This was such a cool place to get breakfast at! There was live music, service was really good and friendly, food came out fast, and just the overall environment was very comfortable and homely.

Totally worth the drive from the south end of Virginia Beach. Great coffee, great vibe and great food. I love the fact that not only is it locally owned, by also female owned. Also love the fact that they use a local roaster for their coffee.

Great, cozy atmosphere and location, solid coffee, and delicious bites. I am definitely planning on coming back for the whiskey selection and brunch menu items.

The service was fast and friendly and the food was delicious! We got the bagel sandwich and the pancakes and everything else that came out of the kitchen looked amazing as well! It is weird that prices aren’t posted anywhere and you don’t see them on the receipt either. I didn’t like not knowing how much items were that I ordered.

Good food and drinks but owner is kind of a terrible person, friendly towards customers and what not. Up to you if you care what kind of person the owner is in their private time.

This place is my favorite. Coffee is good and the girls that work there are so nice. The poke bowl has the most amazing flavor and I get it all the time, but the tuna is always cut with the grain instead of against it making it hard to eat without tearing apart first. The smoothie bowls are also amazing and so are the breakfast sandwiches! Also like that theyre not being weird about masks since the restrictions have lifted like some places still are. Its hard to eat or drink with a mask!

Great place, but they should stop turning the AC down to 50 degrees. Its always freezing cold in there. Doesnt make it very welcoming.

Food was pretty good but they over cooked my eggs like most places do. But the smoothies and coffee are yummy. The chairs are metal that wrap around the hips. Not comfortable for people with wider hips. The atmosphere was laid back and fun.

American brew has food for the whole family. My 6 year old is so picky, that she suprisingly ate her food and some of her dads too. The cafe smell is so delicious. Very clean and extremely friendly.

This place is an EXCEPTIONAL experience! It is a hobby of mine to explore new coffee shops. I have many favorites, but this definitely just set the bar a little higher! The entire vibe of the place is awesome! The young lady who helped me, I wish I got her name, long, dark hair, very sweet and outstanding customer service! She immediately welcomed me and asked if I had ever been before, she then walked me through the menu setup and offerings, and I asked for some recommendations of her favorites. I chose a Cinnamon & Honey Latte and breakfast burrito and thoroughly enjoyed both! I would dare say it was The Best Latte Ive ever had. I was literally sad when my cup was empty, lol. Go check out this gem, you will want to return again and again! Thank you for such a wonderful experience on my first visit to Virginia Beach!

Coffee was good and the employee was very nice and efficient. There was only one person working in the front so it took about 20 min to get my coffee, then when I did it was wrong and was never given a receipt to know if she took it wrong or just got confused with the amount of work. I didnt say anything because I was already late because of how long it took, at least what I got did taste alright.

Dont miss this amazing hybrid of a coffee shop, cafe and whiskey bar. The whole family stopped several times for late breakfasts. Service, cocktails and food were all excellent. Lucky enough for live music on a Saturday morning.

Excellent breakfast menu, a lovely selection of whiskeys, coffee, muffins, tea, and outstanding service. Theres seating outdoors, parking is limited so be careful parking in the numbered spots unless you pay at the park and pay station.

This is now my #1 go to in VA Beach. The staff was friendly and funny, the latte was delicious, and it was the best avocado toast I have ever had. The only downfall is that it is too far away from my house. You wont be disappointed.

Coffee and whiskey. Whats not to like!?! I was here on a Friday morning for a meeting. So no whiskey this time. I had a latte, that was crafted with care. It looked like a pineapple design in the foam. Pretty neat. The barista, was so friendly. She introduced herself to me and checked on us several times. I ended up getting a coffee once my latte was done and it was just as good. Actually have another meeting there tomorrow so lets see what they do with the foam art. I have heard that the food is very good but havent eaten there yet. Going to try it for brunch one of these Sunday mornings.

Very dissatisfied with my visit. I walked in with hopes of sitting at the bar. The governor has released the restrictions yet they refused to open the bar. Who wants a whiskey shot at a table? Very unhappy and will never go back

Happened to stop here just to get coffee while leaving Virginia beach. So glad I did. Its very nice inside and they have someone performing live. The guy playing the guitar and singing was good too. We got breakfast (avocado toasts) you get two in a order and its a lot, but its very tasty. Tried the white espresso for the first time and it was unique (nutty tasting, but doesnt taste like espresso) . Probably should put some regular espresso or coffee in if thats what you want. Overall, it was a really neat place.

They serve white coffee which is more a nuttier and earthy flavor is roasted for a much shorter time then black coffee and has way more caffeine, their whiskey selection is exceptional especially for a coffee/whiskey cafe and the food was really good as well.

Very rude experience with the owner and will be taking my business to Cova. My family and I sat at a table and paid for breakfast and coffee. After it was finished they left while I remained there to study for 30-45 minutes. Having all my study materials out-laptop, text books, note cards and utilizing the table space, the owner asked me to move as that particular table is only for families. Meanwhile, there were plenty of open seats inside and outside and no sign indicating that a solo person could not sit there. Not exactly the friendliest cafe to paying customers.

Had the best dinner here!!! We loved the drinks and sliders with a couple of delicious Flatbreads! Eliza was so nice and recommended the best cocktails! Definitely coming back again.

A simply amazing coffee shop from the atmosphere to the drinks

American Brew is a small, friendly place located not too far off Shore Drive. The service was great and the staff was super friendly; I believe I spoke to the owner of the establishment, and they seemed very excited about their business. The live music and the friendly customers certainly play a large part in making the atmosphere so welcoming. Its clear that a lot of attention has been placed on the customer experience.

