I love this place. Helpful and friendly staff. Don’t try to up sell or pressure. As far as pricing goes, they are a little more than Academy Sports but I went to Academy Sports and the service can’t be measured. The knowledge can’t compare. I’ll be attending the classes and I will be a return customer. Always a great experience! Thank you for doing what you do guys!

I can only speak to the CCW course at Cherokee firearms. I finally took it with instructor Tom Spence, his first time instructing it. I put it off a long time due to constitutional carry and that I have extensive handgun training in the past from military and State Department. That being said, I learned a lot, the course was enjoyable and informative and having many instructors in the past I can say Tom is a great one. Highly recommend for new or experienced firearms owners.

In Springfield to visit family and was looking for a good place to go shoot here. I was looking for a nice range before we came up and selected this one, Im glad we did. The range was very nice, staff were great and prices were good. If youre looking for an indoor range Id recommend going here.

Updating my review to add comments.Over the last 3 years I have purchased several firearms, ammo and other items from this store. I have been to the range several times and have even brought my young children to shoot. Each visit I have been met with very knowledgeable staff. The staff has never tried to push me into buying a certain type of firearm. They ask what you are looking for and help you find it. They are well staffed so there is always someone to help you find what you need or you are looking for.

I was deep cleaning cleaning my pistol for the first time because it is not used very often and was unable to get it back together. Ive never needed help before with any of of my firearms. I researched the Gunsmiths in Springield and decided to take my pistol to Cherokee Firearms. I showed them my pistol (Berreta .32 Tomcat) and the part I was having trouble with. The gentleman talked with the gunsmith and said if you dont mind waiting a few minutes he will see if he can get it together for you right now.I waited about 15 minutes and he brought the assembled gun to me.I asked him what I owed him and he said nothing!! It’s difficult to express how that made me feel.

Just called to see if they had any 9mm ammo.There reply was nope.Asked if they had any 17 hmr ammo.Reply again was nope.Asked if they knew when they may get some in. Final answer was the same nope.Absolutely 💯 no customer service here.Was looking to buy bulk ammo and willing to drive the 2 hours to get it. Nope not happening.

My first visit to Cherokee, I was a brand new handgun shooter of anything over a .22. I had never been to a range, never shopped for any personal weapon. Being a lady in a mans world is nerve-wracking. Seth at Cherokee quickly put that to rest. I went to Cherokee to try out the rental arsenal. I was looking for a handgun that fit me. Seth was most patient and kind whilst answering my questions and really put me at ease with the firearms. Every time Ive been in, the staff is helpful and I never feel in over my head.Since that first visit to Cherokee to try out personal protection firearms, I have obtained my CCW. I have tried out gun ranges in the area, as I need a place to practice. Let me tell you; you want to go to Cherokee. Its AIR CONDITIONED! Fog on your safety glasses is a real thing in the non-air conditioned ranges. You know the old saying, you get what you pay for? Its true. I have found both the customer service and the range quality at Cherokee to be better than their competitors.

The indoor range is top notch. First time you go they provide a range safety video that is very informative and lays out the rules perfectly. Super simple touch screen for setting target distance, comfortable temperature, just the safest and best range to really dial in your aim.

Went there with a boatload of questions, came out with a boatload of answers! Good employees, they care about their job and their customers. Their arsenal is amazing! Definitely a lot better then the Cabelas. Due to COVID, they are low on ammo, and weapon parts sadly, but still give this place a look! Its definitely worth it!

I’ve used the range a few times over the past couple of years, rented a few guns (didn’t know how to use them but they showed me) and also bought a kel tec sub 2000. Overall helpful and knowledgeable staff. Wish they had more ammo but I know it’s hard to come by due to demand now

I recently spent some time at Cherokee Firearms for their annual SIG DAYS event! The staff was amazing, the range is clean, well-ventilated and the range controls are easy to use and self-explanatory. Top notch facility and the weekend deals were unbeatable. Definitely keep an eye on this place for their sales events!

One of the best places in town. I go there often for the range and recently have purchased a handgun. Seth was great in helping me select a light for it as well really making me feel welcome. 10/10 reccomend.

