I love this place! Its so cute the owner is friendly and welcoming. The food is fresh and delicious. The coffee and espresso are absolutely amazing! I take my friends, family, co workers here and highly recommend going here. They also sell authentic Italian products and have authentic Italian deserts. The tiramasu is the best Ive ever had! Marchese is truly a local treasure and you should definitely check it out!

Did a Google map search looking for a new place to try. This place is amazing! It was the owner’s birthday today and people were coming in to wish her a happy birthday. She really has created a small community amongst other Italians because out of 15 people in there, I was the only one not speaking Italian. I felt like I was back in Italy. Amazing food, beyond amazing customer service. Very clean and friendly. Excited to go back soon.

Fresh, delicious and quick. I have both dined in and I’ve placed a pick up order - both times were fantastic experiences and worth every penny spent. Great place with very warm and helpful employees. Felt welcomed right at the door. I searched a bunch of places for Guanciale and couldnt find it anywhere as the butcher in Ghent had reserved all of it for another customer already. A family member had a serious surgery and I wanted to make sure they had no worries including cooking. I called Marchese Italian Market and Cafe and spoke to a lovely woman. Sadly, I did not get her name. However, she was friendly, matter of fact and put my order together. I asked that the order be delivered at dinner and not only did she deliver the meals but texted me only the way so that I knew it made it there.BTW this was a cold call, I had never done business with them before.As a result of this, I would recommend them highly. IF i should need to send food to a client or family I will come right back to Marchese Italian Market.Most important, is that the food was phenomenal.James South

Found on map and went for lunch today with my husband. Welcomed by owner as soon as we entered and we sat in amazement as she took our order and then went to cook it! I was a bit nervous thinking there was no way she could do it all, but she did with lovely grace and skill. Food was amazing and fresh and we felt like guests in her kitchen. I almost selfishly dont want it to sound so good so we can have it to ourselves, but life is short and we are kind. See you there!

Excellent! I entered the store and was greeted with a smile from the woman behind the counter. Two senior women were sitting and talking in Italian. They acknowledged me with a smile.The store had plenty of seats and an enclosed patio with 4 tables out back.There is a wide selection of meats and confectionery delights. I enjoyed the baba and canoli especially. The espresso is also very good. I even received a free sample of the iced coffee. It is like ice cream for creaminess and sweet taste.The website brought me here. The customer service and food will bring me back 😋

One of the Best and Most authentic Italian markets.Anamaria- the proprietres, is wonderful, very knowledgeable and a perfect hostess. She makes the deserts she sells and can always recommend a way of preparing your pasta at home. I buy from her the cavatelli, the Piccolo Romano and the pancetta for my meals. When I eat there I usually get Paninni Parma or the house special. The paninni are served with ruffled chips and if you get the pasta you get a wonderful house salad with the delicious balsamic vinaigrette. I quite like the house wines and I am yet to have a glass of something bad while enjoying a nice lunch there.The cheese and the meats for the panini are Italian brands- which if you like can purchase some to take home.For desert I always order a capuccino- one of the best in the area with lemon mascarpone cake or canoli. Anamaria makes her creme for the deserts and it is very light, has a wonderful taste without a hint of butter or too much sugar, yet creamy.You can pick the size of the canoli- small and large, and the attendant behind the counter would fill them with the creme and dip them in chocolate chips.For wine- I quite like the La Cattura- the red Toscana wine with nice crisp taste with hint of berries.If you like white wine- they have pretty good Castellani Reserva- a Chianti which is chilled to perfection and pairs well with the cavatelli or any other pasta dish.This place is small but quite good and the coffee and the deserts are just what you might need as a pick me up. Highly recommend it.

Ana Maria is the best. Closest experience to being in a corner bistro in Naples you will find in Hampton Roads. Monthly wine tastings are awesome, and if you’re putting together a charcuterie board this is the only place to shop. She has everything you need.

My wife and I are originally from New York and we grew up enjoying delicious Italian food from authentic delis and restaurants in and around Arthur Avenue. We started off with the rice balls and both had the Caprese Panini. Hands down, the best rice balls I have ever tasted. The Caprese Panini was quite delicious too. Best meal we have had in some time. We also got the tri-color cookies and sfogliatella to go. Highly recommend for anyone looking for authentic cuisine and ingredients from the old country. The owner, Annamaria, is such a sweet lady. Very attentive and talked to us a bit as we were seated.

