Outdoor Research has good quality products but the company has no regard for the environment whatsoever, which is pretty bad in 2021 when every single other business is coming out with more earth-friendly packaging and ingredients. I mean, its an outdoorsy brand... youd think they would care.

OR is one of my favorites, I will continue to buy their products. The one missing star is directly related to the experience at this store. The staff was not friendly at all, they were actually quite rude and I felt uncomfortable in there. I’ll order things online or get them at other stores, not worth going back here for me. Odd.

I have bought the “award winning” ferrosi pant, as well as the heavier men’s hoodie and their puffy. Very stylish for the climbing gym but useless on a hiking trail. The pants are not protective to the elements. Mosquitoes will chew on you through them. I even tried layering two pairs of the “award winning” pants and sure enough I still got bit. You’ll look super stylish but still covered in bites. Also you will collect splinters that are crazy hard to remove if you have to scramble over blow downs. The hoodie also failed miserably at protecting. Again, way stylish. My lady tried the sun hoodie and it does in fact act as a barrier to the sun, so there’s that. The well cut, but heavy, compared to many other puffy coats does keep you warm in camp. I absolutely would not test it in any tough conditions. It performs admirably stuffed into a bag as a pillow. Outdoor Research... Right. Keep giving yourselves awards guys.

Was very disappointed by the way we were treated when we arrived to return an item. There were no questions about what was wrong with the product, just an interrogation about how returns are processed on line. At first I thought we were being turned away but then I learned she could process the return, reluctantly. There were no smiles. Ever. It was a very cold and unwelcoming experience and I shall not return to the store, as much aa I love their products.

Ive been wearing Outdoor Research for 7 years now. Always quality performance clothing and gear. Admittedly their shot at covid masks hasnt been great, Im not a fan of the filters and the way they feel against my face, but the sports mask works great for me at work and Im appreciative that they took on the challenge as a company to contribute to fighting covid and provide people with the gear we need expediently. What I do love is their equinox pants, vigor tops, helium II rain jacket, the Juneau toque, and of course every single pair of gloves! Outdoor Research is the king of cold weather gloves, every single pair is the best pair of gloves Ive ever had. One of my OR glove pairs is actually too hot, I cant imagine needing the heated versions and Im Canadian. Outdoor Research supports military members in a big way and its drawn me in and made me a lifetime convert. Ive only ever had to return one pair of pants due to a sewing mistake, but it was an incredibly easy and smooth return and I even called in and didnt have to wait on hold forever, got a really nice human to speak to in under a minute, which these days is incredibly rare. Keep up the amazing work.

Bought a pair of gloves decorated in “touch screen compatible” verbiage. Turns out - no touch screen I have encountered registers. Called the company and spoke to a less that enthused young gent who offered to send a replacement in April. Not sure about anyone else but I try to break my glove wearing habit sometime in March. So much for nice packaging - service is bad and product is attractive but non-functional.

Within the last year I purchased a $90 pair of Direct Contact Gloves that were marketed for use between 10-30 degree F. First time using them, I worn them on a 25F day at Stevens and they simply did not insulate my fingers and allowed wind to penetrate the gloves. I summited a claim only to be told that the marketed range is not guaranteed even though it is a point of reference for customers to purchase. This to me is very misleading and is inappropriate to the customer.

I really , REALLY wanted to like this mask. Its a bandana type, supposedly fits all. The best is it should be easy to take off, it IS comfortably warm while skiing, wire on nose is good fit. The WORST is the velcro is not running the same direction so the grabby part over hangs and snags everything. Unfortunately for me that meant a big gob of my hair being ripped off when i tried to take it off at lunch time. The ear loops are too far forward so if u use them the mask covers ur eyes, lol. So i left them off. But without them it constantly falls below ur nose. Dilemma for sure. My husband also tried this mask and the loops didnt fit his mug either. Love OR gear. But now have to use my up cycle skills and move the loops back and resew the velcro in the correct direction to match. Probably snaps would work better than velcro.

This is the company store for the design studio in the same building, but its open to the public for you to pick up the latest outdoor clothing and gear. Oftentimes there are items on deep discount, whether they be last seasons colors or excess inventory. Everything coming out of OR is top shelf quality and if you can believe it, most items have a lifetime warranty. What a great company. Plus the staff here are super helpful. It may not be obvious but toward the back left of the store, around a corner is a dressing room if you want to try on items such as pants.By the way, they have a deep selection of ladies items also.

Bought a down jacket made by Outdoor Research from Camp Saver. The fabric was extremely disappointing. It absorbed oil instantly. The down jacket was not advertised as water resistant, but one would never expect it made of oil absorbent sheet. However, this is not the reason I gave it a one-star.I emailed this companys customer service as well as its CEO for multiple times. NO RESPONSES whatsoever. Is this type of the goods and services you would expect for a $100+ purchase?I cant agree more on a previous post in that this company makes no effort to stand behind their products. After your money leaves your hand for their products, you are screwed.Rep saw the unpleasant review and started reaching out to me (Jan 22, 2020). Asserted all sorts of defenses. None of reps defenses was reasonable nor appreciated. Even though I was not expecting anything after my initial review post, the Rep just made the company worst in my view.Stay away from this company and any of its products, forever.

