One of Tuscaloosas least accommodating customer lounges:I called Townsend Honda yesterday to make an appointment for routine maintenance. After some time on hold, Im told they do not take appointments. Its first come, first served. So, when I arrive today, I have to wonder what this service appointments lane sign means (see photo).Still, I give them my key and go to the lounge to wait. Compared to other Tuscaloosa dealerships, the lounge is tiny and EVERY SEAT IS FILLED.Am I going to STAND around for an undetermined length of time while they change my cars oil? Nope. I leave so that I can write this annoyed review and find somewhere else to get my Honda serviced.

Just purchased a new auto from Townsend and what an excellent experience! I began by texting the dealership about the car we were interested in purchasing after hours and Joey answered me back within minutes. We were able to handle most details via text and then just the paperwork when I was ready to purchase. Everyone in the dealership was courteous and Raheid did an exceptional job showing me all the features of the vehicle and how everything worked! Here is the deal, If you are looking for the absolute cheapest place to buy a Honda, not caring at all about post-sale service or how you are treated when buying, a big volume dealer is might be your best bet. You get what you pay for.But if you are looking for the best Customer Service, in both Sales and Service, Townsend Honda is the way to go. I had been servicing my 2014 Honda Accord EX-L with Townsend since around the time I moved to Alabama in 2014-2015, driving at least 45 minutes from the suburbs of Birmingham despite several dealers being closer. Townsends service department has always been upfront and cost competitive. In the meantime, my family has purchased three Hondas from Townsend.Last week I finally traded in my Accord for a CR-V, and the experience was excellent. Price-wise, I know I might have gotten a slightly better deal from another dealer. But what I would not have gotten is the amazing service Jane Cobb (our sales rep), Todd Holtet (Sales Manager), and Brody Townsend (General Manager) provided.Jane Cobb went out of her way long before I was even planning on a new car purchase, letting me test drive and look at multiple vehicles when waiting on oil changes (I drive a lot, so 6,000-10,000 miles between oil changes goes by quickly for me, meaning I am there often). She never pressured me, and even got me a referral bonus when one of my visits for an oil change resulted in my finding the perfect previously loved Honda for a family member who was in the market for that model. Most of all, kindness kindness kindness. Going to a big volume dealer MIGHT have saved me a little money on the car itself, but it wouldnt have gotten me the one on one attention and service Ive gotten used to at Townsend!BONUS: They gave me full market value for my trade, with no negotiating needed. Ive never had that kind of experience trading in a vehicle anywhere except Townsend.

Ive bought three Hondas in my life, all of them at Honda dealerships. Ive always had a good experience, which is why I continue to go back. I was honestly a little nervous to go car buying during a global pandemic. But this was the best experience of the three times. I think the biggest part of that was Randy Washington. He was the most chill salesperson I ever met. There was no pressure, or up-selling, and he treated me with respect. Randy went the extra mile and tracked down the exact color of HR-V I wanted (orange), which was not available at Townsend Honda, but he was able to get it for me. I am over-the-moon with my new 2020 HR-V!

I was driving from South MS to Delaware when I pulled over in Tuscaloosa because the check engine light came on in my Honda Pilot which never happened before. I googled Honda dealers near my location and found Townsend. I drove 2 miles to them with my Pilot kickingand bucking. I walked into the service Dept and told the gentlemen at the Service Desk I was in a tight spot! I was driving to Delaware to see my Father before he passed away and I didnt have much time. He told me they were booked out 7 days on service calls, but told me to pull my car into the service bay and he would take a look. The last time I had my oil changed, they didnt screw down the air filter tight enough and the intake was flooded with air. He checked everything and tightened the air filter and told me I could make it to Delaware. I drove the remaining 900 miles with no problems except the weather! Just wanted yall to know you have an Angel in your Service Dept and how grateful I am for your help! 😘

Was able to get an appointment just a couple of days in advance. The bill was only $20 more than the quote. When asked if I was waiting for the vehicle or leaving it I asked how long they expected it to take. They said at least two hours. I told them I would wait but wouldnt mind leaving it if I had to. A little more than an hour later my vehicle was finished. Best customer service Ive ever had at a dealership.

