My 02 7.3 Excursion toasted her transmission at 294k Miles. To be perfectly honest I was looking to just replace the whole unit but when I came across this shop I was told that they could rebuild it in a reasonable time frame with a better price than replacing it.Everything from the communication to the service and even the great knowledge they had to share, these guys are IT!.Had my transmission overhauled with new converter and all my driveline was checked and balanced and whatever needed to be replaced was done right. From here on out they will be the only ones servicing my Excursion, you cannot beat their prices and their amazing customer service.

Hands down the best service Ive ever received! They rebuilt/upgraded my transmission on my lifted Cummins with 40 tires. They also gave expert advice on several other upgrades I plan having done. Amazing family owned business with great staff and great prices! Rory & Son will be my first and only choice for all future upgrades. See yall soon for the gear ratio upgrade! 🤪

Took my 69 RS/SS matching numbers 396 camaro to them to fix a botched job done by another rod shop. They made me feel right at home and showed me my baby would be safe. They fixed everything plus more that was wrong. Went above and beyond what I expected and cost me a third of what I paid the other guy. Gonna bring my 71 C20 pick up to them next.

Nice guys to talk to, but their knowledge base is lacking and their workmanship could be much better. My list why is below.1. My new Tremec transmission wasnt fit correctly. They didnt measure properly according to the engineer at the company I purchased the transmission from. He said this was unusual. As a result, the clutch was smoking/burning up under normal use. Fortunately, because of the smell, it was caught in time. A spacer was sent from the company and they made the repair at no charge. They did so because it was their fault despite not admitting such. At least they didnt charge me.2. I asked about a clutch height adjustment. They said it wasnt possible. I did 5 minutes of research and found a kit online for 140 bucks and had someone else install it. Now, the clutch engages halfway through travel as opposed to engaging at the very top. This makes for a much better driving experience.3. I asked for a polished aluminum reservoir for the hydraulic clutch versus the existing plastic one. They said that they dont exist. Well, 5 minutes online and I found several. I bought one and had someone else install it. That was a waste of my money as they could have installed it versus installing the plastic one. I had to pay someone to install something they could have as part of the install process.4. No attention to detail. I have an old car with all new parts. They installed the new shifter boot and new ring with old screws and bolts. And they didnt even match. New screws and bolts are pennies. Why install old hardware on a new shifter? One bolt didnt even fit and one hole had no fastener at all. No attention to detail and quality. Lack of pride in their work in my opinion.5. They installed the new transmission and didnt calibrate the speedometer. I can overlook that. Things happen. So, I brought it back to have them do so. Guess what? Speedometer is still 10 mph off at highway speeds.Since I cant reply to the owners response, I will reply here. Thanks for replying. It was a pleasant experience. I just wasnt fully satisfied.1. I never said that you were at fault concerning the pedal height. I asked if you if it was possible to adjust the pedal height. You said no. Maybe I am wrong for thinking that you could have said yes, it was possible and that you could do so. Why would a company turn away possible business? Maybe it is just me.2. And yes, your son stated that they did not make a polished aluminum hydraulic assist reservoir. I specifically asked that as I was looking at the plastic one while the car was in the bay. It is an eye sore and didnt fit the look of the other polished pieces. I am certain I asked this and what his response was. If he had said yes, they make them, I would have bought one. He never mentioned anything about suppliers. That makes no sense.3. Thank you for admitting the hardware oversight.4. Yes, I realize that you are not responsible for speedo calibration. However, you said you could do it. You are incorrect about my gauges. Please know that my gauges are not digital. They are analog. There is a conversion box and your son said that he could calibrate my analog gauge. If he could not do so, it would have been fine to admit such. It would have saved me a trip to your shop if he had mentioned that.5. I am confused about your brake comment. I never had a brake appointment. You are misremebering a few things. I have no need for brake work as my 4 wheel Wilwood setup is brand new, like much of my car.Again, not a horrible experience. Pleasant and nice people who likely do good work. I just wasnt completely satisfied with the work on my high end classic car that requires attention to detail and custom work. Wish you and your business all the best.

These guys are the best. I stopped using garages years ago because I always got ripped off. Someone recommended them to me for transmission repairs and I am glad they did. They were able to get my remanufactured transmission put in, in between their already busy schedule. Everything was ran great. Six months later I had to have it serviced because an internal nut was not tighten properly from the company I bought it from. But within two days these guys worked with me and the warranty folks to get the job done. I would not recommend any shop, but them to work on anyones vehicle.

Rory and Son did fantastic work on what turned out to be a pretty big job for my foxbody mustang. They completed a half-finished transmission swap, fixed/replaced lots of little of odds and ends, and ended up rebuilding a very damaged T56 for me.Their prices were extremely fair, their communication was clear and great, and they didn’t get annoyed with all of my questions and phone calls.I cannot recommend them enough and can see why they have a shop full of interesting builds.