Go to an actual gunsmith. Brought a pistol here a while back to get a fiber optic front sight installed. Being a bigger named place in town I assumed they were going to do it right (press the old sight out and the new one in), instead they used a hammer and punched the old one out and new one in. Put a big scratch in my slide and beat the dovetail all up! Disappointed is an understatement. I would not recommend buying or bringing anything here

Went in expecting to overpay for the same gun I had seen elsewhere. Turns out it was $50 cheaper than the big box sporting goods stores. Could not complain about that.I filled out the forms and about forty minutes later I was out the door with my new gun.Very knowledgeable and helpful staff . I will be going back for my next gun purchase and any work I need done.

Lanes are small. I went there to teach a friend who just recently lost her husband. You are not allowed to stand next to anyone, which detracts my ability to ensure she would hold the weapon in a safe manner. I could stand about three steps behind her and yell in hopes she was loading, unloading, and keeping her firearm safely down range. They make you fill out the paperwork, and watch a video.I get that, Safety first. As stated in another review someone said, there prices are high, and YOU WILL purchase something, they have it setup that way. Even if it is a cheap $4.00 pair of glasses! My prescription glasses are way stronger than the plastic $4.00 glasses they want you to buy. He told my cheap glass lens would pop right out! So, my $900.00 glasses would pop out just buy firing my firearms. If there was a range master, I was never told that, not even after the paperwork & video.Im glad we left and will never return.

Rude employees. Called to ask questions about shotguns and what they had in stock and man on the phone was extremely short and unfriendly. Constantly answering everything with “yeah sure” “mhm” “um sure”

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful for two first timers at an indoor range. The instructions and safety video were very clear and to the point. They had a very good selection of rental firearms and plenty of ammo to go around. The target transporting machines were very new and easy to operate. I will definitely be a return customer and I recommend you give them a try.

Do to the current virus procedures, I placed an order for a AK-47 mag. They gave me what they told me were AK 47 mags and a brown paper bag that was sealed. The magazines are in fact only for an AR platform. They are now refusing to exchange the magazines for the proper ones that I ordered the first time. And their customer service was not helpful at all.

The staff was awesome. We told them what we wanted and they helped us put together the best setup possible. They are super friendly and very attentive. I cant say enough good things about Cherokee Firearms. I would reccomend them for all you Firearms and accessories.

Great safety atmosphere! The shooting range is top notch! Their safety class is highly recommended, long but very educational and interesting. Ive heard how its a boring class but if you go with the mindset of wanting to learn all that you can about being safe,youll enjoy it. They give several breaks, and a hour lunch break.They definitely make it a safe environment to take youre family for a day of shooting at the range. Also when I asked about any gun that I was looking at, I was amazed at the knowledge they have of each and every gun in the store. It really helped me in making a decision about the gun i purchased.

Very safe and professional

We have been in several times. My wife was looking for a new rifle this week and Jesse answered all her questions. She bought a rifle with many accessories and a very nice carry case. Cherokees prices are very competitive, as I checked everything she purchased with several online retailers. I prefer to support my local store and range. As with all things in life, some are never happy. We are very pleased and have brought many friends to Cherokee. They are all exceptionally pleased also!

Had a terrible experience at Cherokee Firearms yesterday. Noticed a new employee as I walked in. Seemed a little hostile towards the customers so I just kept to myself. The wife, myself and 2 friends were inside the range enjoying our time. Noticed that the angry employee entered the range with a rifle pointing forward and not up. He kicked my friends rifle bag as he entered and mumbled something. Doesnt matter. He gives me a look like hes unhappy with me. I ignore him and keep shooting. 20 minutes later hes in there yelling at the poor guys a couple stalls down for no reason. I was a little shocked. This guy has zero tact and no pr skills. We are getting ready to leave and my friend asks if I would take his picture holding one of my pistols. Both of us are extremely dedicated to gun safety and practice it religiously. I check again for a safe and empty weapon and so did my friend. I snap a picture and hand him his phone as he hands me my pistol. As I turn to place it in my gun case, the hostile employee enters yelling and snatches my pistol from my hand and shoves my arm. He checks the pistol for safety as hes yelling at us. He sees that the weapon is empty and hands it back. All the time hes yelling no no no. Never once looked at me eye to eye. I stood there in disbelief in his actions. Im pretty sure the whole time he safety checked my gun he had it pointed at my buddy. This guy has zero business in a place like that. I was going to address the situation to the owner, but at my surprise, the owner was standing there watching. I had a good time at their range but I dont think I will return. My wife kept telling me, he may be having a bad day and I concur. The longer I thought on it the more I question her thought. If he was truly having a bad day, the owner condones those kind of abusive actions towards the customers. The owner also gave me attitude before I even entered the range when I asked him a simple question while trying to pick out some ammo to purchase.Am I over reacting?

