simply requesting a piece of equipment for that day but it was not guaranteed! Despite our two weeks of planning and large amount of money that went into this weekend and most importantly my sons 10th birthday. She cannot explain to us why there were other trailers on the lot that were reserved for people to pick up tomorrow yet that we could not take one of those trailers or fulfill our reservation. Long story short , it’s 8:15 , 5 hours later , all of our efforts of trying to makeSomething work we’re wasted and I had to be the barrier Of bad news to my baby on his 10th birthday. Please do not rent from these people! They do not care about you or your needs!

They denied to refill my 5lbs propane tank due to my tank was stamp on 2014. They said the tank is just good for 5years; however, it should be expired in 12 years. This employee need re-trained or training about customer service. Also, he acts like he didnt care about this customer service. Is is wast of money to hire him.

Customer service 0 out of 10. I feel like girls who work there dont want to work. When I came to get propane, they say nobody is here to pump propane. It happened 6 times. In my opinion the staff and managers dont care about doing their jobs. Also, if they are not pumping propane why are they not taking the propane sign off? At less they should take the sign off so I wont stope their and waste my time.

I am so thankful for the woman that was this location today! I had put in a reservation at the Budget location a few weeks ago but showed up today to NO TRUCK! I walked down to the UHAUL. The lady informed me that she didn’t have any available but would check the surrounding areas. She said they’d call within an hour to give me a status. As I was there, I shared my Budget story with her and she begin instant messaging with headquarters. By the time I’d called my LYFT, she’d found a truck in Norfolk. Thank you UHAUL and to the lady at this location!

The staff was amazing, i was in and out within minutes. the process of getting my truck was painless and every question i had was answered happily. the manager brightened my day and has good people working in the store. marcus was more than happy to check my truck in and he was very polite. i will be using this location again and i recommend it to everyone, hands down the best.

Your complete disregard for basic customer service and consideration lost at least 2 customer today. If you are going to lack parking options for customers who would be purchasing items, some very awkward to carry, then do not have your employees tell customers that she about to move a vehicle to that those customers need to move. When waiting 5 mins, you would have had customer that were happy and still be able to move that vehicle.Be aware of the bad location you happen to have and dont ask customers to do unsafe turns just to go to far back of your lot because your employees could not wait 5 minutes.I left even though I needed to buy a ton of moving supplies. The person who was chased out of the spot next to me left right behind me. So I will not coming back, from the level of frustration on my fellow customer reaction, I doubt she will be back either.

Came in on Sunday morning to do a truck rental it was busy. The clerk explained he would be with us in a second which was no problem. We didnt have a reservation so we didnt mind the wait. While waiting for the clerk another clerk had come in to work she ended being the one to wait on us. I wanted a 19.99 truck only needed it for a couple of hours to move a few things. Just to say from start of conversation with clerk Chantal it was rudeness 1st words out of her mouth were do you have reservation and what do you need. Their was no hi hello or any pleasantness in her voice. If I hadnt needed to rent the truck I would have left or at least have waited for other clerk to assist me.. I have been to this location plenty of times and never experienced this type of service before.. someone needs to give Chantal a lesson in customer service and manners along with teamwork.

Scheduled a hitch install. Receive a call the day before asking me if Im bringing my car in at 12. I tell them its for tomorrow and its at 1pm ( I have a copy of the invoice stating as much) Get told no drop off is 11 and and they are doing me a favor letting me drop off at 12. Get told they wont honor the scheduled time so a blown day off unpaid and no hitch. This business does not hold the customer first.

Would be 5 stars if they listened to their customers. Booked the rental with a credit card and the person who was actually paying for the rental provided their card in person . Some how my card was still charged even after I dropped off the truck and the person confirmed the card they had on file was correct. Sucks when you now have over drafted because of their mistake.

Pulled up to propane filling station girl sitting outside seen me take out propane tank sit it on the stand continued smoking her cigarette then went inside I waited a couple more minutes to see if she was coming back out with tools needed, finally had to go inside and when I said I needed propane she acted surprised and told me someone would be out in a minute 5min later a guy came out hooked up my tank started filling it never asking me if I wanted a complete fill up or just a couple of gallons. No pay at the pump so back to the store.where had to wait again till the girl looked up from here computer and offered to check me out. 3 workers in the store 2 customers should of been in and out.

