It’s a cozy little spot with great coffee and a friendly staff. Prices are reasonable and the coffee is just superb. They offer the beans they use for sale and have merchandise of their cafe as well. Highly recommend

They are fast and efficient. The line was moving non-stop. Small intimate seating space and lively. They use local ingredients and have fresh coffee. Since it is busy you need to pay attention to your order when its called as it happens quickly. I walked by two cafes on the way and the lines were out the door, this place kept that from happening. There is also outside seating. The outside seating area was covered in trash though. The barista was willing to answer all questions and I didnt feel rushed. A solid Cafe with good coffee.

Great place. Their house drip coffee was very mild and hit the spot. The croissant breakfast sandwiches were absolutely delicious and I will be coming back here again. This is also a place I would recommend to a student who is working on a paper or someone who wants a quiet place to read. 5 STARS.

Finally stopped by here when I was midway through an urban hike, trying to keep myself entertained as it started raining (hard). The gal who was ringing me up was so sweet and kind, giving me all the info on their menu and walking me through best sellers. I didnt realize they roast their own coffee! I got an oat milk latte and a croissant egg sandwich with turkey. They make it with this super yummy mayo so good I remembered to mention it in this review This place made the worst weather brighter - yum yum! Thank you!

Was actually highly surprised at how amazing the coffee was, and overall Im very impressed.Delicious, relaxed, and though there isnt accessible seating or entrances and its a small place, the coffee is amazing and its a positive, laid back place.Definitely recommended for a chat with a friend over some artisanal level coffee in a comfy area, or sitting down with their wifi for a safe few minutes to work on a paper.Student friendly: ✅Good service: ✅Friendly atmosphere: ✅Great coffee and menu: ✅✅✅🧡✅✅Disability/limited mobility friendly: ❌ (a few stairs up to the main area, crowded seating and hard to stand in line, no accessible entrance or seating unless you stay outside, but youll still have to grab your order)COVID safe: mostly ✅Speed of service: ✅ 4/5 -- they make every cup carefully and its worth a few extra minutes when theyre busy. And youll never wait longer than 10-15.Location: ✅ just off the Ave, currently seems a bit tucked away, but generally safe and with the outdoors safe seating in the summer, theres no traffic next to the entranceGood Cleanliness: ✅Allergy friendly: only in Alternative Milk options, from what I can see.Experience: ⭐ 10/10 ⭐ will come againThank you for blowing me away with a single cup! 🧡

I had the lox bagel sandwich here and have no complaints; the proportion of ingredients was done well and the service was fast. Their fresh made waffles are also nice and feathery, and the size is appropriately large; strawberries on top were fresh and the confectioners sugar added texture and a nice aftertaste. The atmosphere is unique and perhaps best described as hipster; ceilings are low and the decor perhaps isnt stylistically integrated, but it imparts a homely vibe. For a quick weekend breakfast, this place more than met my needs.

There are two types of cafes that attract the young crowd, cafes with ampersands in their names and those without. Ugly Mug is the latter (discounting the cafe & coffee descriptor), but dont downplay it as just another cafe. The staff is genuinely warm hearted, and gone are the overused blank spaces in the name of aesthetics. Hell, they even serve holiday specials past the holidays and that alone will get me through the door.

Cute little hideaway shop in the U-District. I love their chai tea lattes - lavender, jasmine, and traditional (although I think they may have gotten rid of the jasmine flavor recently). The worst customer service ever, by far! Jan 23, 2020.Unfriendly environment, indifferent service, staff is rude and condescending. 0/5 would not go ever again.I went here because of a high rating on Google. To be perfectly fair, the waffles were decent, just not exceptional. The worst part was the server (a young man), who made me feel entirely unwelcome. After I finished, I asked him where I can put the dirty dishes. He pointed and said there like he was annoyed at me, while his back was turned.I dont expect the guy to go out of his way to be nice to me, but that is a far cry from being passive-aggressive, abrupt and standoffish towards a perfect stranger. He basically dropped the plate on the table and walked away without an extra word. My feelings at this point can be summed up as: I do not feel welcome here at all.Initially I assumed he was having a bad day... then hes all smiles and sunshine to the next customer. Im not exactly sure what this persons deal is, I just know I will never be returning and have spent the effort to leave this negative review. If the owner is reading this: please retrain your staff.

The coffee at Ugly Mug has remained my favorite for my entirety of life in Seattle. The employees remember you and never over charge, they always work with you to ensure you are satisfied, their vegan soups are always AMAZING and the bread given with it is phenomenal as well. I have had my day warmed by these people and the smiles they share. They roast their coffee on site so its always fresh and they even have a breakfast and lunch menu that will knock you out of the park. I will always love this shop and the memories it holds for me and my other friends who regular it.

TL;DR: Good food and drink options, rather unpleasant staff, small space.Starting with the good: The coffee here is lovely, the menu options are great, and the food is delicious.Unfortunately, in the numerous times Ive come here, Ive been rather put off by the attitudes of the employees. I often feel like they act like Ive just disturbed them from something more important. Theyre curt and cliquish feeling. Its uncomfortable.Additionally, they once made my latte without steaming the milk all of the way through. Only the very top was warm, and you could feel the cold milk through the cup, under the sleeve. I only realized this once I was out the door. They seemed to be in a rush to get my drink out even though the tiny cafe was relatively empty and there was no line.

Their waffle is AMAZING, is has lavender whipped cream, which I surprisingly loved, and fresh strawberries. I would also recommend the salmon and dill bagel for lovers of lox. I have tried and tried to call and find out about any holiday hours on Christmas Eve and they do not pick up their phone, neither does their voice mail work .....far to inefficient for an established business. In the first place their hours should be listed on their website for Christmas Eve and Christmas..then all this could be avoided!

This cafe serves a really great lox bagel sandwich, surprisingly enough it is quite difficult to find a restaurant who does this. Many restaurants usually go to heavy on the capers, cream cheese or something besides the lox, but ugly mug does a great job with theirs. The coffee on the other hand isnt really anything special, its about the same as any other cafe. I go sometimes just for the lox bagel sandwich.