I called this dealership inquiring about a vehicle that was on the lot wanting to know information on it. So therefore I was transfer to sales. A white guy answer the phone and he was telling me that they know anything about the vehicle that it was there and that we my (dealership) could come get it. So I then started to ask questions, as I was asking question a black guy took over the conversation and told me that the vehicle was on the lot to come get it or they will have it tow. I asked him could I please speak with a manager, he hung up the phone. When the sale guy answer the phone he did not state his name and when the black salesman got on the phone he didnt state who he was as well. So I then called back to the dealership and asked for sale, Chance answer the phone, he told me the same thing, I asked him could I speak with a manager he ended the call. Now this is very very poor customer service no one wanted me to speak with the manger. If I was to be looking for an vehicle this will be one of the dealership I wouldnt dare spend my money at. THEY ARE RUDE!!!! VERY RUDE!!! And for you the owner to say that it’s offensive you should teach your employees to be truthful about whom they are better yet maybe you should retrain them on how to answer the phone and speak more professionally. Also you was very quick to response to the white guy black guy part of the review but never to how I was treated nor how your employees kept hanging up the phone on me. So with that being said the way that I identified them was the only way cause they didn’t make themselves know but wanted to get smart. And as far as refraining me from your dealership you would have had to never worry about me stepping foot on the dealership lot at all. I don’t do business with people that are rude, untruthful of who they are and most definitely doesn’t do business with people that talks to a woman the way that your employees did. So to you sir if I needed a vehicle it dang shoal wouldn’t be at your lot. So now you refrain yourself this review and go retrain your employees as well as yourself. 😘

My partner has been faithfully bringing his car for oil changes & timely maintenance for the past four years and never had an issue until the last visit. We just moved to Minnesota and had his car checked out before our drive since we felt like something funny was going on with the transmission. They checked it out and said it was starting to go but overall it should be fine for 5-10,000 more miles. On the first leg of our trip (280 miles) it broke down a mile from the hotel - after getting it TOWED to a mechanic it turns out the motor mounts were broken. I feel like they should have seen it since they were looking at the transmission & engine bay.Otherwise it would have been a five star review because they have been great about everything else.

My husband and I had a great experience last Saturday buying my 2020 Honda Accord. Our Sales rep, Mr Washington was great, financing was a breeze and our friend that helped show me all the great features on the car was great as well. My wife was looking for a new car and wanted one of the new sporty accords. So she found the one she wanted online and I contacted the dealership which got a salesman Trey Walker to call me back and get my information. The salesman was courteous, and knowledgeable and by the same time the next day gave me a call and said everything was ready to go, so I drove down during lunch shook ever ones hand signed the papers and was gone in less than 30 minutes. I dont see how it gets any better than that. Also the first free oil change was due last Saturday and I couldnt make it so my wife took it in herself. When I ask her how it went, she said everyone was so polite, proficient and it was a breeze. Long to short of it is, Townsend has a lot of car lots and years of experience and they just know how to do it right.

Brody and Brian are the worse when it comes to business. I was sold a bad car and they did absolutely nothing to help. Mr. JJ Taylor was the only person who helped me throughout my situation. This dealership was only concerned about the sale instead of owning up to their mistake and making it right. I tried to reach out to Brody and Brian via email and there wasn’t a response. The service department did a terrible job of inspecting the car that I was trying to purchase. It smelled of smoke from the previous owner and there was an opening near the pedals. Brian was extremely rude when he realized this sale was in jeopardy and he avoided all confrontation. Brody briefly agreed to meet and discuss the situation but he ultimately backed out and refused to talk. The deal was unethical and Brian did nothing to make it right or the owner.

John in the the service department was awesome. He was really friendly and helped take care of my vehicle, and it was clear that customer service was 10x more in important than making a buck, and I would definitely trust him and Honda in the future.

This is where I get my car service but they havent had a oil change special since last year in June and they try to tell me when I took my car in that it was like that but I know better than that a part was off my car I only drove it home and I looked at it and I havent drove it for days and thats when I realized it and I took it back to them and made them put the part back on

I waited 4 hours just to get my tires changed and oil changed. Very unhappy with this wait. People have been walking in and out and I was just sitting there. Terrible.