So I didn’t make a reservation until the morning of and the system being slow, when I arrived, there was no car dolly available. 1 star for Uhaul customer service, however Shawntel (sp?) allowed me to rent a car trailer even though it was reserved at noon. I was able to move my vehicle and return it on time. So they went above and beyond to accommodate me in spite of the corporate system being unpredictable. I recommend the location, and would also recommend calling to confirm your online or phone reservation!Thank you Shawntel!

Great friendly service.I came in to get a hitch installed on one of my vehicles and they move me right to the front of the line because they had the extra time and space to do it. They gave me a really great quote on the hitch installation with the wiring. I couldnt be happier.

On 8/5/2017 and. 2:50pm i walked into this location to just simply buy boxes as Im currently getting ready to move. The guy behind the counter was VERY PLEASANT, asked us how we were doing and if we needed help. While he was assisting another customer he needed help. While asking in the walkie for help the lady who I believe was in charge was INCREDIBLE RUDE. She made a comment if you cant work inside and cant work outside what are you good for? Even when she came inside the store she was VERY RUDE. This is not the kind of manager I would ever expect to see. Their are many ways to go about a sisutation and that wasnt one of the ways. I literally had to walk out and as a company you lost a good customer.

Just got off the phone with U-Haul in Virginia Beach. They claim to price match any other truck rental however they do not price match discounts which puts Penske at a $200 Lower price on a 26 foot truck. Penske also threw in two dozen blankets and handtruck’s at no charge. Bottom line they advertise price matching but they not do it.

WARNING WARNING WARNINGDo NOT go to this U Haul location. It is my opinion that they prey on unsuspecting customers that do not sign up for their insurance protection plan. This happened to me. “GM”, Chauntel, is unprofessional and should not be in a position of leadership.I rented a truck from this location and did not purchase the extra insurance. I figured I would roll the dice on not getting coverage because I was just going to drive the truck to my house and park it for 5 days while I stored furniture in it to re-do my hardwood floors. So, I rented the truck, drove it 1.5 miles to my house and it sat there for 5 days. No one touched the truck other than to move things in the back. When I was done, I drove it 1.5 miles back to the facility while not getting gas because the needle didnt even move and returned it to the location. Untouched. Same exact condition as I rented it.When I got there, Chauntel came out and walked around the truck and asked how i put a big 3 foot long scrape down the side of the truck. I laughed and thought she was joking. The scrape had clearly been there because there was RUST ALL OVER THE SCRAPE. she insisted it was “fresh”. She spoke to me in a very deragagory and accusatory tone and said that because I didnt have insurance I would have to pay for the damages. A shouting match ensued and i was told I would get a bill and kicked off the premises.A month later I get a letter and bill from their insurance company, RepWest, for $1400. I explained the situation to them and they were clearly protecting their client and threatened me with a law suit. I finally spoke to someone there that was willing to help. She indicated that she had contacted the UHAul regional office and requested the video footage (all different angles) from that day and the day before in september but was still waiting on a response. I personally went to the store to request the video and was told I would have to go through their regional office...which I did and never heard back.I got ZERO COMMUNICATION from UHAUL or RepWest after that. No letters or phone calls, period. Figured it was thrown out.Fast forward 5 months - I get a call from a local law firm requesting that i pay them $1400. That UHAUL/REPWEST has exhausted all resources in trying to collect the money. I only received one notification..which I addressed at the time! I have called the regional office again with no return phone call from the manager.FACTS - I did not do damage to this truckIt is MY BELIEF that this UHAUL targets customers that did not purchase the protection plan and sticks them with damages to their old nasty trucks. They in turn strong-arm you into paying the charges because they have all of the leverage and you have no proof because they wont cooperate and just get you the video footage to easily proove your innocence.IF this location is a last resort and you must rent from them:1. Make sure to take pictures before you drive off their lot...of the whole truck - roof and undercarriage included. They DO NOT have a walk around policy in place to view the vehicle. They throw you the keys and send you out the door. They are extremely dishonest and stick you with the bill.2. Buy their nsurance plan - will save you years off your life3. Request a walk through - document every scratch and ding. These trucks are aupposed to have stickers on all scratches and impurities. There wasnt a sticker on the scratch. Where did it go?4.Ask for someone other than Chauntel. Thank me later.I have ponied up and gotten an attorney and am prepared to get a court order to obtain video footage from this uhaul. I am going to counter sue for court costs, attorney fees, mental anguish and for all my time that i have wasted dealing with this issue. And my time isnt cheap.Signed - Honest, hard working american that would rather put $1400 into my kids college fund than give it to this place.