Last winter I was calling shops in my area for quotes to install catalytic converters on my 15 year old Chrysler. Most companies were not very friendly over the phone and quoting higher than I anticipated. Rory and Son was friendly and accommodating immediately and they gave me a reasonable quote. I was comfortable to have them do the job and everything went smoothly.I have only gone to them for work since and they are always efficient and trustworthy. Ive even had to stop in for a minor emergency situation and they were able to help me, quickly, right there in the parking lot. They do not over charge or tack on unnecessary extras. They will help you locate parts if you wish to purchase outside of them and have them put them on. They are knowledgeable and kind. James is always a pleasure to speak with and feels like a friend at this point. 10/10 would recommend Rory and Son to everyone.

Very dissatisfied with my experience with this shop. I came to Rory in a time of need. Im in the Navy and had two weeks to get my transmission fixed due to needing to be back at my duty station. They promised to get everything fixed and be better than stock, capable of 650hp and that they do these builds all the time. I was super happy to hear this. I asked before they did anything, what would happen if something happened to the newly rebuilt transmission? They said weve had that happen and collaborated with other shops and worked with them to get everything fixed. Not only did I end up having to take leave to get the truck fixed because they didnt fix it in time but when they said they were done the truck still hesitated to engage in drive. They went back in and found a clogged pump. Something that shouldve been fixed to begin with. After all this finally I had my truck back and was satisfied. After only 12000 miles on the truck after the rebuild my transmission is toast. I called Rory and basically was told there was nothing they could or would do. So after dropping 5200 dollars with these guys Im stuck in the same position as I was before hand. They offered no help and told me we cant warranty soft parts. I called Alto, the company that manufactures the clutch packs, and they said that was 100% false. That they would and will warranty my clutch packs.

This is a two-part review, as I appear to have neglected to leave one from the last time I had work done here.Rory, James and Co did an absolutely killer rework on my Crown Victoria last year. They swapped in a PI motor (and even arranged for the core to be returned), long tube headers, high stall torque converter, and completely rebuilt the rear end (3.73s, LSD, new seals, etc). Threw a custom tune on it, and a year and a half and over 15,000 miles later, it still runs like a scalded ape! Every single retainer, bolt, cover, wire, etc was back on the motor, like it was brand new. Their attention to detail absolutely amazed me, and James would e-mail me status updates as the job went along.More recently, I had a steering column with too much play in one of my other cars. I yanked a steering column from the pick and pull, but was leery of attempting to put it on myself, since the ignition module, shifter, levers, clockspring, etc all had to be switched out. I was quoted an extremely fair price over the phone, and brought it in shortly after. They noticed that my existing steering column had some set screws that were loose, and only charged me a fraction of the original quote by just snugging them up. Thats right folks, these guys could have done the job I asked them to do for MORE money (and I would have been none the wiser), but they were HONEST and tried to save me money. You dont see that too often. If at all.The set screws began causing some clicking noises shortly after (come to find out, this is from a previous mechanic goofing with it as a band-aid fix to rip off the previous owner--had nothing to do with Rory and Son), so I brought it back for Rory to take a look at it. He went out of his way to actually schedule me in for a same day appointment, credited me the original amount I paid, *AND* tweaked my exhaust so it was level. I cant make this stuff up.I am a shade tree mechanic, and have been wrenching since I grew enough of a pair to bust a lug nut loose, so I know enough to be dangerous and to call BS when I see it. And you wont find any of that BS here. Rory, James, and the other mechanics they have on staff are the real deal. They are glad to tackle the tough jobs that are beyond my level of expertise, and I am glad to drive 30+ minutes one way to have them do just that. I look forward to the repeat business and the continued superior work they do.

Friday, July 8th, after looking online for a transmission specialist, I came across Roy and Son. They had a review rating of 5 stars. After reading all of the reviews, I went to their web and read their story. Once I read their story, I was convinced that I had to go see them. That afternoon, I visited their shop and described to them what I thought my issues were with my 2003 Dodge Ram 1500. Before I could even finish describing my problems, Rory was able to give a quick diagnosis and from memory tell me what make and model of transmission was in my truck. Very impressive. Since it was late on Friday, he told me to bring it back the following Tuesday and we would take it for a test drive to confirm is initial diagnosis.Tuesday, 12 July, took my 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 to Rory and Son for what I thought was my transmission slipping when shifting into overdrive. Rory and I took it for a test drive and he informed me that what I thought was slippage based on the symptom I described that previous Friday, was actually a cylinder misfire. To confirm his suspicion, Rory hooked his OBD II Code scanner to run a quick test of the computer. While hooked up, we took my truck back out for a test drive and confirmed that it was Cylinder 2 misfire condition and not the transmission. I asked him what I owed him for his time, he said nothing. I thanked him for his time and how much I appreciated his.He advised me to check the spark plugs and said more than likely that was my issue. On Saturday, 16 July, I changed out all 8 of my spark plugs. All 8 of my spark plugs were completely shot. I changed them out and since then my truck has is running great with no slippage/bucking going on in between shifts.Thank you again Rory. What could have been a $1500 repair, only cost me $25 for spark plugs and a few hours of labor on my part. These guys are legit and know their stuff. Customer Service is outstanding. I highly recommend them.Chris Noble - Very Satisfied Customer