The atmosphere is great the people are friendly selections are awesome! there was a beautiful red haired woman that helped me and talked me into a americano it was amazing the coffee is great flavor rich and bold the burbon coffee is awesome my favorite! their french toast coffee was perfect but only seasonal im now trying pecan whiskey im sure it will be just as delicious. You wont be disappointed!

Fabulous coffee and adorable branded swag. They are doing their best to offer outdoor seating with COVID restrictions, even though I will say there is currently little shade for tables. Incredibly friendly staff. Bought some bourbon coffee beans and they smell AMAZING :)

Very pleasant, comfortable environment.A western meets beach vibe complete with Edison bulbs.I had the Veteran arguably the best BLT ever and part of the proceeds from it go to a veteran charity (Very awesome) and my wife had the chicken melt. It was delicious as well. We finished with a London Fog and a scrumptious brownie to go. Polite and warm staff made the experience all the more desirable. This will be our go to when we have guest visit.

The staff could use an attitude adjustment but the avocado toast and coffee were incredible. My best friend and I had regular brewed coffee with churro, cinnamon, and honey flavoring. My husband had a regular coffee. We had a side of bacon and a brewrrito. My daughter had a grape goodness juice and the ohel yeah cherry oat bar. We watched an amazing performance by Harrison Bounds. I also had a single espresso with steamed breve. It was not as good as a regular coffee which they actually make by doing a pour over into a airpot.

Great atmosphere. Great food. Great coffee. Friendly staff. Great live music. Definitely will be back!

First impression: very good. Fun and eclectic seating area with plenty of room for small to mid sized groups of people. Grab a cozy chair to sit and who your libation and read a book, or peruse your social media accounts. Long wood table makes room for larger groups to gather, socialize, play games etc..

Sunday morning live music sets up this cafe for a great atmosphere. Enjoyed some tasty iced coffee and a morning hash bowl. I have to say this was delicious and very filling. Only thing I would change is using a little less thyme as it was overpowering some bites. Overall, great little cafe on Shore Drive.

Loved this place! When I went in the kitchen was closed, but I just wanted a drink anyway. I got a Muscle Joe smoothie, and it was AMAZING. I definitely drank it way too fast. The bartender, Beth was really nice and took a lot of time to talk to me! I will definitely go back when I’m in the area again!

Talk about flavorful coffe...American Brew provides an eclectic atmosphere with strong fresh brew. They also have some delicious cocktail options for a little day drinking if thats what you are up for. And the green velour couch!

Great food, good coffee, and an even better atmosphere.

I ordered breakfast here this morning and got a really delicious brewrrito. However, I was disappointed after getting home and realizing it was so expensive. I paid over $13 for a $9 burrito. There was a 16% tip already added that I was not made aware of and the receipt still had the lines to add a tip amount; I tipped 20% when I purchased it. I called in the order and paid by credit card at the window. I later read a couple other reviews stating that their tips were already added as well. I just wanted to make people aware because it is not obvious that a tip is already added.

High quality ingredients and great food/drinks.

This place is great, Ive been there twice now and plan on going back. They have a great coffee selection although I usually go for the whiskey drinks after all thats what theyre all about there. They have 3 beers on tap for those not looking for whiskey or caffeine. Its normal to see couples on dates and students studying so the atmosphere is really relaxed. The bar tender whose name starts with a W...(I think) He has great conversation and is very well traveled so you dont feel lonely when you go there by yourself. They are open to reservations including the whole place for events.

On Sunday morning they have some live music. The staff were super sweet and fast at getting the coffee orders made.

Went to this coffee shop twice. Both times the food has come out excellent and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. It seemed that the staff cared about their job, the quality of the food put out, and how the customers were treated. This is a very relaxing, laid back coffee shop. I will probably return, no issues observed at this time.

Stopped in this morning as my last out to eat before I go overseas for a couple years. The Oklahoma is my favorite sandwich with an iced Americano, they always have accommodated how Id like my food preppared (untoasted no butter). 10 out of 10 would recommend to anyone.

Coffee is coffee pretty much anywhere you go but the food here is great!!! The breakfast burrito was stuffed with fresh, well seasoned ingredients. And the Lessner breakfast sandwich amazing!!! We will definitely be back.

Came here for breakfast on Saturday and was very impressed. The food was hearty and delicious, the portions were large and the coffee was exceptional. I got the Lesner, add bacon. My husband got the Brewrrito. As we were leaving there was a band setting up. We are definitely going to come back.

Love this joint. The young lady behind the counter is too cool. She always has a pleasant attitude and is very tentative to her customers. The cappuccinos are spot on and so is the whiskey. They now also have beer choices along with food. Just a great place to see a great smile and kickback with your friends.

Wonderful coffee shop with a great sense of community. They serve Three Ships Coffee (the best coffee in the area) and a variety of delicious food items. They also have an extensive stock of whiskies at reasonable prices.

So many good things to say about this place. The atmosphere is among my favorite of all the coffee shops Ive been to. Relaxing setting, great music selection, nice variety of seating options (couch, squishy chairs, tables, and bar-seating). The service is always friendly and quick. The food is amazing. I have worked in several coffee shops and frequent local coffee shops, and among those Ive been to, American Brew has perhaps the best espresso Ive had. This is the perfect place to get some work done, meet up with some friends, or just relax and enjoy some quality coffee and food. No complaints (:

Awesome local coffee and whiskey bar! They have delicious coffee beverages that can be ordered with or without a shot of whiskey. They also have a menu of signature cocktails in addition to baked goods and food items from their full kitchen. (The American Lemonade is my favorite!) American Brew also hosts local musical talent regularly.