I’ve had a range membership here for about a year now. I purchased it with Cherokee initially because they were close to my office and it makes for easy lunch trips over as well as not far out of my way at the end of my workday. Seth helped me get signed up and I quickly got to know Jesse (I hope I’m spelling this right, if not my apologies!). Seth and Jesse often recognize me upon entry to the store and call me by name when I’m there. You can’t beat that level of service.I took an entry-level reloading class here and it helped me get over the edge to start reloading. Money well spent just like my range membership.It’s difficult to find things to be critical about that Cherokee could actually address, most things are my own personal challenges and mostly center around my interest in finding the best deal possible (IE: least expensive, which Cherokee isn’t always) rather than just supporting them as my local shop. Instead I share my business with some other local shops depending on what I’m looking for or just simply what they happen to have on the shelf at a time when I have cash in my wallet. One thing I guess I would be critical of, is the standard level of service that the other employees outside of Seth and Jesse sometimes offer. It’s no knock on them, their service is good and there’s no way I could complain if I wasn’t so well taken care of by name when Seth and Jesse are around. For the first few months of my membership I would come in at random days and times and I quickly noticed a difference and therefore just stick to certain days when I know they’re around. It’s a silly thing but it makes them stand out.All in all, a great shop and great range with fantastic people. Couldn’t ask for much more than that.

I try to shop local but when you don’t get any help or can’t get any questions answered, why would I? I’ve tried three different times to purchase firearms here and every time, the employees can’t answer my questions but they are real quick to try and tell you what they do know, even if it has nothing to do with what I’m trying to find out. You would think the employees would have experience with the firearms they sell. The owner seems like he doesn’t want the business. These are the experiences that make me shop online.

I have been to Cherokee Firearms many times, I have only made a couple of purchases here simply because their prices are simply too high on most items although they do have a great selection of virtually everything. I love the service and the people and their shooting range is top notch. Its by far the best place in town and I am actually a member of the other place south of Springfield. The acoustics in this range are literally the best I have ever experienced. Someone can be popping off an AR-15 in the stall next to you and you are pretty much good with single level hearing protection. Down south, I always double up because its just concrete walls, very little sound absorption.I cannot bring myself to being a range member here simply because their ammo and reloading components are literally 20% to 30% above everyone else. I know they have a business to run and it looks like they are doing quite well.Bottom line: If you are looking for a great place to shoot your firearms, then this is probably a good place for you. If you need to purchase a gun, they have a very nice selection but they are on the upper price side of the stores in Springfield. Great Store, Great People, just a little expensive for me.

The best place to shoot your pistol or rifles. The lanes are very well lite, the stalls are user friendly and easy to pick up and if you need assistance they have guys right behind you to help you out.

Picked up a Cherokee branded AR9 pistol (Tali) and have been very pleased. Great accuracy, mil spec trigger is better than most. One note to potential buyers, they need to run lubed well. I have some standard caliber ARs that run well dry but this being a blow-back with a heavy bolt needs good lube. (Make sure you lube the buffer and tube too).Great gun!

It had been a while since I had taken my 6.5 Swedish Mauser out of the closet, so I wanted to have a professional look it over and make sure it as good to go. I needed some ammo for it anyway, so I decided to bring the Swede to Cherokee.Ed, I believe his name was, was very helpful. He gave me some great pointers on products and techniques for cleaning. He seemed happy to show me a variety of products and give recommendations, but also didnt try to push the most expensive products. In fact, the ammo he recommended wasnt the most expensive, by far.In summary, Id recommend Cherokee. Courteous, informative and prompt service. Im sure Ill be back.

Place is a joke. Highest prices on guns and accessories in town. Rude staff. Spent $600, including ammo and accessories, then ask if I could use the range for 10 minutes for free, their exact response was hell no, its $20 I then ask if at least my friend could join me in the range, not shooting, just spectating, they said that would be another $10 for him. Wont ever go back. Ill just go to bass pro where its $3 for indoor shooting, with no spectator fee

Customer service was horrible..waited for someone to help me but they all ignored me ..even made eye contact with them and nothing ..was at the cash register waiting....the woman was very kind but as for the guys behind the counter I felt ignored...on the other hand 5 stars for the class and instructors as well as the guy helping in the range area...very helpful young man..so I do recommend the class as they are very informative and very helpful

While experienced in center-fire rifles & compound bows, I have little knowledge of muzzle-loaders. After talking to some friends I went to Cherokee Firearms & had a very positive experience. I was treated with respect, I left with more knowledge as well as supplies, and I was never pressured to buy the most expensive item available. As a matter of fact the owner under sold several items after listening to & honoring my goals with the rifle.

