Good sales and service however, they really need to staff up or extend hours to accommodate the influx of seasonal work. It should not take 4 weeks to have snowblower (or lawnmower) serviced, yet that is the typical answer I get each year.

I was lied to here on a couple of occasions during the same visit. They were hard selling the me the older ariens machine and telling me it was exactly the same as this more expensive machine sitting next to it. I asked why the more expensive machine said it went faster and was told the book made mistakes like that which they printed. He walked away to swll someone else and I had a friend who knew mowers crawl under to tell me the hydro gear in the more expensive machine was bigger and would indeed make it faster. He then pointed out the motor was a kawasaki and not a Briggs and Stratton which was a cheaper motor on the ariens. I bought the bigger more expensive mower and they agreed to put it outside while I went to get my trailer after confirming where they would park it for me. I went to get it and they left a voicemail on my phone saying store policy said they couldnt do that and I could pick it up tomorrow during business hours if I wanted it. It was upsetting since I had planned on getting my mowing done that night. The mower is fine, but I wouldnt believe the salesmen here, and the customer service was very poor. I hope I never need a warranty repair as I feel this would also be a bad experience. They delivered the mower the next day since I could not get there during their business hours.

Its really too bad that the people here are so arrogant, and rude.I do alot of product research before buying products. The sales guy is a real piece of work. After buying an expensive , top end saw I used for two seasons and called to ask what size of file I needed to sharpen my chain and he said: We have a service department that sharpens chains so we dont share that info. I said, Really? You sell the files! I bought the saw from you! You have the sharpening kit for sale on your wall and you wont tell me? He said: Is there anything else I can do for you? NEVER EVER AGAIN! YOURE FIRED IDEAL. MY BUSINESS IS GOING ANYWHERE ELSE BUT TO YOU!

I purchased my riding lawn mower at Ideal Yardware because I thought they would stand behind the products they sell...WRONG!!! I paid to have my mower delivered to me. I mowed the lawn once, and the deck was so far off of level that my yard looks terrible. I called Ideal and talked to a manager. I was informed I had to pay to have them pickup the mower. It is their mistake, they delivered it to me in non working order. I wanted to speak to the owner, and the manager would not give the owners contact information, not even an email contact. Buyer beware! I guess I should have gone thru Home Depot. I thought going local would be best, but I was wrong. What awful customer service.

Best place to to get quality yard ware. I have a leaf blower, snowblower, string trimmer and lawnmower all form Ideal Yard Ware. Staff is always happy to help. They are the the best place to have repair done as well. Not many places can fix engines anymore but they can and will have it running perfect again.working on engines is not simple so it may talk a little time (but they tell you that in advance) well worth it when it is fixed the right way.cant say enough good things about them.

Great place to buy a lawnmower or snow blower. I have purchased Ariens, Honda and Gravely lawnmowers over the years and all have been great products. When I had some warranty work done on the Honda the staff was very helpful and I felt they went out of their way to make sure I received good service. Very knowledgeable staff selling great products. Its nice to be able to buy items like this where the staff cares about the customer.

We came from 2 hours away because of their selection of snowblowers and we had a great experience with our purchase. The showroom is the best Ive seen for yard equipment, and the guys there were extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. John can explain the mechanical side of things in terms even my wife understood. :) And Cory, the owner, was on hand making sure customers were being assisted. They can count on a return visit from us, for their expert service and huge selection.