Best customer service in the outdoor industries. I mean, infinite guarantee! I like the fact that they issue credits for the warrantied items (I dont even need to keep my receipts, yes!), after all, I usually need the items right away since the perfect weather in Seattle is rather short-lived. Its also hassle free where only the essential questions are asked when it comes to return/warranty issues. The only downside to this company is that their design needs to be a bit more detailed (more seamless needed, sizing tends to run a bit taller, not your lightest weight material, etc.). However, in general, their quality control is great and the company is underrated. I would buy all of my outdoor gear from this company if only their designs were better for this place has the right price point for its quality and customer service.

I had such a wonderful surprise going into this store for the first time. Ive driven by this location countless times and have been interested in OR products for several years, but Ive never ventured into this little store until today. And what a great surprise to see such a large sample of ORs product line nicely displayed and to be served by such helpful staff! Preston went out of his way to help me find just the jacket I was looking for and clearly and patiently explained the differences between all the available options. He was also easy to talk to and fun to hang out with during my visit, and gave me the extra time I needed in order to make a decision. And I walked away with two (not just one) jackets and will order another! Thank you OR, for such great products, such a cool little store and such helpful, friendly staff.

As I walked out, new customers were greeted as they walked through the front door. Its too bad because I thought their selection was great.

Great customer service and a better warranty than REI (or anyone else that Im aware of). They have a limited selection of typically priced non OR gear, better deals can be had online, but when they carry something I want I tend to buy it if the price is somewhat similar since their warranty is so good.As to the OR gear itself, its generally very well made and well thought out and, unlike many other outerwear brands, they still focus on the people that actually go outside, not just the people who want to look like it. Their accessories are generally better than the competition.

While the warranty looks good on paper, the company makes no effort to stand behind their products. My wife had purchased an Interstellar rain jacket from OR on sale, wore it 4 times on very low intensity hikes before the front pocket zipper fell off. We had filed a warranty claim with Outdoor Research on their website, per the instructions I had been given when I called, but they offer only to provide store credit, which means replacing the purchased jacket will cost an additional $40. Additionally, the warranty rep with whom we emailed has ignored our last several messages, three days running now. While this jacket was purchased because of the stated warranty (which in no way indicates they will not exchange damaged merchandise), the actual mechanics of utilizing that warranty render it absolutely worthless. We are a family of five that spends thousands of dollars a year on hiking, camping, skiing, climbing, and mountaineering equipment. Weve learned our lesson and will stick with companies that honor their warranty.

Edit: Nov 6, 2019. Outdoor Research has promptly fixed the issue and has sent out a replacement vest and taken this one back. Thank you.WARRANTY REVIEW: I purchased a Transcendent Down Vest from K2 Basecamp in Brisbane Australia June 14th, 2019. I had the vest for approximately 3 weeks, which I maybe wore 6 times or even less before the face fabric across the chest starting wearing out. I thought it may have been my messenger bag but realized the seat belt in my Hilux was actually making this fabric fuzzy. I called OR in Seattle and spoke to someone in their Warranty Dept and they asked me to bring it back to K2 for them to deal with the Warranty. K2 had this down vest for 2 months... OR told K2 that they would not Warranty the vest due to the vest coming into contact with something. K2 told me this 2 weeks into them having the vest, which I thought surely that doesn’t make sense. K2 said they would contact OR again to see what else they could do. Now 2 months goes by, with the vest at the store that I bought it at, with no one finding a solution. This really confuses me since Outdoor Research is known for their Outdoor products, which you would think these products would come into contact with something at some point in their life span. I can understand a company not choosing to warranty a product from abuse or negligence, but wearing a vest while driving your vehicle should surely be a normal activity for a piece of clothing. I picked it up tonight from K2. I have attached pictures of the chest fabric where you can see the vest is brand new except for the diagonal fuzzy fabric section where a seat belt would rub. Now, the reason for this review... What is the point of advertising an “Infinite Guarantee” and not stand behind your product? Is this vest well designed and stylish - YES. Does the fabric used in the production of it have a problem - YES. Would I like OR to stand behind their “Infinite Guarantee” and choose to deal with this - YES... Would I recommend any OR products moving forward to my circle of friends, NO, not after this experience.

The website says to call for a reservation, however the representative I spoke with informed me that they were first--come, first served, but had all of their beacons in stock. When I arrived less than 24 hours latee, they were completely out, and had been at least all day. I assume I was given incorrect information over the phone, but either way I hope they will establish a reservation system (or at *least* be more realistic with callers) so that other folks arent left in the lurch.
