First time trying. Drive through was slow and when I got to the window a woman, staff member was angrily yelling about someone shutting off the cooler. Quite a ruckus, which I assume was not the normal floor show! Very unprofessional! Too bad, it’s a cute place. The food was pretty good but if you are going to be in Springfield go to Casper’s- way better and their staff is the best anywhere!
Our first time trying Reds, it was delicious. We loved their hand cut fries, and the fact that they werent over salted! Our burgers were fantastic! My youngest son took on the Sooper Burger, which was 3 burger patties, 3 cheese slices and bacon and ham. He said best burger in a very long time. We also got malts and a banana split before leaving. They have a very simple menu a d everything was hand made and brought to our table fresh. We will definitely go back!Also Bethany was great. She took pur order, rang us up and brought our food to our table. Afterwards she asked us how we enjoyed our food, made us feel welcome and told us to come back anytime! It was a nice dining experience in a fun little hometown diner atmosphere.
I’ve been to reds a few times. Most of the time the burgers and service are great, but sometimes the service is sub par. The shakes are great as are the sweet potato fries! I rated 4 stars due to the occasional poor service and the most recent time my order was messed up half way. Overall not bad and pretty decent. I’ll eat here again but it’s not my first choice. 3.5 out of 5 rounded up on the stars.
Portions were perfect! The sweet potato fries were amazing! The regular fries seemed a little soft but not bad. My fiance ate his burger so fast there wasnt much left for a photo lol chicken was huge!!!!Totally worth the cost! I do wish the burger bun wasnt so cheap, it was falling apart and cracking bad.Definitely worth the visit.
Great burger diner!! Chicken strips were amazing. Ice cream, milk shakes, bacon burgers!! All great all Americans flavors.Came from out of state. Brought grandkids and family. I asked that the music be turned down a little in the corner where we were.... as family Booths are limited to a few. The young lady explained...I think she said as the music was so loud that she could be fired for reducing it. I laughed out loud 😂. Families are in her and it was actually unsafe for my grand babies ears. Paid 100.00 to look at each other over diner as we couldnt talk. Just dumb. Mood music is on thing. Concert hall another!! Especially in front of tables! Dumb idea.
I had the pork tenderloin and it was huge and delish! My friend had a medium size hamburger which she said was good and we both had onion rings and chocolate malts and they were great too! Nice clean and fast restaurant with drive through if you prefer. Highly recommended by me. Best onion rings in the area and pork tenderloin had just the right amount of spice, crunch and juicy inside. You will come back for more! lol
I was looking for cheap eats and this restaurant popped up. The cashier recommended a delicious pork tenderloin burger. The food was made in a timely manner. I would not have upgraded to the combo if I had known how large the burger was going to be. The interior is fascinating as someone put a lot of work into the retro design.
SLOW!!!! No one in line when I walked in. Waited for almost five minutes for the lady to finish cleaning tables before she came to the register to take my order. I placed my order at 1:19 as noted on the receipt. 20 minutes later I went to the counter to ask if they lost my order. She stepped away to check and came back with my order. She said it just came up. However the food was only slightly warm at best. Obviously it’s been sitting there for a while. Very disappointed. Cold fries are the worst.
My husband and I had heard great things about Reds and we wanted to try it out. We went on 7/23/21 arrived at 7:30. Inside was not packed, but the drive thru was slightly busy. We we walked in, we looked at the menu and waited to order, we stood there for a good 5 minutes before any of the three workers acknowledged us. When we did get to order, the employee could not have cared less about us or what we wanted, she was completely disengaged. Now, I am the first person to give any employee a break when its been a bad/busy night, but this girl looked like she had just hauled herself off the couch to come to work(dirty t-shirt, bike shorts, socks and slide sandals) we both ordered burgers, fries, and drinks. She gave us our drink cups and we walked over to fill them, only to figure out there was no ice, there were also other customers looking around for where to go, finally I asked if we could have some and the same girl walked over to the ice cream freezer, scooped some ice into our cups and shoved them back to us. My husband had water, I had Dr Pepper, which was flat and tasted awful. There were no napkins in the lobby at all, the station for getting ketchup and reds sauce was dirty, my husband looked around and found a bag full of napkins just sitting by the counter, he pulled a few out and a very long hair came with them. In spite of all this, we had already paid for our food, so we went to look for a place to sit, there was not one clean table in the restaurant. We found the least dirty table and wiped it down ourselves with wipes(always prepared, thanks covid) we finally got our food and while it wasnt bad, it was definitely not good. The fries were overcooked and mushy and the burgers had no flavor whatsoever. Im usually one for giving a place a second chance, but the level of disappointment and disgust that went with this visit, we will not be going back. It stinks because we like supporting local businesses and we had high hopes, but this was just too much. I have attached photos of messes for those who will say Im being extra about it.