We took our riding mower into the store several weeks ago because it would not start. They were all nice to us and said they would get the mower to run in no time. We called just about every few days and finally they called back after two to three weeks and said the mower was ready. We rented a Uhaul trailor to go pick it up; however, when we were at the store the mower did not start. They had a bunch of high school kids running the shop and they could not get the mower running. So we said we would take it to Sam Houston and they hopefully they find out the problem at get the mower to start. At this point, we assumed that since the mower did not start, and after they held our mover for so long that we would not have to pay (further......we had to hire to help mow our lawn....I am 80 years of age). They called the police to open a criminal investigation on this 80 plus years of age because we did not pay the bill for a mower which their high school shop mechanics could not start. Apparently, Sam Houston told us that the mower started and that who ever was at the shop just did not know how to operate this mower. Sam Houston was so nice and did not charge us for looking into this problem. To use our citys finest police officer to go to my house and make me pay for the bill (for which I did pay when Sam Houstons worker told me that it was fixed but that the kids at this shop did not know how to run the riding mower). As it turned out, all they had to do was to admit that they hired a bunch of kids to do a job which they are not trained to do............but instead, blaming guilt onto an 80 year old man and calling a criminal investigation by the police for a bill that was paid when we found out that the work was done. Please avoid this business at all cost!! They not only avoid treating older customers with dignity but they also abuse our city tax dollars for their benefit by sending police officers to collect their unpaid bills. I had no Idea that they are abusing our police officers this way. Please avoid this business if you can.

I’ve got gas!I have Purchased three pieces of equipment from ideal. great service and great knowledge but that’s not the point of this review. It’s about gas. I asked them last year about the premixed gas for two-stroke engines. It was much more expensive then just mixing it myself. They said just try a gallon it will last you the whole season and you will see how much butter your equipment runs. Well here we are a year later and they were righ. I still have about 1/4 gallon of gas left and my equipment runs like new. In the long run it’s a very small investment to keep my equipment running for years to come. I want to thank the team at idle for there help and carying about keeping my equipment running.Keep up the great work.

You can visit another locally run shop and get excellent customer service or go to a big box store and get the convenience that goes with that. Or go to Less than Ideal and get...neither. Id give less than 1 star if it were possible. Was interested in an Ariens snowblower but will never step foot in this crackerjack joint again. Save money and go elsewhere. I did.

I took the snow blower that I bought from Ideal Yardware back for service on 10/ 20 / 2014. The serviceman looked it over and told me I needed 1 shear pin, a cutting edge, and adjust the side mounted depth shoes.I authorized him to fix it. I got a call to pick it up on 11/ 08 / 2014, which I did on 11 /10 /2014. I assumed they fixed the 3 items I authorized. Sunday 11/16 /2014 Sioux falls got 6+ inches of snow. I went to use the snow blower, and noticed one side of the propeller wasnt working. I looked at the shear pin, and noticed it hadnt been replaced. I then looked at the cutting edge, and height adjusting shoes, and noticed they hadnt been touched either.I went to Ideal the next day to notify them that nothing I ordered had been done. They printed out what they did. Bent auger housing, adj. cables, greased axles, inspected belts. None of these items were requested or approved by me. The bill was $$60.00 Labor, $7.11 for parts, $4.03 tax. I complained to who I believe is the owner. His attitude was that they did what I requested, and if I brought in they would fix these items, but I would be charged for them, and no refund on the original bill. I AM NOT NUTS, screw me once, their fault, screw me twice, my fault. Never will I step foot in their door again. I am taking them to small claims court, as a matter of principle. DO NOT EXPECT CUSTOMER SATISFACTION FROM THIS BUSINESS!!

If I could give 0 stars I would. I have had nothing but issues with this business. We bought a way over priced Ariens blower 2 years ago for $2k. Within the first 3 days of having it home something with the fuel line had to be replaced. It has never worked correctly since. Used the blower a total of 4 times over the last 2 years because of one thing or another. Finally had to break down and have them come and get it to repair. We have a warranty on this thing so we though, meh have them repair it. They pick it up, do the repair, and now tell us they will not release until we pay $60 for delivery and pick up. Well we never knew there was a charge. We have nothing signed agreeing to a charge and it was never stated to us there would be a charge. I have called 8 times to get this resolved and the only person who can resolve it is Cory, the owner. Well Cory never returns phone calls and is never in the store. I hate to say it but Home Depot would not treat customers like this. I WILL NOT BE BACK TO IDEAL AND I WILL MAKE IT MY MISSION TO ENSURE NO ONE ELSE USES THEM.

