Im ashamed to say that it took me a few years to go here despite pasting it a bunch and wanting to start a comic book hobby. Seeing them close for the pandemic was a little scary but I was happy to see that they were doing so to remodel the place. They care about their store, comic and their customers and their weekly updates gave me that impression before I started to regularly visit. The staff is knowledgeable and will help you with anything that you are looking to find out of obtain. I was able to pre-order some graphic novels that I was excited for and even order specific ones that they did not currently carry. For graphic novels, they run a customer loyalty deal. Their email list is not abused. Not only will you find graphic novels and individual comic books, but also other literature and a decent selection of children books.
A very nice comic shop with a large selection of independent and unexpected graphic novels and a novel but delightful way of categorising them. This shop has back issues and new weekly comics but one feels they know their regulars well and new comics sell through promptly. The selection of comic art books, original art on display and the sections of small press and local small press comics is impressive. They have an incredible selection of independent titles, and it’s a warm atmosphere. On my recent visit Jesse and Juliet were working hard but engaged and chatted and helped no end. A lovely store.(And next to a lovely coffee shop Bloc.)
Best local comic shop in Somerville/Boston. My wife and I come to New England every year to visit her brother and every chance I get I come to Hub Comics. They have everything youre looking for. Whether you like capes and superheroes, indie books or just old school comics this is your home. No matter who has been manning the store they have always been helpful, kind and courteous. I have been to a bunch of stores and some of the sales people werent too inviting. This shop is the opposite. Its bright and full of new and interesting books and a huge indie section. I am personally evolving in my quest to learn more about the LGBTQ community and I found two books to help me on my journey. A Quick and Easy Guide to They/Them Pronouns and The Quick and Easy Guide to Queer and Trans Identities. Both books are by Oni Presss imprint called Limerence. Never even knew that was a thing and I shop comics every week. Honestly this is why I shop local because you find so many cool and interesting things. Always shop local and visit a comic shop today! Go forth and buy all the books!!
Great store for the comic fan.
Was under renovation but was still open for business. Friendly and great service. Curbside pickup.
Small shop but great collection of comics to choose from...I really like the staff and how they consistently promote local creators. The only reason Im not here more is because I live in Newton. I try to stop by whenever Im in Somerville
Great store. They always have good bundle deals. Really friendly staff, great selection, and they carry some local artists too.
This was a cool little comic shop. They carried most of the authors I was looking for, and the staff knew exactly what I was talking about when I brought up some more niche books. Their dedicated local section is also very cool, and I was really into reading some local talent. Definitely worth the stop if you live nearby
Ive not been here and they not have what I need. Very clean and the person who helped was kind, informational, and not pushy. Last trip got the last two Wicked+Divine and Die#3.
Big new & used comic store in an old house. Fun Fact: they also carry Zines! I didnt know people were still making those, but Im pleasantly surprised its still a Thing.
Great comic book store! They have a wide variety of recommendations, are very easy to talk to and have lots of knowledge, and have every category you could want. Great graphic novels section and a decent back issues section.
Awesome little store. Great selection and super user-friendly layout. Will definitely be returning. Great staff too! Such a gem.
Awesome staff. More in the realm of new releases and modern work.
A treasure of a local comic shop. Inviting and charming. Great selection, good browsing, knowledgeable and friendly staff.
This was a great shop! The kids were welcomed and treated like real customers. Excellent selection for all ages! Looking forward to visiting again.
They did NOT have the comic I was looking for, it was a new release that day. It seems they are a little more invested in pushing thier political agenda rather than stock good comics. When they advertise The Champions and the Antifa comic book its clear sings to stay far far away!!!!
Friendly and helpful staff that is always up for recommendations. Everything is well organized with plenty of space dedicated to non-superhero comics including local zines, alternative styles, history, science, sci-fi, fantasy, and other genres. If you buy 10 graphic novels or volume collections each year they give you a free graphic novel up to some price based on past purchases.
Love this comic shop. Everytime I find myself in Union Square I make a point to go there. Great selection of comic books and the staff is always friendly and helpful.
Its your neighborhood comic book store- I love it. Prices here good, staff are cool, and variety is nice
HUB COMICS just relaunched this year! Great service, and a beautiful shop. Look forward to more improvements soon. Great service and a graphic novel discount program. Game night Tuesdays, and events throughout the year! Dark Knight on a Dark Night features Batman artwork at the Winter Solstice annually.
Nice staff, and they have a rewards program so you can earn free graphic novels. not the most expansive selection, but its well curated and theyre happy to order books you want that they dont carry
Hub Comics has a great selection and is well organized by genre. Their hours make them seem like theyre always open and have very friendly staff. Its always a pleasure to shop there.
This is a wonderful independent comic shop with both a great selection of new releases as well as an extensive graphic novel collection, organized in a very logical and easy to browse manner. The staff has always been friendly. They have a nice habit of including a run of recent acclaimed books, so you can easily jump on board a new title.
Awesome staff who are incredibly knowledgeable and accommodating.
If you put your name in their system they have a policy where if you buy 10 comicsThey 11th is free based on the average amount you paid for the other 10Ive gotten a nice surprise quite a few times when buying in bulk and finding out one of the books is just freeOnly place Ive ever heard that does this
Very well presented, clean, well shelved. The couch is a nice touch. However,Despite its size and book quantity, the place had a paltry selection. It was mostly non fiction, old artists artbooks, lots of hard covers and the least interesting of indie titles out. No collectibles to speak of, even though they were proudly displayed on their Google pics. Instead, some sculpts who looked too rough to be professionally done, some DC and marvel paraphernalia ,some shirts. And small manga section. This might sound like a lot, but I assure you that it isnt. Especially since there are better places out there that have less. The staff was helpful though I give them that. The atmosphere felt like I was late to a party. It might not be for me,but some might really enjoy it. Hence the 3 star rating.
