The bar and its staff are awesome and very polite . the environment is very laid back and chill would recommend anyone of age to visit 1831. love that place.

The new Tavern 1831 is completely different from the old bar. I agree that the old bar was very dirty and completely unwelcoming. However, the new place is the opposite. Under new ownership, the whole inside has been stripped out and renovated. It does not even resemble the old place. Very up to date and classed up. The atmosphere is nice, the staff is friendly, and the nonsmoking inside is a plus. They have good daily specials as well as BINGO on Wednesday nights. They have live music almost every weekend and the house band is great. I recommend it to anyone looking to have a good time in downtown Tuscaloosa!

They threw my drink out before they were closed. I had not been drinking that much and then spent a lot of money at their establishment and even tipped them well. And they did that. They said they’d give me a free drink next time but honestly I don’t want to come back here if they’re going to treat their customers like this. I was trying to have a good time with my friends and they ruined it.

Totally different experience than years ago. Super clean, smoke free!!!! They have a large selection of beer and alcohol. The bartenders are a pleasure to be around and always friendly. Not your typical bar! The live bands they provide are perfect for the atmosphere of the bar.Best bar in Tuscaloosa!

The new 1831 is a complete 180 from the old one. The entire place has been remodeled. The bar is great, marble bar top. really cool décor. huge beer and liquor selection. super clean and non smoking which for me is a big plus. no other place in downtown area like it. looking for a place to have a drink, check it out