Very poor service after the sale..I purchased a lawnmower & a Snow blower from them, after the first time I used the snow blower the Engine blew up..Oil everywhere.. my wife and I loaded it up brought it Back I asked for a new Snow blower or my money back.. they told us to leave or they where calling the police..We Waited..they never came..it was the biggest snow blower they had we struggle get it into our Trailer to get it there. We left the Snow blower outside their business.Several days later the owner call not to apologize.. but to offer us a rebuild motor on our New machine.. when we went to pick it up ..They had a letter attached to it telling us they would no longer do warranty work on it .. we were instructed to bring it to Vermillion..I could not believe this ..I have shared this story with other people..And I not surprised to hear similar stories..Even my Brother inlaw .. a well known Doctor in Sioux falls..My advice Stay away..We bought our second Arens Snow blower from Lewis Drug..There are other places to buy Arens products.

I am having an issue with their Gravely mowing product. I searched Gravely welding issues this evening and found that weld breaks are very common in these mowers. I have a very hard time with their turn time in replacing the frame on the mower. This must be a very common issue if they have frames on back order. I will have been without my mower for a month at the end of next week. The new frame is supposed to ship on the 22nd, but we will see. To be honest I would just like the mower replaced since this is a bad design and fabrication of the weld on these mowers. I took notice to the newer models being sold today, they are building them differently. I went to Ideal because I wanted to buy a good high end mower that would last me 10 plus years. I purchased a Toro Riding tractor more than 12 years ago and that machine ran awesome for 10 years with no issues and just had regular maintenance. The sales rep at Ideal had the nerve to tell me that John Deers sold at Home Depot are just MTDs. I am going to bet those green and yellow MTDs would still be running today for me and if I had any issues I would have no issues getting local service on them. I would not recommend a Gravely mower to anyone of my friends or family members. I think Ideal needs to stand behind what they sell and replace this defected product with an updated model.Update #2 as of 9/25/17. Was contacted by VP of Global Supply for this product line. Some how some where my replacement frame order was lost in the shuffle, suppose to ship tomorrow. Will see. VP admitted this is a common issue with this mower and they have changed their design. I dont think standing behind what they sell or manufacture means fixing a product with a bad design with a poorly designed replacement frame. I am very concerned I will be stuck with more issues on this mower in the near future. Ideal and Gravely need to stand behind this product by replacing them for all customers who have purchased and experienced this type of issue. As of right now I cant honestly recommend to anyone to buy this product or buy anything from Ideal at this point. Will wait and see what the out come is from this issue. Customer Service means a great deal.Update #3 - Mower was ready to pick up today. Still have not heard back from Mr. Tom Wright the VP from Global Supply that I guess is the manufacturer of the Gravely mowers. Not holding my breath on getting a call back with an update or answer on my question about my warranty being extended from date of pick up from broken frame issue. The sales rep that cashed me out at Ideal Yardware had the personality of a fence post and didnt give a rats ass about the issues I have had with this mower. I will never walk through the doors again at Ideal Yardware in Sioux Falls. If some thing else goes wrong with this mower that is covered by warranty I may take it back, but they will not get another cent of my money. Worst customer service. I will be taking my business to Daves Small Engine repair on North Cliff.

I am giving up on Ideal Yardware. Last year I wanted to buy a Cubcadet X2 riding mower so I shopped around. Campbells was offering their mower for $100 less so I gave Ideal the opportunity to match the price. They would not. Guess where I bought my riding mower? On Friday April 22 I stopped in to Ideal almost 99% sure that I was going to walk out with a Stihl chainsaw. They didnt have the MS250 because I was told you couldnt get it anymore, that it was an outdated model. I told them I would buy the MS251 if they would knock $10 off the price of the case, bringing it down to 50 and matching what Ace in Vermillion would do. They said they could not do it. I walked out of Ace in Vermillion on Saturday with an MS250, a case that only cost me $30 dollars and they threw in an extra chain and T-shirt! Twice I have tried to give Ideal my money. Their wont be a third attempt. Very poor sales techniques.