We looked at some reviews before we stopped in. Was expecting a just OK restaurant. We took 6 people with us and got our food right away. Staff was friendly and keeping themselves busy. When asked for help they jump right away to help a customer who had made a mess and were asking others if everything was OK and if they needed anything. Pork tender sandwich was great and the burgers were old fashion like a deliciousIce cream was extremely reasonably priced and very good. Cant beat that.Only thing we didnt care for was the fries. We like crispy fries. This is the only reason we gave a 4 star reviews.Building and decor was fun and interesting overall good place.
Not only were the staff completely rude when the order was taken, but when we ordered a banana split the girl said through the mic “tell him we are out I don’t wanna make it”. Then we ordered a double scoop of ice cream and got the picture below that had a single scoop. When I called in to complain the “manager” was rude from the time the phone was answered and said they won’t be doing anything to fix it. I used to love coming here but I won’t ever return. I will also make sure that anytime I hear of anyone talking about wanting to try Reds I will tell them of my experience.
It was busy and I understand the 30+ minutes to wait but order wasnt correct. Have cheese on a burger when I said none of them have cheese and missing a fry and onion rings. Also the drive thru worker had an attitude which was free but not appreciated.

Purposely arrived after Saturdays lunchtime rush. Placed order at counter got our self serve drinks sat at table. Route 66 decor. Loads of old photos on walls. Chandeliers with Christmas bubble lights. Lots to look at which was good because food was very slow in coming. We were number 76 and the first order up was 51. About 20 minutes in something changed and orders came out much quicker, as if extra help had arrived. Apologies were made for the slowness and our burgers and fries were excellent.
My wife and I had a great experience. Excellent atmosphere and food at amazing prices. My new favorite low cost diner in Springfield! Dont hesitate to try them. Fun atmosphere and the staff were very friendly. People giving bad reviews due to health Dept requirements to wear mask need to realize that is the choice of the local government, not any fault of the restaurant. This excellent business employs many people to offer customers the best service possible and Im thankful for their continued existence in the difficult circumstances we find ourselves in. If your kids want some ice cream for dessert you wont have to say no because the price is surprisingly low. I cant speak to the drive thru experience as I havent tried it but I would say freshly made food does generally take longer to make so it would feel long compared to fast food joints so come when you have time to enjoy it in the dining room for the best experience. 5 stars and keep up the great work Reds!!!

We had went in for a nice dinner tonight. Order a pork tenderloin sandwich combo and a hamburger combo. We end up with a chicken sandwich and the young manger was trying to tell us it was a pork tenderloin sandwich. There was no way it was, ask to replace it for a hamburger and they wanted to charge us. We have already over paid for our meal. Pork tenderloin combo 9.99 and chicken combo 7.99. No plans on going there again. Will be getting ahold of Trish this week to see if this can be solved. The young guy wanted to show me the box and that was not necessary.
I wanted to LOVE this place. The nostalgic 50s decor, the menu, it just really screams cool...Until you order the food. The staff is really, really bad. Wait times are crazy and theyre rude and blatantly have a dont care attitude.The food LOOKED OK, but about 1/2 way through my burger it had a really bad taste of being seasoned with CINNAMON or NUTMEG?!? Fine for dessert, but not on beef!To say Im let down is a vast understatement.

Used to love Reds. Today was terrible. 45 minutes from speaker to food in hand. Employees were rude. Asked for fresh drinks because they had been sitting in the window the entire 20 minutes we were there waiting for our food and the ice was melted. When I asked for a fresh root beer because it also had melted ice (when it normally doesnt have ice at all) the manager(?) then came to the window to see what our problem was. He then argued about why we needed fresh drinks and basically asked us to leave. I try to be as understanding as possible when I know everywhere is short staffed, but this was ridiculous. Never again.
The food alone is good enough to sell this place as a great option, but the nostalgia the moment you enter the parking lot is second to none. You could spend an hour looking at all the photos on the wall. The tv setups that tell you info about the song being played is so cool. The table and booth decor is awesome as well. A must stop when youre anywhere near Springfield
Very good food. Hamburgers were just right. Pork tenderloin was big and just right. Fries looked hand cut. Onion rings were sweet and just enough breading. Order at counter. They do have a drive thru.