I am an amputee and ride my mobility scooter all around Springfield, When my scooter wouldnt make the 90 turn into the range 2 employees practically ÇARRIED me into à shooting stall and set me up. One super nice super big guy even stayed with me the whole time, then helped me back out & onto my scooter again! One of the best experiences Ive ever seen of helpful, encouraging people, I believe a second person who helped me was Nick, the owner.

Have only visited once, but was very pleased with the customer service that we received. The staff was knowledgeable and answered my questions without talking down to me. I have visited another range in the area where that has happened. We will definitely be returning.

My experiences with the staff at Cherokee Firearms have been nothing but excellent. I have purchased a few things from them in the past and they have been very helpful and kind. This weekend, I used their range for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. I was admittedly nervous because it was my first time at a range by myself. I voiced my concerns to Brett and asked for any advice he might have to help me improve my shots. I honestly did not expect his response to my question. Not only did he show me a product that could help with my performance even when I’m not at a range, but he came into the firing range and gave me several tips that instantly improved my shot proximity. I left extremely impressed and felt as though that was the best $20 I had spent in a long time. I will definitely be back. Thank you!

The range itself wasnt terrible, but not as good as some others around the midwest. It was kept very clean, but only shooting out to 50 ft isnt ideal to some people. Also, there is no storage space underneath the shooting bench, which would be nice as I dont like my guns on the table getting hit with brass. Anyways, walking in, immediately I was greeted by a bigger (muscular) guy with tattoos on his arms, darker complexion, clean cut, who was very rude and short spoken to both me and my mother after going through the check in process for the the shooting range. A little generosity goes a long way, so we will not be coming back.

The employees were very helpful, informative and friendly. The store is beautifully kept and stocked. The firing range was wonderful. Prices for the items I was interested in seemed reasonable.

My first visit to Cherokee firearms approximately 2 years ago to purchase a pistol and accessories went well. Today we returned to use the shooting range. The person at the register checking people in was very unfriendly, ordered people around in a rude manner. While in the shooting range itself we witnessed staff speaking to customers unprofessionally and embarrassing them. Nobody at any timeshowed any appreciation for our business and acted like we were inconveniencing them.I will not bring my family or friends back after todays experience.This is a nice facility unfortunately the owner needs to have a meeting with their staff and straighten their attitude out toward customers.

Fair and honest. These guys won’t fluff it up for sales, and they have a heck of a selection. Great place for mounts and adjustments, too. Never had an issue with anything I’ve bought there.

They ordered 2 guns for us and were very friendly and helpful. Super fast getting the guns in. Very happy with their service. Also they are very helpful with women and dont make you feel like you have no business buying a gun like some gun stores do.

This place is over priced and a RIP off took wife to try a gun out before making a purchase. They charged both of us to rent the same gun. Over 80 bucks to shoot 50 rounds. I have driven to many gun ranges in a search for the right gun for my wife and have never been treated so rude. They offer military/veteran discount but expect to be treated poorly when asking about it. I will never return nor will I recommend such a place that is clearly ripping people off.Edit.Prices were not explained on the rental. If it had been explained that we would both be charged for the same gun. One gun one rental fee? Not one gun two rental fees. Sorry you do not understand how to explain your fees. Or if when a customer says they are only getting one gun to try out maybe you could use whats called customer service and explain or question if the customer understands they are being charged twice for the same gun. But your shop is nothing but greed and RIP off. Sure you may have your locals you cater to but your loss. I had planned on buying 2 guns today but your poor customer service lost the sell of 2 guns.

Huge assist from Seth, took in my Walther P22 with laser ( I thought laser batteries were dead) batteries were fine laser was dead. They had two replacements, original Walther with tiny on/off switch and a Crimson Trace with large buttons on both sides! With my MS effecting my sense of touch, the buttons were a huge improvement. Also great tip to cock easier. Thanks again and great value.