I rented a 26 Long U-Haul for one day, I put around 75 Miles on the truck in a 10 hour time span, mostly interstate driving. The Truck had 149,000 miles on it, The radio did not work, but was turned all the way up, so the first big bump I hit, I thought the world was coming down when the radio would static The truck made an unbearable squealing, the transmission sounded like it was going to go soon, along with the U-joints. The Glove box was broke, At a stop for any amount of time, you could smell exhaust.I stopped to fill the truck up with gas, I put the truck in park, and pull the parking break. I notice the (P) and Service Parking Break light was on. (Thank god) So I let my foot off the brake (the regular brake), and the truck starts rolling! Its a good thing I noticed the warning lights (which I normally wouldnt) or somebody could have BEEN KILLED!Needless to say, I could not get gas, without the truck rolling down the hill.So I called the store (S Plaza Trail Location) not in a professional way, but still not rude, The guy told me, Well, theres nothing I can do about it, Called Roadside AssistanceI called road side assistance, (four times before their system didn’t hang up on me), and they go thru there protocols, and dispatch me a maintenance truck. The maintenance guy’s passenger drove my truck back to the location, and Left me stranded there, (not the Maintenance guys fault) because I had my car keys, and my car was at my house (My friend was going to follow me back to return the truck, and he doesn’t have a vehicle). So I stood outside in the rain, waiting on a cab.I wake up, I did not receive a phone call from the service counter where I rented the truck, but I did receive the receipt where they charged me for the gas WHEN THEY KNEW THE TRUCK WAS BROKE DOWN. This ultimately ended up overdrawing my account. (I could afford the gas; I couldn’t afford their fees)I called the location and asked to speak with the manager I was told that the manager was out of town for 6 weeks. I then asked to speak with the 2nd in charge. He was “unavailable” I told the serviceman that answered what had happened, and wanted to speak with the highest person there right away. I was told he would give me a call back (this was at 8am, it is now 1027PM with no call back)

Just got off the phone with Rebecca, I ordered a hitch for my truck, used c/c for the order, good price labor only 32.00 for the install. will arrive in a few days, no problems with the service, most outstanding!, Ive used this location several times over the many years and they have always provided a great service, Dont read too much into the idiots that piss and moan about radios and rudeness, these people would complain about themselves if they could hear themselves talk.

Pros: they had the truck I ordered and the supplies I neededCons: they did not clean the interior of the truck to their corporate standard so I was charged a $25 cleaning fee when I dropped it off. After a customer service call, the fee was refunded, but it was still unnecessary stress added to my move.

They told me my Propane Cylinder had mfgr date of 2007 and gov DOT recently in Jan 2017 changed the 12yrs expiration rule to 10yrs. They said I had to buy a new Propane Cylinder tank, which I did. After researching on the Internet, I found that in April 2017 the DOT ruling was challenged and PHMSA stayed the 10-year enforcement and will issue a new rulemaking after accepting NPGA’s petition to change the language of the regulation. Thus U-Haul had mislead me to buy a new Propane Cylinder using a DOT ruling that had not be finalized yet on todays date of Jun 2017.

June 26, 2015.. Moving is a stessful time. And Ive been dealing with uhaul for years to move my stuff. I called the Virginia Beach loaction to set up for me to get a truck tomorrow. The truck I need is at another location they want me to pick up the truck up in Norfolk. Mind you I live 5mins from the Va Bch location. Called and talked to the Regional Manager Mitzi of the Virginia Beach location and see if they can have one of their people pick the truck up and bring it to their location. Since I made my reservation with the Va Bch location. The regional manager told me Its not her fault I reseved the truck at last min.And they dont have the man power to go get the truck to the location. Thats not what you want to hear from Regional manager. Very poor customers service!!!!