Very nostalgic place especially for the generation that remembers the original Reds. First off everything is terribly greasy but you should expect that from an old fashioned burger joint. The burgers are good, well cooked with a nice flavor. The fries are not so good. The hand cut potato fries come across tasting more of burnt oil than potato. They are not the worst fries Ive had but they arent great.The atmosphere is really what sets this place apart. It has a very rustic yet somehow modern late 40s-50s diner vibe. I love the colorful furniture and drive-in speakers at every booth. They actually work too! The walls are covered with old family photos and historical memorabilia much of which is from the area.Next time I will have to try the ice cream. 😊
Absolutely best experience we have ever had in a drive through. Food is off the charts amazing and the service is fantastic. We had our 140 pound dog with us today and was hanging out the window. Lady in the drive through asked if he could have a scope of ice cream and came back with a scoop and some whipped cream. He loved it and she was so nice. Will for sure be going back. In a drive through window, there is no better food or service!!!

The hamburgers here are like a high quality McDonalds burger. And I do mean that in a good way, they are simple and good. 60s ambiance and clean. Good value, we will return.

I went with my family, who had been here before and said it was amazing! The food was wonderful, when we finally received it. I only blame this covid garbage for them being short handed. I want to give five stars, the staff was courteous and apologetic and the food was delicious. Definitely recommend, and will return when this covid thing has moved on! Great job guys!

We went and ate here because I had been told decent things about it. It did not live up to what I had been told or what you would expect from a food place at all. Theme wasnt bad music either but service is a killer I ordered bacon on my burger never got bacon or the condiments that were normally on it. I was so annoyed I decided not to eat at all a couple bites. Then the girl I date wanted a banana split and didnt want chocolate syrup on it only to be told they cant not put it on there. It was pretty ridiculous time all around you just might end up frustrated
Really really good food. The burgers are really big, the bacon is some of the best bacon I have ever had and the fries were yummy. The buns were super soft and the patties made from scratch. The fries are definitely fresh and were not overcooked. I did not try the ice cream but I definitely will next time. Go check them out and just a word of advice dont go when its super busy.
As far as I am concerned, it looks good... The burger I got served at the drive thru was dry, the bun was so dry it was falling apart, the meat was over cooked, like it had been under a heat lamp. I am not slamming them because times are hard all over and the place looked new. The Prices are in the real good burger range, think (5guys), but the food is not up to what I expect. I am aware that Reds Giant is an old brand with a historic story linked to old route 66 and new owners are trying to bring it back. The Frys were better than the burger, but still not up to the quality of an upscale Burger Joint. I admit that I use In &out as my standard to measure by... The place looked good, but I feel like they need to focus more on the quality of the food. I will try them again next time I am up that way, will update this review then.
Both times I go great burgers great food but the drinks are very lacking. I was given a milkshake and then had to wait 10 minutes for my food in the drive-through so by the time I get home the milkshake was completely thawed. And also the rich beer had melted ice in it and hardly had any ice in it and what ice was melted it tasted water down. Not good for two meals for $25 I would say the quality should be better I think this is due to the customer service and probably low wages given to the people that work inside you need to be paying people inside at least $15 an hourOr you’re not gonna get good service from people to provide good customer service people getting paid less than thatHad to update review because I just got home and checked and they forgot a whole order of fries
First time eating here and it was absolutely one of the best burgers I have ever eaten in my entire life. The fries were really good too! The ONLY reason I cant give Reds a 5 star review is because of the volume of their television in the dining area. Could not hear the person sitting next/across from you because the t.v. is so loud... So by all means go to Reds! Just use the drive thru...
Loved the burger and fries, was a really nice change not to have something bathed in salt. Diner is real cool, love the chandeliers, will definitely be back to try a shake.

Take a step back in time to a 50s style diner at Reds Giant Hamburg. The menu has plenty of burgers, fries and chili covered items. Red has a good story about the beginnings of the diner. The burgers are oh so good for a reason... You cant worry about your cholesterol count if you eat here. Reds also has a malt shop in the store, so save room for one of the tasty ice cream treats for desert.
Great food, great people! I love their burgers they are always fresh and flavorful. They also have a malt that is rich and unique called the Hunter special of which is a specific blend of cookie dough ice cream and moose tracks ice cream with Oreo and caramel. I request it every time I venture this fine establishment. The accuracy and quality of the food from Reds is always on point
This was my first visit to this establishment and I have to say that it was an excellent experience. The facility was neat and clean and the decorations were entertaining. Looking at all of the photos on the wall was quite interesting. The food was very good and the price was very reasonable. The best part of the whole experience was the staff. The young lady that took our order was excellent. She set the tone for the whole experience. She really made my day. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Have been attending this restaurant on and off since they opened, their food is great, burgers are always very tasty and their ice cream is always good. The cleanliness of the restaurant is also good, waitresses are always cleaning. Prices are fair for the area. The one thing they need to work on (my opinion), is their staff, yes they are quick, and yes they are very knowledgeable, but you can always hear them complain about their customers to each other, right at the front counter. I even heard the anger engage into what appeared to be a heated conversation with someone over the phone. Loud enough to disrupt me from ordering my food.
After roughly fifteen minutes waiting in line behind two other vehicles, I sat waiting to order for another ten without so much as a peep from anyone through the speaker. Reds has good food if you have the time, unfortunately I didnt have an hour to give today and ended up going elsewhere.

