I’ve tried the earl grey, Persian rose, matcha, and blueberry lavender flavors here, and all were *amazing* you can taste the freshness and creaminess in all of them. The price is steep for tiny scoops of ice cream, but you get exactly what you pay for! The flavors are rich enough that you don’t need a big scoop to satisfy

Discovered this place due to a coupon a friend had and I am sure glad I did. Located on the corner of the block on the Ave across from the University Book Store, its not hidden, but I probably wouldnt have seen it if not for the advertisement. The ice cream and staff here are fantastic. The guy serving us was very patient, friendly and talkative, giving out very generous samples and serving sizes. The Ice Cream itself is delicious - very tasty flavors with a shade of creamy milk in every bite. I am somewhat surprised a little by some of the less than favorable reviews because the ice cream was a bit icy for them, which I dont doubt, but coming in at the very end of their day - something like that has to be taken into consideration. I was there in the middle of the afternoon on a Friday and it was yummy.A great place and a hidden gem in U District!

We went in on a Tuesday night 30 minutes before they closed. There were no line no one else in the store besides me and my friends. The lady immediately asked us what we wanted and since it was our first time there we needed a minute to look through their flavors before ordering. She impatiently asked us again what can I get for you with an attitude like she wanted us out so she could close the store down. We then ordered one with half thai tea half Earl grey. She scooped the banana instead of the Thai tea, so I told her that was not what I asked for. She looked annoyed but still took the cup back and threw it in trash and made us a new one.Service aside, the ice cream itself was delicious and the cone was fresh and crispy. Id definitely recommend the ice cream but the service was so bad Id never come back again.

Stopped by today on the way home from a family BBQ. I ordered a small cup of the Persian Rose. It’s a unique flavor with a lovely aftertaste.Too often the craft ice cream shops try to overpower your taste buds with weird combinations; and have limited options for portions. Instead Sweet Alchemy offers three portion sizes which makes it easy to enjoy their craft offerings.Decor and seating area was kind of fun; especially with that street now closed to vehicles permanently.

I love sweet alchemy ice cream! It’s my favorite spot in the Seattle area and the Uw location is the best one. The ice cream shop does subtle flavors really well and has a smooth and creamy texture. I’ve tried tons of flavors and I like almost all of them (except for flavors that I just don’t like on principle). My favorite flavors are the magkeolli and the tale of two teas. Something I haven’t seen at other places is that sweet alchemy will have chocolate dipped waffle bowls sometimes. Point being I’m a huge fun and I try to take people from out of town here all the time. The seating for summer is also really convenient.

Customer service is awful. The girl behind the counter was rude and did not hide her annoyance that she had customers. After someone else made a comment in line, she walked away, proceeded to ignored folks and got on her phone. We then had to wait to be served by someone else that looked apologetic but didnt say anything. Ice cream is not worth the expensive price. I got two prepackaged pints that both had ice crystals in them. Subpar overpriced icecream and getting treated so disrespectfully? Thats how you lose customers.

Talk about rude!! Its a shame this use to be my favorite ice cream shop in The University District. But who wants to deal with the rudeness of these young ladies? I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone. Making people wear a mask after every other business for the most part, is happy with the graduation of removing masks. Not only are they demanding customers to wear masks, if you try to argue the point with them, theyre automatically rude to customers.Okay so you as the owner of this establishment, only have time to stick up for youre staff? I can see youre confused and a little belligerent thats okay. I will just cross the street to purchase my alternative ice cream, they have more variety over there anyhow. Dont address the rudeness of youre staff. I would have to say the low class ingredients of youre business along with the uptight rudeness. keeps me from having any interest of continuing to frequent youre overpriced (snobby) establishment. Yes please be like the rest of the sheep. Youre staff are unnecessarily rude, and sorry but Ill just take my business elsewhere. to the ice-cream shop right across the street.

Stay away: disgusting flavors, rude employees, overpriced, and no guarantee on quality! Edited to add more context - they dont allow tasting because of COVID, but also refuse to remake your ice cream and additionally refuse to give a refund. The flavors were so awful I had to toss them in the trash, so expensive I had to leave this review. After reading through other reviews, looks like my experience isnt unique. When my friends want to go back, I emphatically tell them to choose a different place because the service left such a bad taste in my mouth and I just cant give this place business for what theyre doing. Heres my warning to you: run and avoid!----The toasted sesame and Persian rose were awful: I tasted many ice cream places before and these were by far the worst ice cream flavors Ive ever tasted. Especially the sesame tasted terrible. When I asked the cashier if I could get even 1 of those flavors remade, she said no because of company policy. Definitely not coming back again, only 2 stars because my friends liked the chocolate. Disliked the service, prices ($10 for a waffle cone + ice cream), and the taste.