The best cup of coffee I have had at any restaurant or cafe ever. Hands down. The canolli cookie was a bit thick but otherwise their desserts were fantastic. I will definitely go again to try their other foods and for more coffee!

Marchese Italian Market has the best Authentic Italian food. Served by real Italians with a warm and inviting atmosphere. I cant get enough of the Paninis or the fresh made soups. A necessary step every time I drive up the coast. Super convenient location right before the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, super friendly, quick, affordable, and the BEST italian ingredients and goodies. Everything on the menu has been amazing, and I wish we lived closer so I could pick up the cold cuts too! Cant say enough good things about Marchese.

Molto bene! The 4 cheese ravioli is to die for. It’s not your ordinary ravioli (it’s homemade) You feel the love in the food that’s for sure. New favorite spot!I went with a friend last week after Facebook highlighted some amazing looking cupcakes. We both had the rotini and meatballs. The food was fantastic! I don’t tend to have strong feelings about pasta sauce, but this was divine. It was served with a greens salad and a side of bread. Lovely plating. I also ordered the bread pudding - it was served hot with what I think was pistachio gelato. I never would’ve ordered pistachio on my own but I’m now a fan.The café is cozy, Annamaria is very kind, personable and proud of her business (as she should be), and the few customers that came in while we were there appear to be regulars. Everyone was very friendly, just happy to be there - it’s like a little world of its own. Highly recommend!

We decided to stop in and check it out one day. So glad we did. Pleasantly surprised by the little shops quality and authenticity. The food was delicious and the service was incredible. Made me feel like I was back in Europe.

Took my Italian in-laws here when they came to town, and they loved it! They have different specials depending on the days, so come often, and be sure to get an espresso after your meal. Menu does not overwhelm. And the food, INCREDIBLE. Simple fresh ingredients paired in a way I never expected and totally delicious. Example, Granola Salad: Spinach, strawberries, shaved Parmesan cheese and granola drizzled with balsamic vinegar. Amazing!I have brought 2 friends here and both loved it. My one friend is from Germany. When she heard the owner engaging customers in her native Italian, my friend said Ahh, I feel like I am in Europe again!Nice selection of wine and little grocery area in the back. Neat little Italian cafe tucked into a little shopping center on Pleasure House. The owner is friendly and all over the place, greeting, cooking, and serving. They have a nice selection of salads, panini sandwiches, and pastas. I had the Rome panini, which was delicious. It featured some tender Italian porchetta roast slices, tomatoes, spinich on ciabatta bread, dressed with balsamic vinegar.

Its important that Hampton roads supports businesses like Marchese market. In a time where every corner has a WaWa, and people go to Wal-Mart to buy groceries, people must appreciate special place just like Marchese market. When I came here with my two kids, i felt like we were having lunch in the owners home. You can tell She really built this market with love and passion. Places like this add flavor to our city.

Marchese is a special place here in VA for me. Growing up in an all Italian neighborhood called Bensonhurst in Brooklyn.. it had been a struggle to find Italian imports where back home I only had to leave the corner of my house. Marchese brings backs memories for me on products my nonna used to have in the house daily. Also.. the food is fantastic. If I dont want to make arrancini from scratch... My family and I will come here.

I must admit this review is BADLY influenced by the fact that I am Italian myself, living in Italy. After five days driving alone along the ocean shore, on my way to Miami from NYC, all the time under the threat of hurricane Florence, I really felt like I should die without a good espresso. So I googled around me and I was lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time. I felt home as soon as I got in, it looks like the places I was used to when I was young, so common all over Italy, specially along minor roads, still existing today. A mix of a cafe (of the kind called Bar in Italy, nothing to do with the Anglo Saxon bar concept) and a salumeria (deli shop) where they make panini for you and stuff them with any item they sell there. So not only I had my excellent espresso but I was delighted by the Italian lady who owns the place (I apologize with her for having lost in my mind any sign of her name) with a long and very interesting conversation about her idea behind her lovely spot and the way she runs it.Warmly recommended!