We finally got to try Red’s tonight. This place has been packed since it opened. I now know why.The restaurant is an order at the counter and take a seat place. It was a fun decor with lots of pictures on the wall and colorful old diner seating. Each table had a drive in speaker with the music piped through.The food was great. I had a “giant” with fries and a strawberry shake. The fries were hand cut and the burger was a type of steak burger thin patty. Both were well seasoned. They didn’t cut any corners on shake ingredients. Even the whipped cream tasted fresh.The prices were pretty good for that type of experience.

Ate at Reds on June 13 2021 for the first time in sixty years and was in no way disappointed. The burger was delicious and fries were fantastic. So good to remember the fun we had with my cousins. Reds was my favorite place to eat as a kid, I could have eaten there every day. Hope to go back soon.
I love the setup of the restaurant with 50s style diner. They have music playing and a bunch of photos from route 66. The chicken tenders are amazing and the best in town!! The burgers and ice cream are also great!

This fairly new building is based on a historic little Cafe that was on old route 66 in Springfield mo.red was a character who claims to be the first drive through in USA. Simple menu burgers fries shakes homemade rootbeer.This new store is built to show the history and good food.lots of photos.etc.hand cut fries,burgers.tenderloin.. great place.clean.not too expensive.
Chicken strips were huge and delicious! Ordered them for my kids but I had to steal a few bites. Ordered the frito pie, burgers and shakes. Everything was a huge portion. Their special sauce is also very good. Staff was super friendly.

The food here is always good, but this time the burgers were kinda just smashed and looked like they were just tossed together. The girl at the window was kind of rude and had an attitude when explaining to me that I couldnt order a root beer float on a combo which I said was fine. Other then that I always love coming here cause the burgers and fries are so good! Was just kind of disappointed with the service and I guess th way the food was kind of just smashed together.
This diner had a fun and retro atmosphere, cool lighting and unique 50s style decor. However, apart from the aesthetics, this restaurant did not have very much to offer as far as food or service. We did not get what we ordered and what we did get was cold and not very good. My family is gluten free and the kitchen workers didnt cater to that at all (there were non gluten free buns on all their burgers...) It was a neat experience, but we will not be going back.

Waited in drive thru, what seemed like at least 30 min. Surprised when girl at the window told us we got a discount for our wait. Nice of them to do that! Not a fast food as they make it all fresh so of course wait will be longer. I get it! Giant with cheese, red sauce caramelized onion and all the other condiments worth the wait. Next time Ill skip the fries and go with a shake. Tenderloin meaty, but a little spicy. Best one in Missouri. Well be back.

We lucked into this place on our way into Springfield, MO. Im sure glad we did. Its an absolute burger lovers paradise. Pretty simple menu, but the food is great!
Pulling up to the restaurant you feel like youre back in time, and it doesnt stop there. The ambiance is colorfully classic with the bright cherry reds and awesome patterns. They offer a variety of burgers with all sorts of toppings, but if burgers arent your thing they also have coney dogs and even frito pie! I got a giant burger with fries and the beef patty was so juicy and tender while the fries were crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked on the inside. The best part is everything is fresh and made to order! This is a great place to hang with friends and dig into some comfort food!

Not impressed couldnt even get order right Wow 32 bucks for 2 burger combos and 2 piece chicken. Home style fries good but the burger was thinner and dryer then all get out. Dont waste your money when you could get a better burger and way cheaper at steak and shake.

7-24-21. Food was good, however it’s was 91 outside and the A/C wasn’t working inside. There was no indication of the management working on it. No doors open to help or fans set out to subside the heat. I feel sorry for the employees for having to work under these conditions. We had to sit outside in our car, because it was way too hot inside.

First time here was waiting for it to calm down. Im upset. The food was not I expected its like the 2 other places in town. The burger I was expecting a good juice burger but was flat like the other 2 places in town. The fries were old and nasty the onion rings burnt. Nope I wont be back it was a let down...also I didnt go complain because i dont SEND FOOD back..who knows what will come back on it...been there had it done ONCE never will i return food.