Ive tried this ice cream place twice now (months apart and two different flavors) and both times I found the taste just okay and the consistency terrible: icy (I could feel the ice crystals in my mouth) and not smooth at all. Sorry, I tried really, really hard to like this place. I got several pints of ice cream from this place more than once, thinking the first was just a bad batch, and just cant get myself to like it.If you like ice cream that is crumbly and light (not thick and creamy), this is for you.If you like ice cream that will literally melt within 1 second of scooping it into your bowl, this is for you.If you like to pay a hefty price tag for unique flavored ice cream that doesnt taste all that great, this is for you.The black sesame that was so highly rated was inedible and I had to throw it away after having two spoonfuls. I felt horrible throwing away $12 ice cream.Their most unique and tastiest flavor (Persian Rose), is just a knockoff of the Indian dessert Ras Malai, which you can find at many Indian restaurants that will taste much better (and more authentic).Worst of all, the ice cream MELTS really, really fast. As soon as you put it into a bowl, it melts. It feels awful paying $12 for ice cream water. I have included a picture. FYI, I thought something was wrong with my fridge and turned it to the coldest setting. I scooped out this brands ice cream along with another brand from a fairly popular ice cream chain, and this brands ice cream melted right away.Positives - the delivery service is cool; free delivery for $12 of ice cream. However, the ice cream no longer comes in jar, which was their signature.Cant recommend. :(

Sweet Alchemy Ice Creamery, U-District, Seattle WASweet alchemy, an interesting name (Witchcraft? Wizardry? or Magic?) but no matter the definition the result is some seriously good ice cream. Located in Seattle’s University District on the somewhat drab (if not a bit depressing) corner of University Ave and NE43rd. Like much of the ‘Ave’, the surroundings are or can be a bit sketchy, but soon all will change when the new Light Rail station opens (on the end of the block) and Covid retreats to where, once again many small and unique businesses will come back to life. The creamery storefront is unassuming and the interior is even less so as Covidprotocols and plexiglass shields somewhat ensure overall transaction time is quick, efficient and distanced (tap to pay as cash is taboo). But really who cares, in this case its the destination, not the journey that counts, and our GPS was squarely destined towards two deliciously, freshly made waffle cones awaiting our arrival! With one filledwith a scoop of Banana Nutella Crunch Ice Cream (Butter and brown sugar roasted bananas pureed into our sweet cream base with Nutella sauce and double roasted hazelnuts) along with a scoop of Coffee Ice Cream (Made with Olympia roasters organic big truck blend), and the other being another generously filled waffle cone featuring Darkside Ice Cream (Dutch choco with homemade Oreo and ganache swirl) and again more Banana Nutella Crunch. The silky small batch, organic, and locally sourced ice cream flavours are so genuinely rich, pure and incredibly more delicious than any other ice cream we have come across, its hard to put what your taste buds experience into words. The ice cream is more than rich so be careful that ones eyes dont exceed what ones tummy may accommodate. On our visit other deliciously sounding flavours on offer were London Fog Ice Cream (Earl gray tea with house blend of vanilla) and Persian Rose Ice Cream (Cardamom and rosewater ice cream with pistachio bits). Being ‘small batch’ youre not going to find 31 flavours, youre going to find a few unique and truly artisanal palate pleasing treats. Sweet Alchemy prides itselfon using ingredients from meticulously selected local farms to deliver the best natural taste through many creative flavors. From doing a bit of research, it also seems that flavours change and continually evolve, and additional specialities such as Ice CreamCakes and limited homemade baked goods are also available. Quantities of all their products are limited due to the devotion of individual product quality so selection may be limited. Staff are friendly and energetic within the Covid protocols enforced (that we all should abide by), if only abiding by ones diet was just as easy. Quality doesn’t come cheap hereabouts – a large waffle cone won’t leave much change from a ten.

Not sure if its always like this but the few flavors I tried were very icy and gritty textured. I had the Jitter Bars flavor and it claims to have espresso shortbread and caremel , but no one in my group could taste any coffee favor Im it. Just writing this review has reminded me of the pistachio in the Persian Rose Pistachio icecream.