Took my husband here to buy a Benchmade knife for his birthday. The guy that helped us was an expert and super helpful in picking out a knife. He dealt with my husbands lack of decisiveness with a smile and was never pushy. I cant remember his name, but he had a great beard! The store was super clean, the range looked modern and high quality. Will definitely be going back!

Cherokee Firearms were great. This was my first time in a indoor firing range. I had a BLAST😀. My instructor Seth took extra time to go back over gun safety to me. He answered all my questions. I visited for the first time today and they fixed my small issue on my gun and didnt even charge me. They were helpful and seemed more about goodwill instead of just making a fast buck. Ill be back.

This is one of the better gun shops in town. It is big enough to offer a wide variety of guns, ammo and accessories, and the staff is very helpful. I wouldnt say I found any stellar deals here, but I did find some things I needed and couldnt find anywhere else in town.

I went to Cherokee Firearms today as a complete novice when it came to guns. I left as a proud owner of my first handgun. The staff was all very helpful and quite friendly. The other customers, too, gave me friendly advice, making the overall atmosphere in the store really delightful. I happened to bring my husband with me, as we both had the time to spend together; the staff at Cherokee quickly picked up on the idea that this was going to be my gun, and never talked over my head at my husband. I really enjoyed my experience today, and highly recommend it.

So, I debated on whether to give 3 or 4 stars. I decided on 4 because probably what bothers me might not bother everyone, but I am writing the review more to inform others.I was in the store the other day with my son and with a friend. While I was not there for myself, my skn and I like to look at the pistols he is interested in. The younger gentleman behind the counter was polite, but while we were lookin began to take diffferent pistols out and just dry fire them a few times. I know this can be done without harm to I believe many pistols nowadays. I would prefer to buy a gun that has not had this done to it and will not buy a gun I know has had this done. And with how comfortable this guy was with doing so, I do not know how many times the different guns have had this done to them since being in the case. Just something to thing about when buying a new gun.Otherwise, I have bought a gun or two here and had a couple worked on by one of the gunsmiths and been relatively happy overall with the service I have recieved. I do find most prices relatively good though there are some guns that I see as a little high. Indont do indoor ranges so I dont have any real feedback there.

Bad business. Bad experience every time Ive ever visited. As with many other reviews the customer service is terrible and they talk to you like youre stupid. Their prices are too high and take advantage of your lack of knowledge. I brought in an older shotgun the other day that was a family peice to try to find a firing pin. I walk to the counter with the pin, I took out myself, and the shotgun. I say Im looking for a firing pin, the first thing they say is, No. I dont have anything for that, are you sure theres not anything else wrong with it, I mean when was the last time it was used, just because it is an older shotgun. He said he would have to drill it out and come up with something and I was looking at 2-3 weeks and about $100. After much frustration I left. I go to Bass Pro and talk to the gunsmiths and they hook me up in 20 minutes and traded me for another firing pin I had straight across, a $10 part. The gunsmiths at Bass Pro are very good guys.

This is the second visit to this shop. This time I took a couple of friends just to see if they got the same vibes. Spoke with a guy with Tattoos all over his arms about a firearm. It was like putting teeth to get a simple answer and also service. We were just being ignored to boot. No problem as went to a National hunting and fishing store and bought what I was looking for. Lost more than one today!

Just went in to browse around because Ive never been there before. They have a good selection of pistols (semi-auto, and revolvers) seemed to be more revolvers though. Wall was full of various long guns in various calibers. Staff was friendly and helpful. Plenty of various holsters, reloading stuff, ammo, magazines, parts, and other stuff.

Bought a new Leupold scope from them and they installed it on Henry 45 70 riffle staff very helpful very professional thanks Cherokee

This week I went to Cherokee Firearms to purchase a suppressor. I had observed their Facebook post about their new online sales page and found what I thought was a deal. I give them 2 stars for having the sale and being able to order the suppressor for me while it was showing out of stock. If it was not for those things, I would give them 1 star as the web-page itself is of very poor qualityI have been into the store several times since they opened their new location. Each time I encounter an employee who is less than helpful and VERY RUDE. I am not super knowledgeable when it comes to purchasing suppressors, but for someone that was going to give the store over 30% profit on a single item. I do not appreciate the disrespectful manner of their employees. I dont know that I will purchase again from them until they learn customer service.

This place has an indoor range and a good selection of firearms.