First of all myself family friends we have great service from the sale to service always have there my have been a mix up at times but can not recall anything that was not made right asap .the few bad reviews I have read I thank is hogwash people wanting something for nothing all places of business is not perfect just like buying a home nothing is perfect give the car people a brake so what if your part did not come in on time or it took a little longer on your oil change get over it life goes on if I was in the automotive business I would tell you to go to hell and be done all this social media has so much hogwash I have bought cars and trucks for 45 years and had them serviced at car dealerships and for the most part everything went just fine and for some reason it did not the car dealerships has made it right just wanted to give my 2 cents .

I did research of all of the different options online over the weekend. My past 2 cars have been Ford, which I bought both brand new and kept them 7+ years. I decided it was time for a change. Waited on hold for 10+ minutes for service dept, who never answered, to schedule a service appointment, and their service department isn’t even open on weekends. I can’t take off time during the week to have my vehicle serviced. Since they’re the only Honda dealership in T-Town, a dealership in BHam is going to get my business, which takes up even more of my time.

The service was outstanding, the sales person Blair Morrison went above and beyond. She independently researched a million questions I had and also found the car in the color I wanted to appease my needs. She even drove across Alabama to pick it up for me, and accomadated needs to address social distancing. She also was timely with information and being a super busy young professional, she was able to text me and help move the process along that way. Thank to Blair, Ill definitly go back there for my next car again! Id recommend working with her, and their finance person was also excellent.

I bought my 2018 Honda CRV July 2018. The salesman was Allen Ferguson. I am so appreciative to Allen for helping me and having the patience with me. The process went very smooth and the wait was not an issue at all. I brought my Honda back last Saturday my rain guards to be put on. The service team worked fast and system is well organized. My wait was not long at all. I am very pleased with Honda Townsend.

I’ve had all of my routine maintenance for my civic has been done here and a few aftermarket things, very pleased with each visit. They have great techs and great service advisors who are knowledgeable and also follow up with you regarding any work you’ve had done.

We were on vacation driving from Kentucky through Tuscaloosa on our way to New Orleans when we had car trouble. We cautiously drove to the dealership and they fit us in immediately and began working on our car even though they were very busy. Everyone was very nice and the staff even found us a charging cord for our phones. We camped out in the waiting room all day and no one seemed bothered by us. They offered many times to drive us somewhere to wait. Even though we are University of Kentucky fans, the people of Tuscaloosa were very kind. :) Go Big Blue

Worth checking the prices here. They often have the best price in town for genuine Honda parts and labor is usually reasonable.

I would never buy another car from them again. The car they did sale me was a 2013 with 76,656 miles on it. 4 days later it broke down. 2 weeks later took it out of town and it broke down again. Once I got it fixed, once again I tried telling them I wanted a new car because obviously this one had issues no one could fix. All they could say was I can’t help you with that. Beware.

Was there to take care of a recall on my car. I had called ahead and was assured that it could be done if I dropped in that very afternoon. I got there.right after lunch, was immediately attended to, and the repair was done in roughly 45 minutes, even less than initially quoted. Everyone was very helpful and nice as well.

You must go see Brian at Townsend Honda! He has been exceptional throughout the whole process. Always responsive and accommodating. The whole car buying experience made me nervous, but Brian made me feel comfortable and taken care of.

My wife and I were down in Tuscaloosa in January visiting our daughter at UA and were taking her car in to get her oil change and other maintenance done as well. The lady who was waiting on us could not get off her phone long enough to get our information. I waited for a few minutes politely trying to get her attention until she finally gave me her attention with a rude attitude. At that point i was highly upset with the unprofessional customer service. I decided to leave and went to Tameron Honda to have the work done. They provided a much more professional customer service. Needless to say, dont go to Townsend Honda and try to speak to the lady who was rude and unprofessional, she is in the business of social media and not customer service. Anyone else.

I had the best experience purchasing my brand new Accord from Trey Walker!! He was a excellent help from finding the exact car I wanted all the way to delivering me the car!! I work in Birmingham, but live in Tuscaloosa and he was able to help me out by staying after hours and letting me test drive my car. Ive bought 6 vehicles from a dealership before, but NONE have ever went as smooth as this one! Thank you so much to everyone at Townsend Honda, especially Trey!!