This is my favorite local business. Its the reason getting me to move out of Union Sq would be like pulling teeth. Hub Comics has amazing staff, a great selection, a wonderful atmosphere and a sense of community I have not found at any other business. I wish I could give this place more stars because it is so near and dear to my heart.
Favorite book store with nice staff. Love the organization in the store: nicely split between indies, Big Two (DC and Marvel), and manga and kids. Nice spotlighting on particular authors that might be sought out, like Neil Gaiman, as well as more local artists, or staff recommendations prominently display niche titles. Have liked suggestions when asking for them from the staff, highly recommended!
Hub Comics has a great selection and is organized in a clean and thoughtful way. More like a book shop than other comic books stores Ive been too. Friendly people with great suggestions based on other things youve read.
Wonderful neighborhood comic book shop. Great place to browse local authors and discover your next series.
I chose to live in Somerville partly because it has Hub comics. Its one of my favorite places to have a pull box, and just an all around awesome little shop. Love it.
Great indie comics along with some of the more commercial stuff. Regular visits from authors and illustrators
Support your Friendly Local Comic Book Shop! I just happened to be visiting the area, but if I lived here, this would be my shop. I grabbed two trades and chatted with the staff about my choices, and the music playing in the store, and some favorite movies. Comics are arranged by genre. They also have discounted bundles of full group of paperback trades. Its a really good deal if you want to get into a whole series. Havent seen that in other stores.
Awesome comic book shop with tons of well organized shelves worth of books. A great place for trade paper backs.
Good selection, nice guy behind the counter lol. LOVE all the local comics, ended up buying all local guys (and gals). Cant wait to visit again. 🐳
This is a great local store packed with all sorts of comics and graphic novels. I dont buy graphic novels very often, but Im definitely coming here when I do.
Great selection of comics and super nice staff. Its across the street from Doughnuts and is a regular Sunday morning date for my partner and I. If you sign up for their list you get a free comic for every 10 you buy.
Great selection, friendly staff, and they always have a treat for my dog.
Awesome little comic shop with stellar deals and a great staff! Fantastic find!
The staff are nice and know their stuff, I always try to sneak in a visit when Im in the city.
Quaint comic store. Seems focused on trades more than back issues
They have an excellent selection and the staff are fantastic.
Very nice store. Lots of Graphic novels to choose from.
Love this store. Super friendly staff and I always find a hard-to-get book Ive been looking for.
I love Hub Comics. Helpful service and nice people. They even let me stalk them on Twitter.
What a great place and super helpful staff.
Great selection and great customer service (no clichéd comic book guys here). Wonderful neighborhood comics shop that deserves your business.
Theyre super nice. And they have a good selection!
Great service and selection. Pick up a comic book here, walk across the street to buy a doughnut. Enjoy your comic topped with a doughnut.
Oh Hub Comics. I want to love you. I really really do. I work in Union Sq and stop by here on my lunch every now and then to find something good and interesting to read. I would go in every day if the crabby guy behind the counter wasnt there each time I go in! To hear his whiny Why would anyone come in to shop, when its [enter good or bad weather] comments have started to really get on my last nerve. Ive spoken to the manager about him in the past and have gotten the I dont care attitude. Ive decided that I do care where my hard earned money goes and its not to Hub Comics!
The sales rep was super friendly and knowledgeable about the comic books and stories about which my friends and I inquired. There did not seem to be a large selection of manga, unless I missed something.
Local comic store with amazing staff and a great selection, go here at least once a month
Knowledgeable staff and interesting selection, but a small store and it doesnt have everything I look for.
Great customer service. Im not a huge comics collector, but both times I have come in the store they have been friendly and helpful, including with my two year olds in tow.
This place has every thing u will want from a comic book store... Customers service is great and if they dont have the book that u r looking for they will order it for u!!!
Great comics in a lovely atmosphere :)
Very nice staff. Easy to talk to.
Terrific friendly, knowledgeable staff; great selection of comics for all ages; dog friendly. Has a couch.
When I moved into my apartment on Somerville Ave, my friend who lives nearby told me the first thing I had to check out was Hub Comics. Admittedly, I was a bit nervous when I saw the staff was only men based on how I have been treated at other comic shops in the past. The guys who work at Hub Comics are absolutely amazing; theyre incredibly friendly and welcoming to anyone who walks in the door. After one of the staff members saw what I was buying, we got into a discussion about what kind of comics I like and have read, and he was able to give me a bunch of suggestions for new series to start on. What I liked best is that while I was buying DC, he didnt limit his suggestions to the DC universe or go on about how another company was so much better, as Ive experienced at other comic shops. He gave me suggestions of series from a variety of different companies, and even some local artists/authors.The store ALWAYS has great stuff on sale, and if you take the time to look you can find some real gems for a low price. If you are in the Somerville area, I definitely suggest checking this place out.
Awesome selection, great Union Square location.
Passionate and helpful staff, great selection!
My favorite comic shop. Friendly, clean, and welcoming, with a good selection
Came here during Free Comic Book Day. Not super huge into comics but its great to see a local store get so much traffic. I stop in whenever Im in the area just to checkout the digs.
Awesome little store, quiet, and neat!
Been a subscriber here for 3 and a half years. Cant recommend them enough!
My favorite place to get comics.
Staff pick section is usually on point.
Friendly, comfortable, great selection
Amazing selection!
Great little store
